Ohhhh yes. I'm remembering a time when someone I know had car trouble and couldn't leave on time for work, or something important. Turns out there was a wreck in the exact location and at the exact time he would have been there. So phew!
Of course, it sucks for the people that WERE involved in the wreck...

Agreeing with some of the comments and on another note, musically speaking, I like the Garth Brooks song "Unanswered Prayers". How many times have we thought we got shafted or were ignored did we actually come out on top in the end. There's gratitude to be found even in the negative.

I have tried keeping a journal, but I can never remember. I will usually see something or have something go on that I will be grateful for and will thank God for, but unless something reminds me I will forget. I try not to forget, though.

STRNGNGRNDED:

In my state one of the problems with getting state assistance is that you the card they give you is for FOOD. It doesn't give you access to other necessities like toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap and other body care items.

On the other hand, you are allowed to buy junk food.

I thought that was something that needed changed.

So when you learn that someone is on state assistance for food, please don't assume that they have their OTHER needs met, and maybe offer to buy them some of the other items.

See! I learned valuable information by being in a desperate situation! wink.

I make a point to say I'm grateful for something everyday.

I am grateful:
God.
My family.
Things that make me smile.
Things that challenge me.

I concur with SPARKINGRAMMY. In the mornings while I do my chores I thank God for all of my blessings; including things that aren't necessarily blessings, (like the issues I'm having with my car), and for the little things that so many take for granted that at one time in my life I couldn't afford: toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.

I live a life of gratitude, thanking God everyday for all he has blest me with. I have been blest with a wonderful husband, kids and grandkids, my health and a roof over my head. Never a day goes by that I don't thank God for all his blessings.

I am grateful to have been born when and where I was so that I am an American citizen so that I enjoy so many things including the freedoms we have.
I am grateful for my family.
I am thankful to still be able to move around as well as I do.
I have health problems but so many people are worse off than I.
I am grateful for our home.
I am grateful for our friends.
I am grateful for sufficient food.

So many things I'm grateful for and I thank my lord each evening - sometimes for the little t hings and always for life itself.

Now at "old age" if I can call it that because I don't acknowledge if I'm at old age yet...I reflect on my life and how it evolved to where I am now.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of May 2019. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2019 to be back to below 155.

I love to walk in the early morning before the sun is up and say think you for all the beauty I see in the night. I like to time my walk so I'm walking into the sunrise on my way home and be thankful for a new day.

I am a grateful person, but do not actively write my thankfulness in a journal.
It's interesting that people seem to feel better after listing what they are grateful for.
As a Christian, I have recently been made aware of the fact that went God sent His people into battle, the people who went FIRST, were those in charge of praising God. !!! Someone told me that there is POWER in PRAISE.
I would like to dig deeper in this topic and discover this for myself. But it's interesting that others have found similar results in their personal life because of gratefulness (which is most certainly a part of praising the God Who provides).

1. I am grateful for Christ.
2. I am grateful for second chances (spiritually, relationship-ly, and physically)
3. I am grateful for having had such a great family -my parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles -most of whom have now passed on. :(, siblings, cousins, children, and more.

May I live such a life that someday, folks will be grateful for ME.

History is the great teacher and most of us here are borderline history buffs at the very least. When you start digging in the family closet you kind of automatically get drawn into history. If history doesn't teach us gratitude, surely, nothing will. The horrors people have visited upon one another in the name of race, religion, politics, etc. The true miracles of modern medicine that keep us alive and comfortable for twice the lifespan of people who lived not too many years ago. The magic of sewers and "city water", horseless carriages, instant information and all the many other things we enjoy. Therein lies the key.... "enjoy". If we take all these things for granted and fail to notice or enjoy them, gratitude gets short shrift. I try to find something to be grateful for every day and think about it and how it got into my life. I still whine and complain more than I should, but actively thinking about my blessings will usually shut me up for awhile. For instance, I'm grateful for a place I can go spew like this and not get thrown in jail for my opinions. Wishing everyone a great day!

Ii have been living with an Attitude of Gratitude for several years. It seems to keep my life amazingly balanced. It's not a Pollyanna thing; it is a good reality check. I try to note things throughout the day. More than a year ago I made it a point to use my Spark Status to post an item of gratitude. I numbered them and got well into the 200s. My other rule was that I could never duplicate, so the usual platitudes of being grateful for family, good health, etc. would not make this a thoughtless routine. Once I got up around 260+/- I finally quit that project but continue to live with gratitude. Today I am grateful I was able to safely climb up and down a 10 foot ladder several times to clean out the gutters. I'm sure I will be more grateful tomorrow when my sore legs are feeling better!

Carol

November is National Gratitude Month. Do you make it a habit to practice gratitude? Have you ever kept a gratitude journal or added gratitude to your current journal? What are three things you are grateful for?
