That's really cool, Dave! Especially the book part and that you can enlarge the print....and the whole mouse thingy is cool, too.

Most of my workouts are in front of the computer. I like watching my shows on netflix or youtube, or the listening to music.

Here's what I discovered recently. With Windows 10 (and a couple before) you can cast or mirror your computer to a smart tv, smart DVD or Bluray player, Roku, Chromecast, etc. I have planted my Gazelle (or your elliptical or treadmill or whatever) in front of my TV. I always could watch youtube (via Xbox) or regular TV. Now..... I can mirror the Kindle app on my laptop to the TV and read books while I exercise without worrying about dropping things. I got a little wireless mouse for under $10 to flip pages with and it works really slick. Thanks to the Kindle app I can make the print as big as I need. Haven't tried Barnes and Noble yet as I also have a Nook. Just an idea for anybody who may be interested in pumping up the steps and never leave the TV.

In good weather yes, in bad, no. My Garmin target is around 8800 and I usually make it or beat it. I'm pretty sedentary other than my walks and hikes outdoors and workouts on the Gazelle and walking videos indoors. I probably hit ten thousand about forty percent of the time and am almost always over eight thousand. I had a couple surgeries this year that slowed me down a little, but even then I've kept at it pretty well. I started walking every day of the week last June and have lost well over thirty more pounds since then after a two-year plateau, so it does help.

Darlene, even the American Heart Association that originally came out with the 10,000 steps is now saying exercise is more important then steps. The 10,000 steps is more for people whose main exercise is walking. The average woman walks a 20 minute, the average woman takes 2500 steps a mile, 2.5 hours would be just over 7 miles or 17,500 steps. Now that is if you were moving the whole 2.5 hours. But I don't think you have anything to worry about.

The only time I remember not getting 10,000 several times over was when I broke my ankle and had my gall badder removed Mom says I opened the back gate and went for a walk when I was 2 and I haven't stopped walking since. Just walking the dog will take me over 10,000

No and I couldn't tell if I did. Even when I play pickleball the pedometer says I only get 1300 steps in after playing an hour and a half to two hours.

I was when I got my fitbit and I was gaining weight. (stress from making sure I won all the competitions I had joined). Now, I don't even pay attention to it. Some days I do, some days I don't. During the summer it will be a lot more than 10k due to farm work but I can't focus on it.

It is recommended that we get at least 10,000 steps in every day. Do you?
