Donna (LYNCHD05), I am very sorry about the knee and I mean it! I am barely coming out of the hellish surgery. I am still having problems even though I walked the mile at the Turkey Trot. I did it to prove to myself that I could in spite the misery. I hope you don't need surgery and can do okay with just physical therapy.

Karen (BLUESTARMOM), I admire your creativity. I can't do any crafts unless they come in a kit with instructions. emoticon I hope you can post photos of your blankets here or in a blog. I think people would appreciate it.

Today I was going to go to a writer's group that's for fun but didn't feel like getting up early on the Saturday after Thanksgiving so I will go next week. Today I hope to do some needed laundry, some cleaning and get rid of some stuff so I can decorate for Christmas. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! emoticon

LOVE, CHELSEA

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We went next door to my son and DIL's house. It was really nice. I took a ham, my mom's recipes for sweet potato souffle, chocolate pie, and pimento stuffed celery. We left everything over there, so no temptations here. It was really nice.
The only Black Friday shopping I did was JoAnn's for yarn. I'm crocheting blankets for my grandkids for Christmas. I've got 5 done so far and bought yarn for 4 more.

Awesome news Chelsea. I know I could not have done that so soon after my tkr. Thatís pretty amazing. Yes, resting and icing would be a good plan today and of course the exercises are important too.

Bad news for me....my other knee is acting up just as we are planning on heading south. Hopefully it will be better in the warm weather of California.

Hello everybody! I am SO glad to be back! I have been so busy with working, then not working, job interviews, and hired! I have a job with Publix and I am looking forward to it. I hope to start soon.

I hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. This time of year is so busy but also full of family time and wonderful holidays.

Guess what? I completed one mile at the Turkey Trot! I did it in 17 min. 11 seconds! I am hurting today so I won't be doing that any time soon but I did it to prove to myself that I wasn't an invalid because of this knee. emoticon Now I need to keep going and do my exercises, etc.

Thanks for your support and always keeping track of me. God bless you. emoticon

How's my favorite team this morning? Haven't heard from you in awhile Chelsea, hope you are doing okay.

At work, just two of us today. We are hoping to skip out of here around one or so. The past superintendents used to let us leave at 1 the day before a holiday, but not this new superintendent. He's probably on vacation. There's not a lot of us here at the central office today. I have some loose ends I want to clear up before I leave so I guess I better get busy. LOL!!

Hope all my American team members have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Try and focus on a memory that's not food related. Hopefully next Thanksgiving you'll be able to remember something from this year other than the food you had. I'm wracking my brain right now trying to remember what we did last year. Must have spent it with my ds and dil since that's the only family in town. This year they are at my brother's in Missouri with my mom. I wish I was there. My mom met Destiny for the first time yesterday. My dil was sending me pictures and a video last evening that cheered me up.

I need to get going and see what I can get done this morning. Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

Shirley this is a good year to have a low key Thanksgiving. I am sure both you and your hubby would rather do that.

Off to physio this morning for Dh. This is a very slow progress..

Back to work, further behind than I even thought. Oh well! It will get done when I can. Thankfully everyone is out this week except for me and 2 other secretaries. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot done.

Karen, I still have problems sometimes with my knee replacements and it's been several years since I had them done. The pain usually goes away. I found out I don't have nearly the problems when I'm exercising consistently. I really need to make an appt. to go see my ortho, been too long and he's going to fuss at me about my weight and not coming in every year. If he'd quit fussing about my weight I wouldn't mind going so much. I know he has good intentions, but I know I'm overweight and hate when Drs. harp on it.

I'm not cooking this year. Couldn't see the point for two people. We are going to Boston Market, they are having all the fixings of a Thanksgiving Dinner with dessert for about $13. I'm so glad I don't have to wrestle with a turkey and do all that clean up. My dil's mom invited us to come to their house but my ds and dil are visiting my side of the family and her parent's are not my favorite people plus she said they were going to have a big crowd. I finally got her to understand I just don't want to be around a lot of people. She had good intentions though.

Guess I should get something done. Not sure where to start. LOL!

Ladies, the first holidays without loved ones is difficult. Karen having special things that your Mom made will be good memories for the family.

Hope your knee settles down. Having to stand all day does not help for sure.

Busy day here plus the kids are coming for dinner which is great. It will be nice to see a face other than doctors for a change...

Life is pretty low,key here with hubby still not doing great. One day at s time.....

Shirley, I'm glad you made it home safely. It sounds like we are both going to have a rough Thanksgiving. I was grocery shopping yesterday and I almost broke down in the store. I really miss my mom. I'm making her chocolate pie, sweet potato casserole, and pimento cheese stuffed celery for Thanksgiving. She was such a good cook, and so many memories center around family meals and celebrations (wonder why I have to work so hard to lose weight lol).

We only have 2 days of school this week. Our big kindergarten "feast" is Tuesday. We dress like pilgrims and native americans and feast on deli turkey, popcorns, cornbread muffins, dried fruit and pumpkin pie. It's a lot of fun.

I have been crocheting like crazy. I decided to make blankets for the grandkids for Christmas. I'm using blanket yarn, which crochets fairly quickly and have been averaging a blanket a week. I'm on blanket #4 lol.

My knee has been bothering me. It's usually when I first stand up that I get a sharp pain and hobble about for a bit before it settles down. I'm not sure what's going on. I keep telling myself that with my other TKR I was still having some problems 6 months out and it will resolve itself just like the last one.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

I'm back home, I'm so glad to be back home and so is my dh. He even brought me a rose to the airport. He's so sweet! We missed each other a great deal, it was hard to face all this without him. The service was yesterday, seems like a long time ago. It was very nice. My aunt and uncle came, he's an Episcopal Priest so he did the service. I asked it to be short and it was. It was very nice. My oldest brother came with his wife. He was never close to dad. I think he needed some closure. I did very well. I'm usually very emotional but I made it through without a tear. Some other relatives came that I haven't seen in a very long time and then we had a nice meal afterwards. We were able to get my dad's things all packed up. That was a relief. It was a hard week, I was home alone a lot. They don't have internet or cable service and I was way out in the country so I couldn't go anywhere. I shed a lot of tears this week. I still don't think it has fully hit me, I still get teary eyed when I think that he is gone. Now my stepmom isn't doing good. They had to rush her to the hospital last night. Bronchitis and dehydrated. I hope she's doing better. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers, it really helped knowing so many people were thinking of me. Back to work on Monday. I'm ready! Been almost two weeks since I was sick the week dad died.
Hope you feel better Karen and that Mike is doing better. I hope you get some rest during your time off. The kids here are off the entire week, I have Thursday and Friday off.
So glad your dh is doing better Donna.

Hope your feeling better soon ĎKaren. Nothing wrong with a good whiskey toddy!!!

Went to the orthopedist this morning so things are getting better as Dh is not taking as much pain meds......that has to be a positive. This is going to be a long recovery and he has lots of exercises to do.....

