I am a donor and also know of successful transplants.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I know someone who had a heart transplant in 1986, I think it was. She has had some struggles, but has been doing really well for several years.

I'm not an organ donor. With having had cancer and having diabetes I don't think it would be too safe for someone to get my organs. Besides, they are old.

Don't know anybody, but I'm a donor. (I guess I should say I will be a donor once I'm done with them?)

Oh what a subject. Did you here about the cargo boxes full of American bodies that were being sold for donations etc.? I think it was 6,000 lbs worth of body parts.
I'm sorry, but I have a problem with that.

My brothers daughter was born with kidney disease. She has received two transplants
3 years apart but both kidneys eventually had to be removed. She had her first transplant on her 18th birthday. At this time she has no kidneys at all and does home dialysis at night.
She is 24 and works full time at a nursing home. She lives at home with the family.
She has taken herself off the transplant list. My brother and his wife said they don't agree
with her decision but understand she is old enough to decide. I know it breaks their
hearts to know how short her life will probably be.

No, I don't think I know anyone that has received an organ.

I was ONCE on the list as a donor, but have since removed myself for various reasons.

I'm an organ donor. Personally I don't know anyone that has received an organ, but my daughter is head of trauma ICU and a back up nurse in ICU and is very familiar with donors and recipients. Sometime dealing with the family of the donor in Trauma ICU and running across the hall to ICU to deal with the family of the recipient. That is a roller coaster and leaves her a basket case till the next day.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I don't know any recipients either. I was listed as an organ donor in Cali. I don't recall if I am in the south.

I am not an organ donor in the usual sense of the word, but when I die my body will go to Washington University for research purposes. It is already arranged & my beneficiary & my doctor are aware of it.

Today is National Organ Donor Day. Have you or anyone you now been the recipient of a donated organ? Are you a registered organ donor?
