Wow Cyndy! Perseverance is everything, isn't it! CONGRATULATIONS on your DL. I'm so very proud of you. Such a big step in life and in your sobriety! Just wonderful!

I am having a lot of family time, especially this summer. I am also enjoying time with my closest friends. I'm so grateful for the benefits of retirement and sobriety.

I'm grateful that you continue to be willing to lead this team. It is not always rewarding when members do not participate, but you/I have no control over that. I think that especially on a team based on sobriety, members will come and go because so many chose not to stay alcohol free. Also, I've noticed that participation on Sparkpeople in general during the summer is less consistent because of vacations, schedule changes, etc. I know I'm somewhat inconsistent depending on what pulls me away from home and my computer.

I think that this team is like AA. We keep the doors open so that someone in need can get help if they seek it. Until then, you and I and others keep posting and sharing our experiences, our strength, and our hope.

I am worried about Sherre. I think she is not well again. I haven't heard from her when I've reached out. I think I am going to "lurk" on the team she leads. That is where I got information the last time she was so ill.

I'm sending you love tonight. You are a miracle and someone who inspires me always!

Sending out blessings to all the LATI team members. Sobriety changes lives.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

Happy Wednesday Evening Leslie!
After a few tries and perserveranceSUCCESS!
I came home from Pomona DMV with a Interim Driver's License. Awaiting the Real ID License into my mailbox. I was patient. I remained cool and calm. They questioned my marriage license. It was not a fast process. I did receive my brand new certified birth certificate from San Bernardino. Showed it to them. It is a pretty certificate with a blue border. All my paperwork was correct and right this time. Had to do the fingerprint with my thumb three times. Last thing was to take my picture. Buh emoticon to Pomona DMV. Joe and I went to breakfast. Although I did not have much of an appetite.

Hope you are doing well. And Chris is too! Lots of family time for you with your grandchildren.
Pool time emoticon emoticon

I don't know what else to do here on this team. Any suggestions?
I could do Question of the Day, It works okay on a team I am on. And I do participate.
A goodie is sent to the team members once or twice a month. To the team members that answer the question.

I appreciate your participation and sharing Leslie. It was nice to see Sherre post once in awhile.

Wishing you all Awesome Sobriety and Health LATI Team.

You are Welcome Leslie!
My summer has been good! What great weather we have had in Southern California. And I have not gone to the beach.

12 years is great! Best wishes to your sponsee! May her days sober and working the steps with you be memorable! Her Sponsor is Awesome!

Wishing you and Chris a nice 4th of July emoticon emoticon
No fireworks today. Pretty mellow day for Joe and I. Early lunch. Then go by Bert and Rockys Ice Cream shop in Claremont.

Thank you for the team goodie, Cyndy!!!
Hope your summer is going well.
Hope everyone is staying sober and serene!

One of my sponsees is asking to work the steps again. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve sponsored her for 12 years now. She has recently retired and life has changed for her so she wants to stay healthy and sober. It is always so good for me as a sponsor to do the steps with someone.
Blessings to you all!

ONG!! I SPOKE TOO SOON! LOL, I just went to my Spark page and saw all the goodies you girls gave me!!! I was certainly not behaving like a true southern gal when I did not properly say "Thank You Very Much".

Thank You Cyndy for the beach ball, bike, dumbbells, high five and the sweet wings. I have been in the gym 5 times this week and just got off my bike so those where excellent choices. Hubby and I go to the beach about once every 2 weeks so thumbs up on beachball also, and the wings and high five hit the motivation button. emoticon

Good Morning Leslie,

It's baffling how strong a grip alcohol has on our lives. I will hold you, your mother and brother in my prayers this week.

Sobriety...9 Days, I look forward to learning to live each day without the impulsive responses and foggy thoughts. My husband wanted me to go with him to San Juan this am for an extended overnight trip but I turned it down knowing our habits that it's safe to drink "Just one with dinner, no a second will not hurt", then within a week we return to our one or two heavy days of drinking. Daily check in's for me but I think this 'Chatty Chic' will quit occupying so much space here with peaceful, drama free sober living.

