It is a running joke in our family about the burnt food they have experienced on my behalf. The food is done when the smoke alarm goes off. lol

I tried a pumpkin soup once. I followed the recipe but I have to say it really needed something else. Needless to say it did not get eaten. :(

About our second year of marriage my DH went pheasant hunting and didn't get any pheasants but brought home a rabbit. I never heard of cooking a rabbit but my MIL gave me a recipe she never tried but heard it was good.

They were coming for dinner so I decided to use her recipe and it was made with cooking the rabbit in vinegar ??? so I did and it was terrible. Four of us could not eat this dinner I especially made for a treat ... and I had no other food to offer...Yuk...

Another time, the first year I was married, I had in-laws for breakfast and broiled bacon (for the first time). I stuck it under the broiler and let it cook away and boy did it cook fast into charcoal. The house was full of smoke and the rest of my breakfast was a disaster...

Not as bad as serving a cooked phone tho...:)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I turned the oven on to preheat it for a half-baked pizza. Well, this was back in the days before caller ID and when I wanted to be undisturbed, I put the phone in the oven. Fortunately it started to stink before it did any damage, so the phone still worked. I'm glad because I didn't have to explain the damage to good ole United Tel Co's equipment. So my disaster was baked rotary phone.

I've had a couple I could consider the worst. Take your pick. When I was 7 or 8 my friend and I made an apple pie for dessert. Somehow we were able to get it cut into slices, but nobody could eat that crust. We didn't know you had to put shortening in it, so made it with flour, salt and water.

When we were getting ready to go to a dance and had made dinner before. Turkey was way overcooked even though it had one of those pop-up things and I took it out on time according to it. With that I made the sweet potato casserole, following the directions and ended up with something that looked like chocolate pudding. Nothing was really fit to eat.

Not sure about the biggest but there is one that comes to mind. I was stirring up a desert and was interrupted. When I went back thought I hadn't added the baking soda but I had. Needless to say it wasn't fit to eat with 2 times the soda. It puffed up and fell.

I know I've had many cooking mishaps not one is standing out wait a minute t. One time I was cooking a chicken and I cooked it with the breast side down was surprised when I was trying to carve it it only was bone no meat. I even complain to the butcher then I realized the mistake I made. emoticon

The first thing that came to my mind was when I made a dinner at my in-law's house and the oven locked and we couldn't get it open. I thought for sure it was going to be a burnt mess. (we had to take the door off in order to get to the food!)
But when I was about 17 I tried a peanut butter bread recipe and it was horrible. I am not sure if it was my error or just a horrible recipe. I never made it again.