Sad events and sickness seem all the worse the closer they are to a holiday, especially a happy family time like thanksgiving or Christmas. My mum passed on Dec. 15, 2007 and it took me several years to feel remotely festive again. Thinking of you too Shirley. emoticon
Karen - emoticon My dad used to swear by hot rum toddies as a sure fire remedy for those anonymous bugs. How's your dh doing?
Donna - sounds like your dh is in for a long recovery. Will you be celebrating Christmas in Canada this year?
Craft sales are in full swing here, especially this w/e - 6 to choose from in several surrounding towns! I used up all my energy grocery shopping this morning, so the rest of today is out. Might get to the Santa Claus parade and fireworks though. Time to get the gifts ready for Nova Scotia relatives, so better get shopping somewhere soon. emoticon

Sending prayers for Shirley. It's really tough, especially so close to the holidays.
I hope everyone is having a good week. I've been struggling with some kind of bug, but strep and flu tests were negative. Drinking lots of tea with honey and lemon (and a shot of whiskey at night) has helped. My knee does not like this crazy weather. I'm looking forward to the extra days off next week. We are off Wed. Thurs. and Fri. I decided to crochet blankets for my grandkids, so I'm crocheting like a mad woman lol.

Oh my goodness I did not get any of these posts.

Shirley my condolences to you and your family. What a shock!!! I am glad you are able to go and be with your family. It is important at a time like this. I am sure your hubby is upset that he cannot leave. Hugs and prayers going your way.

Karen, you really have your hands full right now. I canít believe your hubby is not in a facility that would care for him for awhile. I canít imagine how you are managing with all that your need to do for him plus your job. You definitely need help. Hugs going out your way too.

Shirley, I'm so very sorry. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sorry I dropped off the face of the Earth again. Mike fell and broke his ankle. He's an amputee, so he only has one leg and now he's completely non weight bearing. It's all been a huge mess. The hospital kept him as an outpatient so he can't go to rehab. Then they sent him home in an ambulance because he can't get into a car. We have to use a board to slide him into his wheelchair and into bed. It's been a nightmare. And then I had end of term grades, parent teacher conferences, stupid testing, and our big veteran's day program. My knee is killing me- I think I've got tendonitis again. Ugh. But we are surviving. I will try to catch up on posts later.

I'm sad to say my dad died during surgery this evening. I'm in shock, overwhelmed and devastated. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. I'm leaving early Sunday to fly up there. I'll be gone all week. I'm going alone, dh can't go and I'm really sad about that. We've never been apart this long before. Going to be a tough week on all of this. The hardest part was telling my Aunt. She's in disbelief. None of my siblings are going. I need strength to get through this week. Thanks everyone. I can't check in because WiFi is very scarce up there. My stepbrother doesn't even have a cell phone. Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Shirley it sounds like your Dad is in good hands. I know how bad you feel that you are not there but just remember if it was you living close by you would be doing exactly as your brother is doing.

Still sick, stayed home for the fourth day this week. I'm ready to be done with this. My in-box at work is getting full. I'm so far behind. I finished sorting pictures and a cross stitch bookmark for my mom. Now I'm trying to get stuff together for my ds to take to Missouri for my brother and my mom. I so wish I was going.

My dad didn't do so good yesterday. I got a phone call at midnight, thought for sure it was "the call" my stepbrother said that my dad's blood pressure had dropped too low so they were calling in a team to do some kind of procedure. My dad was asking for my stepbrother, so bless his heart he was making that long drive up there at midnight, I felt so bad for him. He stayed until this morning. Poor guy. I'm so thankful for him. Today they are going to put in a permanent pacemaker. Hope this helps.

It's been in the 60's the last few days, now the temp is supposed to really drop, the high will be in the 50's this weekend. I know that's nothing for most of you but for us that's pretty cold in the south. LOL! I'm so spoiled. We just turned off our air conditioning this week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm going to go medicate myself again. emoticon

Good Morning!

After spending all night coughing on Tues. night I went to the Dr. yesterday, sure enough I have bronchitis and a sinus infection. I slept a little better last night but have been up since like 2:30 I just couldn't sleep. DH is working from home today and it's raining out, so glad I didn't have to go out in that this morning. I guess the office is closed today, I feel bad about not being there but the Dr. insisted I stay home today, I'm kind of glad she did. I felt awful last night. The antibiotics are starting to kick in and she gave me some cough syrup. Feeling better today.

How's your dh doing Donna? Hope he's finding some relief. Has he started PT yet?

I've been sorting through pictures and trying to finish cross stitching a bookmark for my mom, at least I'm being productive right? Supposed to go back to work tomorrow, I need to.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Everyone,

I'm sick and now I'm thinking this may not be a virus after all and that I should have gone to the Dr. I'm so hoping I will wake up in the morning and feel 100% better. I really need to be at work on Thursday, I'm going to be the only one there I found out. I've missed so much work since October. I'm so far behind at work. I stayed home, my boss and coordinator are leaving to go to a conference in Arizona for the next 3 days and the other coordinator is pregnant, sure don't want to give any of them anything. Figured it was best that I stayed home, I feel too awful to even think about sitting at work anyway. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

My dad called me today, he's scheduled to have a stent put in tomorrow afternoon and the valve replacement on Thursday, please keep him in your prayers. Again the guilt hits me because I'm not there. It's just the way it is. On Sunday night they had really bad storms and a tornado hit the cemetery where my grandparents are buried and where my dad and stepmom have their gravestones. I saw pictures on Facebook and the destruction is incredible. They said the actual cemetery looks much worse then the pictures showed. Just made me sick. My stepbrother lost power to their small grocery store all day yesterday. I feel bad for them.
Going back to bed. TTYL!

I'm happy to see the end of Daylight Savings time, not only for the extra hour of sleep. Standard Time is getting back to normal for me - who knows why emoticon Cold, snow and slippery roads kept me home all weekend except for attending a roast beef dinner fundraiser for our community hall on Sat. night. Great food and entertainment - a local band featuring an amazing steel guitar player. And of course church on Sunday followed by brunch at the rec centre cafe..guess I wasn't so housebound after all!
Must bundle up and go for a walk soon to blow away the cobwebs.
emoticon Chelsea and congrats on your new job.

Switching time does not bother me when I get an extra hour of sleep.
Off to the gym this morning then nice to do some chores around here. Depending on the weather I could fit in a walk today. It is really chilly here so I have to switch to a warmer coat....

Good Morning Everyone!

It's Monday! I hate the time change. I could barely stay awake in church and just wanted to go home and take a nap. I did lay down and doze for a little bit. Then I had to get up and face reality, dinner had to be cooked, clothes needed to be folded and put away, lunches needed to be packed. I was going to stay up to watch Hallmark last night and instead I went to bed at 8:30. Sure was hard to get up this morning. Traffic was a bear and there was a bad fuel spill exactly the way I come to work so I was stuck there for awhile. The upside was it was daylight when I drove in today. Usually it's pitch black. I know it won't last long but I will enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Welcome back Chelsea, we missed you! Congratulations on your new job, I hope all works out well for you and that you will be there for a long time. I've been in this office 10 years now, this is pretty much my dream job, I'm so blessed to work with such a great group of people. We have the best boss too. She'll be retiring soon and we don't even want to think about it. Do you like your new job? What are you doing?
I'll let you know about that meal when I get it. Which one are you thinking about using? Mine is Healthy Fresh I think, I can't even remember. LOL!

Donna so glad your dinner went well with your friends! Hoping your dh starts to feel better soon.
I guess I better start working, I'm so far behind!

