LECATES--GREAT PRICE ON THE MUMS AND I THINK THE KIDS WILL BENEFIT FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF WATERING THEM!

JOANNE--GLAD DD IS OKAY. HOPE SHE CAN RELAX AND TAKE IT EASY. SURGERY WILL BE HERE BEFORE SHE KNOWS IT.

NANCY--I THINK THE TOMATOES WILL RIPEN INDOORS. THEY MAY NOT BE AS GREAT AS VINE RIPENED, BUT THEY'LL BE BETTER THAN STORE BOUGHT. YOU COULD ALSO MAKE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES. I USED TO GIVE OUR NEIGHBORS SOME GREEN TOMATOES, BECAUSE THEY LOVED THOSE.

ITS BEEN A SUPER LONG WEEK. DS'S TEAM WON AND IT WAS A GOOD GAME. TEMPS WERE IN THE UPPER 60'S AT THE START OF THE GAME AND I WORE A SWEATSHIRT. IT'S WEIRD IN AUGUST. IN FACT, THE STATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION REQUIRES MANDATORY WATER BREAKS FOR THE FIRST FEW GAMES. IT ALWAYS SEEMS SO WEIRD TO HAVE THAT WHEN ITS IN THE 60'S. I WISH THEY WOULD LEAVE IT UP TO THE OFFICIALS AND COMMON SENSE. WE'VE HAD GAMES IN OCTOBER THAT WERE IN THEIR 80'S WITH NO MANDATORY WATER BREAKS AND THE OFFICIALS MAKE SURE THERE ARE ENOUGH TIME OUTS FOR WATER BREAKS. ALSO, ONE OF THE BOYS ON THE TEAM MADE SOME VERY OFFENSIVE AND VERY LOUD COMMENTS DURING THE PEP RALLY THE NIGHT BEFORE. HE'S BEEN KICKED OFF THE TEAM AND SUSPENDED FROM SCHOOL. JUST STUPID.

88 CENT MUMS! WOW! I WOULD BUY A DOZEN AT THAT PRICE! THE ONES AT OUR WALMART YESTERDAY WERE $7.98, BUT I DIDNT BUY ANY AS MANY OF MY FLOWERS AT HOME ARE STILL LOOKING QUITE NICE.

EVELYN, I AM SO GLAD YOU GOT TO THE POOL. I FIND BEING IN THE WATER VERY RELAXING AND SOOTHING.

NANCY, WHAT AN ADVENTURE! YES, I THINK YOUR TOMATOES WILL RIPEN VERY WELL INDOORS. WHEN WEARE EXPECTING THAT FIRST BIG FROST, EVERYONE GOES OUT AND PICKS ALL THEIR TOMATOES. MOST PEOPLE PUT THEM IN A DARK COOL PLACE, ON NEWSPAPER TO RIPEN, BUT I JUST LAY MINE IN A SINGLE LAYER IN THE BASEMENT SOMEWHERE AND THEY RIPEN UP FINE.

MARCHEM - ANOTHER SURE SIGN OF FALL: FOOTBALL GAMES! ENJOY!

SUPPER LAST NIGHT INCLUDED SWISS CHARD, ZUCCHINI, ONION, AND TOMATOES FROM THE GARDEN... BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! I HOPE TO GET A FEW MORE WEEKS OF VEGGIES BEFORE THE FIRST BIG FROST HITS. I THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO SQUEAK OUT ONE OR TWO MORE MEALS OF YELLOW BEANS, AND I HAVE A GREEN STRING BEAN THAT IS JUST NOW COVERED IN BLOSSOMS, SO MAYBE I CAN TRANSITION FROM YELLOW TO GREEN IF THE WEATHER COOPERATES. MY BROTHER IS BRINGING ME SOME ZUCCHINI FROM HIS GARDEN NEXT WEEK, SO I CAN GET SOME IN THE FREEZER, THANK GOODNESS! AND I HAVE SOME LOVELY BIG TOMATOES ON THE PLANTS - AM JUST WAITING FOR THEM TO RIPEN UP!

MY DD IS HOME, HAVING HAD A DRAIN PLACED IN HER KIDNEY YESTERDAY. HER SURGERY IS ON THE 19TH, AND THE SURGEON HAS SAID REST AND STAY HEALTHY TIL THEN! SO NO BACK TO SCHOOL FOR HER ON TUESDAY. SHE WILL HAVE A SUBSTITUTE START OFF THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE YEAR FOR HER, AND SHE ISNT THRILLED ABOUT THAT, BUT NOT MUCH SHE CAN DO ABOUT IT. IMAGINE BEING CALLED IN TO SUB RIGHT FROM DAY ONE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. YIKES!

NANCY, SOUNDS LIKE QUITE THE ADVENTURE. NOT SURE ABOUT THE TOMATOES---BUT WORTH SEEING----LAY THEM OUT ON PAPER BAGS.
EVELYN, GLAD YOU ARE GETTING BACK TO DOING NORMAL THINGS---IT IS GOOD FOR YOU TO GET OUT.
JOANNE, I AM SO READY FOR FALL---I HATE SUMMER BECAUSE OF THE HUMIDITY AND HATE BEING IN AC ALL THE TIME.
MARCHEM, YES, I HAVE 2 SWEATERS I KEEP AT SCHOOL---ONE THIN AND ONE THICK---AND THERE HAS BEEN A FEW TIMES WHERE I PUT BOTH ON---LOL---I COIULD HAVE USED BOTH THE OTHER DAY IN THE CAFETERIA--ONE FOR MY ARMS AND ONE FOR MY KNEES. HOPE IT WASN'T TOO HOT AT THE FOOTBALL GAME.
SAW THAT LOWE'S HAS SMALL MUMS FOR 88 CENTS THIS WEEKEND. I MIGHT GO GET SOME FOR SCHOOL---SOMEONE STUCK FAKE FLOWERS IN THE POTS OUT FRONT AND IT IS SO CHEESY LOOKING, SO I COULD PLANT THEM INSTEAD JUST BECAUSE IT IS ANNOYING ME TO SEE THOSE FAKE FLOWERS. I THINK I WILL MAKE IT A CLASS PROJECT FOR THEM TO GO WATER THOSE POTS EVERY DAY---THE NEW TEACHER WANTS TO HAVE PLANTS IN THE ROOM SO I THINK SHE WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO DO THAT KIND OF THING. PLUS IT WON'T TAKE LONG FOR THEM TO DO A FEW POTS. MY MUMS ON THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE ARE LOOKING NICE AND SHOWING A FEW BLOSSOMS. I SPLIT THEM LAST YEAR AND THEY REALLY HAVE RECOVERED WELL THIS YEAR.
MORNINGS HAVE BEEN NICE BUT WARMS UP A BIT TOO MUCH TO KEEP THE AC OFF ALL DAY---BUT THE CATS HAVE ENJOYED THE FRONT PORCH WHEN I HAVE THE DOOR OPEN.

