Tracy, I just wish it was only one bad day. I can handle one bad day every now and then. It's just one bad day after another. My pitfall is my friends. Bad influences. Today we went out for Italian. Who can resist fresh, hot rolls with butter? I just lack willpower. Life has been financially stressful (although, we finally got that $5000 overpayment reversed!). 2 of my very best friends are moving in the next 2 weeks. I've got 2 puppies who refuse to potty train and do that annoying nervous peeing when I look in their direction. It just too much.

You know, think of when kids learn to walk. They don't just stand up and start running. (Ok, some do and they're the lucky ones, but most don't) They start doing small things, like scooting on their butts first. Then rocking on their hands and knees and then before you know they're crawling (some even backwards!). Before long they're pulling up on stuff and taking those first steps, but before you know it, they're off and they ARE running.

That's what this is about. We got to start scooting on our butts first. We can't just take off running at the opening of the gate. So, you had a bad day today. Figure out why you had a bad day and try to learn from it. Tomorrow is going to dawn bright and beautiful and just remember it IS a new day. We're here with you guys. We're walking the same path. When I was feeling bummed the other day, you guys REALLY uplifted me and helped me gain perspective on what I'm doing. I just hope I can do the same for you guys. :)

Hey Rachel, Here's hoping we'll both have a better day tomorrow. I know how you feel about quitting. I didn't want to keep tracking after lunch either, but I did. It was depressing. Hugs to you.

I have been a total failure today. Ate about twice the calories that I should, maybe even more. Gave up on tracking when I had met my amount just after lunch. Didn't get all of my exercise in because of how I felt and then because I developed a rash between my legs. I'm hoping to have a better day tomorrow but I really don't know if I will. I wish I wasn't going through a med change right now because it is only making things more difficult for me. Here's wishing for a happier tomorrow.

Hi all,

Shelly, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I feel terrible for you all. I'll keep you all in my thoughts. Hug your daughter lots.

I haven't been doing so well myself. I have zero will power. I just don't know why I can't do this. I've lost weight successfully before. My life seems out of control and I just can't say no. I think about all you ladies and how wonderful you're all doing. For now I'll just keep trudging along.

Good night.

Shelly I'll be praying for her so that she can get through this. She sure has been through an awful lot for one so young. Keep us posted.

Just stopping in quickly. Thank you for the prayers, they mean a lot to me and I have passed them on to my daughter as well.

An autopsy is going to be performed. It is unclear why he died. He was a member of the swim team and a very good swimmer at that. There were about 30 kids, 20 adults, and 2 life guards there for a private birthday party. Another kid pulled him from 3 feet of water. He was in the shallow end when he drowned. I just don't understand! The middle school opened its doors this afternoon and provided counseling for the kids.

My daughter is not handling this well at all. She refused to go to the school today. She's already told me she doesn't think she can go to yet another funeral. We buried her Dad, my ex husband, in August. A friend from her youth group died in a car accident over spring break. A friend from school took her own life in January. In November a boy her best friend dated took his life when she broke up with him. Its just too much for her to handle. I can't even to begin to comprehend how horrible these past months have been and now this.

They say life goes on after death, but explain that to my 13 year old daughter.

Shelly, I'm so sorry to hear about that! Do you know how that could happen?! Wasn't he able to swim?
I hope your daughter can cope with that. Children really shouldn't worry about death. But it sounds like you do everything you can to support her with that, so I'm sure she will get better soon.

Zoe, I really like to hear that you go out and walk regularly! You'll see, in no time it's a habit you don't even think about! :)

Rachel, I hope your back problems get better and that you can do your workout as you planned! Back pain is aweful, I have problems with my back, as well, although it is not often so bad. It stops you from wanting to move and that is the least we need. So good luck with that! I'm looking forward to hearing how it went for you today :)

I'm back in my flat in Goettingen, all by myself. I don't like to be alone, but I need do work seriously for the next weeks, as the exams start in juli. I walked with the dog this afternoon and did my strength workout. I'll stretch tonight before going to bed and until then I'll be busy unpacking the car. I hope everyone has a good afternoon and evening!

Good morning everyone. It sounds like for the most part things are going well for people.

