Greetings from hot and humid Manila. It's Saturday evening, we arrived at the guest house at 1:00 this morning and slept for about 4 hours. Jet lag hasn't been too bad as long as I keep moving, but I did start to nod off a couple times today and nearly gave myself whiplash. I'm not even going to attempt to track food and I'm OK with that. I wouldn't even be sure what day to track since I lost a day coming out. I changed my mind at the last minute and packed a carry-on roller bag instead of the backpack. It was easier schlepping around something on wheels. But still made it with only a carry-on and my computer bag. Love traveling this way!

I just took a dip in the pool to cool off, and what I suspected is true--it takes more effort to stay afloat with less fat to buoy me up. Not that I exactly sink, it just takes more effort. I think it's great--I have to burn more calories!

I feel the fog descending on the old brain, so I better quit here while I'm ahead.

Laurie

You know Becca .... you could be right!!!

Building an ark, yup Lynn you are right - I'm tired of the rain, and the 40 degree temps, and the clouds ...... so dreary. Will Spring ever get here?

I do have some exciting news. My daughter interviewed for a job before Easter, tutoring in the writing center at the university she attends. She found out today that she got the job!!! WOO HOO!! She has worked at McDonald's for 2+ years and is SO ready for a change, but she won't be quitting - she'll work at McDonald's during summer breaks.

Well, the housework is calling my name .... guess I should go. Have a good afternoon!

Hmmmmm, Becca -- that is an interesting thought about the actresses. You may just be right!!
And I'm like you -- I just keep thinking if I lose more weight that eventually that will start to shrink as well!! (our apple-shapes) Good for you for planning days off -- in my teaching career I'd always try to plan a 'mental health day' once a semester -- maybe even 2 if I hadn't used many of my sick days!!! 1st semester I always took one in late Nov/early Dec and I'd do my Christmas shopping during the day so as not to have to fight the crowds on weekends! Loved it.....

Going to my pedicure pretty soon so not as busy a day....and just for my relaxation. Have a great day everyone!!!

Had a slow day with the exercise yesterday, but was on track with everything else. Will be hitting the gym this afternoon, AND going out to lunch. I took a day off work; personal days and earned time don't cross over into the new year, and I lost some time last year, so I'm trying to plan better this time around. My BFF is taking me out for a belated b'day lunch.

Can't believe you guys are making your own videos! I'm lucky if I remember to pull the camera out for special occasions...

Lynn: yes, I am an apple shape, and yes, I've also heard that it's the hardest place to lose the fat from. I figure that as long as I keep losing, it will eventually have to come off there because the rest of me will be skin and bones!

Maryann: I'd settle for a little stomach, too! I've always wondered if that is why actresses and models are always so eager to adopt kids instead of having their own ~ so they can keep their figure.

Good evening all ---

Bye Laurie - I missed this AM to tell you!! Done with my volunteering testing this week so now my time is my own again. Boy once you get used to that - it's hard to give it up for some one or something else!!

Hi Shirley - so glad to hear from you A few weeks back on the news I was hearing something about the Atlanta school board or something and the shake up and problems they were having but I only half listened and by the time I knew they were talking Atlanta -- the piece was over so didn't hear much detail! Isn't that where you work? Sounded like a mess - I do know that!

Well Shel -- glad for you I think.....but if you're leaving our team we'll miss you!!! And I do wish you well

Cindy - now you'd better do those exercises....it's for YOU, you know!!

I think we're going to have to start building an ark pretty soon...It's pretty much rained the past 24 hours, sometimes harder than others but it's just WET!! Hope it keeps it up in the summer so the farmers have their crops this year!

Well I'm going to hit the hay early tonite - have a great evening everyone!

Enough with the liquid sunshine!!! I'm not liking this cold rain..... Anyway, HI everyone!

Well, I went to the newest Ortho surgeon yesterday about my shoulder. Good news is.... NO SURGERY (only because it's not repairable). I have a massive rotator cuff tear. It's too far gone to be repaired. But, I can still function...... I've been going to PT twice a week to strengthen everything around it, that DOES work. I'll be okay. The only option for "fixing" things if they get worse is a surgery I don't want to undergo. , which would involved taking a muscle from my back, and attaching that..... I think I'll manage okay without it! Also got to talk with my knee surgeon too, in between patients. I LOVE that guy!!! He is just soooooo nice, and caring. We had some laughs about my knowing when to stop......... (NOT) I'll still be seeing him frequently. He wants to keep tabs on the knee.