Hi everyone,
Renee, your May was certainly a huge challenge. Thank you for trusting us to share it all. I will keep you all in my prayers for continued sobriety and peaceful days!
This is a family disease! That’s certainly my experience. But we can transcend its ugly grip!
Wishing you all a good week.
I have some challenges ahead with my mom and addicted brother. It’s a toxic situation but being sober is the only way I stay sane and rational and able to meet the challenges!

Thank you Cyndi,

I hope you come from the dentist with a marvelous, pain free smile. LOL, not a professional drinker at all by that definition, many an embarrassing moment and need for help. I thought I coined the term for myself, irregardless I'm prayerful to have finally retired from drinking.

Prayers for all who are still struggling to Live Above the Influence. Happy Sunday

Hi Renee!
Thank you for sharing. Sending you more blessings and prayers in this month of June!
Congrats on 6 days alcohol free, Renee!

A professional drinker = is a person who can handle his or her alcohol without ever having anybody take care of them or embarrassing themselves.

That is great! Your daughter is going to A.A. 15 days alcohol free! Likes the meeting she goes to! Your husband is 6 days sober. emoticon

Wishing you a Happy Sunday Renee! And many healthy sober days!

ENJOY A HAPPY SUNDAY LATI TEAM!
I'll be back to share more. Much going on. Trying to accomplish and finish. Visits to the dentist. Busy Month of June for me.
Wishing you all Great sober days and Happiness within!

Well, today is day 6. I can't believe the ups and downs of my drinking since I last posted. I will not write a journal but I do need to say many "Thank You's" for those that sent prayers my way.I know that is how I have blessings from May.

I had another 18 days sober and received a text from my daughter that her fianc had broken off the engagement. I drove 2 hours to her house (passed the police officer my RN license to get out of ticket) and upon arriving discovered a 'handle' of empty vodka and empty large box of wine on the kitchen counter. My daughter began retelling as much of the previous nights events as she remembered, the box of wine she consumed in 2 days and the vodka was all drank that night by her alone...5ft 9, 115lbs!! I prayed for guidance, thankful for 18 days on the counter and discussed that as a 'professional drinker' I had never consumed that much alcohol in a night or even a week. Thank God that we were able to talk over several hours and SHE came to the realization that the problem that led to the breakup was a result of the actual problem, her alcoholism.

She has 15 days on her counter now, found a womens' AA meeting that she loves and is seeing a counselor. Her fianc has moved back and is very supportive of her sobriety.

Today is also my husbands day 6...He lay in bed all day 1 with a grey complexion and fearful look refusing to allow me to call 911. I hope and pray that he remembers how afraid of death he was, I have written his obit with that day's date and the cause of death being alcoholism and taped it to the fridge.

So, yes...that really is the abbreviated version of May. Happy Weekend to all "LATI" team members and thanks for allowing me to spew.

Hi Sober Inspiring Ladies!
Cyndy- I bet your birth certificate will show up right after all this stuff is done. I love that you are powering through this. And sobriety is certainly making it possible!

My jury duty panel was dismissed. Our case was settled about noon that day so we all danced our way out of the court house. Woo Hoo.
So I was able to babysit Liam last Thursday and then again yesterday. I’m home from San Diego today and getting back into the swing of my normal routine.

Sherre, keep joining the chat. It’s so nice to hear your wisdom again.
Cyndy, enjoy your day.

And to all our LATI team. Sobriety Rocks!

Hi Sherre and Leslie!

Thank you so much Sherre! It is great to see you posting! I enjoyed reading your share. Is this your new computer that is working today? Lily-bug and Luci, I like the names of your dogs.
A great mom you are, cooking Doug his favorites! Enjoy your Tuesday staying cool and comfortable.

