When I plateau I need to go back to measuring out everything, otherwise I seem to be able to eyeball the measurements.

I have them and use them regularly for baking. I need to get back to using them daily.

I have measuring cups in a drawer near the stove just for measuring portion sizes.
I don't go to extremes- I learn what they are, and then I eye-ball it, unless the scale goes back up, then I'll REMIND myself what a portion size is.

Also remember that ladels are available to serve. Figure out THEIR capacity and just use them regularly.
Or, if 1/2 is the portion size for veggies, keep the 1/2 cup scoop in/ near the serving bowl/pan.
For those of us with kids, it would be great to form the habit.

I think my weakest area would be something like Italian bread (unsliced)....mmmm...just RIP off a good sized chunk and slather it with butter. Yum! I don't see the point of eating a THIN slice. lol

I used to measure things but don't anymore. I need to make sure my portions are right on some things where I get too much. I don't usually have too much, though, because my stomach won't handle a lot.

After 65 years of cooking I mostly know my measurements, but I do not trust my guess on weights and have a scale in my kitchen to check on that.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I used to measure but have done it so much, I do well now just seeing how much is there.

I know what correct portion sizes are but don't always follow them. Sometimes I just need to "use up that last little bit" and feed them to myself, which is what my mother did with her leftovers, that is, feed them to me. The scales show when I forget that food can go to waste or to waist and I need to get back on track.

I used to use measurements to see if my serving portions were correct. I found out my eyeball measurements are really accurate. So I rarely measure my food out anymore.

How familiar are you with correct portion sizes? Do you use the correct amounts in planning your meals? Do you keep your measuring utensils handy so that you are more likely to use them?
