Today I took a long walk and went to an art museum with a group of people. Then I took another walk and went home and did Turbo Fire. I also lost a pound this week so I'm feeling pretty good!

It's been a very long day for me today with a LOT of walking done ( about 5.5 hours total) and I'm going to put my feet up and relax with a good book tonight. Went and paid bills and bought groceries for 2 weeks. When hubby goes grocery shopping with me it means going more places and I get in a lot more walking.

Hi, guys. Nice to post here, nice to see you, syzygi (did I get that right?) Managing wise choices and control in tempting situations is a HUGE challenge! I commend anyone who tries! Fitness can be flexible so a home workout really does count! You guys are doing great! Spark ON!

Awesome job, Seagirl! I have trouble doing things like that when I do eat out. Fortunately, I don't eat out too often. I also get self-conscious about making special requests.

Urgh.

I planned to go to the gym today, but took a long walk and cleaned my apartment instead. I met my fitness minutes goal for the week already so I don't feel guilty.

(Hi, by the way...I pop in so rarely that I doubt anyone knows me. I'm trying to widen my circle of SparkFriends!)

Omg, tonite was our meal out, the one day of the week where I eat my "whatever I want within (some modicum) of reason" meal. We went to the restaurant a few blocks away, famous for it's creole-cajun cuisine, ie. tres fattening!. We didn't stop there, one little drink gave us the bright idea to stop at the store for a slice of cake to share and ice cream. I also thought it clever to grab some hot fudge...Luckily, I haven't missed a day of exercise in nearly a month and I love that I could make a choice to eat this without guilt.

What did I do right?
I took one tiny piece of the crazy good cornbread, placed it on a plate, and used my fork to sample it, eating less than half of a 2" piece.
Salad dressing on the side, dipped my fork in it and still had a full cup of it when I was done.
Ordered the fish instead of burger.
Asked for it to be cooked as dry as possible - light oil/butter.
Ordered the sauce on the side (thankfully, it didn't even need it)
Measured the light vanilla ice cream only 1/2 cup
Measured the hot fudge, only used half.
Scraped the frosting off the cake, plus it was way too sweet after eating so healthy for so long!

Yay me!
Now, to go log all this stuff on my tracker.....:)

Yes, beware Zax Sauce! :) I used to dip my zax fries in it when I was done with the chicken, until it was all gone...omg! Also, the seemingly innocent texas toast...DON'T EAT IT! 29 grams of fat! as much as you would have in a whole day just spread onto the toast! YUCK!

YEA BABY! yea. Knowledge is power!
Last night I didn't want to cook, so I asked if my honey would bring home a 15 point sonic mustard burger and I, of course, would cut it in half, fill the rest of my plate with a salad and baked fries, for 11 points total. (Weight Watchers PointsPlus). I went on to Zaxbys and found that 3 chix fingrz is the same 7 points and a lot more filling, so you bet I went with the chicken. (by the way, I rarely eat fast food anymore, less than 1x per month or less). I also looked up that innocent little zax sauce cup...5 points & 17 grams of fat - more fat than the fried chicken! I measured out an exact teaspoon of it and put it on my plate and it was all I needed! The little sauce cup was still full! I saved about 15 grams of fat and didn't even miss it!

...The more you know!!! emoticon

You totally rock! Way to go!

Promises,

Are you using the nutrition tracker to the fullest? Do you know you can use suggested fat/protein/carb guidelines to plan your meals? You can also click the reports at the bottom right of the tracker to see how your daily breakdown compares to the suggested one. This way, you can monitor a little better and this may be the very thing that gets the scale moving. It worked for me! I found out I wasn't eating enough healthy fat, and once I started matching my intake to the guidelines, guess what? I started losing! AND I wasn't as hungry!

Another thing is your movement. Do you exercise hard enough to actually work up a sweat for at least 5-10 minutes at a time? This is the only time your body will burn fat, when you are struggling to talk or sing. Try adding some cardio that really makes your heart pump for about 5 minutes to start, then move up. Any movement is great for your body, but the sweating will take you off your plateau, I promise!