Hi Leslie! Wish you well with your iPad and it soon works the way it should. Did you get excused from Jury Duty. I know I'm late asking this question? Hope you did.
My application is now notarized. Getting ready to soon mail it. I need the green certified card and then I'll address it. Send it out at the post office. After San Bernardino County recorder's office receives it. 7-10 days for processing.
Wow?! I'll wait to receive it. Back to the DMV! My humble opinion about all of this. Is... don't ever lose your original Birth Certificate! It is very valuable. I knew that. As many times as I have had to copy and use it through the years? Where and when did I lose it?

Sobriety has keep me calm through all of this. Back in my drinking days. I would have been inebriated and upset.

I am Sober emoticon

Hugs to you Sherre and hugs to you Leslie! Thank you so very much!

Hi Sherre and Cyndy,
So good to see you back here, Sherre!!!!!!!!!
I will keep this short as I am on my iPad and it is the one that is having difficulty with apostrophes and other punctuation. I do not know what that is about, but others have complained about the same thing on their iPads. I am not able to correct it, but I will keep researching it.
Until then, stay sober and at peace.
Hug,
Leslie

Hi LATI team,
Cyndy, sounds like you are continuing to take great care of your health! Good luck with your colonoscopy! I have them every year now due to my Ulcerative Colitis. I never enjoy the prep. But they are necessary.

I’m sorry about the birth certificate issues. But I’m so glad you are pursuing your drivers license! Yay You!

I’m doing well. I’ve been so busy lately. A benefit of being sober, for sure.

I have jury duty this week. I’ll call tomorrow to see if I’m called on Wednesday. I’ll head down to the San Bernardino County court house if I’m called. I have so much babysitting for my kids in Riverside and San Diego since it’s the end of the school year and they are teachers. So I hope to be dismissed this time, or get an extension for the summer.

Last night’s AA meeting was good. We had a 24 year old who has just moved here from Tennessee. She has 3 years sobriety and is adjusting to life in CA. So nice to meet someone new. She was inspiring!

Well, have a wonderful sober week everyone!

Hi Leslie.
Thank you for posting and your sharing! You've been enjoying yourself. Visiting with your loving aunt. Up to Big Bear for a yoga retreat! So relaxing. Hope your stay was superb!
How is Chris? Sending well wishes and prayers!

Excuse my not answering, No replies and sharing on the team lately by me. Busy trying to get a Real ID License. And my birth certificate was not accepted. Some where I misplaced or lost my original birth certificate and I only have a copy of it. So I needed to get a notarized application signed. Sending it off later on this week to San Bernardino. I was born in Ontario.
Will be my third time over to Pomona DMV. Appointment is recommended.

Well LATI Team? Please share? Anyone still trying to stop drinking? We can help you. If you don't post we can't support you.

Enjoy your Sunday and upcoming week!

I will be getting a colonscopy on Tuesday. Prepping on Monday. Found a new dentist to go to A women dentist. My previous dentist was not taking good care of me.
emoticon Sober Life is the BEST! Saved mine.

Hi Cyndy and Renee,
Both of you have started my day off on a positive and uplifting note. Thank you.

Im at the Ontario airport in So. Cal right now waiting for my flight to Sacramento to visit my loving aunt (who I consider my mom) for 4 days. Chris couldnt come as he is having dental issues that need care this week. He has some consequences to the radiation for his cancer, but we are still so grateful that all looks well and he will continue to heal.

Life is good and I am blessed. Im especially blessed to have you both today on this journey of continued sobriety.

Great share Renee! ETOH, I haven't read the abbreviation in a long time.
Tachycardia after drinking? When alcohol is oxidized by the liver, a by product is produced called acetylaldehyde. This often causes a rapid heartbeat, and sometimes an increase in blood pressure.
Acetylaldehyde, I know that word very well.
Living with cirrhosis. I read about alcoholism and the liver, kidneys, gall bladder, etc. Still much to learn.
You can have and enjoy a long sober life. Takes dedication and work by you to do it. A great accomplishment you will be proud of. You will value your sobriety so much more. No alcohol for the rest of your life? Can you do it? Yes you can!

