Busy day...catching up:)

Mitchell - YAY!!!!!! So glad things are going well, one by one. I wish you were here so I could give you a REAL hug:)

Tracy - CONGRATS!! I knew all that weight was NOT a real weight gain. GRRR...my body can retain 5 lbs of water overnight. Have a basket of chips and a couple of margaritas and WAAA-LAAA eek! SO GLAD you are seeing results finally. You keep doing what you are doing. You are so right that if we keep moving and eating well, our bodies will respond. Good visual too about the steering wheel:)

Zoe -I hope you get the things done for your trip. What an awesome adventure:) Thanks for the "CHEERS"...I know we CAN do this!

TL - I ave. about 4 lbs. per month. I CAN do better than that, but not maintain that speed of weightloss. I'm in this for a lifetime as I NEVER want to re-lose lost weight again. 4 lbs a month is ok with me:)

Have a good nite everyone and Mitchell...start us out tmw. as I have kids coming too early for me to type:) WAY TO GO, LADIES!! HUGS to you all!!

I never was this determined when it comes to weight loss and I'm sure that is AT LEAST partly because of the community and the support. When you're not alone in it, you have more reasons to stick with it plus you get help when you need it!

Tricia, have fun this weekend! And even if you don't get a chance to go online with your mobile, keep tracking! In situations like that I try to take a little notebook/piece of paper/napkin ;) where I note everything I eat, so I can log it in later on. That keeps me from binging and having that feeling that I lose control.

Zoe, my major is biology! I don't like organic chemistry very much. And I was really lazy today! At least in that respect. BUT as my conscience was SO bad because I didn't learn, I worked out for over an hour, although I didn't plan on working out today at all.

I did some more workouts from the DVD and searched the web for some related vocabulary and during that search I found a page with an easy workout. It was released originally by the Canadian Air Force and I think despite the poor design of the website, that the idea and the exercises are great to gain strength slowly, even without prior training. Here is the link, if anone is interested:
http://fit450.com/HTML/XBX_Intro.html
You train for only 12 minute each day while increasing the reps and the exercises very slowly, day by day and later week by week. You don't need any equipment or much space. In addition to that I think the first level can be done by nearly everyone. It's not that hard at all (although I always struggle with push-ups - even the easier, modified ones :-( )
Does that sound appealing to anybody else? It would be great to have a partner in trying that.

I'll go to bed now! Have a good evening and sleep well my dear buddies!

I am so glad everyone can see the value of having spark friends and keeping up with a few on the message boards. Do as little or as much as you want or need. This is my second go-round with SP and I found that it was my team mates who helped me tremendously. And when I had some stuff going on and I quit talking to people, guess what, I eventually stopped logging my stuff too.

I think two things that help this is the anonymity of it and the fact that our real life friends can only hear about our weight struggles so often before their eyes glaze over and they start avoiding us.

Mitchell - what is your major? Glad the presentation went well. Organic chemistry! Ach! That is hard stuff.

Me? I'm online constantly at work making lists of things to pack and learning about where I'm going. I have decided to try to take only one carry on to Europe. It'll be tough but the freedom will be worth it. Besides, my brother will be there if I forgot anything LOL. My trip to see my sister next week will be a dry run.

Keep it going, guys! We can do this!
~Zoe emoticon

Merry Christmas!

Hey, ladies!

Mitchell - sounds like you did great on your presentation, good job! I love the sound of your anthropology class, I bet it's very interesting! I'm glad you enjoyed the DVD. I do a lot of DVD workouts - they're cheaper than gym memberships and I can squeeze it in whenever I have time. And you usually don't need too much equipment, if any at all.

Tracy - I think you are so right - we need to look at way more than weight as markers of our progress. Sometimes clothes fit differently, sometimes you just notice a change in your body. You don't have to be skinny to be healthy, so just keep doing what you're doing. I've been told by my doctor to keep at it and my weight will eventually catch up and start decreasing. I too, seem to be a slow loser. I'm at 1 pound a week. But it means I'm doing something.

I did a bunch of errands this morning, but am home now to do some work. My husband is assistant coach of a track team, and there's a big meet this weekend that we need to travel to. My husband is acting as head coach, because the head coach can't be there. I've become his assistant and I'm organizing which kids are running which events on which days at which times. I also have some housework I need to do. Fun fun!

Like Tracy, I feel very fortunate to have my spark buddies! I'm happy for myself that I was able to push through my own resistance and work out yesterday, even though I feel like you all (unknowingly) gave me a little push. I'm enjoying getting & giving support and probably would have already given up (as usual) without it.

I don't know how much I'll be on over the next few days. We leave tomorrow for the track meet and will get back Sunday night. I can check in and post from my phone, so I'll try to do that.

Tricia

*HUGS* to all you ladies! You know, honestly, if I hadn't have come here and talked with you guys the past few days, I would have quit this. I would have given up because I was so down. You guys are so awesome! :D I'm glad to have you guys in my corner! I can only pray that I can give you guys the same support that you have shown me so far.

