Whew, well I did it! I felt horribly out of shape as everyone whizzed past me. When we got our results, I was the slowest person in the company coming in at 58 min and 6 seconds BUT, I finished. I walked when I was exhausted, and I jogged when I felt less winded. Hopefully I can improve my time for next year's run. I am also going to continue to push on the couch to 5k program to improve my running abilities. There were 15,000 people participating (I live in NY, the 5k was in Central Park), it was def insipring how many people were in such great shape to jog the entire event.

So, how did you do? I started the c25k last fall and been jogging ever since. I love it when I actually make it a full 30 minutes without a walk break. I have my first 5k next week. I finally got up the nerve to sign up for one - just hope I remember on the day and get up early for it emoticon

is C25K the "couch to 5k" program? if so, i did it and it was great. it really broke it down into manageable "bites". i remember the first week thinking; i can barely run 90 seconds, how will i ever run a 5k? well, i did. actually, my 1st race ended up being 4 miles (i found out 1/2 way through training). my goals were to not come in last and to do the whole thing without stopping. i happily accomplished both (although i was close to last). :-)

anyway... yay to you!! that program really works. you'll be running your 5K in no time. keep me posted.

Good luck! Sometimes it isn't about finishing first, it is about finishing for yourself! Let us know how you do:)

Congratulations for choosing a goal and sticking to it. Ok, so maybe you didn't train as much for the 5K as you would have wanted to, but you're moving ahead and doing it anyway. Take it slow. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to finish. It doesn't matter if you can't finish the race. The important thing is that you said you were going to do it and you are. It's a step in the right direction and I'm proud of you!! emoticon

I'm too old for running so I won't join you but congrats on doing the 5k tonight! Do the best you can and have fun! Congrats on the engagement too - you're on your way to that beautiful wedding dress!

Merry Christmas!

I signed up for 5K through work a few months ago and told myself I would train for it. Well, that didnt exactly happen, I went on vacation, got engaged, and life and wedding planning just took over. I am excited to say that since I started watching my foods and working out at the end of May, I feel much better. Ideally I want to lose 40 lbs for the wedding next year, but it feels great knowing that now I only need to lose 37.2 lbs. I started the C25K last week and am really enjoying it. My goal for tonights 5K is to follow the W1D3 program on my iPhone and just alternate walking and jogging until I get to the end. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can do a full 5K without any walking :-). If anyone else is taking part in the C25K program, let me know, we can motivate each other!
