I got my two pots of mums dumped for the green waste pick-up tomorrow. There's no point in planting them in the garden - they never come back for me. I had hoped to do some cutting back but after the 2 pots were done the hornets drove me in doors. It only takes them minutes to find me when I go outside this time of year - drives me nuts!

ZANNA, YES, MAKES NO SENSE TO WORRY ABOUT THOSE BEDS TIL NEXT SPRING SINCE YOU WILL BE MOVING IN AROUND THE HOLIDAY SEASON. WE MOVED IN NOVEMBER OURSELVES, BUT MY DH KNEW HOW MUCH I DREADED LOSING MY FLOWER BEDS, SO THE FIRST THING HE DID IN THE SPRING WAS SET MY TRIANGLE BED UP FOR ME---WE MOVED IT WITH US AND THEN WE LAID THE BRICKS ALONG THE WALKWAY BY THE HOUSE TO SET UP A BED THERE---AGAIN, THE BRICKS CAME FROM MY OLD PLACE---THEN MY SON, WITH THE HELP OF SOME COLLEGE STUDENTS, MOVED THE BRICKS FOR THE CIRCLE BED AND WE GOT THAT SET UP. AND WE STARTED WORKING ALONG THE FENCE AND DH ALSO PUT TOGETHER A RAISED BED BY THE BACK WALKWAY---AGAIN WITH STUFF FROM OUR OLD PLACE---SO i HAD LOTS TO START WITH THAT FIRST SPRING---LOL---BUT IT WAS FUN TO PLAN WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO IN THE SPRING WITH THE MATERIAL WE HAD BROUGHT FROM OUR OLD HOME.
WE ARE STILL HAVING FAIRLY WARM TEMPS---ENOUGH THAT THE FRONT DOOR IS OPEN MOST OF THE DAY AND INTO THE EVENING---IT IS SO NICE TO HAVE A SCREENED IN FRONT PORCH THAT ALLOWS US TO DO THAT---BUT i AM HOPING THE NIGHTS WILL DROP A BIT MORE AS WE HAVE TO HAVE THE FANS ON TO SLEEP---BUT AT LEAST NO AC.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING FALL COLOR IN NEW ENGLAND IN 2 WEEKS---NEVER BEEN UP THERE BEFORE SO THIS IS PERFECT TIMING FOR ME.
HAD A ROUGH COUPLE OF DAYS WITH MY STUDENT---HE WENT CAMPING LAST WEEKEND WITH HIS PARENTS AND I THINK HE IS STILL TIRED AND GRUMPY FROM THAT---HONESTLY, HE HAS ACTED MORE LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD THAN A 16 YEAR OLD---AND THIS IS UNUSUAL---USUALLY MORE ON A 10 TO 12 YEAR OLD ON REGULAR DAYS.
I DID BUY WINTER PANSIES YESTERDAY AND TODAY I CAME HOME AND PULLED UP THE VINCA NEXT TO THE WALKWAY UP FRONT AND PUT A LOT OF THEM IN THE GROUND THERE---VINCA WAS GETTING PRETTY LEGGY AND I WAS READY FOR A CHANGE---STILL HAVE PLENTY OF OTHER VINCA GROWING IN OTHER PLACES SO MY YARD IS STILL COLORFUL.

Like Nancy we are a lot farther north than you Lecates - many of the trees are bright orange or yellow or red and many others are still green. Some are almost bare and others haven't even started to shed yet. We have a Columular Maple that never turns colour and it's leaves don't fall until after the snow comes. We went away for the weekend and the drive to and from Belleville, only an hour or so away, was spectacular in the range of colours.

My heart failure alarm has been going off again since Fri so my husband has been working alone in cleaning up beds ready for the winter. Some of the Balsam annuals look a little worse for wear after a few frosts but there are still bees coming to the flowers left on them so we've left them for now. The trick is to leave them as long as we can but cut them down before frost turns them to mush.

Lottie, I hope they can find something to give you some comfort from the arthritic pain. My nurse practitioner sent me to an educational program sponsored by our Ministry of Health on dealing with pain with chronic conditions because unfortunately with a bad heart, I can't take arthritic meds. It helps but oh what I wouldn't give for a pill - mind over matter only works so far, lol.

Thanks. I think I may end up planting daffodils in the yard... not sure where, though. Still... pretty! I probably won't get anything done at all on the yard though until next year, though, as we won't even have all or furniture moved in until half way through November and at that point even if it weren't too late in the year we're hitting holidays etc.