How are you doing, Lyn? You always support others and are concerned about your husband. I hope you are doing well since I know you have a lot of stress. emoticon

Shirley, I have read about those meals delivered to your home. I found a website that doesn't require that a person sign up for regular deliveries. I think I will try it after the holidays. Sounds intriguing to me and if I like the recipes, I can copy them and do them myself. Let me know how you like it. emoticon

Hi everyone! I haven't been here for about 2 weeks and I am sorry. I have been looking for a job and getting my knee stronger. I did find a job and started a week ago but I don't know if I will be keeping it. I wrote a blog about that: https://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_j
ournal_individual.asp?blog_id=6427719

I will be talking to my boss tomorrow and asking her if she feels this is the right job for me. If not, I will work the polls on Tuesday. If I still have the job, I will find someone to replace me on Tuesday. My knee is still tender and I know I have to be careful. Can't wait till the day when this knee is "normal"!

LOVE, CHELSEA

Dinner went well last night and it was great to sit and chat with friends. Everyone was gone by 9:30 so it was not a late night. Isnít it nice that old people are so sensible!!!

Donna that's good news about dh's arm. Poor guy I can't even imagine the pain. I'm hoping that PT will help (I'm sure it will though) and that he won't need surgery. Such a relief to know the pain is from the break and not something else. Good for you both to have friends over for dinner. It's nice to get your mind off of your problems. Let us know how it went.

Ran errands yesterday and did some food prep. So glad that's done. It's so nice to just reach in the fridge and grab a salad for lunch each day. Today after church I will cook a big pot of goulash and we will eat on that for a couple of days. I make a big meal on Sundays a lot so that it cuts down on my cooking during the week.

The new rage is meals delivered to your door with all of the ingredients so I've ordered our first box. Thankfully if we don't like it we can cancel and got a low introductory price for trying it. I'm excited to see how it turns out. Will be trying it in a few weeks. Not sure why I chose a date so far out. It's 3 meals for 2 people. I usually cook just plain meals these are more gourmet. Stepping out of my comfort zone and hoping it's good.

Started sorting through pictures again yesterday. Put my ds's scrapbook on hold so I can get reorganized. I need to get going on it again soon so that I can get it finished before next May.

Need to get moving and get ready for church. Hope everyone has a great day!

We are back from the doctor and there is nothing else wrong other than the break. That is the good news. Ow he want him to go to physio therapy which I think is a good idea. He needs to get that arm moving. His wrist and elbow were both so sore that we were afraid something else was wrong. If he does not have improvement soon they may have to operate. Not something he wants to look forward to.

You have a busy weekend ahead Shirley. It is probably good that you are not babysitting....

Good Morning Everyone! TGIF!!!! I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm wiped out after all of the travel and stress of last week.

What's everyone up to this weekend? I was supposed to babysit Destiny but when my dad got so sick I told my dil to find someone else. I'm glad I did I'm just not up to babysitting. We have a lot of errands to run tomorrow, prepping food for next week, church on Sunday and I believe we are going to go to a movie tomorrow night. We also need to start cleaning out the office and moving furniture around. My dh's last day in his office is Nov. 30th so we really need to get going. We also need to make a trip to his office one Sat. and pack up his stuff. A lot going on!

Donna, so glad you insisted on your dh going back to the Dr. I really think after a month he should be doing a lot better. Hope the appt. goes well. Keep us posted. Will be praying for your dh and you.

Traveling is expensive! Our cruise is $1000. Then the gas to get there, money for the ship and excursions. Then 3 nights in Gainesville for dil's graduation. Thankfully we will eat most meals at ds and dil's house. DS is a great cook!
I have a question. I've been trying to figure out what kind of gift to give my dil for her graduation from Vet School next year. Does anyone have any ideas?
Back to work!

We were scheduled to go back to the doctor in two weeks but I told my hubby it was too long when he is suffering so much. He called the doctor this mirn8ng and we got an appointment to see him tomorrow. We will see what happens. It has been a month and I think there should be some improvement in that time......

emoticon Shirley, You'll be emoticon I'm so glad to hear that your Dad is finally getting the treatment he needs. A big relief for you as well.

Donna - Sorry that your dh is still suffering so much. After a couple weeks, you'd think there would be some improvement. Maybe time for a second opinion, like Shirley says. I'm sure the disappointment over not going south isn't helping.

Laurie - With today's rising prices, you sure have to be alert for bargains. We've started planning a trip to Newfoundland next summer & are already surprised at the accomodation prices. Of course, my favourite (bed and breakfast) seems the most expensive, especially in the capital city, St. John's. More research needed for sure.

Halloween is pretty quiet for us always. Since the cousins' children grew up, we've had no trick or treaters at all, being too far off the beaten path. Didn't even see the black barn cat all day - he was probably off riding on a witch's broomstick!
Have a great day everyone. emoticon

Donna, I'm so sorry you aren't heading south today. I am keeping you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers. I sure hope your husband gets to feeling better soon. I agree I would be tired of sleeping in the chair at night too. Maybe calling the Dr. would be a good idea with all of the pain and swelling still. I'm glad you're able to get out and go work out. I'm sure that helps a lot. It's hard to be a caretaker. emoticon

Laurie, that's such great news that you found that reduced price and got credit! Good for you! Now I'm trying to figure out how much money we should save for on the ship expenses. I'm sure dh will want the soda package, me, not so much. I'd rather have water. I looked at some of the excursions and they don't even appeal to me, so maybe we will just go to the market. I've heard that we should be careful in the market place.

By all means put me down to help out. I will try and get on here everyday and help out the best I can.

My dad called me last night, he's in great spirits! He was such a bear that first day I was there. They had a Halloween party at the home and that's all he talked about in the hospital. He got his picture taken with a mask on and they posted it on their page on Facebook. My sister in law must have lit a fire under someone Monday. The hospital is sending out someone to take blood tomorrow. If it comes back normal then he will be having both heart procedures done one day next week and it's outpatient. While I was there it seemed like no one could decide when or what to do so I'm glad it's moving forward and hoping this will help him.
Thanks for all of the prayers. Much appreciated.

Chelsea hope you are doing okay! Missing you!

We were suppose to be south as of today but 8 have no idea when we will be able to go. It has been a month and he is still not doing well. He is trying to do the exercise but it hurts him so much and his hand is so swollen. We do not go back to the doctor until the 17th but if things donít get better soon I will call him. He still canít sleep in a bed so,he is pretty tired of the chair.

Gym workout this morning which makes me feel so much better.

We only got a couple trick-or-treaters the first year in our condo, so now we don't buy candy. They don't come to the door if the porch light is off.I noticed the neighbors across the street had their lights on, but haven't talked with them to see if they got any kids coming by.

Shirley, that's a really good hotel rate. It seems that the rates in Ft. Lauderdale have skyrocketed during high cruise season. Don't know what the other ports are like, but I suspect Miami is high, too. We are sailing out of Tampa this year, so we'll spend the night before at my brother's house and have him drive us to the port. I noticed that our fare dropped, so I called the cruiseline and got them to adjust our price. Saved $250 for each of us!

Donna, it's a long haul for your husband, hey? I would suppose it won't be as long as our knees, though. Those muscles will be pretty wimpy for him, poor guy.