Tracy, I'm so glad you were able to see the difference! Now it is obvious it wasn't fat!
And from the biological point of view your totally right. With the right amount of calories from the right foods and without a serious metabolism illness, you WILL lose weight. For some it may take longer because the metabolism can differ a lot, but their is no way our bodies can keep all that fat when it's not "supported" by our diet.
Thank you :) I really liked the topic and I'm interested in teaching others about it. I would like to work for the university when I'm finished. Research PLUS teaching in one job seems to be perfect to me.
But what do you mean by the bleeding thing? It's just bones, no blood involved! Some dried out flesh in mummies perhaps. Our university deals with very old human remains mostly. I couldn't stand the bloody thing every day either ;)

I did some cardio workout from the DVD and I liked it. The presenting girls were motivating, as was the soundtrack. And there were some moves I never saw. I like to try new things, so it was definately a good buy!
The DVD offers 7 15-minute workouts. A cardio workout, a core training, bum & tum,...
Each day 15 minutes plus biking/walking to university should be a good way to start. Especially since it only works with the body weight. I thought about buying all that equipment you can get, but I'll start without anything. I don't have very much money, so I'll use what I got.

I had a fun midday outside, eating outside, playing ball with my mum and the dog...

Now I'm going to learn organic chemistry emoticon
I hope you all have a good day and more time to enjoy it!

Good morning people!

Well, today my son gets me up at 5:15am. We fall back asleep until 6 when his dad's alarm goes off and we are all up. Strangely enough, I woke up ravenous this morning! I don't know why either. I'm normally a can't eat a thing until 5 hours after I'm awake kind of gal. But oh well. I ate Fibre One frosted mini wheat and milk for breakfast. I even ate a little extra. I figured that if I'm going to overeat on a meal, I'd rather do it at breakfast than at supper.

So last night I had to go out and I noticed that my tummy is further from the steering wheel than it had been recently, so I weighed this morning (even AFTER having eaten) and I lost 6.8lbs since Tuesday. That really just seems HUMANLY impossible to range that much. But oh well, that just goes to show that it wasn't a fat gain after all, there is something else going on. So, I'm not going to base my emotions on a scale or on how my clothes fit (be apparently, I can have some SERIOUS weight fluctuations!) I'm just going to keep my nose to the grindstone and eat healthy and move. If I eat healthy and I move, I WILL be healthy, regardless of what my size is. It will EVENTUALLY have to move down. Maybe I'm one of those slow losers? Who knows.

Mitchell, congrats on your presentation. If people seemed interested in what you had to say, then you should score well on it. Because in giving a presentation it isn't JUST giving the facts, but it's doing so in a manner that will keep the attention of the audience. I think you will probably get the botany job, especially since you did so well in the class before and you really have an enthusiasm for it. I definitely couldn't do what you're doing. I can't do the bleeding thing. I hit the dirt every time.

Tricky Tracy

Mom6, thank you so much :) It feels really good to be back! How are you doing with your to-do-list? I hope you don't forget to care about yourself when you got so much else to do!
And I'm proud of you because of that serious pizza-will-power!

Tracy, great attitude! When you're thinking like that, you'll definately do this! Keep up that great work!

Shelly, congrats on your WL! You lost so much already, that is really great! Have a good time on your trip! :)

TL, I totally know that feeling! Sometimes I only work out because I don't want to disappoint anyone! But I think doing it "for someone else" is okay as long as you do it for yourself most of the times and stay motivated by doing so! And btw, I'm proud of you for working out! :)

Zoe, how is work going today? I hope it's not boring again!

I have some stuff to tell you guys! So yesterday was the day of the presentation and it went great. We don't know our grade yet, but it has been a success for me already because the audience really seemed to like our work! Plus I went there by bike, although I was terribly nervous, had to bring my laptop and was afraid of being late. I'll report the grade as soon as I know.

I learned the rest of the day for my practical anthropology course and that was okay, too. I'll have a test next week. The whole course is a bit like "Bones" (the TV show) and I LOVE it. I'm thinking about writing my bachelor on that topic. Anyway, next week we have to diagnose a skeleton (gender, age, possible illnesses and factures...). We'll present the results next wednesday in a fortnight and I really hope that goes well. But I have a good feeling on this one because it's my favourite subject and the tests went well so far.

Another great thing is that the docent of the botany practical course is searching some students to work as a helper in that course. I applied today and I hope I can get that job. It is not only a great opportunity to add something to your vita, but also fun. I liked the course. I had to do it in my first year at college and I'd like to pass something on to the following students. My grade in that course was good, too, so let's see how it turns out! =)

I drove back to my parents house yesterday night. I missed the soccer game of the world championship because of it, I only listened to the report on the radio. I'm glad Germany reached the last 16. USA did, too! =) Is anyone watching the soccer championship? Soccer is huge in Germany and the streets were EMPTY yesterday evening when I drove home. I guess soccer is in Germany like football in America. Nearly everyone is watching. ;)

I got that fitness DVD I told you about and I'm going to look into it now! Have a great morning ladies! :) And I hope you're not tired after reading my monolog! emoticon