Well, I should be getting together with both my kids this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Nothing fancy, but hopefully I'll think of something fun that we can fit into the short time available.

Donna...... Safe travels home!
Laurie...... Safe travels to Manila! You are the Queen of packing light!!
Shirley..... You can send some of your nice weather up here, anytime! Seni and I would appreciate it. We haven't had the snow yet, just lots of COLD rain, but we are supposed to get some tonight/tomorrow....... ugh.
Maryann.... hope you mom is okay!
Lynn..... What can I say.... . hee hee! You are in my head reminding me to check in (for fear of the troops being sent out to look for me). Glad you are working with the kids. They help to keep us all young. BTW, I'm still doing the smoothies and the weight is going down, and my clothes are getting roomier. YAY!!! It's about time.
Oops..... out of time again.... HI Carolyn, Shel, and Cindy! Where's Alicia???
On a parting thought....... I know they say that with the replacements, we don't have arthritis in the joint anymore, but my knee sure doesn't like the cold.
Toodles!

I won't be getting hip/knee surgery after all...not until they develop a replacement that isn't so metallic. My metal allergy would pose too much of a risk - I could have a ceramic coated implant, but that can risk cracking...infection...so, I'm going to keep plugging away at weight loss, exercise...take Meloxicam...and pray... I bid you all fare well and God speed. Shel

HI all, had a pretty good day today, Had to wait nearly 20 mins to get into my physio apt which was absurd, don't schedule so many at once and give a bit more one on one. anywaaaaaay. lol
She was very complete in questions asked and listening. then she got me to lay on my back with ice, and heat on my knee with it up in one of those triangle wedges for 15 mins. came back and did a lot of holding my heel and pressing on my knee, and pushing my knee down till it was tight in back of calf. Actually hurt but felt good if that make sense.
Told her I am scare of surg. cos so weak and how bad my back is and to do the pre surg. ex. hurts my back, can only imagine when my knee hurts 100 tmes more. she said we will work on core, and legs and you will get stronger.
She gave me 3 exercise to do 2x day at home. I was talking to the receptionist who is my age and said worried to go to physio cos then if I get a call for surg. have no physio left. Anyway. will go once a week for bit then will learn it all and go less and hope that this works.
I also asked about wanting to do upper strength said do any that dont hurt and or don't lean forward at all or back too far. So okay will try again.
Also told hubby I am holding him accountable to make me do these 2x day lol he said not me, I said yea cos if I dont the recovery will be worse and way longer and you dont want that any more than I do. lol
besides my back is so sore, I only want to get it better as it can.
Okay off to get the dishes done and lol go do my exercises.
HUGS

Hey All, This is getting to be a bad habit for me, MIA! Again!
I'm on spring break or I should say the first three days were furlough days, today and tomorrow are spring break, at least I'm getting paid for being off now. Don't want this week to end. It's getting to be that time of year when they start doing lay offs at work again, so I have that hanging over my head. Will probably know more towards end of month and into May. Except last year they changed things up and just walked into people's offices and told them to pack up their things and leave. That is just so wrong, the time I got laid off I got six weeks notice. That was the longest six weeks of my life! Keep praying for me all! Just dreading this.

I had my physical on Monday! Ugh! I've been diagnosed with high blood pressure, so on meds for that now. Waiting to hear the results from blood work. Tues. I had a mammogram and got my teeth cleaned. I did fit a manicure and pedicure into my schedule. So I pampered myself in between all the Dr. appts.
Yesterday I worked on cleaning out organizing my filing cabinet and cleaning up my side of the office. So much nicer to walk in here now.
Today my dh surprised me and took the day off of work! The pollen count is over 8000 today, YES! you read that right over 8000! Pretty typical here in the south in the spring time. The weather has been beautiful this week, other then everything has turned yellow. My black car is yellow now! Thankfully the pollen doesn't bother me too much, it does lots of people though. Today we are expecting rain, severe thunderstorms, possible hail and tornadoes. So glad my dh is staying home, his commute is very long and he has been caught in severe thunderstorms before. Today's storms are supposed to be pretty bad! I guess since storms are coming we will just stick around the house. Right now the sun is shining and it looks beautiful outside.