I did not think I could until I did. I knew I had to, or would suffer the consequences. You are not where I was. Or there now. If a doctor tells you to stop drinking or you will die. You listen and do it. It was not easy. I had a choice.

TODAY I AM NOT DRINKING! Well Said, Renee!

HI Leslie! Sending you blessings! Loved your posting to Renee, I enjoyed reading it!

Enjoy your week LATI Team. Come by and share.

I'm ready for my cup of coffee and breakfast.

Thank You Leslie

For 'listening' and sharing your journey. Lovely story of family and life beyond ETOH (alcohol). Congrats on a whopping 17 YEARS!!! I saw your beautiful family picture on your home page, I see why you are so proud of both them and yourself.

I know that drinking became a habit for me, I reach for it when I'm bored, stressed, celebrating, etc. TODAY I AM NOT DRINKING! If my husband had read my last post he would have told me it was overly dramatic and revealing too many personal experiences, too much reality. I agree with him, we can pretend or forget our drinking isn't bad but actually seeing it written down has power for me. I pray that I come re-read my posts when the obsession starts in my head.

Thank you again for your support

Renee,
Thank you for your heartfelt and honest story and for trusting us with your intimate thoughts!!! We all have our stories with details that may be different, but they all end in demoralization, shame, destruction, guilt, insanity, and in my case thoughts of suicide.
I am so glad you are here. My "horror film" finally came to an end 17 years and 1 month ago after many failed attempts at controlled drinking, white knuckle abstinence, and half measured sobriety. My 3 boys were launched (the youngest son was 2 months from graduating and heading to college.....the older 2 were already well into college or done). My husband and I had been married for 30 years. I was 49 years old and finally surrendered and put myself in rehab. The family legacy of alcoholism brought me to my knees.

Life has never been better. But, I have continued to work on personal, spiritual, emotional growth, improve my marriage, and make living amends to all those I love. My three boys are now 35, 38 and 40. They are successful, loving men with families and strong relationships. More over they love to be with me. And I'm honored to be very close to my grand kids. My husband and I have been married 47 years (together 49) and have worked hard to stay healthy and strong. Life has its inevitable challenges. It's part of the deal, but tackling those challenges is so much easier without mind altering substances!

May God continue to bless us all. Here's to another sober day.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

Hello,
Congrats to you long time "Living Above the Influence" success stories. I hope I will be able to enjoy a long sober life. I had joined another sober SparkTeam but felt the majority of the team had a goal of 'controlled drinking'. I have a long story of alcohol in my life, I was an AL-ANON member for many years having heavy drinking parents. My husband's father died at 42 from Alcohol abuse.

My 3 children have grown up and gone off, oldest son and father of 2 is Airforce pilot, my daughter is in Doctorate of Physical Therapy school and my youngest son is finishing his Business degree. My husband and I moved to Orlando, FL thinking "If you build it they will come". I have had a long career in Oncology Nursing and Mental health but I did not enjoy my profession here and had to 'retire' due to the horrible narcotics addiction problems in this area...RN stood for Refreshments and Narcotics, how ironic to be posting this on a sobriety forum.

Both my husband and I had increased our drinking to Rock-Star measures, waking up with chest pain and tachycardia looking for more booze to 'get over the hump'. It sounds like the horror film 'Days of Wine and Roses'. I wrote a eulogy for my husband and handed it to him saying it was our next step. We both are on Day 3 sober but he is planning his year for "Drinking Events" like football games in Sept., vacations.... I KNOW my sobriety is MY choice.