Yes, at least we have 2 beds, though one may actually end up going away, because it doesn't really work for us. But the front bed is lovely; we'll be replacing the holly bushes with something else (the holly is pretty but really prickly for right next to the walk to the front door) but keeping everything else. I am not sure what we'll plant instead of Holly though; another thing we won't have to deal with until next spring at the earliest, though.

We definitely have fall color here; it's really pretty.

Lottie, I'm glad that you are seeing a specialist. My mom has a particularly aggressive arthritis, but she's been seeing a specialist since the beginning and that helped a lot. Without treatment, the doctors said she probably wouldn't be able to walk in 10 years, and now some 20 years later she's still able to walk around etc. Specialists can have a lot more tricks in their bag than a GP has.

LECATES, OUR LEAVES HAVE TURNED AND EVEN STARTED FALLING,, BUT THEN TOO I AM REALLY NORTH OF YOU

GUESS I HAVE TO VACUUM TO PICK UP THE VIRTUAL PUSSY BUNNIES THIS MORNING THEN HAVE A FEW ODDS AND ENDS TO CATCH UP ON,

ZANNA, ONE DAY AND ONE THING AT A TIME, YOU WILL GET IT ALL GONE IN DUE TIME, LIKE LECATES SAID, PLANT SOME BULBS, EVEN IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE MAY BE SOME ALREADY, YOU WILL HAVE MORE COLOR IN THE SPRING,
HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL emoticon

NOTHING MAJOR PLANNED FOR TODAY EXCEPT GOING TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. HAVE A LOT THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE THOUGH. MAY GET SOME DONE TODAY.

ZANNA, YOU CAN PLANT DAFFODIL BULBS ANYWHERE BECAUSE AFTER THEY DIE BACK, YOU CAN JUST RUN THEM OVER WITH LAWNMOWER AFTER THE LEAVES HAVE STARTED TO DIE----USUALLY AFTER THE FIRST OR 2ND TIME YOU CUT GRASS. AND IT WON'T HURT TO PUT IN A FEW BULBS EVEN IF THERE ARE SOME THERE JUST TO MAKE SURE. AT LEAST YOU HAVE 2 BEDS TO WORK WITH NEXT SPRING AND CAN MAYBE START A 3RD ONE. WILL BE FUN TO PLAN THIS WINTER. AND SURE YOU WILL NEED THE WINTER TO GET THE HOUSE LOOKING THE WAY YOU WANT. DO YOU HAVE LOTS OF PROJECTS INSIDE LIKE PAINTING, ETC?
ROSES, GLAD THE RECIPE TURNED OUT GREAT.
WENT TO MY SON'S HOUSE AND PLANTED THOSE 18 PLANTS---DH WENT TO HELP CUT THE LANDSCAPE FABRIC FOR ME---THAT REALLY HELPED---BUT I WAS HOT AFTER I FINISHED---I WAS GLAD FOR THE AC IN THE TRUCK ON THE WAY HOME.
BACK TO WORK TODAY AND HAVE SAP AND WATER AEROBICS SO IT WILL BE A BUSY DAY.
FOR ANY LIVING UP NORTH, HAVE YOUR LEAVES STARTED TO TURN?---HEADING TO MASSACHUSETTS IN 2 WEEKS AND HOPE TO SEE SOME LOVELY COLORS ON THE WAY.

JUST GOT THROUGH WITH EATING SUPPER -LEMON-HERB ROASTED CHICKEN. IT WAS GREAT AND NO ADDED SALT. I WASN'T SURE HOW HUBBY (THE SALTAHOLIC) WOULD LIKE IT BUT HE SAID THAT HE WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING.. IT WAS A RECIPE THAT I HAD NEVER TRIED BEFORE AND DEFINITELY WILL TRY AGAIN SOMETIME. IT WAS THE JUICIEST BIRD I HAVE EVER SEEN. HUBBY STARTS A NEW SHIFT TOMORROW - 4P-2A. Thanks! I'm super excited, if a bit daunted by all the work it's going to take to turn it into the garden/yard I really want! I thought about putting bulbs in, but we have no idea what bulbs (if any) are already in and the spaces to put them in are very limited since there are only 2 beds, both pretty small. Thanks for the tip about the red pepper!