Have a safe trip Laurie! Wow! Manila, hope the jet lag isn't too bad.

Sorry Seni, you are having such crummy weather again, it's so hard for me to imagine everyone not having the beautiful weather we are having here in the south. The bad weather is coming though I can feel it in my knee!

I'm hoping to sit down tomorrow and do some scrap booking. I really need to clean house sometime, but thankfully it's pretty small so shouldn't take me too long. I've been really good about getting up in the mornings when my dh leaves for work, so I haven't slept past 7:00. I've done a few other things I've been wanting to get done too, pretty happy with my productive week.

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone. Talk to you soon.

Safe trip, Laurie! Can't wait to hear about it, once you're back and caught up on sleep, lol.

We got a load of rain and ice on top of the snow and it's bitter cold out. Guess who won't be going back out of the house? I had to take son to school (don't get me started about teen boys getting up on time) and it was so cold walking into the house from the driveway (with my crutches, I'm not that brave yet) my hands were hurting and when I got in the house they felt like they were burning. Yep, that's COLD!

Hopefully, all of my daffodils and tulips survive this!

Stay warm and dry and have a great day.

Leaving for the airport in about an hour. I'll probably check in a few times while I'm gone, but don't expect me to make a whole lot of sense (talking about sleep deprivation!). Just hoping I don't drool in public emoticon

Wow, Cindy! That's a long wait! I hope I don't have to wait so long! Today I go to my orthopod presumably to set up the appointment for surgery. I'm hoping to have it done when I finish with school for the summer, so I can return in the fall! Shel

A quick hello ---- tried to stop by earlier, but the storms are causing havoc with the internet. Don't mind the rain, but not thrilled about the hail. Hope it's not as bad as they're predicting.

Donna is right Cindy - sleep is so important, but has a way of alluding us when we need it most! Kind of like right now - I should be in bed, but knew I hadn't stopped by and thought I would!

Lynn - I'll have to investigate scrapbook in Merrillville - great idea ..... but we'll travel back down in June if there's another event! Count on it!

Safe journeys to Donna and Laurie!!

Becca/Shel - my son and I just had a discussion about losing weight and getting flat abs! He learned in school that if you've had abdominal surgery - you will most likely never have washboard abs! It made me think about overhearing a doctor telling a woman who wanted to know why she couldn't get her stomach flat. He told her that after being pregnant and giving birth, she'd always have a little stomach. I'd settle for a little stomach!!

Well ... time to go, it's starting to pour and the rumbling has begun. Goodnight team ......

Oh Cindy my heart just ached for you when I read your post. Why do ou have to wait so long for your surgery. Sounds like you need it right now. Also not getting a good nights sleep sure does not help.

Good evening!!

Well I spent my day at my volunteer school testing the speech/language skills of incoming kindergarteners!!! It was busy, hectic, but I did enjoy it!! That was the part of my job I loved - the kids! Then it was nice to leave all the scoring and paperwork for the SLP teacher!! :)) Have a half day more tomorrow and then done!

Shel -- loved the 2 videos!!! I had a Boston Terrier as a child...my favorite dog ever! You're good at that. I'm just learning how to edit some of my videos I've taken....and still have a long way to go. My son is my teacher and I keep forgetting something and have to wait til he comes visits again til I find out how to do something he already taught me, let alone learn something new! Very clever you are....

Maryann - so sorry to hear about your mom - is she better today? Yes I agree it is a good idea to get the tests back b/f more meds....they do tend to medicate the seniors....and if we don't keep an eye on it -- it can cause more problems than it fixes. We'll get those 17 years caught up in no time! And I DO hope you want to come back!! If you hear of a cool scrapbook store up near Merrillville or surrounding area -- who knows I could make it up there! I think I mentioned I have TWO possible more crops to go to this month!! My dh says I must be making it my new job!!!

Oh Seni - no -- I was so hoping your bad weather would be over! Hopefully our snow is over but now it's spring and April showers and we've had them the 24 hours plus supposed to last til early tomorrow AM.

