Thanks to all of you for your good suggestions. I have been doing the walkabout challenge and some stretches. I hope the strength training part of the challenge will help me avoid engeries this spring while getting my yard going. emoticon

Yoga is very good to keep you flexible all over including the back, and strengthens your back muscles. I have seen on SP an article on stretching for gardeners, also check the exercise library for exercises for your back.

I have a fairly large collection of DVDs, including the ones offered by Spark. They are all good. This year my exercise space is not available so I have started attending free classes at the Senior Center (OsteloX - It's a gentle weight class) twice a week and I can feel it making a difference! Good Luck!

In past years I have hurt my back gardening after the winter rest. My daily walking just didn't keep those muscles in shape, so I would like to hear what exercises other people practice to prepare their bodies for gardening. emoticon
