Hi everyone. Hope you're all having a great weekend!
I was just wondering if anyone could help me find something... About a week and a half ago, Dr. Oz recommended a bread to help cut carb cravings. It's called Volkornbrot (a german rye). I have looked everywhere and can NOT find it. The only place I found it was online where it was $7 per loaf and about $5 shipping PER LOAF! That's crazy. According to Dr. Oz, it should be in health food stores for about $5. If anyone has any information on this missing bread, please contact 1-800-NOBREAD! JK, but I really would appreciate it if anyone has any idea at all where I can find this. Thanks so much, as always, for your help and support! Take care! - Lauren ![]() ![]()

I know it's a little late, but I wanted to thank Melissa and Anna for your feedback on Sean T. Yes, I agree, his workout looks KILLER. I think I would start with a much more watered-down version of it. Also, thanks for those recipes for high protein breakfasts, Melissa. Those are some great ideas and I will definitely try them. I know I should make more things from scratch, but I like that Jimmy Dean bowl idea for when I just don't have time (or am too lazy!)
Also, thanks to all who welcomed me to the team on my sparkmail. You're all very sweet! I don't always catch the show either, but I find his site is pretty easy to find what you missed. Happy Thursday to everyone....Friday's just around the corner! Yeah!

I watched the videos on the web site with Drs. Mercola & Oz - liked the way they discussed many of the hot health issues. Sorry I didn't see anything about shampoo.
Has anyone tried the Saffron Extract with Satiereal? Supposedly used to help with emotional eating. I'd be willing to shell out the $30 per month if it works! ** Melissa **

I was at work and our dvd is pretty full now so didn't record it. I was trying to check Dr. Oz but just did not have enough time at lunch. Hopefully KLUVSTFORMERS has it saved on dvd.
I have gym tonight with trainer and I'm about ready to crash right now. Hope it's one of the less intense ones but if it's like the one DH did Monday I'm going to be wiped out when I get home!!! Anna

I'll re-watch the show and see if I can read the name .... if you just need "shine" you can buy that by itself .... if you want to add color and shine then the color enhanced shampoos are great .... there are actually several different ones .... google them online or if you are in a city with a beauty supply store you can get them there ....
I'll get back to you after I watch the show again. Roc

Hi Anna, I get some sweet potato fries from the natural foods freezer section. They're packaged by Alexia. Check out their web site. I was really impressed because the sodium counts are really low on them. I also bake sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners. You bake them just as you would a regular potato but I really recommend that you cover the pan you bake them it. All that gooey sweetness just drips out of them & don't forget to pierce them with a fork otherwise they may explode in your oven. Once cooled you can pull out the flesh, package in freezer bags & pull them out as you need them. Enjoy them mashed or chopped.
You're right, Shaun T is amazing - I think I counted an 8 pack! ** Melissa **

Thanks for the info on the bowl and your recipe. I like the idea of making a couple up for the week. This is probably "horrible" but I have never made a sweet potato. The baked sweet potato fries always sound good but I've never done it. I keep thinking I should get a sweet potato and bake it and that doesn't happen. We usually end up with canned which are higher in cal and soso! Shaun T sure looked good!!!

Hello Anna, Jimmy Dean markets a breakfast bowl that you pop in the microwave. They sell several different kinds but my favorite is the turkey sausage, egg, hash brown, & cheese. It's quick & easy but can also be made from scratch if you like to control the ingredients. I like to do a breakfast casserole bake on Sundays, then slice it in to portions & pop in the fridge to "nuke" for pre-work breakfasts. This method is really easy & very cheap!
I know I couldn't do that Shaun T workout at the same intensity that he or Dr. Oz did it, but I think I could improvise (a lot slower for sure). It would be interesting to try though. Sweet potatoes are loaded with fiber & nutrients. They also help to satisfy that carb desire. We have a tough time in Alaska getting a lot of fresh (expire within a week) produce so I consider frozen (with no additives) to be in that category of "fresh". I use fruit in the evenings to satisfy my sweet tooth. It adds fiber & vitamin C to my diet. My evening carbs are a battle I choose not to fight right now - but never say never! ** Melissa **

