Last summer we moved from our cabin. Most of the stuff went into storage that we pay for. Next summer I'll go through it but it is hard for me to get rid of "old" stuff, it has so many memories and each time I use or see it I think of those before be that treasured it.

But, stuff keep growing and I do some 'getting rid of stuff" - just not enough and not the stuff that might have meant something to others...

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I like to give to Goodwill or to our Feed/Cloth My People Thrift Store. Nice to know there is a day for this sort of thing. Now to motivate me.... emoticon

I need to get rid of a lot of stuff here. I have kept all my parents' old stuff, but some of it has completely stopped working. The problem is that everything has to go to a recycling program that you have to pay for to get rid of anything around here. Just another way for the government here to take people's money.

the way things are so poorly made today, I'd like to keep older stuff and get rid of the new stuff that keep breaking.

NITEMAN, at least DW didn't say you'd be set to the curb or recycled. lol

So that's what DW meant when she said I'd get special recognition today?

I defiantly need to get rid of some "old stuff".

Daddy taught us, If you haven't used it in a year, move it to the storage room a year later if it is still in the storage room you don't need it and it goes to the curb

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

Always observed on March 2nd, National Old Stuff Day is a day to give notice to all that old stuff and try something new. Well, maybe not ALL the old stuff, but some of it. Itís a day to break out of the old routines and try something new.

What do you think of this idea? Do you ever do this just because? Would you?

HOW TO OBSERVE

Vintage fashion is still in vogue, but you can really get into the spirit of things by visiting a junk shop or visiting you local car boot Ė another personís old stuff could be your new stuff! Or maybe now is a good day to declutter? Stuff you arenít so into any more could make a great gift for someone else, or you could always pass you old things on to your local charity shop.

If youíre in a crafty mood, you could upcycle your old clothes into new outfits with just a little tailoring, or turn unwanted trinkets into snazzy boho decorations. Today would be a good day to visit your older relatives and learn about your family history, and the kind of shenanigans your grandparents would get up to back in the golden days.

Approach the day with a new attitude. Consider alternatives to each of the choices you make each day. Is there a better or equal alternative? Try making a new choice when available

We have all heard the saying, ďsame old, same old.Ē Well, this is the day to do things differently. There is no limit to how you can change up your day. Take a moment to recognize the things that you do each day. Is there a better way, more efficient way? Is there a better route to work? Is there a less stressful approach to a task?

Maybe itís just a way to brighten your day or someone elseís day. Whatever it is, strive to make the day new, not the same old day it was yesterday.