Shirley, about the team leadership, the help I'm thinking we need the most is to be a presence and encouragement on the team. A role you already fill quite well! The technical aspects aren't terribly time-consuming and I can deal with those. So I can make it official if you agree.

Donna, did you and dh head south this year? I can't remember if you did or not.
So glad your dh is doing so much better! That's awesome!

We never have tricker or treaters at our apt. complex so this year I didn't bother to buy candy and guess what? Of course we had kiddies come by. I didn't have anything suitable to give out so we just ignored them. Next year I'll buy candy I guess.

Today I'm the only one in the office because everyone had to go out to work at a school which suited me just fine! I'd rather be the one that stays behind. So of course today I forgot my badge so that I can get in the door. Thankfully one of the custodians I know was walking up at the same time and she let me in. We keep the door locked when we are here alone so I just have to remember not to walk out without unlocking the door first. I'm going to have to start doing something else with my badge. This is like three times this year that I've forgotten it.

Last night I decided to make hotel reservations for our cruise and my dil's graduation. I was shocked at the hotel prices for graduation, we always stay at the same hotel when we visit them and the rates had gone up a lot. My son isn't comfortable with us staying anywhere else in Gainesville so he offered to cover the difference. What a sweet guy! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful son.
I did better for the one night we will stay in Port Canaveral for our cruise. I got parking, a room on the beach and free shuttle service for $100.

I hope I get a lot done today! I love being here alone. So quiet!
Have a great day everyone!

Shirley, glad your Dwd is feel8ng better. I know,it was a tough trip for you.
I know you would be a great leader as you are so helpful with our new people. I hooe you do,it...
Charlotte, yes I know winter has creeped into Manitoba. I can remember some Halloweenís when it was bitterly cold taking the kids out. This year is cool but certainly not like that.

Dh did his exercises twice yesterday and I was almost in tears watching him. The main thing is has started so that is positive.....

I'm back, thank goodness.

The internal bleeding my dad was having went away and they released him from the hospital on Sunday so I got him home and settled. We got home yesterday afternoon. I'm at work today, feel like a walking zombie. He still needs heart surgery in a few weeks. Just hoping for the best. I'm glad I went though. It was so cold up there, Sat. as we were leaving to go to the hospital it was sleeting really bad. Supposed to be 69 here today!
Thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers.

Laurie, what all is involved in being a leader? I don't know if I'm a good candidate since I don't even get on here but once a day if I'm lucky. Hate to say this but I don't even know how to do anything, like the change the pictures. Maybe if someone could help me we could do it together. I am not a techie person at all.
I know I don't want this team to dissolve, this is my favorite team and I've made so many new friends on here, if it wasn't for this team I don't know how I would have gotten through my last knee replacement.

Winter's here in central Canada too, although those lucky folks on the "edges" ie BC & Quebec are still enjoying balmy temps. Our first snowfall was very light though and has almost all melted, so Mother Nature is easing us in gradually.

Just taking a break from trying to get this messy house ready for an unexpected guest - a friend with UHaul in tow driving from Creston BC to the seniors' appartments in our nearest village. She's arriving earlier than expected & cannot get in her suite until tomorrow. I expect she'll be with us for a night or two. Looking forward to catching up

Back, hips and feet have almost stopped protesting from trotting around the Sears store (liquidation sale) yesterday. Lots of empty shelves, but did find some nice towels and pillowcases to use up a gift card. Sure will miss Sears - not too many big department stores left around here anyway.

Shirley - so sorry to hear about your dad. How are things going?

Winter has arrived here. We haven't gotten snow yet, but there is some west of us. And just a week ago it was in the 70s. If it wasn't for family, I'd move back to Texas in a heartbeat!

It seems I haven't been able to find time to do our team justice and I haven't heard from Lynn in a really long time. If anyone out there would like to volunteer to be one of the leaders, it might help keep us going. Otherwise, I'm afraid our team will disappear into the sunset just from attrition. I'd hate for that to happen because there are some who've made connections and glean support from those who are active. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone,

Good and bad news. The good news is my dad called me last night and he had been to see my stepmom in rehab and she's doing a lot better. She remembered who he was and cried, dad was crying too, he was crying when he was telling me.

The bad news is early this morning my stepbrother called me and told me they had to rush my dad to the hospital in the middle of the night and they had to do a transfusion on the way to another hospital. They're not sure what is going on. From what he was telling me dad is in really bad shape and I need to come up now. So I guess we're leaving on Thursday morning. So I won't be on here for a while. Not sure when we'll be back even.
Please keep my dad and me in your prayers. I've given up on my siblings they don't seem to be concerned at all about this.

Hi all, Shirley, I can imagine how hard this is for you being so far away from your Dad. Thank goodness you have family there. I hope things so better with the new arrangements. I pray I never get to that point....
destiny is now in the terrible twos......we know all about that for sure. They do get a m8nd if their own for sure.
Charlotte yes winter is on its way for you but you have had a pretty nice fall. I hear the same thing here about people planning their winter getaway.

Had a good workout at the gym this morning so I have started my week off right.

Shirley - hope things go better for your dad and step mom and they get the help they need. This getting old business is not for the faint of heart. emoticon It's so hard when you can't be there in person.
Chelsea - that knee of yours will "smarten up" soon hopefully. Keep moving is the best thing you can do. Of course, being in pain doesn't make it easy. emoticon
I thought of the "cruisers" in this group at coffeetime after church yesterday, where two couples were talking about the cruises they'd just booked(Caribbean and eastern Mediterrean). emoticon Then another friend is off to Punta Cana with her dh next week and our neighbours are going home to Wales for a visit soon... the travel bug has hit - everywhere else but here it seems. I'm too busy battling bugs of a different sort. The Asia ladybird beetle invasion is slowing down but still lots to vacuum up. Looks like this past weekend was our last gasp of summer. Almost a frost last night and all the leaves are off the trees, so winter is definitely in the wings.
Let's hope this week is brighter for all! emoticon

Hi everyone,

I talked to my dad Friday night, they moved my stepmother (she does have Alzheimer's) to assisted living for two weeks, then she will go back to assisted living, but before she does they are separating them into different rooms in different wings. Dad is not allowed to go visit her. I know that's hard on him. They will be changing rooms this week. Dad hasn't seen the room but my stepbrother told me and it's going to be a lot smaller than he's used to. I didn't say anything to dad other than to try and make the best of it. I hope things work out. Still no word back from the doctors about the surgery. I could hear him when he talked and he's so short of breath. He said he can't walk very far anymore. He really just wants to get it done so he'll feel better. I'm really worried about him.

I'm sorry you couldn't take that job Chelsea. I'm too old to work night shifts anymore. I hope something else better comes open soon.

Glad your DH is doing better Donna.

We babysat Destiny overnight Sat. I don't know what got into her but she was a holy terror Sat. she was better yesterday. My highlight of the weekend was she called us Grammie and Grampy for the first time. That made my day.

Have a training I have to go to this afternoon. Not sure why, it's more for the librarians than it is for us. The good thing today is I go from 12:30 to 2:30 then I get to go home!

Back to work!
Have a great day everyone!

Chelsea walking half a mile so soon after your surgery is great. Just keep plugging along.
Sorry about the job but you know it was just not meant to be. Something wonderful is waiting for You!