Shelly so sorry to hear about the death. That is a lot for your daughter to have to deal with. I'll keep everyone in my prayers.

mom6 glad that you got some time in with your mom. For me that is always something special. Especially since my mom lives a couple of states away. I'm so thankful that I can talk to her on the phone most every day.

Shelly sounds like you had a great dinner. And saving some for lunch today was a great idea.

Ginger congrats on your eating over the weekend. Sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up.

Mitchell sounds like you have something to work towards. I'm sure that the reward will be well worth the hard work that goes into getting there.

Tracy I'm glad that you were able to get out. Happy birthday in case I forget. Your birthday is the day before mine.

Zoe, good for you for getting up and going walking even though you didn't have a lot of time. Also great that you aren't having as much to recycle since you have changed eating habits.

I had a pretty good weekend aside from bad weather and my back pain. I was able to go to the chiropractor first thing this morning so my back is feeling much better than it was. So glad that he was able to fit us in. I spent a lot of time reading this weekend. We picked up movies yesterday when we went shopping. They are an early birthday gift for me. I really enjoyed the ones that we watched so far even though they are horror movies. Couldn't watch them by myself though. I have plans to get my workouts in again today and I know I can do it. It was nice to have my rest day to relax from working out yesterday. Hope that everyone has a terrific day.

Shelly- Your daughter and her friends, as well as his family will be in my prayers. I cannot imagine having to bury a child. It just seems against nature.

Hi all! I forced myself to walk this morning and as usual I'm glad I did. Didn't go as far as I wanted but I had a time limitation, so I walked as fast as I could.

Now that you mention it, my trash has gotten smaller too! My son used to complain we had more trash than any of his friends (he has to take it out) but I didn't think anything of it. Now I see there is a lot less - no pizza boxes or take out cups and bags, no preprocessed food boxes. Wow, that is something!

Have a great Monday all!

OMG ladies! I just got a call, one of my oldest daughter's friends died last night!!! He was 12 years old and drowned in a pool at the country club near our house during a pool party! He was in less than 3 feet of water. Its just horrific! This will be 4 funerals my 13 year will have attended in 10 months. I haven't told her yet. She is going to be devestated. This is not what any kid should have to deal with. She has been through so much. I wish there were a way I could keep this from her. I guess I'll have to call her therapist and give him a heads up.

Mom6- I'm glad you enjoyed yourself with your Mom. :) And it's good to sometimes let those lists just stay lists. There's always tomorrow to do it.

Shelly- My favourite meat is steak. *L* Dinner sounds good and HUZZAH! on having it again for leftovers! I have a niece that's 11 and she's almost 5'4" and she's only 90lbs if she's wet. Right now she's in that stage where her arms and legs are SUPER long and her torso isn't. And she gets made fun of all the time for her weight and her hair (she has some seriously BRIGHT red hair). She just tells them all to bugger off. *L*

Ginger- I wouldn't count that as minor at all! That genuinely says something about your new eating habits. Especially since Monday IS your Friday. That means you're there all weekend without the bin being taken out and you didn't have vending OR takeout! I think that's positively awesome, personally!

Mitchell- That's so cool that you guys got your reservations for hiking. :) Now you have a goal to be fit for hiking! :) I know around here hiking requires being healthy. *L*

Well, for me, this weekend went as weekends go. I worked out some, I ate some. I'm adjusting to my meds. I took wee man out yesterday since it was cooler. We went for a walk around my neighborhood. He got to sit in his stroller and enjoy the sights. Then we went and saw a friend of mine that has a son a couple of months older than he is. And then it was time to come home. :) Otherwise, my weekend wasn't anything special. :) Now, weekend after next will be. It's my birthday on the 18th and father's day on the 20th. :)

Mom6, I'm glad you had a good weekend! I spend mine at home with my Mum, too ;) I love the days where it's just the two of us.
I hope you get something off your to do list today and congrats on eating healthier this weekend!

Shelly, great job on the meal yesterday night! Sounds really yummy :)
Your daughter is really lucky!
I recently read something about shin splits. The article said that you should be careful when you got them because you can injure your muscle really bad when you don't let it heal some time! Please be careful! There were also two exercises you can do to prevent further shin splits: The first one goes like this: stand on the stairs facing upstairs and your heels hangig over the edge of the step and then Push yourself up and down. The second one was to sit or lie down and then paint the alphabet in the air with your feet. I didn't try it yet, but perhaps it can prevent some pain!