I HAVE HAD QUITE THE BUSY DAY, AND ACTION GOING ON EVERYWHERE AROUND HERE, WENT OUT WITH MY SISTER AND GIRL FRIEND AND ENDED UP IN NO MANS LAND DUE TO DETOURS AND ROAD WORK.. I TOLD HER TO BUCKLE BACK TO THE MAIN ROAD AND I WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL HER WHERE TO GO OR TURN ETC, GET TO WHERE WE WANTED TO GO AND THE STREET WAS BLOCKED DUE TO FIRE TRUCKS, NEVER SAW WHAT WAS WHAT THERE.. WHEN I GOT HOME MY NEIGHBOUR HAD PICKED UP MY PLANTER WHICH HAD BEEN BLOWN OVER WITH THE WIND AND I HAD GREEN MINI TOMATOES EVERYWHERE, SO I FINALLY SAT ON THE BALCONY, CUT THE PLANT DOWN AFTER TAKING THE REST OF THE TOMATOES OFF AND DITCHED THE PLANT, DO YOU THINK THE GREEN TOMATOES THAT I TOOK OFF WILL RIPEN IN DOORS?

WEATHER IS FALL LIKE HERE AGAIN TODAY AND WE HAD QUITE A BIT OF RAIN OVERNIGHT, SO I WAS TOLD CAUSE I HEARD NOTHING

EVELYN, DID YOU ENJOY THE POOL

LECATES GLAD YOUR HUBBY GOT GOOD NEWS, HOPE IT CONTINUES TO HEAL WELL

JOANNE, THIS YEAR HAS BEEN A BAD YEAR FOR GARDENING EVERYWHERE,, AND HOPING YOUR DAUGHTER DOES BETTER

EVELYNN--ENJOY THE POOL!

JOANNE--SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT DD, BUT HOPE THE PROCEDURE HELPS UNTIL HER SURGERY. I LOVE FALL COOKING, TOO. AS COLD AS IT IS IN MY OFFICE, I'M STARTING TO FEEL LIKE FALL. THAT IS, UNTIL I STEP OUTSIDE AND FEEL HOW HOT IT IS.

LECATES--DON'T FORGET THE SWEATERS! I FORGOT A COUPLE TIMES RECENTLY UNTIL I STARTED LEAVING ONE IN THE OFFICE. I ALSO HAVE A LAB COAT, I'VE WORN WHEN I HAVE TO.

FIRST FOOTBALL GAME IS TONIGHT. DS IS VOLUNTEER COACHING HIS HIGH SCHOOL TEAM AND HE PLAYED WITH THE CURRENT SENIORS. DH AND I'LL GO AND WATCH. SHOULD BE FUN!

I AM MENU PLANNING TODAY FOR SEPTEMBER - I LOVE FALL COOKING! ALL THOSE ROOT VEGGIES, SQUASH, AND FRUITS LIKE PEACHES AND PEARS AND APPLES! I HAVE FINALLY COME TO TERMS WITH THE FACT THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ANY SUMMER WEATHER THIS YEAR, AND I AM READY TO EMBRACE AUTUMN! READY TO REPRISE MY FLANNEL PAJAMAS, FELT SLIPPERS, AND COZY SWEATS!

AND YES, SWEATERS TOO!

THE KIDS ARE BACK TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, AND I START MY TWO MONTHS OF REGULAR GRANDKIDS-SITTING WHILE MY DAUGHTER HAS KIDNEY SURGERY AND RECOVERS FROM THAT. THAT WILL BE A CHALLENGE: GETTING KIDS UP IN THE MORNING, DRESSED, PACKING A LUNCH, AND OFF TO SCHOOL AND THE DAY HOME IN THE MORNINGS. THEN HAVING MY GRANDSON EVERY AFTERNOON!

MY DD ENDED UP IN EMERGENCY YESTERDAY, AND IS HAVING A DRAIN PUT IN HER KIDNEY TODAY, WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY MAKE HER MORE COMFORTABEL UNTIL HER SURGERY IN MID-SEPTEMBER.

MY VERTIGO IS STILL LINGERING A LITTLE BIT, BUT I HOPE TO GET SOME GARDEN CLEAN UP DONE THIS WEEK END IN SPITE OF THAT. FOLOWING THAT, I WANT TO GET THE DEEP FREEZE DEFROSTED AND SORTED - THAT IS NOT AS BIG A JOB AS IT SOUNDS....

ANYWAY - BUSY DAYS AHEAD FOR ALL OF US AS WE CLEAN UP YARDS, RETURN TO SCHOOL, AND HUNKER IN FOR WINTER!

NANCY, THAT SOUNDS LIKE LOVELY WEATHER TO ME---LOL
MARCHEM, I USUALLY HAVE A COUPLE OF SWEATERS AT SCHOOL TO WEAR BUT HAVEN'T BROUGHT THEM BACK---I NEED TO GET THEM OUT THIS WEEKEND AND PUT THEM IN THE CAR SO I DON'T FORGET THEM ON TUESDAY.
DH GOT RELEASED BY THE WOUND CENTER YESTERDAY---YIPPEE! HE JUST NEEDS TO BE REALLY CAREFUL AND IF IT STARTS OOZING AGAIN, WE ARE TO CALL AND THEY WILL SEE HIM AGAIN---BUT IT DOES LOOK SO MUCH BETTER, JUST TENDER LOOKING.
I DID PULL SOME WEEDS YESTERDAY WHEN I TOOK THE TRASH CAN TO THE FRONT FOR PICK UP. MIGHT WORK ON PULLING UP SOME VEGGIE PLANTS TODAY OR THIS WEEKEND. RIGHT NOW IT IS NICE ENOUGH TO HAVE THE FRONT DOOR OPEN BUT WARMING UP LATER ON SO WE WILL HAVE TO CLOSE UP LATER.
ALMOST THE END OF AUGUST----LOOKING FORWARD TO REAL FALL WEATHER.

NANCY, THAT IS DRY! NOTHING WORSE THAN CRUNCHY GRASS. GLAD YOU GOT SOME RAIN TO HELP OUT.
MARCHEM--YOU SAID IT---SO BORING--BUT DID ENJOY SEEING MY CO-WORKERS. BUT IT WAS SO COLD IN THE CAFETERIA FOR THE MEETINGS THAT I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE TO WARM UP. I DID MEET THE NEW TEACHER BUT LETS JUST SAY I WILL KEEP AN OPEN MIND---FIRST IMPRESSIONS WERE NOT GREAT---SHE WAS LATE AND I HEARD THAT SHE HAS BEEN LATE EVERY DAY SO FAR. HERE'S HOPING THAT THE BIOPSY JUST SHOWS THAT IT IS JUST A FLUID SAC.
WEARING MY KNEE BRACE TODAY---THINK THE COLD FROM YESTERDAY REALLY AFFECTED IT. HOPING TO GET GOOD NEWS FROM THE WOUND CENTER FOR DH---FINGERS CROSSED.

STARR--SO HAPPY ABOUT YOUR SWEET POTATOES, TOMATOES, AND CANTELOUPE. I'VE HAD POOR LUCK WITH PUMPKINS, BUT WE ALWAYS GET SOME AT A FARMERS MARKET IN OCTOBER FOR DECORATION.

NANCY--I'D LOVE TO SEND YOU SOME RAIN. I'M REALLY GETTING TIRED OF IT. LUCKILY, NO RAIN YESTERDAY OR TODAY. DD WAS ABLE TO MOW AND DH WEEDEATED.

LECATES--GOOD LUCK ON YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I KNOW HOW BORING THOSE DAYS CAN BE, BUT I ALWAYS ENJOY SEEING MY COLLEAGUES AND GETTING BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS. I'VE BEEN REVERSED WITH YOU ON HARVEST. OUR TOMATOES HAVE BEEN GREAT, BUT OUR SQUASH HAS BEEN SUB-PAR.

I HAVE MY BIOPSY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 13TH.

