We are going to Illinois at the end of June for my BIL's wedding. I've been worried about finding something to wear. I started looking on-line at dresses to get an idea, but I'm cheap. So I started looking in my closet. OMG I can actually fit into a few of my pre-pregnancy clothes. I can safely say I have dropped 1 dress size and 2 depending on what it is. I started May 4th wearing a size 16. I actually fit, ok squeezed into but the zipper worked, a size 10 skirt!!!!!!! Can't zip a size 12 jean but that's ok. I will get there!!!!

I opted to not work-out today. My body is tired and the husband keeps telling me I need to listen to it and quit being stubborn. So I'm listening to it but still stressing over it. I will run tomorrow morning! I will wake up at 5:15 am! I will push myself for 1 block more just because I rested today! If I say it here I have to do it!

Zoe - welcome aboard!!:) Tracy - Montessori works well if combined with more traditional approaches to preschool - pre-K. If left to themselves with no teacher direction, kids tend to gravitate to what they KNOW and leave behind work they really need to have. We combine the best of both and it works well:) Cecelia and AuntR - glad to see you both with us and making progress. I've did well today although I ate two WW oatmeal cookies back-to-back and I'm trying to keep carb a little lower than I have been. OH well, I still ate healthy and exercised...getting there ONE DAY AT A TIME! Thanks for the posts, comments, and friendship along the way. I love to read what you say even if it takes me awhile to respond. Have a good nite...see you all tmw!

Mitchell, if you are familiar with Oberammergau, then you know about the Passion Play - that is what the highlight of the trip will be. Thanks for the tips. Keep them coming if you can think of more. You can go to my Spark Page.

CFRUIK76, and everyone else, it is so true that this system works. I had some issues and quit and let my emotions guide me so I gained weight. But this program is awesome and Chris is a saint for starting this site.

Have a great evening! And thanks for the welcomes.

Wow, sounds like everyone's been busy busy busy. I'm mom to 3 girls, ages 3, 6, and 13. We don't do volleyball or soccer. My 2 oldest do classical Ballet, so I know all about the driving!! We're at the studio 5 days a week! This is our last week of school before summer break, so it's gonna be busy.

Zoe-Welcome back! I'm a returning SP member too. I lost 50, but gained 25 back :( Since the site had new features, I figured it would just be easier to start all over again. We know how it works, and most importantly that it DOES work!

Congrats to everyone on their loss so far. And don't be afraid of the scale. I was in denial for a year, and out of nowhere 25lbs showed up!

I've never been out of the states, and even being military, we haven't been stationed anywhere exciting. I'd love to see Europe some day!!

SHELLY-I keep frozen Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers meals handy for those times I don't feel like cooking. Is it cheating? Eh, maybe, but I'm all for making life a little easier!

Welcome Zoe!

Congrats Tracy!

Mitchell - I'll have to double check with hubby to remember the cities he was in. I know for grad he was near Munich. I can't remember where in Austria at all though.

Lacking any and all motivation today. I don't want to work out. I don't want to cook. I don't want to do anything that I need to do. I ran my kids where they needed to be this morning and now all I want to do is nap. I should eat more than berries for lunch but that requires me cooking something and I don't wanna. emoticon I know, grow up and suck it up. I'll get it done just not as much as I should.

Tracyduka, congratulations on your weight loss! emoticon Looks like you had a successful week!
I'm a bit nervous about my first weigh in on friday... I didn't step on a scale for almost two years before I started here last friday and I have the feeling that I can't possibly change the digits on the scale :/ I hope there will be a change on friday, everything else would be horrible for my motivation.
By the way, may I ask what you did in Augsburg? Were you there for a vacation? I never was there myself, but as it is in the south of Germany I bet it's a beautiful old town like Ingolstadt or Munich, isn't it?

Zoe, emoticon ! I hope that this time you'll stick to it and lose more and more
What a great vacation! You'll get to see a lot of places on that trip! I know Munich and Oberammergau and I would recommend eating in a "Wirtschaft" in Oberammergau. They are traditional bavarian restaurants with a very rustic flair (dirndl's and all ;) ), although the portion size is very big for German measures (just so you can plan that in your nutrition). Another great thing in Oberammergau are christian figures carved from wood. They are hand made and some are really huge, others fit in ones palm. There are a lot of shops which sell them, perhaps you want to take a look. :)
Munich has a very old city hall with an impressive Glockenspiel (chime of bells it is in English, I think) that plays every hour and I think the Stachusplatz (a big open place just in front of the city center and the main shopping street with parts of the old city wall still standing) is worth a stop on a tour.

AuntRachel, emoticon ! Over and hour is a great time! Keep up the good work!

I just came back from the practical course and I walked the total of two miles in 40 minutes and I didn't stop for ice cream at the shop at the corner. I must say I'm a bit proud.

Hi everyone,

I'm just in between errands. About to go have lunch with my mom at a yummy Mexican restaurant. I'll be good, just tortilla soup. Later on I'll catch up on everyone's post. Just so glad everyone is back for another week!

Good morning! Today is a great day as I'm not feeling depressed. I rode my exercise bike for a total of 65 minutes yesterday. That is the longest that I have rode it in one day since I got it almost a month ago. I don't really have any plans for today other than to stick with my goals.

They are:
Keep track of what I eat and keep my calories between 1800 and 2000. Ride the exercise bike for 15 minutes 3 times a day. Test my blood sugars at least once a day and give myself my insulin.