Ginger, I think you have every right to be happy about that! Really good work! emoticon
And you can really be proud of your daughter. She seems to have a good amout of self-esteem! :)

BF and I booked a hotel in Slovenia this summer (beginning of September). We're going hiking! I'm really happy. And it's good I started to lose weight and to do some training! Otherwise I wouldn't be able to do it. It's a good motivation for the next months :)

Ginger - Actually we're not happy about her losing weight. She doesn't have anything to lose hardly. She is 13 years old, 5'9" and 115 lbs. Its to be expected the way she is growing and her volleyball training but still, she has no fat on her body. And don't get me started about mean kids. My oldest was teased mercilessly in 4th grade because she was "bigger" than all the girls. She was heads and shoulders taller than all the other girls and she outweighed them but was still rail thin. She was at a bday party and one snooty little girl wanted all her guests to get on the scale. Well it showed my daughter weighing more. So the teasing insued. We actually sought help from her Dr because she was developing an eating disorder at 10 years old. My advice, nip that crap right now. Do not let those kids tease her about being too thin or too big. Get the school involved. I used to be teased for being too skinny and so I started to eat just to shut people up. Don't let your daughter be self conscious about her body already. I'm glad she stood up for herself but keep an eye on that. Ok lecture over. LOL

Congrats on the garbage can!! Its not silly. We noticed the same thing with our recycling containers. We only use 2 now instead of 4, no more fast food bags, no boxes, less waste. Its actually a pretty cool feeling. Not only are we doing something good for us we are doing something good for the environment. emoticon

Good morning to everyone. My weekend was filled with working goodness and I am happy because Monday is my Friday! I did notice something really interesting today that I don't think I have ever seen on a Monday morning... the bottom of my trash bin. The janitor (forgive me, I don't know the PC term for him. I call him Chris but you don't know him so that doesn't actually help.) Anyway! The janitor comes round on Friday morning and then again on Monday so my trash bin is traditionally full up with vending machine wrappers or fast food meal containers. Sometimes to the point of overflowing.
Today, however, there were 3 sandwich baggies and 2 banana peels in there. Seriously! How amazing is that?!?! Am I getting a little too pumped about something that appears minor?

TEACHRMOM6 - Nice to hear you had a good time with your mom. Sometimes it's good to not get anything done on the weekend, it usually means you were having fun.

SHELLYL74 - Oh my! I want dinner at your house! There hasn't been any good watermelon around yet and steak is my favorite! Well, maybe sweet potatoes... emoticon job by your eldest! Good luck on your run!

My DD is a twig and she was SO upset that she was skinny that I had to take her to the doctor. She was weighed and measured and the doctor told her she's absolutely normal. While we were there we learned the "bigger" kids were picking on her for her weight. I was livid but I let her handle it. She said she went and told them all weights are normal and if they didn't like it they could just move on. I love her so much, she's far far wiser than her 11 years and much much kinder than her mom. LMAO

Mom6 - I know what you mean about proving it to yourself. The desire is there, the want is there, you just have to convince yourself that you have the willpower and drive to acheive what you want. Glad you are sticking with it!

We grilled last night. Steak, veggie kabobs, salad, and watermelon. Leftovers for lunch today. WooHoo! My oldest got on the scale last night. She has LOST 11 lbs in the past 12 months. Maybe more recently than that but at least since her last physical. That's crazy!!! She is super skinny. She eats so much food but she is growing like I have never seen before so I guess all that food is being used as fuel to grow. I wish I could do that! I wouldn't mind growing another 5". lol I ran last night despite my legs hurting. And guess what? I'm sitting here icing my knees and shins waiting for the hubs to get back from his run so I can head out the door. Does this mean I'm old that I have to ice before I run? LOL

Have a great day! I will check in with you all later on.

Happy Monday, all:) Wondering where the weekend went?
We had a wonderful visit with my Mom! I got literally nothing done this weekend, but my to-do list is still there, lol. Don't think it's going away;). Ate better this weekend than I have in the past so I know I'm getting in the SWING. It takes me awhile to prove to myself that I CAN do this and not want immediate results. I FEEL BETTER! Back to exercising tonite, which is helping I know. Have a great start to your week. Be back after work! BLESSINGS TO YOU!!
