FORWARD.....so many times throughout the past 5-10 years I have felt like I am treading water. Not so much in the losing weight department but other aspects of my life. So I am focusing on moving FORWARD, instead of standing still and letting life spin around me.

I can't hear high beeps either because of profound and serious hearing loss coupled with severe tinnitus. I have a my mom's kitchen timer that I use for my toning workouts and when I see it getting close to 0 I have to pick it up so I can feel the vibration. The kids, though, JUMP, when the bell goes off. lol I'm that bad!

My word for 2018 is 'intentional'. Basically, DELIBERATE. I'm done with hemming and hawing and THINKING about getting the genealogy, photograph and craft room put to proper order.
I did well on both days of January so far.

My work is a bit different than most of them on here and is what someone on another group also mentioned --- Learn. I want to learn as much as I can this year, no matter what it is in.

Dave, I was watching Diagnosis Murder the other day and Dr. Sloan (Dick Van Dyke) had something similar to what you were talking about that you used last year. It went off every so often so that he would start moving.

My new Garmin fitness tracker gave me my word. As soon as I saw this question I knew what it was. My old Vivofit put up a gallant fight in trying to get it through to me. The new Fenix has perfected it. Vivofit had a red line visual cue and beeped when I had been sitting too long. Problem was, I'm about totally deaf in that frequency range and have tinnitus on top of that to blot out the beep. So it tried valiantly, but the success ratio was low. Enter the new Fenix that has a vibrate mode that I can actually feel. The vibration means that I have a phone message or got an email or that I have been sitting too long. When it's from sitting too long and I look at the watch it says one thing.... "MOVE!!". So that will be my word for the year.

My "one word" for last year was consistent. My back problem sure interfered with that, but I did try.

My 'one word" for this year is accountable.....only to myself, not to anyone else.

Last year I saw a suggestion to choose one word to be her motivation for the entire year. Since I don’t make resolutions, I thought this was a great idea. If you were to choose one word to guide you for this entire year, what would that word be? Why did you choose that word?

“If you’re like most people, each January goes something like this: You choose a problematic behavior that has plagued you for years and vow to reverse it. In fact, you can probably think of two or three undesirable habits—make that four or five.

Thus begins the litany of imperfections to be perfected commonly known as “New Year’s Resolutions.” All of which are typically off your radar by February.

“My One Word” is an experiment designed to move you beyond this cycle. The challenge is simple: lose the long list of changes you want to make this year and instead pick ONE WORD.

This process provides clarity by taking all your big plans for life change and narrowing them down into a single focus. Just one word that centers on your character and creates a vision for your future. “