STARR, I HAD THE CUTEST LITTLE PUMPKIN AND SOME DARN VARMINT GOT INTO IT. NEVER GROWN THE LARGER ONES AND THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT THE SMALL ONES---I JUST WANT THEM FOR DECORATIONS---HAVEN'T SEEN ANY MORE DEVELOP. SOUNDS LIKE A NICE HARVEST FROM YOUR SWEET POTATOES.
JOANNE, I AM WAITING ON MY SWEET POTATOES---FROM THE TIME I PLANTED, I NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER BEFORE I DIG ANY UP---BUT I DID GET MINE STARTED LATE, TOO.
NANCY, I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED BY MY TOMATOES THIS SUMMER, FOR SURE! bUT HAPPY WITH MY SQUASH ACTUALLY PRODUCING THIS YEAR. IT MIGHT BE THE COLOR AND BACKGROUND THAT DOESN'T ALLOW THE PRINT TO BE ADDED.
GOT A LOT DONE YESTERDAY INSIDE---READY TO GO BACK TO WORK THIS MORNING--NEED TO GET OFF AND GET DRESSED. NO KIDS UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY SO THESE DAYS ARE BORING.

HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE.

WELL, I HARVESTED MY SWEET POTATOES TODAY. AND ACTUALLY, I AM HAPPY WITH WHAT I GOT. OUT OF 2 PLANTS, I GOT 5 HUGE ONES. MORE THEN DOUBLE THE SIZE OF ANY SWEET POTATOES THAT I HAVE SEEN IN ANY GROCERY STORE. I GOT 6 MEDIUM/LARGE SIZE AND SEVERAL SMALLER ONES. I WAS WORRIED BECAUSE I SAW A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF A MAN WHO PLANTED 4 PLANTS. WHEN HE DUG THEM UP, ONE OF THEM HAD ONLY A FEW TINY 1.5 INCH POTATOES. THAT WAS IT. THE NEXT ONE HAD ONE MEDIUM SIZE AND THEN A FEW TINY ONES. THE NEXT ONE HAD ONLY TINY ONES, AND THE LAST ONE HAD JUST A COPULE OF SMALL TO MEDIUM ONES. I FELT SORRY FOR HIM. HE SAID THAT HE HAD KEPT THEM UNDERGROUND FOR 5 MONTHS. SO ALL OF THOSE TINY ONES SHOULD HAVE BEEN, AT LEAST, OF SMALL/MEDIUM SIZE. SO KNOWING HOW IT WENT WITH HIM AND 4 PLANTS, I THINK I DID GREAT WITH JUST 2 PLANTS!! emoticon

I THINK I TOLD YOU ALL THAT MY TWO CHERRY TOMATO PLANTS ARE DYING, AND THEY ARE NOT TURNING YELLOW/RED. MY TWO OTHER TOMATO PLANTS ARE FLURISHING. BOTH HAVE SEVERAL TOMAOTES ON THEM. emoticon

AND DID I TELL YOU ALL THE OTHER DAY THAT I FOUND A CANTALOUPE. I WAS BENDING DOWN BESIDE IT, TRYING TO GET MY DOGS TOY UNLODGED FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PLANTER, AND LOOKED OVER TO FIND A REALLY GOOD SIZE CANTALOUPE. HOORAY!!

AS FAR AS THE YELLOW CHERRY TOMATOS NOT TASTING GOOD (CAN'T REMEMBER WHO MADE THAT STATEMENT), I AGREE WITH YOU. EARLIER IN THE SUMMER, THE 1ST FEW YELLOW CHERRY TOMATOES THAT I GOT, WERE GOOD. BUT SINCE THEN, NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN SWEET/TASTEY.

HAY, HAVE ANY OF YOU ALL HAD ANY EXPERIENCE IN PLANTING/GROWING PUMPKINS?

YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL TUESDAY EVENING & WEDNESDAY.

emoticon TO ALL,
STARR

LECATES--ENJOY YOUR LAST DAY OFF! GLAD YOU GOT TO ENJOY OCEAN CITY!

JOANNE--IT'S BEEN A ROUGH YEAR FOR ZUCCHINI FOR US, AS WELL. I HAVE 6 PLANTS AND WE'VE HARVESTED 10 ALL SUMMER. USUALLY, I HAVE TO GIVE THEM AWAY WE HAVE SO MANY. MY TOMATOES ARE DOING WELL, BUT WE'RE IN A WARMER CLIMATE.

NANCY--WHY DIDN'T YOU LIKE YOUR YELLOW CHERRY TOMATO PLANT? WE HAD ONE OR TWO THE LAST COUPLE YEARS AND WE ENJOYED THEM. GOOD LUCK CLEANING THE KITCHEN!

I CALLED MY DR. LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND THEY SAID THE LEFT BREAST IS FINE. I'LL JUST HAVE TO DO A FOLLOW-UP IN 6 MONTHS. THEY WANT TO DO A BIOPSY ON THE RIGHT BREAST, BUT THE WOMEN'S CLINIC WAS CLOSED BY THE TIME THEY TALKED TO ME. SOMEONE IS SUPPOSED TO CALL ME TO SCHEDULE THE BIOPSY. SINCE THEY WEREN'T IN ANY RUSH TO TELL ME ABOUT MY MRI RESULTS OR SCHEDULE THE BIOPSY, I'M ASSUMING THAT THEY AREN'T VERY WORRIED. I'M TRYING NOT TO WORRY, BUT THAT'S HARD.

THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR THAT I TOO LOOK FOR WAYS TO WARM UP THE HOUSE, BUT THEN TOO I ALWAYS MAKE EXTRA AND FREEZE. RIGHT NOW I HAVE A CABBAGE CASSEROLE IN THE OVEN AND A BIG POT OF CABBAGE SOUP ON THE STOVE,
MY MINI TOMATO PLANT IS STILL GOING STRONG BUT THE TOMATOES ARE NOT RIPENING EITHER, I MAY GET ONE A WEEK IF I AM LUCKY, THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR AND THE LAST THAT I TAKE A YELLOW TOMATO CHERRY PLANT. AND LIKE JOANNE SAID THEY ARE NOT AS SWEET AS USUAL
WELL I HAD BETTER GO CLEAN UP THE KITCHEN, NOBODY ELSE WILL DO IT FOR ME emoticon

I AM SO EXCITED TO UNEARTH MY SWEET POTATOES, BUT I AM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN TO DO IT. IT HAS BEEN SUCH A COOL SUMMER HERE, AND EVERYTHING IS ABOUT THREE WEEKS BEHIND WHERE IT SHOULD BE. THE VINES STILL LOOK HEALTHY, SO I THINK I WILL LET THEM GO A BIT LONGER.

MY TOMATO PLANTS TOOK SUCH A BEATING FROM THAT HAILSTORM A FEW WEEKS AGO, BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF TOMATOES ON THE PLANTS. THEY DONT SEEM TO BE RIPENING VERY QUICKLY THOUGH, AND EVEN WHEN THEY DO, THEY JUST ARENT AS SWEET AS THEY SHOULD BE FOR LACK OF HEAT.

I FINALLY GOT 4 SMALL ZUCCHINI OFF MY 10 PLANTS. USUALLY I AM SWAMPED WITH THE DARN THINGS.
THIS YEAR HAS BEEN A GARDENING BUST...
OH WELL, AS STARR POINTED OUT, THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR! HOORAY FOR GARDENERS AND THEIR BELIEF IN THE FUTURE!