Day 3, Thanks for 'listening'

Hi Team,
Cyndy I love hearing your deep commitment to your sobriety. I feel the exact same way. Alcohol broke me too. The rebuilding process has been amazing but not easy. The rewards never stop. Putting down the alcohol is just the beginning of the journey. The personal work is so intense. I am so grateful that I have been graced with a sober life.

Yes Easter is coming. It always gives me the intense feeling of new birth and new life.
I will be going to San Diego on Sunday afternoon to babysit my littlest grandson Sunday night and Monday. A great way to celebrate Easter.

Today I went to Temecula for lunch with my two best friends. Tomorrow, I'm going to a yoga class, then a bible study, then we are going to see my 5 year old grandson play T-ball. Wednesday I'm going to a 3 hour yoga workshop. Thursday I have errands and lots of "to do's". Friday I will pick up my grand kids at school. They have a half day. So fun!

Life is so full and wonderful all because I chose to get well and stay sober. What a blessing.
Life is also very challenging, but so much easier without alcohol.

Sending you all blessings for a great week.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

Happy Sunday and Good morning LATI Team!

Hi Leslie,
Thank you! Very inspiring to read, I love it! 6 women, so awesome! Receiving chips for their sober days and months! The Women's AA meeting it is a great one, that you go to. Just by reading your sharing about it. Enjoy a wonderful Sunday!

My first years of sobriety I felt this good feeling and I still do. My need to stay sober was very strong and stays strong. It is inside me. I am getting more content. I am happy.
Sobriety has taken away the hurt and deceit of alcoholism. Alcohol broke me.. I am putting myself back together again.
The AA meeting I go to, is not so uplifting for me any more. Many that use to attend it. I don't see. Some have passed away. They had many years sober. Their stories were very valuable to hear. I will still go to this meeting.

I'm slowly getting my mind set to drive again. I feel this is the right year to do it. Felt good the other day to drive Joe home from the Glendora Digestive Disease Institute. He went there for a endoscopy and colonoscopy. I got inside my car and felt great. You don't forget how to drive.

Come by and share your stories. Alcohol free days. Any help you need?
If you want a Challenge set up, let me know.

I am looking at another team to join. And did join one and quit. I noticed there was no leader. And no one said hello or welcome to the team.

Easter is almost here emoticon ...Going out to lunch that day in Pasadena, CA. Hoping the California sunshine makes it a beautiful day!

Take care everyone, have the best week.....sober and healthy!

Hi Team,
I went to an inspiring Womens AA meeting on Sunday night. There were 6 women getting chips for 30, 60, 90 days, 6 months, and 9 months. I love to listen to their stories and remember my own beginnings. That meeting averages 25 women with lots of good, long term sobriety. AA meetings always make me feel lighter, stronger, more free, and content.

Wishing you all a serene, sober week!

Hello LATI Team?
What's new? Any sober days to share about? How about your Life?

I'll share a little. Yesterday morning I went with my DH to the DMV. He was ready to get the REAL ID California License on Friday. I went along for support.
And helped him with the online application there on their computer. Easy Peasy. We arrived there early, 6:00 a.m. We were 5th in line. They opened up at 7:00 a.m. The employees and the DMV clerk was very helpful at the door. And asked each person what they were there for. I was curious about the process. I now know more. I'll be ready for my appointment, I had already made online for May.

Tomorrow I will attend the 6:15 a.m. AA meeting in Covina...12 years sober! Wow how fast the years have gone by. I am grateful for my years sober. Tough times in my early sobriety. But I made it. Stayed Alive! Getting healthy was the tough! Not drinking alcohol, became the easy! Because Sobriety is so Valuable to me! I would have lost so much if I kept drinking.
After the meeting we are going to brunch at Le Grande Orange Cafe in Pasadena. My first time there. My DH checked out the restaurant for me.

Hi Leslie! Sending you best wishes always and everyday. Hugs from me.
Thanks for sharing about cake and the AA women's meeting. Very special for you!

