When I lived on the farm. I don't think we had a clock. You got up when the rooster crowed, milked the cow, eat breakfast and worked the cattle till the sun was over head. You took a break for dinner then did you chores, As the sun was going down you came in for supper and read till you were tired and went to bed. We did set our watches by the radio the days we needed to go to town, they had a clock and opened and closed by it, not the sun.

Dave, thanks for that article.

Ah me...in my opinion (humble or not) we've gotten too big for our britches. Everyone wants to travel, so for goodness sakes we 'have' to have the trains run on time! People won't shop in the dark- so it's a 'must' that we stretch out the hours of daylight so customers can shell out their money to businesses!
The 'wisdom of man' is a mockery in the eyes of an all knowing CREATING God.

This topic reminds of an Andy Griffith episode when a visiting preacher told everyone they were far too busy throughout the day to enjoy life and relax for a bit.
Andy's circle of friends decided the preacher was right. They decided to start the Sunday town band playing again. lol The work to repair the stage, mend the clothes, and to practice their instruments was so overwhelming they had to quit and just go collapse into chairs on the front porch. lol In attempting to make things EASIER, it just became HARDER.

Funny, the things we try to do.

And we all lived happily ever after...

It didn't bother me this year at all. Orzo just woke me up early anyway and it seems that I always need a nap anyway. I like having more light in the evenings, though, so if I get tired for a couple days or weeks it's fine with me.

Falling back plays games with me. I love when we spring ahead there is no need for us to do so in this day and age. Florida is trying to do away with it.

AZ must not be aware of big business, because we don't change our clocks although Navajo Nation in our NE corner follows daylight savings.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

It gets dark, naturally, for a real good reason. God probably designed it so our bodies rest up during the winter, for the hard work needed ahead in the Spring!
I tend to trust GOD'S reasoning. :)

I think I'm ready for a nap. One problem. My 3 sisters are heading over to celebrate my 50th. lol (50th, that's probably why I need a nap. har har)

With the mount of money retailers say they make with daylight savings time, I don't sit doing away with as an option, permanent on yes.One thing that swayed Bush to extend daylight savings time a month was that the golf industry said that their revenue would go way up if if daylight savings time was extended 1 month. Many stores say that people are more likely to shop after work if it is still light. I've read that daylight savings time doesn't save electric, causes many people to get sick, I think that the change messes with their biological clock, With it light out when people get off work the are more likely to go for a walk.

Never notice any effect (except when it makes me late for church. wink.)
I've often wondered why anyone WOULD feel the effects.
I hear that such physical problems such as heart attacks go on the increase during these times and that we almost did away with the Savings Time back when Obama was in office. I wish he did. I find it confusing.

Like....If it's making the day LONGER during the winter, why is it still SO DARK, SO EARLY?
Please explain.

And we all lived happily ever after...

Daylight Savings Time began early this morning, which means that we lose an hour. Does the time change have any effect on how you feel? If so, how long does it take for your body to adjust to the change?