NANCY, YOU HAVE MADE ME CRAVE A TUNA CASSEROLE. AT THIS TIME OF YEAR I BEGIN TO LONG FOR WARM AND COMFORTING FALL FOOD.

I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING A TERRIBLE FLARE-UP OF MY VERTIGO THESE PAST 5-6 DAYS. NOT MUCH GETS DONE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I SIMPLY HAD TO PICK BEANS THE OTHER DAY, SO I WENT OUT AND SAT RIGHT DOWN IN THE DIRT TO DO IT. I WONDER IF THE NEIGHBOURS ALL THOUGHT, "JOANNE HAS BEEN SIPPING TOO MUCH WINE..."

LECATES--ENJOY OCEAN CITY. I'M SURE IT WILL BE LOVELY!

STARR--I HOPE THE SWEET POTATOES TURN OUT. I LOVE GARDEN POTATOES OF ANY KIND. WE HAVE SIMILAR WEATHER HERE AND SEPTEMBER CAN BE HOT HERE. IT'S BEEN A CRAZY SUMMER--LOTS OF RAIN AND ONLY A FEW REALLY HOT DAYS.

NANCY--ENJOY THE TUNA CASSEROLE. GOOD IDEA MAKING EXTRA AND FREEZING. I'VE GOT A GROWING 19 YEAR OLD MALE IN THE HOUSE, SO WE DON'T END UP WITH MUCH IN TERMS OF LEFTOVERS.

HEAT COMING BACK TODAY, FOLLOWED BY SEVERE STORMS TONIGHT. BUT, IT WILL BE BACK TO COOLER TEMPS TOMORROW.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

TOMORROW WILL BE SOMETHING ELSE, MAYBE EVEN CABBAGE ROLLS AS THE CABBAGES WERE A DECENT SIZE THIS WEEK

MARCHEM......I WILL TRY ADDING MANURE NEXT YEAR. THANK YOU FOR THE TIP. emoticon emoticon

NANCY....I THINK THAT I WILL DIG UP JUST ONE OF THE SWEET POTATOE PLANTS. THIS MORNING, WHEN I WAS OUT WATERING, I FOUND A PRETTY GOOD SIZE PTOATO OUT FROM UNDER THE SOIL. ALMOST HALF OF IT WAS SHOWING. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN "OUT", AS I DON'T NORMALLY GO AROUND TO THAT SIDE OF THE GARDEN. I HOPE THAT IT IS NOT RUINED BY ALL THE AWFUL TEMPERATURES THAT WE HAVE BEEN HAVING.

THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS OUR TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN IN THE MID TO HIGH 90'S, INSTEAD OF 105 TO 108 WITH THE HUMIDITY MAKING IT FEEL LIKE AS MUCH AS 120 DEGREES. TODAY WERE BACK TO HIGH TEMPERATURES & HUMIDITY. SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE IT IS BETWEEN 110 TO 115 DEGREES!! emoticon emoticon I'LL BE SO GLAD WHEN FALL WETHER GETS HERE. HERE WHERE I LIVE, JUST BECAUSE IT IS OFFICIALLY FALL, DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE WEATHER **FEELS** LIKE FALL. emoticon IT'S USUALLY OCTOBER BEFORE WE SEE COOLER WEATHER.

NANCY, GOOD SLEEPING WEATHER! I WAS IN JEANS ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND NEEDED THEM. SPENT A LOT OF TIME OUT ON THE PORCH. BUT WE HAD TO CLOSE THE DOOR ABOUT 9 BECAUSE SOMEONE PUT TOO MUCH LIGHTER FLUID ON THEIR CHARCOAL AND THAT IS ALL WE COULD SMELL---THE BREEZE WAS DRIVING IT INTO OUR HOUSE. BET THEIR BURGERS OR WHATEVER TASTED OF IT, TOO.
STARR, SOME YEARS YOU GET MORE THAN OTHERS---I WOULD JUST DIG UP ONE OF THOSE SWEET POTATO PLANTS TO SEE HOW IT IS DOING. MINE HAVE ANOTHER MONTH BEFORE I DIG MINE UP AND THE VINES ARE DOING WELL. WERE YOUR STRAWBERRY PLANTS NEW THIS YEAR? IT TAKES ABOUT 2 OR 3 YEARS BEFORE THEY PRODUCE WELL, THEN IT IS TIME TO PLANT NEW---BEST TO HAVE IT SET UP TO DO PART NEW EACH YEAR.
MARCHEM---HOPE YOU ENJOY THAT BREAD.
HAVE GD AGAIN TODAY---SHE WANTS TO GO TO OCEAN CITY---SO DH CAN SIT ON THE BOARDWALK OR IN WATCHING THE RIDES WHILE WE SCURRY AROUND. THRASHER'S FRIES WILL TASTE SO GOOD---AND NOT GOING TO BE HOT AT ALL.

STARR--I AGREE WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS. ITS BEEN A CRAZY YEAR FOR GARDENS. I ALSO WOULD SUGGEST ADDING SOME MANURE TO YOUR SOIL BEFORE PLANTING.

EVELYNN--HUGS AND PRAYERS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

GLAD EVERYONE IS HAVING A COOL DOWN. WE ARE TOO. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70'S. MADE SOME ZUCCHINI BREAD FROM GARDEN ZUCCHINI.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT DAY!

HELLO EVERYONE.

I GOT TO PICK 3 RIPE TOMATOES TODAY. IT'S BEEN WEEKS SINCE I HAVE HAD ANY GET RIPE. ONE OF MY TOMATO PLANTS HAS A BUNCH OF TINY TOMATOES ON IT, BUT THEY HAVE NOT GROWN OR GOTTEN RED AT ALL IN ABOUT A MONTH. AND MOST OF THE LEAVES ARE BROWN/YELLOW.

I'VE HAD NO MORE CUCUMBERS IN WEEKS, AND IT IS ALSO DYING.

GUESS THAT I'M NOT GOING TO GET ANY CANTALOUPE-EXCEPT THAT ONE I PICKED WHEN IT WAS GREEN BECAUSE I THOUGH IT WAS A CUCUMBER.

I GOT ONLY 3 STRAWBERRY'S OFF ONE PLANT, NONE OFF THE OTHER.....BOTH OFD THEM ARE MOSTLY BROWN NOW.

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW IS HARVEST DAY FOR MY SWEET POTATO PLANTS. I AM HOPING THAT THEY HAVE YIELDED MUCH MORE THEN THE REST OF MY PLANTS HAVE.

I KNOW THAT I HAVE SAID THAT IF MY PLANTS DIDN'T DO WELL THIS YEAR, THAT I WOULD NOT BE PLANTING A GARDEN AGAIN. BUT UPON TALKING TO OTHER PEOPLE IN THE STATE THAT I LIVE IN AND FRIENDS FROM OTHER SURROUNDING STATES, I HAVE FOUND THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD POOR YIELD FROM THE GARDENS THIS YEAR. SO, I WILL TRY AGAIN NEXT YEAR, KNOWING THAT IT IS NOT JUST ME.