I may share about someone passing away from alcohol. But have not decided when to share.
Only a few things I was told. So emoticon So sad.
Take care LATI Team.
Stay Sober Healthy and Fit! Enjoy your upcoming month of April!

Thank you, thank you, Cyndy.
It has been truly a glorious day. Chris and I spent the day at our 5 and 7 year old grand kids' school. It was Grand Parent's Day and the kids sang songs and recited poems, served us coffee and treats, took us to a book fair, and gave us tours of their classrooms and projects. Then we went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. We took them home and played all afternoon until my son and dil got home from their school. (They both teach at the same school.)
It was such an amazing day to celebrate my sobriety and the honor of being able to be a grandma. Glorious day.
I will take a cake and celebrate and an AA women's meeting on Sunday night.
Sending you all loving, sober, good thoughts for a fabulous week.
Leslie

Thank you so much for sharing Leslie - that was rally helpful especially since I have had a few moments of potential weakness (but I didn't fall---I am still standing tall at 7 days of sobriety!) The problem is the knee jerk reaction that I keep feeling at certain moments or upon certain events. Right now I am trying to keep busy! Happy Tuesday to you all!

Welcome Mara. So nice to meet you. Thank you for trusting us to share your story. We all have different stories, but the similarities always bind us together. I have always been able to relate to the feelings and emotions of fellow alcoholics. On Friday, I will celebrate 17 years of sobriety. It is still a one day at a time endeavor so I know that I still have 4 days to stay sober before I reach that milestone!!!!!

I started getting serious about recovery when I was about 47. I knew for years that I was following the alcoholic path of my parents and siblings, but I was also an isolation drinker and hid it from nearly everyone. I never missed a day of work and like my dad, was a "functional alcoholic". It nearly killed me. Despite attending meetings and getting a sponsor I kept relapsing. When I was 49 I finally put myself in a rehab, with the grateful support of my husband. It was just the ticket for me. It's not for everyone, but it gave me the jump start I needed to return to AA and work the steps with a new enlightenment. I have not stopped learning or changing since. My marriage survived and thrived, my kids love me, my grand kids have never known me drunk, and my friends are a never ending wealth of support. Life has so many challenges and hurdles, but the blessings of doing life sober far outweigh the struggles.

Congratulations on your 5 days. That is so awesome, Mara!
Here's to another day sober for us all!!!

Thank you for the advice Cyndy. I got rid of alcohol at home a long time ago which has helped a bit but I still had my "favorites" (the orange bloom cocktail at our local Italian restaurant, a cosmo at another favorite seafood restaurant (the list goes on and on). I hate the fact that I can walk into a restaurant and, if the waiter recognizes me, he/she will almost right away assume which drink I want because I seem to have a favorite everywhere. Luckily this weight loss journey that I have embarked upon has also meant that I need to cut down on restaurant food so that has been helpful. AA is something that I seriously need to consider. I went to some meetings many years ago but floated away after convincing myself that I didn't really have a problem.

As the adage says--- I will now be taking it one day at a time! 5 days and counting!

That's great! You are trying hard to "quit"! Your longest amount of days you have remained sober? How many? How did you feel? Great things happen to your body when you stop drinking. You start the healing process. Yes we can't have, just one drink of alcohol. Because we want that "buzz". That is the addiction. When you leave that buzz alone. You may think about it. Then crave it. And it all starts over again.

You have to make that promise to yourself, No matter what. You are not going to drink. You have to become stronger that the addiction. It will try to pull you back to it.

If you have any alcohol left where you live. Get rid of it.

I recommend you going to a A.A. meeting. A Open meeting. Look it up online. Somewhere close by the city where you live. Or the city of your choice. Many are ashamed or don't want friends to know they are going to A.A..
Something to experience. And listen to the sharing.
It will help you. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Friendly people they are. You can sit in the back of the room. I did for many years. If you don't care to go. I understand that too. I just wanted to mention this.
If you have already attended a A.A. meeting. I will not suggest it to you again.