Becca - I sure hear you about the challenge being over and backsliding. After the 5% ended right b/f Christmas. We didn't get back til about the middle/end of February!! That's a long time but luckily I was on the downside of the 2# I kept gaining and losing!! And I have a theory about our 'bellies'....if you are an apple shape, I think that's the 1st place you put weight on (or at least I did) and it will be the LAST place for it to leave....But leave it must - or at least it'd better!!!! (hear my optimism??)

Good to hear from you DONNA -- have a safe trip home and take it easy on the packing - that'll be a lot of great exercise!!

Healthy - hope you feel better soon -- I know you've been in pain for awhile and that's just not fun. Help me remember here - have you had or going to have any surgery recently on your knees or hip? Or are you waiting and this is that pain that leads us to the surgeries!!???
We have so many members who come and go that sometimes this ole mind has trouble remembering where everyone is at -- surgery/healthwise. Thanks for helping me out!! I try to keep good notes on everyone but some things escape me if I get busy here!

Laurie , Shirley, Laurel, Cheryl -- know that I think about you all each day....and am always glad it's YOU that's the busy ones and not me!! Oooooh that doesn't sound nice does it?? LOL.....It is life and it's what you have to do for now!

Hi all, I am taking a break right now from my packing. What a big job but it will get done. DH is having a hard time because of his back so tomorrow when we load the van I am sure I will be doing most of it which is ok. I am not sure how much I will be on here until next week when we get home. Catchup later!!

Becca, I know what you mean about the pants. I have to face the fact that I've had 4 pregnancies, and I have a "bag" of skin that's going to stay. I just don't have the elasticity any more! And even if I COULD afford the cosmetic surgery, I don't think I would - not that I'm afraid of surgery (I've had plenty 'nuff!). I just think if I had enough money to blow on THAT, I'd prefer to put it to better use! ANyway, I can fit nicely into 16's - till I try to close 'em!

A little cool with the breeze, but it's a nice day out. Went for a walk, might go out again later on.

Today is the last day of TBL challenge. We will have 8 weeks off! Am worried about backsliding...

Cheryl: I have that issue ~ one day of over doing the exercise can put me off for the rest of the week. It's a thin line, right?

Lynn: my pants are looser, but I don't know if I'd actually fit into something smaller. My tummy is almost as big as it was last year; I seem to be losing inches everywhere else, but not there.

Maryann: sorry about your mom. I'm to the point with mine that I might call HR at work and find out how bereavent time is handled. My sister says mom is doing the slow downward slide, but doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.

Well, Hubs went back out yesterday, so today I got up to go to the pool. And found that I'm snowed in again. UGH! So, instead of exercising-I'm just trying to stay in calorie range! I really despise that groundhog...

I admire all you scrapbookers. Back before digital cameras, it would take me forever to get film developed...and then get photo albums to PUT them in. With the digital camera, oh, my, I love it - being able to create folders in my computer files or flashdrives or albums on facebook and photobucket - not cluttering up the house!
And then I learned how to make videos using photos! I've done this mostly for my mission trip experiences, but I also made an all-purpose birthday video
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HtBOxD1Re8
and a composite of my daughter's 2 boston terriers put to "Flight of the Bumblebees" www.youtube.com/watch?v=fou2bC1p760

But when my hard drive crashed and I had to get a new one, I had to figure out how to use a different program. Shel

Hi everyone .....

Sorry I haven't been around -- and Lynn has had to hold the team together solo, BUT my mom has been under the weather lately and it seems that the doctor feels that it would be better to get all the test results back before prescribing any medication (which I know is the correct thing to do) BUT in the meantime she's in so much pain and is so sad. I spent the day with her today and the kids came over and brought pizza for lunch ... it made her so happy that they thought about her. Little things mean so much sometimes.

Anyway --- I hope Lynn mentioned the fun we had on Saturday. She has given me the scrapbook bug - lol!!! And considering that I'm about 17 years behind in getting my pictures into photo albums, maybe it's the right bug for me!

My daughter had a wonderful time - she didn't scrapbook, but decided to do some drawing. The picture she did was one of her better ones. She's been bugging me since we came home to find out when the ladies will be getting together again!!! So Lynn .... looks like you're stuck with us - hahaha!