IT GOT SO COOL LAST EVENING THAT I HAD TO SHUT WINDOWS, OVERNIGHT I WAS LOOKING FOR AN EXTRA BLANKET,I EVEN HAD A LONG FLANNEL NIGHTIE ON.. SUNNY BUT COOL THIS MORNING
I THINK THE WEATHER IS WEIRD EVERYWHERE AND IT CERTAINLY HAS NOT HELPED THE GARDENS, I CUT A LOT OF SUCKERS FROM MY TOMATO PLANT IN ORDER TO TRY TO GET THE TOMATOES TO GET A BIT BIGGER AND RIPEN, HOWEVER I DON'T HAVE MUCH HOPE.. IT MAY BE THELAST WEEK ANYWAY
GOING SHOPPING WITH MY DAUGHTER FOR GROCERIES, NEED TO MAKE UP MORE MEALS, FREEZER RUNNING LOW.. THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR THAT THE VEGGIES ARE CHEAP.. SO WILL CHECK THEN OUT WHEN I GO SHOPPING. I WANTED A CABBAGE LAST WEEK BUT BY THE TIME I TOOK OFF ALL OUTER LEAVES THE CABBAGE ENDED UP THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. KIND OF HARD TO MAKE CABBAGE ROLLS OUT OF THAT emoticon

NANCY, HATE WAITING ON THE PHONE AND THEN GETTNG CUT OFF---HOW AGGREVATING FOR YOU.
MARCHEM, MOST OF THE PLANTS ARE ABOUT READY TO BE PULLED UP---A FEW PEPPERS ARE GROWING AND I HARVESTED MY LAST SQUASH YESTERDAY. SOME DARN VARMINT GOT MY LITTLE PUMPKIN. ONLY THING LEFT ARE THE SWEET POTATOES--THEY NEED TO STAY LIKE THEY ARE FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER MONTH BUT THEY LOOK LIKE HEALTHY PLANTS.
ENJOYED MY FRONT PORCH YESTERDAY AND WORE JEANS ALL DAY LONG---THAT WAS A NICE CHANGE. HAVE THE FRONT DOOR OPEN THIS MORNING, TOO. BUT BY THE TIME I GO BACK TO WORK ON WEDNESDAY IT WILL BE IN THE UPPER 80'S AGAIN.

LECATES--I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON. SORRY ABOUT GETTING SOAKED WITH GROCERIES. I ALSO UNDERSTAND IGNORING THINGS IN THE GARDEN WHEN YOU'RE OVERWHELMED. IF DH WASN'T WATCHING THE GARDEN, I'D JUST LET IT GO (OKAY, I'D KEEP PICKING TOMATOES FOR SALSA, BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT).

NANCY--GLAD IT'S COOLER THERE!

MADE SOME SALSA TODAY. ABOUT TO TAKE DD TO VISIT HER FRIEND IN THE HOSPITAL. HER FRIEND HAS AN INFECTED SWEAT GLAND AND HAS BEEN THERE FOR A COUPLE DAYS. DD WENT YESTERDAY AND IS GOING BACK TODAY.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A RELAXING DAY.

OH EVELYN.....I AM SO, SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR HUSBAND'S PASSING. EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN 5.5 YEARS SINCE MINE PASSED, I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE PAIN DOES GET BETTER. NOW DAYS I DO A LOT OF REMEMBERING ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT WE HAD/DID TOGETHER. AND ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS THAT I LIKED/LOVED ABOUT HIM. ALL THE AWESOME WAYS THAT HE WOULD TREAT ME AND THE WONDERFUL THINGS THAT HE WOULD DO FOR ME. I HAVE LOTS & LOTS OF GOOD AND SPECIAL MEMORIES OF HIM. I HAVE NOT DONE IT MYSELF YET, BUT IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED TO ME TO WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING YOU REMEMBER ABOUT HIM THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR SELF EVELYN. AND LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID, KNOW THAT HE IS NO LONGER IN PAIN & SUFFERING. AND YOU WILL SEE HIM AGAIN ONE DAY--HE'LL BE WAITING FOR YOU. emoticon YOUR IN MY THOUGHTS & PRAYERS EVELYN. emoticon

NANCY, I WISH I KNEW HOW TO EDIT PICTURES LIKE YOU DO. THANKS!
EVELYN, HANG IN THERE---HOPE YOU ARE HAVING LOTS OF SUPPORT FROM THE FAMILY.
MARCHEM, HOPE YOU GET LOTS OF SALSA CANNED FOR THE WINTER. I HAVEN'T EVEN CHECKED TO SEE IF WE HAVE ANY CANTALOPE FORMED---WE GREW ONE VINE. WITH DH BEING LIKE HE IS, I HAVE JUST BEEN IGNORING THE PLANTS---ALREADY HAD TOO MUCH ON MY PLATE TO DEAL WITH STUFF LATELY.
I WENT SHOPPING YESTERDAY AND WHEN I CAME OUT IT WAS RAINING---I GOT QUITE WET LOADING UP MY GROCERIES---AT LEAST I GOT DH TO COME STAND BY THE BACK DOOR SO I COULD HAND THEM TO HIM SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO COME IN AND OUT UNTIL I WAS DONE UNLOADING. BUT MY HAIR FELT LIKE I HAD JUST WASHED IT AGAIN. FELT HORRIBLE LAST NIGHT---NOT SURE IF FROM THE CHILL OR WHAT WE ATE FOR LUNCH--BUT I SPEND MOST OF THE EVENING COVERED UP ON THE COUCH.
WEATHER HAS TURNED AROUND FOR A FEW DAYS---HAVE THE FRONT DOOR OPEN THIS MORNING---BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS SINCE WE WERE ABLE TO DO THAT---KITTIES ARE VERY HAPPY. GRASS WILL BE MOWED TODAY SO I SHOULD GET OUT AND PULL WEEDS---BUT ACCORDING TO HOW I FEEL AS THE DAY PROGRESSES.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT. I'M STARTING TO FEEL BETTER AND LESS WORRIED. PRAYING AND PUTTING IT IN GOD'S HANDS.

LECATES--GLAD DH IS DOING BETTER AND YOU HAD FUN WITH GD. I'D LOVE TO SEND YOU SOME OF OUR RAIN. IT'S BEEN RAINING ALMOST EVERY DAY. WE'RE ALMOST 16 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL FOR YEAR TO DATE. OUR TYPICAL ANNUAL RAINFALL (JAN.1-DEC. 31) IS 47 IN. WE'RE CURRENTLY AT 46.66 IN SO FAR THIS YEAR.

NANCY--THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL TEAM PICTURE!

HARVESTED TOMATOES, YELLOW SQUASH, AND ZUCCHINI. DH HARVESTED 2 CANTELOUPE THAT HAVEN'T BEEN MUNCHED ON BY RABBITS OR HAVEN'T ROTTED WITH ALL THIS RAIN. THERE'S ONE WATERMELON ON THE VINE, BUT ITS STILL SMALL. WE'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO EAT 1 CANTELOUPE THIS YEAR AND NOT SURE HOW THOSE OTHER TWO WILL DO. I'LL PROBABLY MAKE MORE SALSA THIS WEEKEND.

