I pay for world Ancestry and love it. I go on and on with it. I do selectively log onto other sites, some free, but seldom find as much as I do on Ancestry. So recently I just don't waste my time on others I have so much info to enter as it is with stuff my DH gives me and Ancestry.

This month I've had two separated connections with relatives I didn't know. One lives fairly close and her daughter closer, only 20 minutes from me, so we plan to meet when she is visiting her daughter.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I pay for Ancestry but no others. I do like searching for the free sites.

My favorites are library websites that post much of their indexes and genealogy info online.

I signed up for the newsletter from a site that you posted on here, Sandy. I also am on a Facebook group and have been to the library classes a couple of times.

There are a lot of free resources in the thread in this group. Not in any particular order, but they are there. You just have to look.

I'm not talking about accepting the information on sites like Ancestry. I'm talking about the sites that teach you better methods of researching and/or provide you with new places to search. You should always use the clues but then follow up with viewing the sources for yourself.

I'm afraid I have gotten such bad info from several sites and am now afraid to branch out much. I just don't trust things I can't research and see in black and white. So often, even on Ancestry, when you click on something it says image not available. That is not just a no, it is a no way. If I had my way I would go to the library and spend hours searching there.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I am hooked on world Ancestry and have found sooooo much on it but not all.

It is terribly expensive so I must make use of the info...I don't pay for any other site.

I like Find a Grave but lately it seems to be slow when I click on it from my tree...

I also have received good info on Genealogy.com

I pay for Ancestry but there are limits to them so I take advantage of as many resources as I can. I am new to the DNA sites and want to know more about them. Lots of work to do.

Right now my genealogy time - like my exercise time and my reading time - is nearly non-existent. As I get back into my old routines I hope to take advantage of the free information. Like STLOUISWOMAN I can't afford to pay for the others.

I definitely do. Can't afford to take the ones that charge big bucks, but I've learned a lot from the free ones. Legacy Family Tree Webinars is a favorite of mine & they have them on any part you want to learn about. I also subscribe to several genealogy blogs & learn a lot from them. Facebook genealogy & DNA groups have also been some great teachers.

There are many free sources for learning more about better genealogy & DNA methodology. Do you take advantage of them? Why or why not?