Laurie -- you've made great strides in losing weight and have the knowledge to stay in maintenance. I think you can get rid of those big clothes .... I doubt you'll ever go back to those sizes again!!! Good luck with the packing. Don traveled so much that it is amazing what he can fit into one piece of carry-on luggage! Hope the trip is a success.

Shel - love the profile pic. What a cutie!!

Becca - the elliptical was my favorite machine at the gym. My son talked me into getting a medicine ball because he said it would help me with strength training. I bought a 4 lb ball - which of course he thinks is as light as a feather - but since my wrists have been giving me trouble, I figured better to start light. He's been showing me what to do and boy - it's a workout!

Cindy - sorry the Chiro didn't help today. I love going - but sometimes I'm more sore than when I went in and it takes a day to feel better. My son loves the Voice - not sure what he likes more: the contestants voices or the stars comments!

Cheryl - sorry about the walk. My husband and I have to do similar things for his insurance. Some of it's okay - but other stuff, not so much! Hope you're doing better.

Well, need to get that last load of laundry done before I turn in. Have a wonderful Wednesday team .....

Peace

Good evening --

Laurie -- I hope someday to have that conversation with my clothes!!! I've gone down as much as 40# before and still wore the same!! Prob. b/c most of my things have an elastic waist but it was so disheartening that they actually still 'fit'....albeit perhaps a bit looser. So that's my goal is to be able to do what you've done......congratulations -- to you AND Donna!!! How fun to be looking at things in a smaller size.

Becca - you're doing a great job with that exercise-- keep up the good work!!

Healthy-- glad you're feeling some better. It's been VERY warm here the past 2-3 days...and even tomorrow but we are expecting severe weather tomorrow nite - like tornadoes. not my favorite time of year for sure!! I'll get my weather radio down and see if I can get it on the weather station again and then convince dh that I can leave it on all nite!! (to alert us of bad weather in the area)

Cheryl, Cheryl, Cheryl, - whatever are we going to do with you???!!! It was nice it was for your benefit -- but you need to REMEMBER your limits!!! Ok lecture over!!! So what's going on w/ your shoulder?? I've noticed some soreness in mine when I do some of the overhead moves at the pool and my one shoulder lets me know that's not a good idea! So take it easy --- and take care of YOU!!!

Keep doing what's best for YOU everyone!!!

Hi! I know, I've been MIA.... been busy. Busy at work.... up to 7 hours now, but it's pretty tough, going to PT 2 days a week for my shoulder, and off to yet another ortho surgeon tomorrow to go over the MRI findings and find out what the plan is. Not really looking forward to this, but it's necessary. I know what happens when I try to ignore things.
Last week I went on a "Wellness Walk" after work (6:15 am). We have to earn points for a reduced rate on our insurance (I hate this). Anyway, the walk was only supposed to be about 20-25 minutes, but a group of people took the lead and took us on a different route than planned, We ended up going more than twice the distance that was planned.... GRRRRR!!! And, it was cold.... about 30 degrees. We walked well over 2 miles in about 35 mins. I paid for it the rest of the week (and weekend). My foot and knee were NOT happy! Oh well...... there was some personal satisfaction in doing it (but I wish I had been with the group behind us, which took the right route). Lesson learned.......
Oh shoot..... out of time again, time for work, Guess I'll just have to pop in again tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well!

Used the elliptical at the gym today. Haven't done that in a while, but wanted to watch TV to keep me motivated. The Barefoot Contessa was doing quickie chicken and salmon.

Lynn: baseball is really the only sport I'm interested in. Basketball once in a while, and soccer if the guys have cute legs...

Donna: I LUV kickboxing, but it's a little rough on the knees these days. I still have my Billy Blanks tapes.

Laurie: upper 60s today, but will be back in the 40s by Thursday... I'm so ready for spring.

Good morning!

I've been hanging on to my big clothes until I'm sure this is a permanent change. Last time I lost weight was just before moving to Dallas and I gave everything away that was too big. A couple years later, I was wishing I hadn't done that. But that may be my maintenance goal--to become sure enough of my new, healthier lifestyle that I can get rid of the big stuff. Until then, they remain packed away.

It's been so nice out lately and Mom and I have been getting in some walking. Tomorrow winter will revisit us. Texas winter--not looking for snow, but we may have to turn on the heat again. Sheesh, what a weird winter and spring! Just so we don't have storms on Thurs.