Way to go Mara! You downloaded the "I am sober" app. I don't know much about it. If the app is beneficial to you emoticon
emoticon Congrats on Day "4" ! Your Sober Days are Important! They are special. They are all yours!
Take care, Enjoy your weekend.

Hi everyone - I am Mara and I am new to the group. I am a 49 year old working mom and wife.

Alcohol and I have long had a difficult and sour relationship. I am a secret drinker (not a social drinker) and although I have put the days of hard drinking (and hard liquor) nights behind me I tried to convince myself that I could "still enjoy an occasional glass of wine" (ha ha) and...uh...no it is never just one glass.

Like many before me I have quit and started again and quit and started again and quit and started again. So -- here I am at another "quit point" and I am really hoping it will stick because my mind and body so definitely need to be completely free and clear of alcohol.

I downloaded an "I am sober" app on my phone in order to record my sober days. Today I celebrate 4 days of sobriety -- am looking forward to many many more.

Hi Team!

Hi Cyndy,
My grandson is getting better. I caught his bug this time. Ive had a pretty good record of watching the sick grandkids and not getting sick myself. I guess it was my turn. So I have been laying low for a few days and just doing the basics.

My birthday falls on a Friday so Ill celebrate at the Sunday night womens meeting. I usually go to lunch with my sponsor and another sober friend who also celebrates in March. No plans yet, but Im sure well do something fun.

Well, back to my tea and resting. Have a great weekend. Stay warm and dry.

Hi LATI Team,
Hope everyone has a blessed and sober day!

Cyndy, you are so right about sharing our journey, struggles, and triumphs! When we share we don’t feel so isolated and alone. We see ourselves in the story of others!

We didn’t get snow at our house but there is a lot in the upper part of town and Oak Glen (and of course further up the mountain to Big Bear). I’m so grateful for the rain and snow. We needed it so badly! I’m sure you feel the same.

Today I’m in San Diego again babysitting my 10 mo old grandson. He’s sick again so I’ll stay for a few days to help him and hopefully relieve some stress for my son and dil.
Sobriety makes it possible for me to be a loving grandma.
Cyndy, we both celebrate March sober anniversaries! So amazing! You will have 12.....so awesome! I will have 17. One day at a time, for sure!

Hi Leslie, I just read your posting again. Really great words and share!
Your sharing about heart attacks you had at age 37 and 39. Wow! I can not even imagine how you felt. I am glad that you did follow your Doctor's orders. And here to tell us all about it.

Like you. I'd lie about my drinking and how much I really did drink. But would not go to the Doctor at all. Although I knew I needed to stop.

We can't help them if you don't type their words! Nothing to be scared of. We were drinkers too!

Blessings for you, Leslie emoticon
I have been wanting to come here and post.
I decided right now to do it. Finished watching the Oscars. emoticon Two movies I want to go see.
Things and tasks and chores. Cleaning out my closet again. This time I included shoes and hats I no longer wear. Have kept me busy.

I saw on the news about snow out there where you live? Did you get emoticon any snow?
Many days of wearing my black rain boots they are very comfortable to walk in.
I am ready to see the Tax Guy! In March Joe and I have an appointment.
I have to get a Colonscopy and Endoscopy combo this year. Don't care for these. But need to do it.
That's all for now.
I am Grateful for my Sobriety! 12years next month emoticon
Hope Chris is doing well! Sending Blessings!

Thank you Cyndy for the shout out to heart disease and research in women. As you know, I had heart attacks at age 37 & 39. Ive been followed for 29 years now as my heart was damaged permanently after the second one. But, quitting destructive habits (smoking and drinking), caring for my general health and nutrition, exercising, and following doctor orders have kept my heart pumping well.

I just got out for a 4 mile walk (speaking of cardio for my heart) before the 4 days of rain begin. I may have to hit the dreadmill at the gym during the rainy days.