GLAD THE WEEK IS ALMOST OVER. IT'S BEEN A LONG AND STRESSFUL ONE. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

JOANNE, ALL MEATLOAF IS BEST SERVED WITH MASHED POTATOES---LOL
NANCY, ARE YOU SENDING THE NICE WEATHER MY WAY? WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A DECENT WEEKEND BUT STILL NOT COOL ENOUGH FOR ME BUT GLAD FOR THE LOW HUMIDITY AFTER THE FRONT PASSES THRU TODAY. I WILL BE GLAD IT WE GET SOME OF THE RAIN FROM THE FRONT SO I DON'T HAVE TO WATER. BUT THAT IS HIT OR MISS CHANCE.
MARCHEM---GLAD THAT IS DONE ---BUMMER THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT TO HEAR. YOU MAKE SURE YOU CALL MONDAY AFTERNOON IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD FROM ANYONE BY THEN. ALWAYS SEEMS LIKE THEY DON'T CALL YOU IF THE REPORT IS NEGATIVE---LIKE WE DON'T WORRY ABOUT THOSE THINGS. HOPE NEXT WEEK IS MUCH BETTER AT WORK. OUR COLLEGE JUST HAD THE KIDS MOVE BACK IN YESTERDAY SO I WON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THE LOCAL WALMART THIS WEEKEND.
ENJOYED MY TIME WITH GD YESTERDAY---SHE REALLY LIKED THE LLAMA STUFF I BROUGHT HER BACK FROM MY TRIP.. DH'S ANKLE LOOKING BETTER BUT ANOTHER TRIP BACK TO THE WOUND CENTER NEXT WEEK BUT LATE ENOUGH IN THE DAY FOR ME TO RUSH HOME FROM WORK TO TAKE HIM.
HAVE A NICE FRIDAY---AND I AM ENJOYING THE NEW TEAM PICTURES---LOL

THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT! MRI WENT OKAY. IT WASN'T AWFUL AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS REALLY KIND. SHE SAID IT WOULD TAKE AROUND 2 DAYS TO GET THE RESULTS, SO I MAY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY.

ITS BEEN A ROUGH WEEK. NOT ONLY THIS MRI AND THE UNKNOWN HANGING OVER MY HEAD, IT'S THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL AND ITS BEEN CRAZIER THAN USUAL. OUR PHONES ARE OUT, WHICH IS MOSTLY GOOD, BUT WHEN I NEED TO REACH OUT TO SOMEONE ON CAMPUS, I EITHER HAVE TO EMAIL, WALK ACROSS CAMPUS, OR USE MY CELL PHONE. I'VE ALSO HAD SEVERAL WEIRD STUDENT AND FACULTY SITUATIONS COME UP THAT HAVE TO BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE WEEKEND. HOPEFULLY, NEXT WEEK IS LESS CRAZY.

LECATES, MEATLOAF WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE MEAL, EVEN AS A KID I KNEW THAT THURSDAY WAS MEATLOAF DAY AT HOME SO I ALWAYS MADE SURE TO KEEP THAT DAY CLEAR OF ANY SPORTS OR AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT RECIPES OVER THE YEARS AND STILL LOVE IT,,, ENJOY YOUR DAY WITH YOUR GRAND DAUGHTER AND HOPE THINGS GO WELL FOR YOUR HUBBY AT THE WOUND CLINIC

MARCHEM,, YOUR MRI WILL BE FINE. IT ALWAYS WORRIES US AS TO WHAT THEY WILL FIND, ALTHOUGH IT IS HARD, HAVE POSITIVE THOUGHTS emoticon I KNOW IT IS EASY TO SAY WHEN WE ARE NOT IN THE SHOES THAT HAVE TO GO THROUGH IT,

JOANNE WE ARE GETTING A TASTE OF FALL HERE TODAY BUT I WILL NOT COMPLAIN,, I WAS ABLE TO GO FOR A PLESANT WALK THIS MORNING WITH A NICE BREEZE

TAKE CARE EVERYONE

EVELYN, SO SORRY TO HEAR IT BUT I AM GLAD YOU ARE AT PEACE WITH HIS PASSING AND NO MORE SUFFERING FOR HIM. HUGS TO YOU.
NANCY, WE LOVE MEATLOAF---THAT IS WHY WE GO OUT TO DINNER ON TUESDAY NIGHT AT A LOCAL PLACE---THEY HAVE MEATLOAF AS A SPECIAL THAT DAY AND IT IS SO GOOD---AND I DON'T HAVE TO HEAT UP THE HOUSE IN THE SUMMER TO GET IT. BUT I STILL MAKE MY OWN DURING THE REST OF THE YEAR AND STILL GO OUT FOR IT THERE ON TUESDAY---LOL
JOANNE, THE KOREANS MAKE SOMETHING SIMILAR BUT THEY BURY IT IN THE GROUND FOR IT TO AGE. NEVER HAD ANY OF THOSE THINGS IN A PICKLED STATE.
MARCHEM---HOPE THE MRI JUST SHOWS THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. HUGS TO YOU ON THIS.
HAVE MY GD TODAY AND DH HAS AN APPOINTMENT AT THE WOUND CENTER TODAY SO ANOTHER BUSY DAY---I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WHEN THERE IS NOTHING THAT I HAVE TO DO EITHER DAY---I NEED THAT!

I AGREE ABOUT THE DOLLAR STORE. THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS I BUY THERE THAT I WOULDNT THINK OF BUYING ANYWHERE ELSE. DOG BAGS FOR "POOP-PICKUP". PLASTIC CONTAINERS. PLASTIC DISHWARE FOR THE DECK. MUFFIN LINERS, PARCHMENT PAPER. AND INSTEAD OF THOSE PLATIC BOWL CAPS, I BUY A MULTI-PACK OF SHOWER CAPS. I CAN WASH THEM SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN USES, AND THEY WORK OUT TOBE A SUPER CHEAP ALTERNATIVE AND EASIER TO USE THAN PLASTIC WRAP.

PICKLED CARROTS ARE A VERY COMMON THING OUT HERE. THE ONES I MAKE ARE A BIT SWEET, BUT LOTS OF PEOPLE MAKE THEM JUST USING THE DILL PICKLE BRINE. ME, I LIKE THE SALTY AND THE SWEET COMBINATION.

THE HUTTERITES HERE PICKLE PEAS TOO, RIGHT IN THEIR PODS. I HAVENT TRIED MAKING THEM MYSLEF, BUT HAVE BOUGHT THEM FROM THE HUTTERITES AT THE FARMERS MARKET AND THEY ARE SUPER GOOD.

I LIKE PICKLED BEANS TOO, BUT SO MANY OF THE ONES YOU CAN BUY ARE TOO SPICY FOR ME. TO BE HONEST, I LIKE PICKLED ANYTHING, BUT MY DH NOT SO MUCH, SO IF I MAKE IT, I KNOW I WILL HAVE TO EAT MOST OF IT MYSELF.

MY GRANDMOTHER USED TO MAKE SAUERKRAUT IN A BIG STONE CROCK UNDER THE KITCHEN COUNTER. NOT SEALED, OR PROCESSED, JUST SHREDDED CABBAGE IN BRINE, WITH A PLATE WEIGHTED ON TOP TO KEEP ALL THE CABBAGE COVERED IN THE BRINE. NOW THAT WAS DELICIOUS!