I can't believe I'm not packed yet. I do have my backpack out and the start of some piles. Tonight I have to get serious and at least see what fits into the backpack. I'm doing this trip all on carry-ons--a backpack and large shoulder bag. Actually, I'm hoping to stuff enough into the backpack so I can ditch the shoulder bag and just take my travel purse. Easier on the back and neck.

My two presentations are in pretty good shape, I'll leave them rest until I get to Manila and can collaborate with my co-presenters. My travel partner arrives from Virginia tomorrow. I'm just not looking forward to jet lag...twice!

Better get back to work...

Laurie

Donna, every now and then I do a purge of the closet and drawers - if I haven't worn it in a year, I'm not likely to wear it! We give our cast-offs either to Goodwill or Volunteers of America, or the drop-off box at a local church. Or if it's before I'm going on a mission trip, I see what I might bring to give away - usually clothing my grandkids have outgrown. I try to fit all my personal stuff in the carryon so I can use two large suitcases for give-aways (though now I have to PAY for the extra one).

My hip has been bothering me more lately. Thursday I go to the surgeon to set up a date. Woo-hoo! Shel

Hi all. Have not been here for a few days but as usual life is busy. We are starting to pack up and that is a big job. Why do,we bring so much!!!!! I guess when you are away for so long.you need to drag your life back and forth. Plus I have had to,shop since all my clothes are too big so now what do I do with those clothes that no longer fit? Drag them back home? Have not had that problem for a long time. Went to the gym today and had a really good workout. We did cardio kickboxing and it was fun. I feel so blessed that I can do these things again. I was where some of you are now and it really does get better. Hang in there!
Tomorrow it is haircut day and packing then dinner with friends. That should be the end of it thank goodness.
Have a good day everyone and will check in tomorrow.

Good evening --

Good for you Becca -- I made it to aquasize tonite and it felt good. Ahhh the Red Sox - I'm not much of a baseball fan. I really only like football (pro or college) and NCAA basketball but only during the tournament!! So I'm kind of a fair weather friend for sports!

Carolyn, thanks for sharing your pics, etc. Good job on the walking.

Since I went to a scrapbook crop on this past Sat . I've been invited to 2 more this month!!!! One is free so I might think about that one. The other costs $30 but they provide breakfast, lunch and dinner!! (have no idea of the menu) I never knew all these things existed around here -- this is what I find by getting out and about into the pool!!! THEN the instructor tonite at class told us about a bed and breakfast scrapbooking weekend down in Indy.!!!! Yikes this could become a fulltime job!! LOL...

Had the best of both worlds: walked/biked in the gym and watched the Red Sox on TV! Great way to spend part of an afternoon.

I am presently rereading all my Michael Connelly books ~ good police procedurals.

I've been doing a bit more walking recently than I had been doing so that is good.

Nursing School Spring break is over and school restarted today. I had a full day of working this morning and then teaching this afternoon. I wrote about my day in my blog today. I also finally have a photo of the damage that the tornado like winds did a couple of weeks ago to the Kanda Church parsonage. Here is the link to my blog:

7a.m. here and not a good start to a day. Been in +10 pain since 5 am, was the slowest walk with the dog in ages. My R back and side waist area are so sore, my butt and even the front of my thigh. I have so much neruopathy pain and even today my knee is bugging me.
Yesterday I didn't take my glucosamine MSM which I take 4 a day and only 2 cucumim instead of 4. not sure what did it but won't be forgetting them again anytime soon. NOt sure if that or if I just moved that inch that puts my back out in my sleep. Man I wish this nerve pain would leave as that is what scares me so bad to get my knee done. How will I move if my back gets this bad........... can't lay on it at all even with pillows, ice no matter what. can only lay right on my L hip if I bring my R hip over or even an ingh slideing over my L leg I get pain in my back.
OH well will get my green tea going, take my pills,. get my ice and hope the puppy has a slow am till hubby gets up lol
I will have a good day despite whatever the weather brings.
HUGS all

Meme, yes, my present profile pic is of my new grandson, Rory. He has such a sweet face!