HOW EXCITING TO HAVE YOUR OWN PLACE---CONGRATS ON ALL THOSE THINGS--YES, YOU DO NEED TO OBSERVE WHAT AREAS GET WHAT SUNLIGHT---MIGHT WANT TO DO RAISED BEDS FOR THE VEGGIES, MUCH EASIER TO CARE FOR, TOO. AND I FIND RAISED FLOWER BEDS AROUND THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE MUCH EASIER AND LESS WEEDING NEEDED THAN JUST DIGGING UP AN AREA AND PLANTING. SOMETHING YOU COULD DO THIS FALL IS PLANT SOME TULIP AND DAFFODIL BULBS SO THAT YOU HAVE POPS OF COLOR IN THE SPRING---SPRINKLE THE TULIP BULBS WITH RED PEPPER AND PUTTING SOME IN THE HOLE, TOO, KEEP VARMINTS FROM EATING THEM. i HAVE LOTS OF FLOWER BEDS, BUT I HAVE ADDED THEM AS THE YEARS GO---THINK THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR I DID NOT ADD ONE---LOL YOU CAN HAVE LOTS OF FUN THIS WINTER LOOKING AT DIFFERENT SITES TO GET IDEAS.
DID NOT GET LAWN MOWED---GOING TO WAIT TIL COOLER AND CAN WEAR PANTS AS THE MOSQUITOES GOT REALLY BAD FROM THE RAIN AND THEM MAKING A LAST DITCH EFFORT TO STAY ALIVE WITH COLD WEATHER COMING. WE ARE GOING TO TRY TO GET MY SON'S NEW PLANTS IN THE GROUND TODAY--HOPING THE LANDSCAPE FABRIC COOPERATES WITH US.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!

I have been away for a long time--things have been really crazy for me. In May, I graduated (finally!) with my PhD and the same day I walked my husband got a great job offer. We had already signed a lease on a bigger apartment, so we ended up moving, and then staying with friends closer to his job while we found a small apartment with a short term lease, and now have bought a house (we've closed but won't have possession for a few more weeks as they are renting it from us to give them time to close on their new house).

*breathe*

But the upside of this is that while my poor balcony garden (around 30 containers--it's a big balcony) was pretty neglected this year, next year I get to start actually planning an actual in the ground garden. The house has very minimal landscaping--which is a bit of a disappointment but it means that the house is pretty much a blank slate for me to do what I want with it. It's kind of daunting, though--I've never done anything quite like this before, as I've always lived in apartments as an adult. I don't know how much we'll manage in terms of actual garden beds next year--depends on time and a bunch of other things (we also have to figure out lighting etc.) but I'm hoping at least for a small vegetable garden. I'll probably mostly plant annuals in containers until we figure things out, though.

EVELYN, HOPE THAT BOY IS BETTER SOON.
NANCY, GLAD THE WEATHER IS NICE AND JUST COOL ENOUGH. THE RAIN WE HAD ON THURSDAY HAS BROUGHT MOSQUITOES TO LIFE AND BOY, ARE THEY NASTY---THEY KNOW COLD IS COMING JUST LIKE THE FLIES DO. I AM HAVING TO WALK IN THE MALL TODAY TO AVOID THEM.
WALKING TODAY, THEN A BRUNCH WITH LADIES AT CHURCH, THEN I NEED TO MOW THE LAWN---AND WILL HAVE TO USE BUG SPRAY!

I LIKE GOING TO WORKSHOPS LIKE THIS. I FEEL LIKE I AM NOT WASTING MY TIME OR MONEY (THIS ONE WAS NOT FREE). I GOT 5 HOURS OF EDUCATION CREDITS TO GO ON MY MASTER GARDENER'S TIME.

ROSES, IT WAS NOT YOUR LAST MEAL EVER---LOL---BUT GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT
JAYNE, TAKE A TOOTHPICK AND POKE INTO IT---ESP. IF BAKERY ITEM---NOTHING SHOULD CLING TO IT---BUT IF THERE IS A FILLING THAT WON'T WORK, SO THEN USE THE FINGER TEST, IF YOU PUSH IN A BIT, IT SHOULD SPRING BACK, IF NOT, GIVE IT A FEW MINUTES MORE. GOOD FOR YOU IN ATTACKING THAT BACK YARD.
NANCY, HERE'S AN IDEA FOR THOSE BOTTOM DEEP SHELVES---PUT A LARGE COOKIE SHEET ON EACH SHELF, PUT YOUR THINGS ON THAT---BUT NOTHING REALLY SUPER HEAVY---THEN YOU CAN PULL THE SHEET PART WAY OUT TO GET TO THE THINGS IN THE BACK OF THE TRAY. OR YOU COULD GET THOSE PLASTIC DRAWERS ---SOME ARE BIG, AND PUT THINGS IN THEM ON THAT SHELF, THEN YOU JUST PULL OUT THE DRAWER. I ACTUALLY DO THAT WITH A LOT OF MY BAKING STUFF LIKE CHOCOLATE CHIPS, ETC. THAT WAY THEY ARE ALL TOGETHER AND I HAVE THEM IN THE BOTTOM CABINET THAT IS DEEP---SO MUCH EASIER TO PULL THAT DRAWER OUT TO RETRIEVE ITEMS IN THERE.
RAIN IN FORECAST HERE---WE DO NEED IT AS FLOWERS ARE LOOKING DROOPY---WILL GIVE THEM A LAST HURRAH BEFORE I PULL THEM UP TO PUT OUT WINTER PANSIES SOON.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!