Took Dh for a pedicure today and he feels great . He is diabetic so it is importsnt to keep his feet in good shape.

I did not make it to the gym today as Dh had a bad night and kept getting me up so I slept longer than usual when I finally got back to sleep for the third time.

Happy Sunday all!

I am so glad, Shirley, about your decision not to go right away to see your dad and that your husband supports you. And working from home is my dream (as I am sure it is for many). I hope it works for him.

Hi Laurie! Good to see you. emoticon

Donna, I slept on my recliner when I first went to sleep after my surgery. The pain was so bad that the recliner helped (supportive and not flat). Now I only fall asleep on it when I have severe insomnia...like tonight (it is almost 2 am). It is easier sometimes.

Well, not much to say except the same thing.....not happy with this knee recovery but hanging in there. I really like my new recumbent bike and that makes me happy. I had a job offer for a great job but it is at night and I don't have a car. In my area, buses are no good at night so back to square one. I told myself it doesn't matter since I can't walk more than 1/2 mile without hurting a lot.

Shirley that will be great that your Dh does not have that long commute. I could not imagine driving that fsr each day. It cannot be good for your health.
It sounds like your stepmom has dementia or Alzheimerís. How very sad.

I don't know if I told this team about dh's job. He's the managing editor for two weekly community newspapers, his commute is anywhere from 2-3 hours a day. He gets up at 3 to leave the house at 4 to beat the traffic. Anyway his boss told him the management where his office is is raising the rent Jan. 1st. They have gotten rid of his entire staff so most days it's just him in this big office all alone. Then a few weeks ago he got the call from his boss that they are shutting down the office at the end of the year and he will now be working from home. He will still have to drive out there for meetings, special interviews or pictures but he's going to try and get people to send him pictures and do interviews over the phone. He has to be out of the office by Dec. 1st; so they have time to get the office cleaned out.
Our office at home is crowded so we need to try and find a way and get rid of some stuff probably to make it work for him. He needs a bigger desk for sure. He has a lot of stuff in his office that we need to pack up and find a place at home for it. This is going to be a major life change for him. He seems to love going into the office. He recently started to work 2 days a week from home so that helps.

Donna I don't know which is worse spending all this money on health care which gets to be expensive when you have to see several doctors a year and a few of my prescriptions are moderately high priced or not having immediate care. My old supervisor moved to Canada when she was a child and then moved back here as an adult. Her mom and boyfriend still live up there. She has had some stories to tell about someone in her family needing surgery and it would have to be put off because there's no beds. I just signed up for my insurance for next year yesterday. It goes up every year but I'm thankful it's reasonable and my deductible is manageable compared to others.

My dad called me yesterday my stepmother is going downhill. She's been having these episodes where she just gets furious mostly in the middle of the night and she'll start hitting my dad. Yesterday it got so bad they took her to the hospital and I think admitted her. Now they're talking about putting them in separate rooms far away from each other. Maybe it's for the best. Just feel so sorry for my dad and stepbrothers.

Donna glad your dh is doing better. Hopefully soon he will be able to sleep in the bed again.
Back to work, thank goodness it's Friday!

Shirley I know you really did not want any to go at this time. Now that the decision is made you can start looking after you. As a Canadian we sure donít t have to think about what tests cost but we certainly donít have the immediate care that you do

Laurie it is great that the weather is still warm. Enjoy
Things are much better here as DH is not in as much pain. He still has to sleep in his chair so he is pretty tired of it. We did a few errands today so at least I got him out of the house
Did a yoga class this morning which felt wonderful

Shirley, sometimes you just don't know what the big stressor is in your life until it's gone! What a relief to have the decision made and communicated, hey? I think I missed that your husband is going to start working from home. Either that or it just fell out of my brain!I know he'll appreciate dumping that commute.

It is so nice out here! Forty-one years ago today it was snowing like crazy when my niece was born. It's supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow. I'll take that!

It's finally fall here I think, but who knows with Georgia weather.

Chelsea, dh and I had a long talk the other night about going for my dad's surgery. He thought it better if we didn't go. I have to have this test done, and by us not going I have nearly half the money saved. He told me I need to make myself a priority. He's right of course. I've spent years trying to take care of everyone and putting myself last and I know it has to stop. But oh it's so hard to put myself first.

My stepbrother happened to call me about another issue with dad and my stepmother and so I was able to break the news to him about not coming. He took it better than I thought he would. It's going to be tough on them since dad's surgery is in the city. At least there is a support system there, unlike last year when they were still living in Florida and had no one down there. If it was like that I would be going. So the decision has been made not to go. I didn't realize how much this upcoming trip was causing me stress until we made the decision. So things are better at work, the big project is done, now I just need to catch up on everything I got behind on. I have almost half the money saved for the tests I need, no big trips coming up until next May. DH won't have to worry about using up all of his vacation days or missing work. We have more time to get prepared for him to start working from home in Dec. and more time to get his office cleaned out. A lot less stress for both of us. I wasn't looking forward to that long drive at all anyway.

Okay back to work!

Donna, (LYNCHD05), I am glad you can spend some time for yourself. I know you love golf. I didn't know you went to the gym too and that's a great balance since you will have something to do, that you like, in the winter until you can golf. Thanks for your support.

Shirley, I don't know your dad but don't you think he will understand if you can't go right now? I think he would rather you go visit when you take care of the gallbladder. I am sorry about all the stress and pray for you and your dad. emoticon

I've slowed down some the last couple of days. I am still putting the bike together and haven't been to the pool yet. I have felt kind of overwhelmed and are taking it easy. I do have two job interviews coming up and wonder if I am ready..... I will go anyway and then make a decision. They may not offer the job anyway. Tonight I am reading and enjoying the quiet.

It's been a while since I posted--time gets away from me.

Donna, my sister's boyfriend slipped out of his chair at dialysis and broke his humerus up near his shoulder, too. Just like your DH, he's in a sling to immobilize it. Chuck is paralyzed on one side from a stroke and it makes transferring him very painful.

Spent last weekend up north with my other sister and we shopped until we dropped on Saturday. I bought a new pair of jeans, but got a dose of reality when I tried on sweaters. Have a ways to go! Still tracking, though I couldn't over the weekend. I feel like I haven't been doing too badly, though tomorrow is weigh-in so I'll find out for sure!

Shirley, i hope you your thumb is better soon and hopefully you do not have gallstones. Too much going on for you right now especially with the stress with your Dad. Sending prayers your way.
Dh is still pretty incapacitated but the pain is a little less, thank goodness. Since we rented that lift chair it has made a huge difference but he is still sleeping in it.
I did get out for a long walk yesterday and it was a beautiful fall day. Went to the gym this morning which felt very good after being away so long,

Donna keeping you and your husband in my prayers. I'm glad that you feel like you can leave him alone for a few hours now. I'm sure it will help to be able to get out and about some without worrying about rushing right back or not leaving at all.

Yay Chelsea, that's great news about your knee! So glad you can go back to the pool I know that will make you feel better.