Marybeth, I LOVE Janet Oke's books! They've made movies based on them - not exactly true to the books, but definitely uplifting.
But it's been a while since I've done recreational reading. Maybe when I retire!

Vacation's over - back to work. At least the weather's nice enough, I can walk. Shel

Hi Shirley - so good to hear from you -- hopefully the funk goes away soon once the weather stays put for awhile. I know your job is causing you stress too with all the extra work you have to do. Perhaps we could persuade Laurie to hide you in her luggage for her cruise in a few weeks??? LOL....I just love my ideas!!!

Marybeth -- I've not gotten back into reading much since I retired. I got my kindle for that reason but I like the mindlessness of the few games I play. I keep telling dh that I used up all my braincells when I worked and now they're just mush - and can't concentrate on a book!!
I know I've been doing the same thing at my house the past several years - although my dh might tell you that's not true. I don't want my kids to have to go through all of it -- and yes as you said - just throw it away. I can do that just as well. If it's something that really means something to me I do keep it....otherwise if it's 'Well kind of .....I just snap a picture of it and throw, donate or give it away for someone else to enjoy. I still have the picture and memory for what it was for ME. And then I can scrapbook all those pics if I choose!

I am reading the "Love Comes Softly" series of Christian books by Janette Oke. Hard to put each book down cause I always want to know what comes next.
Glad I am doing some purging and recycling cause I have memories of what it was like to clean out my inlaws home when they were moving on to retirement/nursing home. Their house was so 'full' of things that they just did not want to get rid of. The same thing happened with my own parents home many years ago. I am trying hard not to have our kids have to go through that. I know that they will just 'junk' almost everything unless I really go through the stuff myself. Downsizing is so very hard to do but I know that some day it will be our turn too to leave here and go into smaller quarters.

I'm still here, been in a bad funk lately, bordering on depression unfortunately. A lot of it is work, the prospect of 10 hour days this summer, my dh's stressful job, and my knee is still giving me fits. My knee suddenly stopped hurting Friday, just like that it quit hurting and feels better. I didn't try to exercise last week because I could barely walk, so I don't know if the exercising I was doing (which wasn't that much really) was causing the pain or not. Will start exercising again this week and see what happens.

The weather has finally gotten nice in Georgia. After having a few days in the 70's, on Thurs. it was darn right cold, rainy and windy! Had to turn the heat on again. This week is spring break for me, the weather is supposed to be nice the first 3 days but start raining on Thurs. into Friday, not that I'm doing anything fun though! Have Dr. appts. on Monday and Tues. and plan on cleaning, especially my filing cabinet. Have a list of things I would like to get done this week but probably won't even get through half the list. Am hoping that I will actually feel like doing a bit of scrap booking this week even. Been ages since I've done any!

Work was really bad this week, it went too slow and had a bad couple of days. They sure aren't paying enough for the extra job I'm doing now and the stress that comes with it. Seems hard to believe that school will be out in like 7 weeks or so. Wow! Everyone in my office was going somewhere on spring break, most of them to the beach! Sounded so wonderful to be lying on a beach somewhere. Just hoping I don't snack my week away because I'm home alone bored!

Finished up the taxes yesterday and paid the IRS the money I owed. Still can't believe I had to pay this year. I always get money back! So depressing! Hoping next year is better, am having more withheld each pay period now, wow, talk about hurting the pocket!

Other then that not all that much going on on my side of the world! Hoping to have good report from the Dr. at my physical tomorrow. Wish I had lost more weight but at least I'm working on it.

Good early evening!

Becca -- you are doing a great job of exercising!!! Ahhh how nice of someone at your church!! Take it in the spirit it was given and head to verizon!!! That's why we're all here on earth is to help one another when needed!

All you cleaners and purgers out there -- wow, what a motivation you are to me to get busy on a couple of my closets! There's just something about spring and nicer weather that brings that out in us, doesn't it??

Marybeth - what book did you read??

Shel - is that a picture of your new grandbaby?? So cute....

Cindy -- the weather here is like spring too. My dh has been outside most of the past 2 days and he's in the height of his glory for sure!! (he loves yardwork and plants) So take that puppy out and enjoy!!!