Sobriety makes it possible for me and my doctors to accurately assess my current health. Before getting sober, I lied to my doctors about how much I drank. They probably knew, but it made it impossible for them to treat me effectively and efficiently.

Im so grateful for another sober day!
Blessings everyone!

Hi LATI Team!
Wishing You All A Happy Healthy Sober and Fit emoticon FEBRUARY emoticon

Wear Your RED on FRIDAY.
Why wear red and give? Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Someone you know and love may be affected at any age. Heart disease and stroke claim the lives of 1 in 3 women a third of our mothers, sisters and friends. Its time to change this fact.

I was at an AA meeting last night and someone sharing reminded us that the blood moon was eclipsing. So we made sure we wrapped up the meeting on time to get out and view it. When I got home it was almost in full eclipse. So beautiful to watch!

Sobriety affords me the opportunity to enjoy the moments!

Hey Everyone,
I'm sorry I was absent for a while. Cyndy, I'm glad that you reopened the chat thread. Life has taken some turns lately so my Spark time in general has been limited.
Chris is doing well after recovering from all his radiation for his cancer. The holidays were so busy and took a lot out of him but were a joy.
My oldest son and dil lost the baby that they announced at Christmas time they were expecting. I went to San Diego all last week to help them and baby sit for my 9 month old grandson. They are doing pretty well and going through the grieving process.

I have been trying to catch up on chores, appointments, and friends this week. I've also been getting back to an exercise routine.

Life is good even with all the ups and downs. I'm always grateful for the blessings that I look for every day. Being sober makes handling the unknown possible. I continue to sponsor other women, go to meetings, and read literature that helps me strengthen my sobriety and my spiritual growth.

I hope we will see renewed participation here on this chat thread.

Cyndy, what have you heard about Sparkpeople not continuing? Do you know when?

Hey Cyndy - I'm violating your no post policy. I have been away from the LATI team for quite some time and I really miss the group. Writing to see if we can get everyone back.

Hi LATI TEAM. Today is the last day for the Team Chat. No interest. Fine. Not a big deal. I browsed around the Teams last night. And a lack of Interest all around. Teams inactive. I read posts asking Spark People coaches why?
Spark People one day will be no more. I'll participate until it happens. I came and found Sparkpeople in 2006. At a very low point in my life. Had stopped drinking and was still miserable. Lost weight, but still I felt bad. My health sucked. Drinking Alcohol damaged me.

So every week I'll post a new topic. Comment if you want to. Maybe it will help you. Post your thoughts. Share.

Good evening everyone.
Feeling great. My Christmas tree and decorations are organized and put away. Proud of myself for this. I never get this done right away. Enjoyed seeing the floats at the Rose Parade. I am praying for a uneventful year with my health. Meaning no operations. It has been quite a learning experience. I am grateful for my Sobriety. Have a fine January!

Happy New Year 2019 Ladies!
Although it is not officially the New Year in Southern California! I must go to sleep soon. I want to be fresh and ready to enjoy the Rose Parade!

Thank you so very much Leslie, Aurlie, and Bella. For the well wishes and prayers! I do appreciate your words and sentiments. This I say and express with all my heart!
Prayers are answered. I have been scared more than a few times. Alcoholism put much scare into me. I was given a second chance. If you ever feel uneasy after drinking alcohol. Those of you who are still drinking. It might be a sign. Get a check up and or a physical. Save your own Life!

I AM NOT GOING To DRINK ALCOHOL In 2019!

Weigh in December 31, 2017 - 103 lbs. Weigh in December 31, 2018 - 104.4 lbs. So I gained 1.4 lbs. I will do my best to maintain in 2019.

Wishing To You All The VERY Best A HAPPY New Year LATI TEAM!! I WANT for YOU to LIVE Happy and Healthy and SOBER!

DAY emoticon emoticon You can do it!