I saw the segment with Shaun T but knew I couldn't do his workout. My knee would be way out of whack and hurting if I did those exercises. It sure would be a workout though! I'll have to stick to walking as fast as I can on the treadmill and intervals on the elliptical. It sounded pretty good eating carbs 40% am, 25% lunch and 15% pm and increasing the protein at lunch and dinner (keeping fat the same). I'm not sure why he said to eat 2 servings of sweet potatoes a day! The other was to eat foods that expire within a week (such as berries for an example). I think I could manage cutting down on the carbs and I usually have more in the evening. That might be hard to change but maybe I should! I'll give it a shot and just try to get a 15 min fast walk in where I get my heart rate up for a while.
What is the breakfast bowl? That sounds good. Need somethiing easy to do before leaving for work in the morn! Have a good night all. Anna

Lauren, I found a quick breakfast bowl with 31 grams of protein but it was over 400 calories. That was the 1st attempt at trying Ferriss' recommendation. The 2nd attempt, I scrambled up 2 eggs, 2 turkey link sausages (chopped), & 1/4 cup low fat cheddar (added at the end of cooking). This last attempt came up to 279 calories, 15 grams fat, & 29 grams of protein. Best of all you can make this up at night (add the cheese though after cooking) & just "nuke" it in the am for a quick breakfast. If you prefer, you could try turkey bacon.
My take on carb loading at any meal is: do it with caution. Unless the carbs are low on the glycemic index, your blood sugar can spike & this is not healthy at all. But from what I can tell from the video, he recommends the low glycemic carbs. It's just easier for me to try to balance my carbs, proteins, & fats throughout the day rather than concentrate them at specific meals. Not to mention, the evening is when I really get my veggies & fruits in (carbs) to avoid snacking on junk food. Hope this helps! ** Melissa **

I'm no expert but Shaun T's plan seems to be pretty sound. The workout is maximum interval training type which has studies to back up the claim that you continue to burn calories long after the workout. Man - it looks brutal & I'd love to add it to my regimen. The food plan is very sensible & offers good advice in my opinion. I'm not sure that there is really any benefit from "tapering off your carbs" throughout the day but it's worth a try to help with carb cravings. Also by having most of your protein at dinner you help your body make it through the overnight fast.
I'm a firm believer that the best plan is the plan that works best for you, so I'd say go for it or even just incorporate some aspects into what you are already doing. Thanks again, I really enjoyed the episode!! ** Melissa **

HI Melissa. Thank you so much for the welcome and for your input regarding my question. I was thinking about doing the 30 protein grams in 30 mins. too but I was a little afraid that I might wind up gaining more weight. Do you have any suggestions for a 30 grams of protein breakfast?
I also like your idea about splitting the cardio up into smaller time periods. Sometimes I dread doing my exercise because it's such a big chunk of time, but if I were to break it up and still get the same benefits - maybe even more because it will keep my metabolism running all day - that might really work for me. Yes, if you do check out Sean T on Dr. Oz's website, I would be curious to see your opinion. Not only about the workout, but also about the high-carb breakfast he suggests. Thank you again Melissa! I hope you have a great day! - Lauren ![]()

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!
Hi Lauren, I'm not familiar with Sean T but I did watch the episode with Timothy Ferriss author of "The 4 Hour Body". I was intrigued by the 30 gram protein breakfast so I tried it for 2 days straight. Both days, I skipped lunch because I was so full. Of course, skipping meals is not healthy. I think I'll head over to Oz's website to check on the info for Sean T. As for workouts, I am trying to move more throughout the day rather than concentrate all activity in a short time. My cardio has consisted of brisk walking for a minimum of 20 minutes twice a day. It works for me, requires no special equipment, & is easier to fit in when my schedule gets hectic. I'm not sure it's possible to burn any kind of calories for weight loss in only 15 minutes a day unless you are getting 10-15,000 steps in or also doing strength training or other cardio. I'd be interested to check this out though - my motto is "never say never"! Thanks for posting - I always look forward to learning new things! ** Melissa **