Saw that Maryann peeked in here yesterday while we were at the crop. We had such a nice time. I got about 5-6 pages done in the 6 hours we were there. I spent alot of time going around looking at others pages and gadgets. It always amazes me what everyone has and uses. I know she worked on her dd album -- and took her from preschool to elementary -- but not sure how far???? :))) It was a nice day.....and you need to ask her about the 2 bananas cancelling out the cupcakes!!! LOL....uh oh hope she doesn't smack me!!

Missing some of our other posters....hope you are all well!!!

Walked home from Wal*Mart. My walking has gotten much slower this week, and I'm not quite sure why. Did yoga poses today and 2 RAOK at church. Also had someone press $50 into my hand, which embarrassed me and thrilled me at the same time. Will go to Verizon tomorrow after work and put it towards that outstanding bill.

Have been thinking about getting a Fitbit. I don't think I need the one that you wear to bed, as I usually sleep fine. Will have to see how the finances shape up once Ed gets his disability check.

Cindy: I did a lot of decluttering for Lent ~ have a big box of stuff to drop off at church for the bazaar.

Marybeth, it's good to do a "purge" from time to time. My Dad was a real packrat, and it was a nightmare going through stuff when he was gone. I don't want to get to that stage. My DD occasionally watches "Hoarders" and then goes on a cleaning binge! (a pot of coffee helps!) Shel

Hi there. I have been in the Spring cleaning mode lately. My kids have been here and did some moving around of things in my computer room so I am gradually going through the piles of stuff. Seems I have kept a lot of paper trail - notes from the many many workshops that I have gone to over the years and some schooling books/notes. Of course I have to go through it all and see if there is still anything that I really want to keep for future reference. Today I went through some things on a bathroom shelf - I have an open closet so when the stuff gets untidy looking then I really do 'have' to do something about making it neater. When I was done this bathroom job, which really was kinda relaxing for me, then I sat down and got into reading a really good book.

Turned out to be a pretty good day. Did LOTS of walking, caught Ed up on all the news, and we took some of our tax return money out for lunch. (We really needed the together time... life has been too stressful here!) The rest is tucked up tight in the bank, ready for home repairs, or mortgage payment, whichever is needed first. Ed has finally agreed that the woman who is supposed to be sending him the disability checks has been - I don't want to say LYING, maybe just stretching the truth - when she keeps telling him the check is in the mail, which she has been saying for two weeks now. She even told him Thursday that it will be sent by Fed Ex, so we should have gotten it by now. We are working on not blaming each other for this mess that wasn't either of our fault, but it's so easy to take stress out on our nearest and dearest.

Gimpy: I'll keep you in my prayers.

Good afternoon from beautiful Indiana!!!! Just finishing up with our scrapbook day -- having a great time!!!! Actually managed to get 5 pages done in between snacking (healthy of course - lol) and great conversation. I am impressed with all of the wonderful gadgets some of the women having, the beautiful pages and amazing creativity!!

Hope everyone is doing well and making progress.

'Gimpy' love your t-shirt idea. Once you have the surgery - they sell a shirt that says 'I love my new knee'!!!

Should get backing to scraping -- check back later ........

..Sorry I've been MIA for awhile...just freaking out about my upcoming TKR on the 16th. It would be easier if I had more family support. No kids. No sisters. No parents. 2 brothers I can reach by phone. No room here for anyone to stay over. I'll even have to keep the dog in the kennel for awhile so she doesn't knock me over. I wish someone had offered to take me to church the Sunday before I get the staples out, which my doc said then I could drive. It's just tough getting old on your own.

I wanted to lose more weight but I stalled out. Anxiety just makes me eat more.I'm probably just being a big baby but I've lived alone since 1994, when my husband died. Staying at a huge hospital, having a strange roommate, having to ask for a ride to and from, and going through some serious surgery is just not a walk in the park for me. Thanks for letting me blow off some nervousness. Those that have spouses and adult children to help you out, you just don't know how blessed you are!!

On a lighter note..I'm tempted to get a t-shirt made-up, forest green, (the logo color of the hospital congomerate I'm going to) with white letters, saying "..got knees?" Thought maybe it would be a fun thing to wear when I go in, and go to PT later....The same hospital had a "Healthy Hearts for Women" program that I volunteered for. At the end, they gave me a wonderful green t-shirt that I wore everywhere...maybe I'll start a trend...Thanks for listening..