Called in sick Thursday and went to the Dr. to follow up on my thumb. She gave me something stronger to take but trying not to. She also told me I need to wear the splint for 2 weeks while at work and at night. It was much better this weekend. I've also been having some what I thought were gallbladder issues and she said it sounds like I might have gallstones. I need to have some tests done but need to come up with my deductible first. So it's probably going to be next year if I can hold out that long. Now it seems like everytime I eat something I get that pain. It's not severe but I know it's there. Always seems to be something. Debating on going to Ohio for dad's surgery. I'm afraid I will have a really bad attack up there. Plus I could put that money saved for the trip towards the deductible which would really help.

Had an enjoyable weekend in Tennessee for dh's grandson's first birthday. It was just family so it was with all of the ex in-laws. They're nice to me and welcoming so it's not so bad anymore. He's too cute. It was nice plus relaxing and I got some good rest.

Back to work today! It's Bosses Day and so we have been scrambling around this weekend trying to put something together. We usually do breakfast but we are surprising them with just cake, ice cream and balloons. Not one single calendar I use mentioned Bosses Day. Totally slipped up on me and the rest of us. It's working out though everyone is gone in a meeting this morning unexpectedly so we are able to go shopping without them knowing.

Chelsey. Way to go on your progression. You are doing great and before you know it you wonít even be thinking about your knee. it is great that you have been given the go ahead to get back to the pool. It always feels good to return to our normal routine.

Things are not normal here but I am hoping I can go back to the gym next week. We have no medical appointments and I feel Dh can be left alone for a few hours now.

Progress

Oh, Shirley! I hope you continue to heal. I am sure you don't want surgery for the thumb too. Your job requires that you move stuff around so I hope you will be okay. AND congrats on losing 5.5 lbs! emoticon And I love Boston Market too! One year my friend and I celebrated Thanksgiving there with their food (well, the day before). Loved it! I took a whole new serving with me and ate it at home the next day. emoticon

Lynn, I am glad your Thanksgiving was good with family. I am sorry your husband is not well and the stress on you. I hope you have some outside support if you need it. Sometimes when people are married a long time, they don't think of asking for support. emoticon

Well, ladies, I can go in the pool again! Yay! I was cleared today and it has been 5 1/2 weeks since the knee surgery. My goal is to bend it to 125 degrees and today I got 120. I never thought that would be possible since it is SO painful. I can see the end to this misery. AND I got my recumbent bike in the mail! I still have to put it together but this is exciting. The last 6 weeks have been miserable (with the surgery and the hurricane) and I look forward to a more normal life. I want to thank you all for your support. emoticon

Donna so glad that your ds and dil came over for dinner. That was nice I'm sure. Elk meatloaf never heard of that before. It's funny because I'm making meatloaf for dinner tonight. My dh's favorite meal other than Italian. He's Italian and loves his pasta!

I guess you needed that nap. Hope your dh is improving. Hang in there! This too shall pass!

It's so muggy here. Worse than ever. Really messes with my breathing.

Good morning all, our son and dil came over yesterday for dinner which was wonderful. Son made an elk meatloaf which was very tasty. He is a very good cook. It was not the traditional turkey dinner but then it was nit the traditional Thanksgiving anyway.
Yesterday afternoon I had a. So which never happens with me. I guess I needed it. As soon as I woke up I went for a walk which is about the only exercise I am getting right now. It sure is not like me....

I haven't been on here in what seems days. I'm off today unfortunately. I woke up yesterday morning with the worst pain ever in my thumb. We were at urgent care when they opened the doors. It was swollen and I couldn't bend it, I couldn't do anything really. It felt like I had broken it but I was asleep. After 3 xrays the Dr. confirmed what I thought it was. Severe arthritis. I have had some twinges the last few years and knew that's probably what was coming, not sure why it flared up yesterday, other than we got some rain from the tropical storm yesterday. Sent me home with a shot of steroids, pain pills, a splint and told me to stay home from work today. Today is much better, the swelling has come down. I haven't needed to take anything more than Naproxen and I can bend it again and use it. It's made my blood sugar go way up so I'm trying to drink lots of water today and watch the carbs. It's making me feel cruddy. Yesterday I was wound up. We even got the house cleaned and some other things done.

I have started doing WW on my own, and I have to track everything I am going to eat the night before. That's what is working for me. I have lost 5.5 pounds in the last three weeks I believe.

Chelsea, my granddaughter Destiny will be 3 years old on March 4th next year and my dh's grandson Benjamin will be turning a year old on the 16th. We are going to Tennessee next weekend for a small birthday party. These two are our first grandchildren. I'm treasuring every moment I have with Destiny, she will most likely be my only grandchild. I learned a long time ago that they grow up way too fast, I try not to blink!

My knees are actually doing better, this project is over and I'm not on my feet so much and the shot of steroids has them feeling really good!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends in Canada! I wish ours was in Oct. and not at the end of November. It's just too much with Christmas less than a month away and then New Years. Since we won't be going to Missouri for Thanksgiving to see my family we are having Boston Market for dinner on that day. All the trimmings and a choice of dessert for $12.99, I hate cooking all of that food for just the two of us. I love Boston Market. No clean up and no prep. I love it!
My stepbrother told me that dad's pre-op is tomorrow now and depending on how all of that goes his surgery is scheduled for Nov. 10th. So I will probably know more of what to expect tomorrow. I'm so so hoping they can do both procedures at the same time. I just can't go up there for a 4th time this year.

Donna, so sorry to hear about your husband. I think it was very wise to rent a lift chair. My dad has one and he loves it. I'm praying for fast healing, take care of your back. It's hard to be the sole caregiver.
Hope you're feeling better Karen. Enjoy that warm weather, according to the extended forecast here it's supposed to be in the 70s and 80s for the next 3 weeks. So I'm guessing we'll do what we usually do go from summer to winter overnight. Georgia weather is so fickle. It's so humid here right now. Ready to turn the air off and get out the warmer clothes.

I'm off here. Going to see if I can get some scrapbooking done. Laurie have you heard from Lynn lately. I hope all is well with her. If you talk to her tell her she's missed!

Tracking is power, Laurie (CHEESER22)! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Karen, (BLUESTARMOM) I hope you feel better today. When I worked for the state of Florida in the WIC program, my coworkers and I were always sick with something because of the kids. emoticon

Charlotte (MINIMOE1), how did the yard work go? I suffer from chronic pain too and it is hard to get things done sometimes because of it. I hope you were able to do some. AN emoticon Happy Thanksgiving!

Lyn (LYNCHD05), wow! That's a lot of stress for him and you. Now that I am I am in pain from my knee surgery, I feel for him not having protection for the broken joint. Must be miserable. And for you, too much stress. I surely hope that daily you find ways to golf or do something that's just for you. emoticon

I am okay. Didn't do any knee exercises the last two days except bending the knee some throughout the day. My motivation wasn't there. But today I am going to PT in the afternoon so I am going to do one set at home this morning and then to go therapy. I bought a recumbent bike online and it arrives this week! I can't wait to get it since I need to do it for the knee and the little gym where I live close over 2 months ago. Plus I will ask and see if I can swim again. Can't wait to do it again.

