I used to focus on one at a time but now that I have them back as far as I can go locally, I jump around.

Well my Moms mothers side of the tree is done all the way back to Wales and the Micmac Indians..her dads side is i would say interesting and i would lose track . but my dads two side are a mystery still, i have names and dates and just a statement that they worked the lumber mills of southwest Louisiana, his moms side is like bush cause it ties into my moms tree and that is a wild story...

I've reached the point where I've deadened on almost all my lines, so I'll look at one till it has frustrated me and move to the next. When I find something on one I tend to stay with it till it stops. Several deadends have been dead for a good while when someone out of the blue has contacted me and opened it wide open, so I try not to get bogged down. Sometimes it is things like the son of my great uncles wife by her first husband had a copy of the family tree that my great grandmother did and said she destroyed.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I would probably get side-tracked. I'm pretty spontaneous; I would hate to be in the middle of something and find a clue to something else...and NOT be able to check it out right away. lol

And we all lived happily ever after...

I've noticed that someties my best layed plans just aren't meant to be, and I have to go wtih what lands in front of me and very often that is a branch I hadn't planned on.

I try to work on one line at a time but do tend to get side tracked.

I am working on 3 different trees so I move around. Of course, my personal tree gets more attention. I get on a line and find myself intrigued wondering what these people were like.

When working on your genealogy, do you focus on one line at a time or find yourself getting sidetracked & moving to other lines when you see something that may apply?