IT WAS A CLOUDY BUT COOL DAY HERE AS WELL. MIGHT WEAR A LIGHT SWEATSHIRT TOMORROW. MADE A GREAT SUPPER TONIGHT - SALISBURY STEAK AND POTATOES. I FIGURE I HAD BETTER EAT LIKE I WANT TO TODAY AS I GO TO THE DIETITIAN IN THE MORNING. HAVE FELT PRETTY GOOD TODAY THOUGH. IT IS NOW RAINING BUT THAT'S OKAY AS I HAVE NOTHING PLANNED TO DO TONIGHT.

WELL IT'S STILL SITTING AT 59F HERE AND WE JUST HAD A LITTLE SPRINKLING OF A SHOWER. CRAZY WEATHER! DECIDED TO WAIT TILL THE DGDS GET HERE ON THE BUS AND THEN PICKED UP BY THEIR DADDY TO TAKE MY WALK TO GIVE THE TEMP A LITTLE BETTER CHANCE TO MAYBE CLEAR 60F???? I KNOW, I'M NEVER HAPPY AM I?
I SIMPLY GOT TIRED OF THE BACK LOOKING LIKE A NEAR FOREST, SO I TOOK ABOUT 40 MINUTES WITH THE STRING TRIMMER AND CLEARED THE BACK BANK. (IT'S TOO STEEP TO MOW WITH THE MOWER) THEN GOT THE MOWER AND GOT BUSY ON THE REST. MY GOODNESS THE BRANCHES AND STICKS HIDING IN THE WEEDS! TALK ABOUT YOUR SELF-CLEANING TREES!! TO REALLY BE SELF CLEANING, THEY ALSO NEED TO PICK THEMSELVES UP AND PILE UP AT THE ROAD FOR THE CITY TO PICK UP! LOL! IF I ONLY COULD HAVE HAD ANOTHER 30 MINUTES OF DAYLIGHT, I COULD HAVE FINISHED THE MOWING PORTION OF THE JOB! I'M THINKING MAYBE TOMORROW I WILL GET BACK DOWN THERE TO DO THAT THEN IT'S THE STRING TRIMMER'S TURN AGAIN! WE HAVE A DRAINAGE CREEK RUNNING THROUGH THERE AND I TRIMMED OUT A BUNCH A FEW WEEKS AGO (WHICH IS TRYING TO GROW BACK, OF COURSE) AND THEN TONS MORE. I COULDN'T MOW OVER A LOT OF IT, THOUGH, BECAUSE IT'S TOO CLOSE THE EDGE OF THE CREEK ( AND IT'S REALLY SOFT THERE, TOO). WISH I WERE MADE OUT OF MONEY SO I COULD HIRE SOME BIG STRONG GUYS WITH ALL THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT (I MEAN LAWN SERVICE/LANDSCAPING EQUIPMENT) TO DO THE WORK I CANNOT. DIDN'T REALIZE HOW THAT SOUNDED TILL I HAD IT IN PRINT! LOL!!
I BAKED CHEF MEG'S BANANA CHOCOLATE MUFFINS THIS MORNING. YUM! THEY DIDN'T GET QUITE DONE IN THE MIDDLE, THOUGH, SO I'M THROWING THEM BACK IN FOR MAYBE 8 MINUTES MORE. WHAT I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH IS.....OK A RECIPE WILL SAY SO MANY MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN. IF YOU ARE USING WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, IT'S ALREADY BROWN, SO HOW DO YOU TELL IF YOUR FINISHED PRODUCT IS GOLDEN ( OR ANY OTHER SHADE) OF BROWN? IT WENT IN THAT WAY! TOLD YOU I AM INEPT IN THE KITCHEN!
GOING TO MAKE BROCCOLI ALFREDO ( CHEF MEG AGAIN) FOR SUPPER. THE TURKEY CHILI TOTALLY GOT GONE LAST NIGHT! DH COMPLAINED NOT ENOUGH SALT, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, WE PUT OUR HEAD TOGETHER HOW WE COULD MAKE IT TASTIER, SO NEXT TIME WE WILL ADD GREEN PEPPERS, MAYBE A SPOON FULL OF PASTE AND NOT PUREE QUITE SO MANY BEANS. I'LL ALSO MAKE THE CARROTS LESS NOTICEABLE BY CUTTING THE SHREDS INTO BITS. DS DIDN'T MIND THE TASTE, BUT HE HAS ISSUES WITH TEXTURE SOMETIMES.
OK, NOW THAT I'VE WRITTEN A BIG NOVEL, I'LL LET YOU GET ON WITH YOUR LIVES (AND ME WITH MINE) LOL!!! HAVE A SUPER AND SAFE DAY!

