I used to read Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Read half of Dick and Jane the 1st day of 1st grade. Mostly I read anything with a dog or a horse in it.

I love to read. Even when I was a little girl I loved reading.

I like mysteries, memoirs, and will read most fiction except sappy romances, dystopia and horror.

Jackie, I was against E readers till I hurt my shoulder in an accident. Then e readers became a must, Now that I'm older my shoulder is better and I can read a book some, but the publishers have made the print so small it is back to my e reader. I can make the print anywise I want. Even change easy.

I started my own lending library almost as soon as I learned to read. No one in my family read but I had a book open every spare minute while growing up.

While raising kids I can't remember reading at all! I was working too - just no time.

After the kids left home I was able to get back to reading. I was a big promoter in our library, always had one book open and another ready to start...After retiring I started a book club that is still thriving on a small Caribbean Island.

Presently I have 3 or 4 books on my shelf from two libraries (never want to run out of a read) and read daily. No romance or si-fi,. Yes, to mysteries, some non-fiction, mostly recommendations from 3 book clubs I follow.

Sadly, lately I'm having a hard time reading regular print in the evening so am turning to Large Print books that gives me such a small selection. However, DH bought a kindle this month and is learning to use it (doesn't seem easy) and I will start reading on that especially for evening reading.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of May 2019. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2019 to be back to below 155.

I enjoyed reading as a kid but didn't do much more than pick up a magazine while raising the kids. Now i'm enjoying reading again. Everything from Romance to History.

There were many readers in my family and I followed suit. I used to buy books constantly, but ran out of space. I now buy only collectible (to me) books and e-books. Reading has been a lifelong pleasure for me.

My most recent purchase was a book of poetry written by a relative (I assume) of mine and signed by the author. My family name is pretty rare and there are probably less than a couple thousand of us in the world. I could go into detail about preferences and such, but it would go on forever. Let's just say I love to read.

Linda, your reading interests are like mine.

I like to read, but haven't been doing much lately since I have been trying to get a baby blanket done (and spending too much time on the computer). My favorite things lately are mysteries and Amish books. Some I've enjoyed recently are mysteries and cooking combined.

I do enjoy reading. It's been a life long passion. I recall teaching myself to read new words from Best Word Book Ever by Richard Scarry when I was four, in the back seat of my mom's car. LOL
In high school I started journals of books I read throughout the year. I prefer history, historical fiction and biographies on historical figures. I don't recall any older family members reading the way I do. I don't recall seeing any of my family reading, now that I think on it. My mom always read the newspaper though. My youngest son enjoys reading. Hello, my name is .... and I'm a bookaholic. ROFL

Love love love to read. Growing up, books were my best friends-kept me out of trouble, I do believe!

You really don't want me to list my favorites; it would take forever. In fact I do have a list on my information page. lol

I will try to keep it short. eek.

1. Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series (not the movies! the movies don't match the books)
2. Beverly Lewis's Amish book series Abram's Daughters. These are mystery romances. I believe there are 5 books. Each book solves a question in itself, but also eggs on another mystery that is not solved until the end of the last book.
3. Jane Austen-EXCELLENT for character lessons. If you want your highschool sons and daughters to learn how to spot good or bad character THESE are the books. Pride and Prejudice (the A& E movie is THE best version..can't top it.) Sense and Sensibility (favorite version is with Emma Thompson), Emma (two favorites: the one with Gwyneth Paltrow and the LONG version with Romola Garai...I don't rave over the one with Kate Beckinsale, but at least it's clean), and Persuasion (movie with Sally Hawkins).

All these books are CLEAN, even though they can contain adult topics. Each of the movies I mentioned are clean. There are versions that are not up to my approval. :) Each book inadvertently gives us lessons in choosing good partners, and not assuming the worst OR the best of someone.

I've read all these books through several times and .....now I want to read them again. lol

I've been an avid reader since I was 6 years old, and at 71 I still enjoy it. However, my tastes have changed. I read fiction through my teen years, though in high school I didn't have much time. My reading dropped back with marriage, children, a job, etc. For about the last 14-20 years I have been reading non-fiction. My husband and I share an interest in astro-archaeology and I am also an astrologer so I read a lot of technical books in my field.

I read, so does Mom, DB, all 4 DS, Both my children and 6 of my grandchildren. One is 22 months so I understand he doesn't read. As for what I read I love shorts, Short Stories are my favorite, but Prequels are close behind. I like fantasy action and adventure, but will read almost anything as a short story. But no anatomy lessons. Romances with TMI

Do you enjoy reading? If you do, is this a long time pleasure or a more recent one? What do you like to read? Do other members of your family also enjoy reading?