Hi everyone! I'm new here so I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting a question like this. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with Sean T.'s 15 minute a day workouts? For instance, does 15 mins a day really work? Does anyone actually own the DVD's and has had a good or bad experience with them? I'm also wondering about the effectiveness of his meal plan (most carbs in the morning and mostly protein at night.)
I'm just a little confused because, as much as I love Dr. Oz, he sometimes seems to contradict himself with what plans he recommends. For instance, he just had a guy (I forget his name) on his show last week who recommended 30 grams of protein within 30 mins of waking in the morning. This is very different than the plan that Sean T. is recommending. I understand that these are just different suggestions and they may help different types of people. So I guess I'm just looking for feedback as to what anyone has either heard about either of these nutrition/workout plans (either good or bad). Thank you so much for reading my questions and I really do appreciate any info or opinions anyone might give me!!! - Lauren ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by: LAURENV2003 at: 2/20/2012 (02:03)

I also haven't kept track of what I have been eating. I have been mainly feeding my cold and only been eating twice per day. I hope everyone has a good day or night. I was afraid of this. Last night I went to set up recording The Doctors for today and DH needed some help and that was as far as I got. I also started the Brown Seawee supplement yesterday and didn't put it out today. Hmmm, I'm not off to a very good start. If anyone watches it let me know if they have any good tips. Not sure how much they put on their online site afterwards.

Hi guys,
We did have a good time at the Chinese Restraunt. We filled our tummies and my Ison had fun talking Spanish to our waiter. He is learning Spanish in school and when he didn't know a word he would ask in Spanish what does that mean. Today was a stressful day at school. The class room I was helping in, one of the girls left the room without permission and when I and another person went looking for her we couldn't find her anywhere. The teacher had told her no to going to the restroom. She came to me after the teacher left and asked if she could go to the restroom. I told her that I wasn't in charge. To asked the other teacher who was in charge. The main teacher was upset when she came back after a conference to find out the student wasn't in the class room. I did get in 70 ounces of water today though. I hope everyone has a good day with whatever you do. ![]() Sharon Sharon CST Clarksville Arkansas

I need a dr oz notebook to write everything down and then go through and figure out what I need! Do I need a brown seaweed supplement for belly fat or should I just get seaweed and use it a few times a week. That's another thing - how much? I could wrap rice and veg and maybe tuna in seaweed and dip it in sauce and eat it. We have sushi at a restaurant and enjoy it. I also like Miso with the seaweed or could add it to soup. A supplement would be good on the "off" days.
Has anyone ever heard him mention anythng about Glucosamine Chondroiton? Wondering if he thinks it does any good. I better go I've got my video to do and finish watching Biggest Loser. Have a great evening!!! Anna

Which smoothie? I remember hearing about a few different smoothie recipes on numerous shows. I usually make up my own smoothie recipes...this week, it's been 1 cup of skim milk, 1 cup of plain greek yogurt, a handful of frozen mixed berries (blackberries, strawberries, raspberries), and a few raw almonds...all mixed in the blender.

Gingerpawz, I hope your husband is starting to feel better...ouch, kidney stones!
I've been recording the Dr. Oz show each day, then watch them on the nights where there's nothing else on tv that I care for. Yesterday's show on whether or not "food addiction" is real, or if it's lack of willpower instead was very interesting. I tend to waffle on which I believe...both sides have valid points. Anyway, I was just thinking about the fact that on every Dr. Oz show, he recommends natural supplements for all kinds of things...well, if I have back pain (from the show last week on pain), I guess I should take the calcium/potassium/magnesium supplement, then take the drops of white willow bark extract in water (for inflammation), then....selenium for menopause, then...etc., etc., etc. If we all took every supplement he recommends each day, we'd be taking 50 supplements a day, LOL. I get so confused as to what I should really be taking each day! For now, I'll stick with healthy food and a good multi-vitamin. How do the rest of you feel about the supplement recommendation issue on every show? Robin

Sorry I have been MIA from the team this week. My husband woke up 2:30 AM on Thursday night/Friday morning with acute pain on the left side. He was thinking that it is an appendix. I told him that the appendix is on the right side of the body and not the left. I ended up taking him to the ER at 4:30 along with my son. I am the type of mother who is not going to leave her 11year old boy home alone. He would be worried out of his mind if he woke up and we were not here. The doctor said that it was a kidney stone and that there is another one forming in the kidneys. So the doctor sent Steve home at 7AM with some pain pills. I put my son back to bed and told him that he could go to school at noon.

I didn't get to watch Dr Oz yesterday and didn't tape it either. I can only do a couple a week since we have so many things we tape and such little space on the DVR!!! I don't even know what's on today!!!! Hope it's a good one. Will have to check online later. Have a great day all! Anna
