it is supposed to rain today but it is fairly warm here right now. I have a strata meeting to go to tonight which I am not really looking forward to as they are supposed to last 2 hours but they have a tendency to go longer - usually 3 hours. that makes for getting to bed late as I still have to walk the dog after the meeting. Oh well I shouldn't really complain - I did volunteer after all. And it is interesting stuff. I guess I will just have to find a way to keep the meeting on track so that we do not go over our allotted time

Have a great day

sorry to hear about both your grandmother (she lived a long life) and your flooding.

I have not been around having just returned from a trip to Jasper, Alberta. I will be blogging later all about the trip. I am tired and have a ton of stuff to do including catching up on all that I have missed. Look forward to talking with everyone

Have a great day

Doing better. Had a flood in my house a few weeks ago while I was visiting family in UT (death in the family - my Grandmother (85 years young)). My husband and the kids were home but a hose to the toilet in our hall bathroom broke and flooded the carpet of multiple rooms. We thought that my daughters' room had avoided being flooded but when I went in this morning there were books are the far side of the room that had water damage. emoticon I have to call and have the contractor come back out this week so that when we replace the carpet in the rest of the effected rooms that their room gets changed out too. This is a headache but glad that I have support through this.

I am going on vacation tomorrow morning and will return Saturday evening. It is my husbands 60th so we are going to an all inclusive dude ranch. I am not sure if or how much I will be able to post. I know that they have internet but not sure if they have a business area with computers as I will only be taking my phone with me.

So just in case I cannot post much have a great week

Busy day for me as this evening I have to get home, walk the dog and then get to my son's place - which in rush hour traffic could take 1.5 hours. We are going to a movie tonight and I am looking forward to that. Another scorcher today although a little cooler than yesterday.

Have a great day

In the mornings (when I usually am checking in at Spark People), I feel like I can do anything!
It's going to be another sunny, hot June day here where I live (in Champaign, IL). I plan to drink a lot of water as I work outside. I hope to go to the pool later in the day, after work.

Have a Spaked day!

I did not get to bed until midnight and then was up at 5:40. Husband was busy packing to go back to Athabasca this morning - needless to say I am tired today. And it is going to be another scorcher.

Oh well - maybe to bed early tonight.

Have a great day

emoticon I love the days when I am off my routine, yet somehow my SparkPeople Activity Tracker lights up all the way! I've dropped 15 pounds since February, except the past couple of weeks I've gained a pound or two. At the same time, I did not meet my 10 minutes cardio a day, and I had a few meals out. I'll get back on track. How are you doing?

Great attitude, gals!

I was out-of-town last week (no Wifi) at a wonderful SoulCollage® Facilitator Training (for which I was a new co-Trainer). My DGS stayed with me on Spring Break until the day I left for the Training, and we both had bronchitis (I'm still weak from pushing, so haven't been online until today). We enjoyed catching up on "How to Train a Dragon" videos. Very entertaining!

The GOOD news is that I brought much of my food, simple and easy to prepare. I returned a pound lighter -- THAT's a first for me. I did lose my 10 minute cardio streak (mostly due to illness), yet I'm still walking and meeting my moderate steps each day.

MARJORIEWRIGHT, your wisdom and self-compassion will be noted by your kids. You already know that. Thank you for sharing and motivating others!

Had a long weekend in more ways than one. I loved the 4 day weekend but my husband was in an archery competition and did not get home until 1:30 Monday morning and this was supposed to be the week together. Sigh next time I will see him will be Aug 25th.

Oh well - it will give me a chance to get caught up on other stuff

Have a great day

Took family pictures this weekend and have realized that I really need to get serious about adding some healthy activities to my daily life and cut back on the eating out. I've been in denial for a bit about the weight I've been putting on. I'm not down on myself but I realize that I need to make some changes so that I am setting the right example for my 3 children. I want to have more energy to take them and do fun activities. I know I can do this. I just need to get myself in gear.

Angela, thank you for sharing, especially with all you're holding. Please feel free to SparkMail me if you need additional support. We each have those cycles (I'm in one for another couple of weeks and will respond asap -- from April 8-12 I'm at a Training, so harder to reach). Showing up, especially when it might help you, is all that matters. Take care, sweet one.

Thanks for explaining Angela. This has been a busy time for me at work, plus my grandson's spring break started so we're enjoying a visit and minimally working, since I got ahead last weekend. I'm proud of what I'm learning on SparkPeople. I had to guess without tracking food two different days. When I caught up tracking, I came within range of the nutrition categories - even though a Starbucks caramel macchiato made up one meal yesterday lol!