Laurie, thanks for the goodie and the reminder that I have been mia.
You know how that goes you donít get a notice and you donít realize you have not been here.
Things have been very bad here as my Dh took a tumble and broke his arm just below the shoulder cap. Because of the locstion of the break it is not in a cast. He has a sling which I guess works but it sure does not feel like he has enough protection. For eight days I have been lifting him whenever he needed to get up. Needless to say my back was starting to get quite sore and he was totally dependent on me to be around. We decided this was enough and we rented a lift recliner so he could function to a point on his own. He has to sleep in the chair too as hecannot lay down. So life is interesting......
It is our Thanksgiving weekend and I hav cancelled our dinner. Dh is in too much pain to have so many people around. We will survive nit having s turkey dinner this year.
I have read your posts and caught up with the news.
I will be around now....

emoticon great to catch up on all your activities. And I thought I was busy!! emoticon It's been a beautiful fall so we're working outside as much as possible (and the state of my house reflects it!) Of course the riding mower is not runnning right, so the emoticon and the trimmer (and us) are getting a workout. Today my main job is weeding around the walkway slabs emoticon and washing some windows. Just waiting for the pain killers to kick in before getting to it. emoticon
Karen We both need to follow Laurie's example and track in earnest. I know I always lose when I write everything down. A great help in making healthy choices and keeping us accountable.

Laurie: so wise (and ambitious) of you to start working on Christmas gifts - only 11 weeks until Xmas eve after all and those will fly by for sure.

Chelsea - sounds like your recovery is going well. Glad to hear the pain is less and your new knee is behaving itself. I wouldn't worry too much about your 3 lb gain - you have more than enough going on just now. Being active will sure help you maintain. emoticon
Shirley - Here in Canada, it's Thanksgiving weekend - lots of traffic on the highway with folks heading home to family or to the cottage. emoticon We usually take dinner to dh's 95 year old uncle in the city so getting that ready is my main inside job today.

Hi to Donna. How's your hubby's arm doing?
Have a great weekend all!

Laurie, you've been busy! I finished a blanket for my great grandson this week. It was my first "big" project and I'm really pleased with the way it came out. Before I crochet anything else, I'm making myself get his Christmas stocking finished. It's fun, but it has tons and tons of sequins on it.
My weight is actually up a couple of pounds, but I've been having intestinal issues the past few days. I really can't eat much without my stomach cramping up. I've been babysitting my granddaughter and yesterday she started running a high fever, so maybe I've had a virus. My DIL has an appointment with the doctor for Josie today. Once I start back to school on Monday I'm going to start tracking my food again. It helps keep me accountable.

Mom and I got our weekend shopping and menu planning all done today so tomorrow we are going nowhere. Yay! It's supposed to rain, which we need, but makes stomping around between stores pretty miserable. We might pop in a movie (or two) and work on Christmas gifts. I finished a scarf for my sister who moved back here from Georgia. Almost done with slippers for my other sister. Then I need to get started on hats for my brother and SIL (in Packers colors). I need to see if I have any more wool yarn to make cup cozies. Wow that sounds like I better be knitting like crazy!

It's been a good tracking week. Lost 3.5 pounds this week--woo-hoo!

CONGRATS Shirley! Keep up the great work! How old is Destiny? And thanks for the encouragement. I am taking it day by day. By the way, how is your knee? And congrats on finishing the big project! My weekend is going to be about the same as my week. emoticon Not much changes for me since I am just exercising my knee and not working right now. We get to go to church again since it has been closed 3 weeks because of the hurricane so I am looking forward to that.

BLUESTARMOM, I am SO glad your daughter made it!! It is so scary since no one saw it coming..... Living in Florida, a tourist state, people worry. I can't live my life in fear so I am just going to do what I do and hope for the best. God bless all those people. Even his family is in shock. emoticon They had no idea he would do something like that.

Hi Laurie (CHEESER22)! I started tracking food again recently (kind of). It helps me the best when I do it all day but since the surgery, I just do what I need to do. I am slowly getting back, though, since it works the best for me. I gained 3 lbs. since the surgery and feel okay about that. Could have been worse. I am more active now and that will help.

I can bend the knee to 106 degrees and the pain isn't as horrible. I am SO grateful! AND emoticon so much for your support through all this. emoticon

Laurie, I'm so with you on being somewhere tropical right now. It's not as cold here as you have up there but I wouldn't mind going somewhere, anywhere like a beach just to getaway from the everyday stress and problems. But then you come home all relaxed and it's welcome back to reality! Looks like my getaway is going to be going to Ohio for my dad's surgery. Now the date has been moved to November. Not sure what is going on. My stepbrother gives me the bare minimum of facts. Will know more next week after he has pre-op.

It's fall break here for our school district. Their last day was Wednesday and they won't be back until Tuesday. Today it's just 3 of 4 secretaries and our co-ordinator is supposed to come in later, but that's up in the air. She's four months pregnant and has morning sickness so bad she can hardly get out of the bed. She's missed a lot of work.I feel sorry for her! On Monday everyone is gone out except me and my assistant. emoticon He's his usual unhelpful self.

What's everyone doing over the weekend? I'm treating myself to mani/pedi tomorrow, my reward for surviving this big project, also getting ready to go out of town next Friday to go see dh's kids and grandson who's turning 1! The house is a wreck and has to be cleaned. Other than that I hope I will have time to scrapbook. We are supposed to get some rain from some Tropical Storm. Just as the gas prices had started to come down my dh told me this morning we need to fill up because they will go back up again from the storm.

Guess I need to go and at least appear like I'm working today. Not a lot of that going on I'm sure.

We've been having extended summer weather and I'm loving it! When I'm not at work, that is. And speaking of work...I'm feeling particularly stupid today. It's hard to be a perfectionist. I beat myself up when I make mistakes, even when the mistakes were made because a lack of information. Blah!

I'm looking at my computer wallpaper right now and wishing I was someplace tropical! But before we go anywhere I need to evict some of this excess poundage. So I'm on day 3 of tracking food and exercise again. It worked before, I'm optimistic it will work again.

Yay Karen for Fall Break, ours starts tomorrow and the kids and teachers are out until next Tuesday. I'm a 12 month employee so I don't get all the extra time that they do. I'm trying not to use vacation days since I'm probably going to have to go up to Ohio for my dad's surgery at the end of the month.
I know you're happy to be on break and I'm so glad you and Mike were able to get a room and go to Pigeon Forge! I love it up there. We were there a few years ago. I love the little shops, I always have to go to the quilt shop. And the last time we were there we ran into this scrapbooking shop way on the other side of town, I about went nuts and spent way too much money. Wish we had one here, but probably a good thing we don't since I'd be in there all the time spending money. Did you go to the Dixie Stampede last night? It's so much fun and the food is pretty good too.

I'm happy to report that this huge project at work that I've been working on since August is over or sort of anyway. We have to make more room and my Assistant has some brilliant idea, I'm skeptical but anyway I told him he could do it. I'm just glad the worst of it is over. Yesterday was a day. Lots of miscommunication! But it's finally done.
So now back to work to try and get caught up with everything I've gotten so far behind on.
Have a great day everyone!

Happy Tuesday! I am on Fall Break. It's really early this year, but it was much needed. And I actually did something spontaneous- we are in Pigeon Forge. I decided on Sunday that I needed to get Mike out of the house, so I called and was able to book a room (it's sometimes hard since we have to have a wheelchair accessible one) and get tickets to the Dixie Stampede Dinner show. We were going to come up today, and then my son yesterday said, "Why don't you just go today?". So I called and was able to get a room, we hopped in the car, and here we are lol. I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing day today. I'm glad we came up yesterday because the drive wore me out. My knee held up well though and we were able to walk around a little last night.