I bet you'll see a change next week if you focus on your nutrition this week.

After a 10 day hiatus from getting on the scale I got on the scale per doctor's orders and found I had regained 10 lbs I had lost so I'm back to square one.

i tried going to the team mentioned and i did not get anywhere.

i also just found a volunteer group that meets for 2 hours once a week. it involves sewing. but it does not meet in the summer.

I don't know about your old encounters or about any negative ninnies, but I will say that I have found no need to hide as long as you are yourself and you think about your words before you post them. It's important to be encouraging and this is no place for demeaning language. In fact, there are very few places for that (I make an exception for the cable company). IMPORTANT........

I owe each of you an apoligy. It's me Vicki. I left the team, planning to never return all because one woman said some very hateful things to me and my skin wasn't thick enough to just let it go. It wasn't anyone from this team. It was someone on a team I was planning to join that knew me and my weight loss struggles, and she felt she had the right to put me down. And by leaving, I let her win. Then I came back to sp, thinking I'd just not let anyone know who I was and go on from there. But I'm not a dishonest person by nature and I need to be who I am. Either you love me or hate me. If you don't like me, don't say anything to me.
I know we're all here basically for the same reason and that's to get healthier, whether it's losing weight or just getting more activity into your day. We don't need anyone putting us down because they don't agree with what we're doing or else they feel like we're just playing at it.
My weight loss struggles have been going on most of my life but it's been really bad the past few years. I struggle to find a way that I can live with and it makes me sound really stupid at times. But if any of you are really struggling, maybe you can understand a little of where I'm coming from.
I fully intend to post most of this in a blog, so I'm being open and above board. But I wanted to try to explain to ya'll and ask you to forgive me for leaving like I did in the first place, then pretending to be someone else when I came back.
From now on, I'm me, take me as I am or not at all.

Got a compliment from a classmate yesterday saying that it looks like I am losing weight. I'm glad somebody can see it because I can't. I see it on the scale but not in how my clothes are fitting. Well at least the scale is going down and not up. I might not be losing 1 lb a week like I had hoped but a little is better than nothing. Planning on walking today as long as the rain stays away.

Weighed myself today and I am down 1/2 pound. Was hoping for a pound but any loss is a good loss. Yesterday I went over my calories a little but I did get free Green Ice Cream. Spending the day with my daughter and church and the park as long as the weather cooperates. I've noticed my favorite type of exercise is going to the park with her. Have a happy Sunday.

the email sent to the team was about turning down treats at work. I'll admit i bring stuff in, but i will sometimes make things out of whole grain or whole grain pastry flour.

Healthy eating at potlucks can still be possible. The secret is portion size, or trying to stay busy with other tasks so people don't notice that you are eating any, Another option is to bring a healthy option. others with the same goals will also be supportive and bring better options.

The scale is going back in the right direction. I am only 3 lbs heavier than I orignally wanted to be at this time. My goal is to lose 1lb a week. Now that I am healthy gonna try and exercise every day.

Today I looked at my medical records online and it dawned on me that I've actually done it! I've lost all the weight that I put on during my pregnancy. I'm around the same weight I was 5 years ago. Which means that I had put on extra weight during my first couple of years of my married that is now my goal to shred. I'm only 13 lbs. away from the weight I was just before I got married and I'm now under 30 lbs. to my ultimate goal. I remember at the end of 2010 I was back up to 185 lbs. and I've lost over 20 lbs since that time. It's amazing to me.

Not how I had planned to spend my spring break - having bronchitis. Now that I am starting to feel better i'm trying to do things that don't tire me out so much. I had planned on working out everyday but when I got sick on Friday that plan was shot down. Not were I want to be weight wise also but at least i'm losing and not gaining (at least in inches)

Maybe get outside a little more? And take Vit D. I get that way a lot when it's overcast and dreary because there's no sun. I don't have the energy or desire to make food, and then I want carbs and sugar and well that just spirals!!