Have a great week everyone.

Thursday was not too bad. I am covering 2 jobs at work this week as the other girl is on vacation. Tomorrow could be a late night - I hope not but I will not know until tomorrow.

My husband and I own a condominium and the strata council is a group of owners elected to oversee the day to day stuff that goes on - things like respond to complaints, authorize expenditures (say our swimming pool needs cleaning or our lawns need mowing), and they work with the property manager to ensure things are done.

Isnt it great spending time with grandchildren? I have 2 and am so glad I can see them - I used to live in another province so seeing them was very difficult but now I am just about 45 minutes away and it makes it much easier to get together.

Have a great evening

Hi Angela,

A few days ago you were hoping for an easier Thursday. How did it go?
emoticon
Those late nights, then the dog walk, can be difficult, especially if you don't have a full moon and inspiring weather. What's a strata council meeting?

I've had my young grandson visiting, so we spent a few days catching up on favorite activities he loves, like riding to breakfast together, the Farmers Market, a family swim. One evening I didn't get to plan dinner, and was subbing for mom at the school's family movie night (Big Hero 6 -- highly recommended). I had a slice of pizza, one Dorito chip, and a small popcorn. I had a good-hearted laugh when I finally caught up my food tracking last night. That day I was pleasantly surprised that each category (calories, fat, protein and fiber) was right on target.

Yesterday was a really busy day. Not time to get on at work and then I had a strata council meeting in the evening which did not end until 10:30. then I had to take the dog out and it was time for bed. I am hoping today will be easier.

It is raining today so won't be walking outside as much as I would like. Oh well

Hope you have a great day

I'm glad you and your dog had a rain-free walk. Aren't those walks nice? Every time I'm "too tired" or don't want to put on outdoor clothing - yet I do - I always love the walk and being in nature. With my SPAT, I get to record exercise, too.

It has been a couple of difficult weeks. I'm taking care of myself, though, which is a newer experience and ongoing lesson. To be okay, while members of my family aren't. I think many of us get stuck in those misperceptions.

I've also learned that my self-care frees my family from worrying about me. A different way to make a difference.

Hmmm. Is it healthy to talk to myself each day LOL? I missed a streak yesterday. I give myself that out, though, because I drove two hours there and back to spend the (first) day with my brother, whose family is going through funeral preps while reeling from the sudden loss of their 24 year old daughter. Death loosen the ties of armor and walls that have built around people over the years. I'm a tall woman, and I had to stand on tippy toe to give each of my brothers a real hug. I brought my food, though, and stayed on track with nutrition.

How are you today?

One day, one of you will stop by to chat. I look forward to that day.

It feels like I'm walking in two parallel universes. This is an interesting (exciting) experience, because it means I'm growing and taking care of me. I've shared the recent death in our family. Instead of numbing off my feeling so powerless, I am staying on track. It's pretty cool. I do know that this is the best way I can help my family, even if I'm hours away. Thoughts are things and attract similar energies. I'm holding the light. Yay! (because I've finally crossed over the threshold SparkGuy said is our greatest hurdle -- yet IS there). Thanks for listening.

Some of you might have seen that I lost my niece earlier this week. With SparkPeople, I just didn't have it in me to sabotage my progress. The old part of me thought about it. The Sparked part of me knew my nutrition and food trackers were waiting, so kept me accountable. I was able to go through the difficult first day in a way that supported my family, because I supported myself first.

I wanted to share Coach Dean's article, in case it helps you. Coach Dean includes common disappointments and failures in "grief" that sabotages.

Spark on friends! How are you doing in meeting your goals?

My healthy living lifestyle wobbled over the past two years, between extended family caregiving and menopause. I'm near my pre-Weight Watchers weight again. I learned that muscles are the key to fitness and safely (confidence, range or motion, and strength) as we age and become prone to falls. Without muscles, we add volume (tight clothes), regardless of weight. The muscles I worked hard in SparkPeople to create softened from disuse. I saw on someone's status update today that they thought it would be nice if we could "SparkFriend" ourselves. Very wise.

emoticon Welcome to SparkPeople's Vision Collage Gallery team! Think of this thread as a relaxed place to visit...Rachel Naomi Remen's "Kitchen Table Wisdom." Share your achievements, your disappointments, your easy days and your rough ones. Share what's going on in your life. Share your growing confidence and your creeping doubts.

Come here to get a virtual hug. I care, and many, many members on this team care, too.