I was just sick yesterday when I woke up and heard the news about what happened in Las Vegas. I don't know what is wrong with people. And then we found out Mike's daughter was at the concert. She got out safely. The hotel let everyone stay until they were able to get to the airport. She's traumatized, but home safe in CA.

I hope everyone is having a great week. We had beautiful Fall weather this weekend, but it's warmed up a bit again. I went to Nashville, IN (Brown County) and spent a lovely day with my halfsister, her daughter and kids. It's a fun little town with lots of shops. I want to go back and do some Christmas shopping in a few weeks.

I agree with you Chelsea, it's nice to have someplace to go and just chat and find encouragement. I look forward to it everyday.

I lost 5 pounds this month. I'm happy about that.

This move at work that I've been working on since August is supposed to happen tomorrow. Someone was supposed to come Friday and build shelves and they didn't show up. So I don't know if the move is happening or not. The project manager is in meetings all day today. Will see what my director has to say when she gets here. I'm just so done with all of this.

Got to see Destiny this weekend. She's so cute. When I got to her house she came running up to me with her arms stretched out and I got a big hug and a kiss. That just makes my day! I hadn't seen her in a few weeks so I was missing her. She was exactly what I needed. She has a big girl bed now, made me want to cry. She's not a baby anymore. She's growing up too fast. I mentioned nap to her and I got "the look"! She never did take a nap.

Good luck with the job! Job hunting is so hard. I never want to have to do another resume, apply or interview for a job. I've done it too many times. Your knee will bend to 125 or close to it someday. Just keep working on it.

Back to work. TTYL!

It was nice catching up and reading about everyone. It is nice to talk here and just share with each other. It isn't long but just enough not to feel alone. emoticon

I am still at it. I can bend it to 90 degrees now and need to be at 125 someday. I can't see it happening but I know it will. I hope it will be there in 10 days...... emoticon I have been applying for a job and need the knee to be a little bit better than where it is.

The tree outside my window has all its leaves back from the hurricane! I am glad things are starting to get back to normal.

I can't even imagine anything nicer than to escape the brutal cold up north to go on a cruise Laurie! I know you and your mom are looking forward to that. Sounds like fun.

Walked into work this morning and it was freezing. I never know how to dress anymore. I put on my sweater and it was even cold and turned the space heater on. Starting to feel warm again.
Some days I think I need to dig out my winter clothes. Can't wait to see what it's going to be like in here all winter if it ever gets cold that is.

My assistant got married on Sat. so he's been out. He was supposed to be back today but now he's sick he says. Been kind of nice while he's been gone since I'm not stressing over what he's not doing. I finished the last part of this phase of the project, I hope that was the worst part of it anyway. Now just waiting on custodians to clean up and put my stuff back up on the shelves from the big roof leak we had. Oh what a mess! Then we are waiting on more shelving units to be delivered. Then we can finish this move and this project. I just want it done. Hopefully by the middle of October but it's doubtful, everything runs behind and very slow in this school district.

Have a nice day everyone!

Donna you know how much I dread winter!

Shirley, our cruise is to the Western Caribbean. We are trying out Norwegian cruise line because it was the best option out of Tampa. It will be a lot more casual than we are used to, but our goal is to escape winter!

Laurie, I just can't even imagine not turning the air on for the whole summer. You know how it is down here. We have it on from March onward into early Novemeber probably and a few years ago it was so hot on Christmas Day that we had to turn it on! The weather seems to be crazy everywhere.

WooHoo! on your cruise! Sounds lovely, can't wait until we go in May. Where are you going on your cruise? I think Nassau is one of our stops.

Holy smokes it was a hot weekend here...for Wisconsin at the end of September, that is. It got up into the 90's and we broke down and turned on the a/c. Unbelievable--that's the only time we've used it this year! I thought we would make it through the entire summer without turning it on. Though, technically, we did since it is Fall. I'm not complaining--I'd rather be warm. Back to reality on Weds. The leaves aren't turning pretty, because it was such a wet, cool summer there is a fungus that's growing on the leaves and turning them brown before they turn red.

Chelsea, to answer your question from a few days ago--my nephew's wedding was supposed to be in Nassau, Bahamas. When they cancelled, we booked a cruise for our winter escape.

Karen, my sister works the lunch program for an elementary school and she said the little troublemakers are starting to be evident. Kindergartners, no less!

Good Morning everyone!

So good to hear from you Karen. Glad you're doing okay despite everything else. I can't even imagine being a teacher in this day and time. Teachers have so much on their plates anyway you sure don't need the behavioral problems on top of that. People are so addicted to their phones, it just amazes me. I swear my 2 year old granddaughter knows how to work my phone better than I do. She also has one of those learning tablet, I can't even figure out how to turn it on, she knows everything about it though.

Wow I slept so gooood Sat. night I actually woke up feeling rested and no aches or pains for once. It sure was a good feeling. Last night I couldn't fall asleep and it wasn't restful sleep. Woke up with the same aches and pains. It was so good to feel so awesome yesterday though! I wish I had more days like that.

The weather here is still very hot, it's supposed to be in the 90s this week again. Then it's supposed to cool down into the 70s starting Sat. I hope this is the last week of winter. I'm ready for some fall weather.

Guess I should go and get some work done.

Karen good to hear from you. You have had so much going on since your surgery that we sure understand. Going back to work and being in your feet all day has to be very difficult. I think not doing the 5K is a good decision. You need to rest that knee.

What is the matter with people not paying attention to their kids. You see it all the time with parents I their phones ignoring their children.

Off to pick up friends returning from their Alaska cruise. I am sure there will be lots of stories. It should be a fun day.

Hi everyone! Life has been hectic, and I've fallen off the radar again, but trying to catch up. Retirement- I wish! I have 9 years left before I can retire, and don't know if I'll be able to afford to do it then. There are many days I wonder if I'll be able to keep up as every year they kids that come in to kindergarten have more and more issues. Now it's kids who don't know how to listen. They are being raised by people who ignore them. Parents are on their phones, they give their kids a tablet to keep them busy, and no one talks to anyone any more. It's really sad. I have two kids who steal and can't control their behavior and another lovely little one who likes to whistle or start talking every time I try to teach.

A week ago Wed. I tried to get out of bed and realized I couldn't put any weight on my leg, and I couldn't straighten it. Ortho diagnosed tendonitis. He said I'm trying to do too much too soon, even though I'm 3 months out. Lots of rest and steroids. This Wed. I woke up and it was like a miracle- the pain was gone! Now I'm back to the usual. I had planned to walk a 5K for my church, but that went out the window. I'm being a little more cautious in water aerobics and not pushing it when my knee hurts.

I will be glad for Fall weather. Right now it's hot and feels like summer. I love cool nights and the crisp feel in the air that Fall usually brings. I think cooler weather is due in next week.

I was awake for my surgery. I was really apprehensive about it, but honestly, I was so drugged up that it didn't bother me. I remember the sounds of the drill, and looking up near the end and seeing my leg sticking straight up in the air, but I couldn't feel a thing. Very weird. The recovery was a lot faster than when I had general the first time, so I'm glad they did the spinal.