It seems that I have been eating out more lately and making bad choices. Then after the bad choices I don't feel like exercising because I feel bad about myself. so it's a circle of doom so to speak. anyone have any ideas.??

I would love suggestions on how to get my weekends more in-line with how I eat and exercise through the work week. I feel really stuck because by the time the weekend rolls around my food supply is low and DH wants to eat out and then when I meet up with my friends they want to eat out. It's like I can't get anyone to do anything but sit down and eat. It's so frustrating because I'm so good during the week. And the worst part of eating out I don't like the way I feel after eating (high fat, high sodium foods makes my body feel horrible). Maybe I can start saying that I'm allergic to restaurant food? ;) I wish I could figure out how to eat out.

I don't want to hog this discussion so if you have any ideas, please add them to my blog (The curse of weekends). Thank you in advance!

I have gained 1 lb since last week and almost three pounds heavier than I had hoped to be at this time. I figure the 1 lb is from my muscles being sore from helping a friend move.

I have not been motivated to keep losing. My pants are fitting well again (gained a bit over holidays) so i have not been using much willpower or caring as much about sticking to my goal. For lent, i decided to give up some bad habits. i am hoping by the end of lent i will have changed them completely and can start losing more again and not need to worry about gaining the rest of the year

Hi - we have Lenten services, too. At my church, we include skits in the Lenten services. I will be the wife/mom - and over the course of the weeks, I need to age from about 30-35 years old to about 45-50 years old to about 70 years old. We seem to find skits that balance having a good message with some humor.

It's a lovely day here today. Around 82 degrees. We went and paid bills then bought a bunch of groceries. Had to go to 4 different stores. Bob uses the electric shoppping carts to ride in but I walk all over the place. Walked a good 3 hours. I'll know it later when I sit down to watch TV for awhile. My legs will start stiffening up on me.

I got the break in the rain yesterday and my husband came walking with me. It is colder today than yesterday. I'm planning on going for a walk and taking a pilates and zumba class tonight if I can get out of work on time.

Hi Everyone,
We went and looked at chest type freezers after lunch and decided to go ahead and get one as an early anniversary present to each other. (anniversary is in April). Our landlord bought our old upright freezer (it was 16 years old) and already took it out. Our new freezer will be delivered between 3pm and 7pm today. So I've been rearrainging the kitchen so I'd have better access to the freezer. Had to move the huge butcher block bakers rack Bob built me and temperarly move the butcher block table ( he also built me ) just til they bring in the freezer, then it can be put back in place. It means a new monthly bill to pay for it, but we really needed a new one. And I prefer the chest type to an upright. I think they freeze things better.
Anyway I really worked up a sweat what with moving stuff then cleaning where things had been for so long. Got in plenty of exercise today.

Did well my first week back on SP....lost 2 lbs. Went to a shower with a buffet of sweets on Sunday and had a few. Slipped back a little yesterday too.....I got on the scales this morning.... emoticon and gratefully I didn't put any back on. So back to being sensible ....

Today was a day of highs and lows. It started out with a job interview (will find out within 2 weeks if I get another interview) and exercising for 75 minutes. It ended with my husband telling me that my mom had to put my/her cat Nick down. He was 17 years old. We got him 4 months after losing my dad. Now my son has another animal to play with in heaven. This is the second cat of mine to die since Christmas. He was the last of the pets from my childhood. I wish death would leave me alone for a while but that hasn't happened. Feeling sad right now. That is the reason my emoticon for the day is the one crying.

So two days after my last weigh in. that didn't go well however, I have veggies again and fruit so things should look up. Hoping to work out with the WII later today. Spending time with friends this afternoon.

Hello All

I have been sick so have not been on here for a week or so. Have not been eat ing what I should just what hubby made. Have not been working out so I have put on three pounds. not happy about that but kind of knew it would happen.

I am feeling much better and will be getting back to my workouts tomorrow. i am going to be doing the cooking again so things should be looking up.