JOANNE, NEVER TRIED PICKLED CARROTS MYSELF. I AM READY TO START OVER WITH EVERYTHING NOW BUT STILL TOO HOT---BUT MY MUMS ARE LOOKING NICE THAT I SPLIT LAST YEAR AND A FEW BLOOMS HAVE OPENED.
NANCY, YEAH TO A GOOD SCORE ON CARDS THERE---I AGREE ---WHY PAY THOSE HIGH PRICES FOR SOMETHING THROWN AWAY. ACTUALLY, I USE FREE ONES THAT ARE SENT TO MY MOM FROM ALL THOSE PLACES WANTING MONEY. FIGURE IT THEY SEND THEM, THEN THEY ARE MINE AND WE DO NOT DONATE. I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED ONE CALENDAR AND ONE PLANNER FOR NEXT YEAR FROM 2 DIFFERENT GROUPS.
MARCHEM---GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE TO THE LATER ONE. WE DID COOL DOWN HERE IN THE AFTERNOON YESTERDAY BECAUSE WE HAD A BIG STORM COME THRU---BOY, WAS I GLAD TO SEE THE RAIN BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO OUT AND WATER ANYTHING YESTERDAY.
WE DID GET OUT FOR DINNER LAST NIGHT---DH WAS GLAD TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT. I TOLD HIM I WOULD TAKE HIM TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY BUT HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO WORK THERE AT ALL---HE IS TO GO AND SIT AND THAT IS ALL HE CAN DO. HE STILL CANNOT WALK THAT FAR AND FORGET BEING ABLE TO DRIVE YET. I MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE OFF ONE OF MY FIRST DAYS BACK TO WORK TO TAKE HIM TO A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT ON THURSDAY.
ONE MORE TIME OF FEEDING THE DOGS---MY SON IS SUPPOSED TO BE HOME TODAY TO DO THE EVENING FEEDING---THEY WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE THEM.

STARR--HOPE YOUR GRANDCHILD HAS A GOOD FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. HAPPY B-DAY TO YOUR CHILD.

JOANNE--PICKLED CARROTS SOUND GOOD. I PICKLED GREEN BEANS A FEW YEARS AGO, BUT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKED THEM.

LECATES--GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO HELP YOUR FRIEND WITH THE WHEELCHAIR. GOOD EXERCISE, BUT TAKE IT EASY TODAY. HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE DINNER OUT WITH DH. YOU BOTH DESERVE IT.

NANCY--I TOTALLY AGREE ABOUT CARDS. I TRY TO GET MY CARDS AT DOLLAR STORE OR THE PARTY STORE OUTLET. DH BUYS THEM AT THE BIG BOX STORE FOR CONVENIENCE AND THEN HAS STICKER SHOCK WHEN HE GETS HOME.

ONCE SCHOOL STARTS FOR ME, I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THE GARDEN. I'LL PROBABLY CAN A LITTLE MORE SALSA BECAUSE THE TOMATOES ARE STILL GOING STRONG, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS DYING OFF. SOMETHING (PROBABLY SQUIRRELS OR RABBITS) HAVE BEEN NIBBLING ON MY CANTELOUPE. BETWEEN THE RAIN, FUNGUS, AND NOW CRITTERS, I DOUBT WE'LL GET ANY CANTELOUPE THIS YEAR.

BACK TO SUPER HOT WEATHER. HEAT INDEX CLOSE TO 110 TODAY. I WALKED TO MY 9 A.M. APPOINTMENT ACROSS CAMPUS AND WHEN I WALKED BACK, I DECIDED TO DRIVE TO MY 11:30. TOO HOT. STAY COOL AND HYDRATED.

PICKLED CARROTS?? SOUND GOOD BUT HOW DO YOU DO THEM.. LIKE OTHERS I AGREE THAT THE GARDENING SEASON IS WINDING DOWN, ALTHOUGH MY MINI ROSE IS STILL FULL OF BUDS ABOUT TO OPEN AND THE YELLOW CHERRY TOMATO PLANT IS FULL OF TOMATOES, I WONDER IF THEY WILL ALL RIPEN OR NOT.
LECATES GLAD YOUR HUBBY SEEMS TO BE DOING BETTER AND WANTS OUT.
I AM GOING TO TRY TO WALK OVER TO THE DOLLAR STORE ,, I NEED A FEW THINGS AND REFUSE TO PAY HIGHER PRICES,, EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE SAY "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" A CARD IS A CARD WHETHER YOU PAY $1.25 OR $ 6.00 IT LANDS UP IN THE SAME PLACE,

YUP, THE GARDEN IS WINDING DOWN, EVEN THO SOME OF THE VEGGIES HAVE REALLY JUST GOT STARTED PRODUCING - SO LATE THIS YEAR. THE FLOWERS ARE DEFINITELY PUTTING THEMSELVES TO SLEEP... I HAVE BEGUN THE FALL CLEANUP IN SOME SPOTS, AND HAVE ALSO BEEN MOVING THE ODD PERENNIAL HERE AND THERE.
I REALLY NEED TO GET BUSY AND PICKLE SOME CARROTS. THAT IS ALL I AM DOING PICKLE-WISE THIS YEAR. LAST YEAR WAS MY FIRST TIME PICKLE MAKING, AND THE CARROTS WERE A BIG HIT!

An 8 inch worm......YUCK! emoticon I think that I would have just left it there and let the ants devour it. Man, I get creeped out over a worm that is only an inch long!!!

Well, my cucumber plant is not producing at all now. There is one cuc left on it, but it is not growing. I was hoping that it would grow some more if I kept watering it, but no luck. And one of my tomato plants has quit producing also. It has a dozen or so tiny tomatoes on it, but they have not grown any at all in more then 2 weeks.

I decided to trim all of my rose bushes. And I trimmed the WAY back. They were all over the place with a lot of dead leaves & branches. So now they look "neat". Now new roses will not be crowded out with leaves & dead branches.

Today was my granddaughters 1st day of 5th grade. And, today is my youngest child's 30th birthday.

NANCY--THE MEALS SOUND WONDERFUL!

LECATES--GLAD YOU COULD HELP YOUR FRIEND.

JOANNE--THE SOUP LOOKS AND SOUNDS DELICIOUS!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR ME. IT'S BEEN SUPER BUSY, BUT I'VE GOTTEN A LOT DONE. OUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL BROKE LAST WEEK. DH HAS BEEN CALLING AROUND AND FINALLY GOT AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW. DH IS USED TO DUMPING ALMOST EVERYTHING DOWN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL, SO HE'S HAD TO CHANGE HIS HABITS. HE'LL BE RELIEVED WHEN IT'S FIXED.

I MADE A BIG POT OF SOUP YESTERDAY FOR LUNCH - THE RECIPE WAS CALLED SERBIAN GREEN BEAN SOUP. ALTHOUGH MY BEANS WERE YELLOW, IT WAS DELICIOUS: BEANS, POTATOES, CARROTS, ONIONS AND PARSLEY ALL FROM THE GARDEN. I ALSO BAKED MUFFINS USING RASPBERRIES I PICKED FROM THE PATCH. DD#1 AND FAMILY DROPPED BY, ALL THE MUFFINS ARE GONE!

LECATES--OUR CUSTODIANS ARE GREAT AND I TREAT THEM WELL AND THANK THEM. OUR MAINTENANCE GUYS DO A GREAT JOB AS WELL AND I KNOW THERE ARE TONS OF NEEDS, ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR. THE REAL PROBLEM IS A LACK OF COMMUNICATION. YOU PUT IN A WORK REQUEST AND YOU NEVER HEAR IF ITS EVEN BEEN RECEIVED, LET ALONE WHEN AND IF THE WORK WILL BE DONE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SON'S DOGS.

