Mostly from scratch but I agree that brownies are better from a mix. I just made some from scratch from a recipe on this site and they were ghastly!

I do both. I like mixes for their convenience, and not infrequently make up my own, divide into parts the right size for 2 servings, and store in repurposed coffee tins. Easier to get a healthy mix that way! emoticon

Used to always make sweets from scratch since I usually was taking them to get together of some sort, meals sometimes from scratch. However, since having children, one who is a major momma's boy, everything seems now to be from a box, even my meals. I would like to to do more meals from scratch but with my husband hating onions, peppers, and mushrooms and both my boys pretty much hating everything that is good for them it just seems so hard and a waste of time to make from scratch.

I prefer to cook everything from scratch, better ingredients and more control. Except for box cake mixes, maybe I should change that, too. I really love to cook and to bake.

I don't use mixes often, but that's because I don't want sweets around, so I don't bake as much as I used to. If I need cake or brownies for something, I will use a mix. I also used to keep Krusteaz around for Saturday morning pancakes. Hubby likes to make the "break n' bake" chocolate chip cookies. However, I do make pizza dough and bread dough from scratch with my bread machine, and make banana bread from scratch as well.

I use jar spaghetti sauces sometimes to make a quick weeknight dinner, but I also like to can my own homegrown tomatoes and make sauces from that. More and more I'm avoiding thinks like red beans and rice mix and making from scratch due to the high sodium content of the mix. I also make most of my marinades and sauces from scratch to control the sugar and sodium, and it ends up saving a lot of money, too!

Voluntary Discomfort is the secret cornerstone of strength. We build our whole lives around increasing comfort and avoiding discomfort, and yet by doing so we are drinking a can of Weakness Tonic with every morning’s breakfast. ~Mr. Money Mustache

Almost always from scratch... but some things I bake, like brownies, aren't as good from scratch as from the mix I buy!

Baked goods except angel food cake from scratch...
Pasta sauce usually a mix with added ingredients.
Pancakes mostly from scratch.
I guess I would have to say...most things from scratch...a few take out like pizza and chinese food. Since I am eating healthier, there is more and more simple, cean foods and less already prepared or mixes.

I use both mixes and recipes like you do, but there is one thing that I feel is just better from a mix and that is brownies. I use different brands including a really luscious one from Trader Joes, and embellish them in different ways. I make brownies for covered dish occasions. They are always gone, when it is time to go home. I think cake mixes are great. I scratch make pancakes, and nut breads. It just depends on my mood. I make cookies from scratch always.
I like the spice mixes and slow cooker mixes too. I never use the noodle or mac and cheese boxes. Way too salty.

I can honestly say most of the time I am an old fashioned type of gal and make baked goods from scratch. I do cheat with cakes for birthdays using mixes but the frosting is homemade. I LOVE the breadmaker.

Pretty mucheverything by mixes. I used to cook more from scratch, but the older I get, the more I feel like I don't have the time. Kind of sad. Maybe I will challenge myself to cook from scratch more often.

Mostly mixes. When I get really ambitious I "try" scratch! Sometimes that results in using a mix or calling for delivery OR just going out!

A little of both; my daughter is a chef (or is it chef-ette!!) and she's trying to get me to do everything from scratch; the taste makes all the difference according to her! And her cooking is phenomenal so I can't argue!

Generally I try to do from scratch, because I find most mixes (especially the choc ones) have hydrogenated oil in them which I try as much as possible to stay away from.

From scratch, using as healthy ingredients as possible. I don't bake at all since I prefer not to have cakes, cookies etc in the house.

Our main meals are made (by me) at Dream Dinners, using their very high quality fresh stuff. I supplement those meals with either fresh or frozen veggies, rice, beans and fresh fruit.

The one thing that I do resort to a mix, is for my morning oatmeal. I prepare a packet of oatmeal during my break at work.

Borh, depending on my time and how fancy it is. If I have to go and buy a dozen expensive ingredients that will only be used once, a mix is better. But mostly scratch as it is more fun and I can exchange ingredients for healthier ones.

I bake cakes both ways. My yellow or white cakes with a mix, my chocolate cake by scratch.
I make pancakes using a mix if I have one but by scratch if I don't.
I make pizza's from scratch or sometimes I use purchased pita bread instead of making a crust and then add toppings.
I make spaghetti sauce by scratch or I sometimes use a purchased jar of sauce.