So far I have tested my blood sugars which were 122. Not bad for me for a fasting blood sugar.

I hope that everyone has a terrific day.

Can I join in? I'm Zoe and I'm 50-something living in Arizona where it is already hot, hot, hot. Last year I lost 25 pounds on SP, quit, gained 20, and now I'm back for good this time. I'm too old to keep putting things off, like my life.

Shelly, have you tried wrapping your shins with ace bandages? Back in the day I was a cheerleader and we used to do that all the time. I think you'll have to rest them a bit to let them heal. I know I'm prone to plantar fascitis and have to read the signs so I don't get it again. (Painful feet)

All this talk of Germany is exciting because I am going there in July. I've never been to Europe and will be with a tour group for most of it. We start in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, then Oberammergau for the Passion Play, then Munich and Frankfurt. Any tips?

And Tracy - don't listen to your ex's voice in your head or any other negative voices. You're on your way to a new woman!

Good Morning everyone! :D Well, after having mad crazy dreams all night long that woke me going "HUH?!?!" I realized that today...is weigh in day. So I being the skeptical "Ms. Downside" (as my ex jokingly called me), nervously approached the scale. I do what we all do, strip down and weigh. And I LOST 2.2LBS! YAY!I'm so stoked! :D I did a jiggle dance and everything!

Mitchell, I used to live in Augsburg. I think that Germany is such a beautiful country. And kudos to you for walking to the grocery. I'll be honest, even if I lived right next door, I couldn't do it.

Shelly, I wish I could help you with the shin splits. I've never been athletic so I have no clue about them.

Mom6- I've read a little about that teaching style. I'm not sure if I read biased material or not, and there isn't much material on it that I could find. How does that work out? Do you find that it has much better results than traditional schooling or homeschooling? I'm interested in learning about all sorts of teaching methods, as I don't think that there is any one superior method, as learning is so individual.

*ETA 2.2 instead of 2.3lbs. Sorry!

Shelly, I study in Goettingen, near Kassel right in the center of Germany! Where did your husband go to university in Germany / Austria? Now I'm nosey! lol
My real name is Michèle but Mitchell is some sort of nick name I got back in school.

Need to go now or I won't make it! See you later :)

Good morning. Its going to be a busy week. I ran again last night. Not far, maybe a mile. My shins are killing me. I always got shin splints when I played soccer when I was in school and now I have them again. Anyone know how to get rid of them or avoid them. Ugh!

I'll probably get on the elliptical today, not sure I will have a chance to do a run today. I've got kids to get to the library and my oldest starts volleyball camp today for the next 8 weeks, 3 days a week, 5 hours a day and its 25 miles from here. I should just make her walk. emoticon lol

I forgot to take meat out of our freezer last night so we went out to eat. I thought I ordered something that was ok but then when it arrived it was swimming in butter. Nasty! So I shared my husband's oversized salad.

Mitchell (or is it Michele?), good for you for getting out and walking to more places. If you walk to the store you have to be careful about what you buy because you'll have to carry it back. Completely unrelated: Where abouts in Germany are you? My husband went to University in Germany and Austria for a couple of years. I'm always nosey. lol

Mom6 - It sounds like the childcare is your business. In your house? Or do you have a center? That has to be a lot of work. I have 2 under age 3 and they are plenty for me. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can do childcare.

Alright, off to get 1 kid dressed and 2 more woken up. Have a great day all!

Mom6, a group family childcare sounds great! What an ambitious project! We could really need projects like that in Germany. There is not enough childcare at all and that is a reason why most of the girls my age decide against having children.

Going shopping went really well. The only not sooo healthy product that went in my shopping bag was a cream cheese with 17% fat. But wheee! No sweets! :)
And I walked there instead of driving! It's only half a mile but the stuffed shopping bag makes it harder ;)

I have to read stuff for university now and then WALK to the practical course! Hopefully...

For lunch I tried two recipes from sparkrecipes.com and was very pleased! I tried "Chicken Thighs With Creole Mustard Orange Sauce" along with "Cauliflower "Mashed Potatoes"".

Keep up the good work everyone! :)

HAPPY TUESDAY, BUDDIES! Mitchell - good plan to go shopping when you've just eaten! I should try that ALL the time so extras don't get into my grocery cart:)(well at least only the ones that my four yr. old throws in lol.) I have a group family childcare and we function pretty much like a large family; I do have a Montessori classroom for our 2-5 yr olds. It's a lot of work, but I've been very blessed over the many years! I hope you and the rest of our 'buddies' have a great day and take care of...YOU:) I'll check back in later to see what you guys are up to:) CHEERS and BLESSINGS!

Good morning everyone! (at least it's morning in Germany, I hope you're still sleeping!)

I had a healthy breakfast and I am back in the town where I study. I was at my parents house for the weekend - so no food in the fridge here. I will go shopping now and I will try to keep away from everything NOT on my healthy shopping list. Going shopping is a major theme for me because I tend to buy sweets and unhealthy stuff when I'm not really careful! I therefore try to go shopping only once a week and only when I just ate something. I hope that'll work!

Later I have a practical course at the university. I will try to walk instead of driving there. It's about 1 mile from my flat, so I can totally do that when I'm not too lazy.

MOM6, how was your school day? And by the way, how old are the kids in your class? Or do you have more than one class? I'm not so familiar with the American school system, but really interested!

Have a great day and keep on track! =)