MADE ZUCCHINI BREAD FROM GARDEN ZUCCHINI AND BANANA MUFFINS FROM THE BANANAS DH KEEPS BUYING, BUT DOESN'T EAT. THE KIDS AND I HAVE TOLD HIM THAT WE AREN'T BIG BANANA FANS AND THAT HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO EATS THEM. HE BUYS THEM AND THEY START TO GO BAD, SO I MADE BANANA MUFFINS WHILE I HAD TIME. THIS WEEK WILL BE BUSY. FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES, MEETINGS, AND MY MRI ON THURSDAY. KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS THAT THEY FIND NOTHING.

EVELYN, SO SORRY ALL OF YOU ARE HAVING TO GO THRU THIS TURMOIL. HOPE HE PASSES IN PEACE AND THAT YOU HAVE ACCEPTED HIS WISHES. SO HARD TO WATCH THEM SUFFER. GLAD YOU ARE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING NORMAL LIKE HOUSEWORK---I KNOW IT JUST FEELS GOOD TO DO SOMETHING NORMAL AT TIMES LIKE THIS.
JOANNE, BOY, THAT IS CHILLY---I WAS AMUSED AT THE CUCUMBER STORY---LOL---PLEASE SEND IT MY WAY---ACTUALLY, I THINK PART OF IT MIGHT BE ARRIVING ON FRIDAY ALTHOUGH NOT THAT COOL--THEY SAY 82 IS COOL NOW ON THE WEATHER REPORT---LOL
NANCY, SURE HOPE THAT GETS FIXED SOONER THAN THEY SAID.
MARCHEM, HE WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY IF HE DID HIS JOB CORRECTLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. BUT I WILL SAY THAT OUR CUSTODIANS ARE TREATED SO BADLY IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND HAVE TO PUT UP WITH LAZY BOSSES WHO DON'T PITCH IN TO HELP WHEN PEOPLE ARE OUT. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO TREAT THEM WELL, THEN IF I ASK FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE, IT GETS DONE QUICKLY FOR ME. GLAD IT WARMED UP TO MORE NORMAL TEMPS INSIDE FOR YOU.
I THOUGHT I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF MY SON'S DOGS NEXT WEEKEND BUT IT'S THIS WEEKEND---GOOD THING HE TEXTED ME TO TELL ME WHERE THE DIRECTIONS WERE. LOL---THEY WERE HAPPY TO SEE ME LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING.
WE DID GET A BIT OF RAIN YESTERDAY SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO WATER ANYTHING. BUT TODAY IS VERY HUMID AND GOING TO BE HOT SO I WILL HAVE TO WATER THE POTS AT LEAST. I THINK THE TOMATOES ARE DONE NOW---JUST A FEW MORE ON THE VINES.

EVELYN--HUGS AND PRAYERS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I HOPE YOUR HUSBAND IS NOT IN PAIN. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

LECATES--TEMPERATURES AT WORK ARE MORE NORMAL, BUT I ACTUALLY WAS HOT WHEN I WENT IN TODAY FOR FRESHMEN CONVOCATION. I DON'T KEEP A HEATER BECAUSE I'M A BIT OF A STICKLER FOR FOLLOWING THE RULES. I JUST DRESS IN LAYERS AND GO FOR A WALK (SOMETIMES OUTSIDE) IF I GET TOO COLD.

NANCY--GLAD THE LANDLORD IS MOVING ON THE BALCONY. SOUNDS LIKE IT WILL BE DONE SOONER THAN YOU EXPECTED. I'M THE SAME WAY AS YOU. I TREAT PEOPLE KINDLY AND SWEETLY UNTIL THEY TRY TO WALK OVER ME AND THEN, I LET THEM HAVE IT. THE HEAD MAINTENANCE GUY AT WORK IS AFRAID OF ME, MAINLY BECAUSE I CALL HIM OUT WHEN HE NEEDS TO BE CALLED OUT AND MAKE SURE TO CC HIS BOSS ON THOSE EMAILS.

JOANNE--THE BEST MEALS COME DIRECTLY FROM THE GARDEN. I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT IT JUST BEING TOO COLD IN A LOT OF BUILDINGS. IT IS REALLY ANNOYING TO WALK OUT THE BUILDING AND HAVE MY GLASSES FOG UP.

FINALLY GOT TO MAKE SALSA AFTER FRESHMAN CONVOCATION TODAY. DD AND I DID A LITTLE SHOPPING AFTER THAT--USING KOHL'S CASH AND GETTING SOME SCHOOL SUPPLIES. TRYING TO PUT MY FEET UP AND RELAX NOW.

ZACK BRITHDAY WAS ON THE 15. HE TURN 7. HE THE BABY OF THE FAMILY. ALL THE KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL. I DO A LITTLE HOUSE WORK HERE AND THERE.

JOANNE, OUR NIGHTS HAVE BEEN COOL TOO BUT NOT AS COOL AS YOU.
YES THE LANDLORD AND HER HUSBAND SHOWED UP, WHEN HE CAME TO THE BACK DOOR I TOLD HIM TO TAKE OFF HIS SHOES AND HE JUST LOOKED AT ME.. I SAID YOU CAME ACROSS THE GALLERY SO YOU MUST HAVE STEPPED IN WATER (IT RAINED THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THERE WAS STILL A PUDDLE) HE ANSWERED THAT HE HAD STEPPED OVER IT, I SAID WELL IF YOU WET MY FLOOR YOU CAN WASH IT, HE LAUGHED, HE SAID THE GALLERY WOULD BE DONE SOON

IN COMES THE WIFE (MY LAMDLORD) I ASKED IF SHE HAD A DATE FOR THE GALLERY
ANSWER ,, IT WAS TO BE DONE IN SEPTEMBER BUT SHE HAD SPOKEN TO THE CONTRACTOR AND IT WILL BE DONE AROUND THE END OF AUGUST, SHE ALSO WANTS IT DONE BEFORE SHE GOES ON HOLIDAYS, SHE SAID SHE WANTS TO BE AROUND DURING THE RENOVATION, SHE IS LEAVING FOR A MONTH ON
SEPTEMBER 7TH. I TOLD HER THAT THE CORNER WAS VERY SOFT TOO AND SHE ANSWERED THAT CHANGING THE BALCONY WOULD NOT BE A LUXERY AND SHE KNEW IT WAS BAD ,,SO THAT WAS THAT NOW WE WAIT AND SEE

GOT LAUNDRY ON THE GO AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN FOR A HOT AND HUMID WEEKEND, HOWEVER SO FAR IT IS COOL AND I AM WEARING PANTS

I HATE USING BUG SPRAY TOO! ONE GOOD SIDE EFFECT OF HAVING SUCH A COOL SUMMER HAS BEEN THE ABSENCE OF MOSQUITOES. I HAVE NEVER KNOWN THERE TO BE SO FEW OF THEM. AND OUR WINTER WAS SO COLD LAST YEAR THAT THEY SAY A LOT OF THE PINE BEETLES WERE WIPED OUT WHICH IS A GOOD THING FOR OUR FORESTS. SILVER LININGS!
SPEAKING OF COOL, OUR SUMMER TEMPS (SUCH AS THEY WERE) ARE ON THE WAY OUT. LAST NIGHT IT WENT DOWN TO 6°CELCIUS WHICH IS 43°FARENHEIT. YUP, I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE FURNACE BACK ON ALREADY. I CANT THINK WHEN I HAVE EVER HAD TO TURN ON THE FURNACE IN AUGUST BEFORE IN MY LIFE!!
I PICTURE MY LITTLE CUCUMBERS WEARING HATS AND MITTENS AND SHIVERING THRU THE NIGHT! POOR THINGS!