COOL HERE AGAIN THIS MORNING BUT FINE WITH ME,
I AM GOING TO CHANGE THINGS AROUND IN FOOD PANTRY TODAY, MY PANTRY IS GREAT BUT VERY DEEP, I HAVE TO GET ON MY HANDS AND KNEES TO GET ANYTHING FROM THE BACK OF THE 2 BOTTOM SHELVES,,THEN I WORK LIKE THE DEVIL TO GET UP. SO I AM GOING TO USE THE LINEN CLOSET WHICH IS JUST OFF THE KITCHEN AND THE LINEN WILL GO IN ANOTHER CUPBOARD, FOR ALL THE LINEN THAT THERE IS IT WOULD PROBABLY FIT IN A DRAWER.. TOWELS ARE ALL IN THE BATHROOM ANYWAY
HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL emoticon

It was a nice clear day but quite cool. I got a lot of my gardening supplies cleaned up and organized in the shed for next season and took in the house the pots and trays I'll need in the spring for my seedlings and such. I'm still hopeful we'll get the warm weather for the rest of the week that's predicted so I can get some more tomatoes and cucumbers. We'll be going away for the weekend so I won't be here to cover them up in case of frost.

Weekend away OR frost patrol, hmmmm - weekend away! Nothing too exciting - a lot of sitting around while my DH meets with his fellow military retirees and have a rubber chicken type dinner. The brief memorial service for their fallen comrades they will hold on Sun. morning makes it all worthwhile though. Every year it is sad to see fewer and fewer WWII Vets there. I wish more would join their Association and pay such respects.

WENT TO THE FAIRGROUND AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS PICK UP MY STUFF. THEY ALREADY HAD IT TORN DOWN. I WOULD SAY THAT I WAS LUCKY ON THAT ONE. FEEL SOME BETTER NOW THAT I HAVE EATEN SOMETHING FOR A SNACK. I KNOW THAT I WILL CRASH DIRECTLY BUT AM GOING TO PUT THIS LITTLE BIT OF ENERGY TO USE. BROUGHT MY STUFF HOME AND WATERED IT. THEY (THE MUMS) REALLY NEEDED IT.

JAYNE, WAY TO GO ON THAT WALK---AND NICE TO HAVE SOMEONE TO WALK WITH YOU, EVEN IF SHE DOES OWN CHICKENS---LOL HOPE YOU GET THAT BACK YARD DONE SOON BEFORE IT TURNS INTO A JUNGLE---HEEHEE---MY NEIGHBOR'S BACK YARD IS LIKE THAT AND IT MAKES ME MAD.
EVELYN, GOOD FOR YOU----GOOD IDEA TO TRY ON YOUR WINTER CLOTHES---BUT YOU MIGHT AS WELL PICK UP ALL SORTS OF DIFFERENT SIZES WHEN YOU SEE THEM AS YOU WILL NEED THEM. SOUNDS LIKE YOU WILL BE MAKING SOME DONATIONS SOON TO THAT THRIFT STORE, TOO.
NANCY, YEP, IT WAS DUMB ON MY PART---AND I AM STILL SORE, BUT NOT AS MUCH TODAY AS YESTERDAY MORNING. YOU KNOW, WE ARE TOO OLD FOR SUCH FOOLISHNESS. emoticon
WINDS FROM THE NORTH WILL COOL US DOWN NICELY TODAY---YIPPEE---SURE HOPE THAT WAS THE LAST HURRAH YESTERDAY---HAD TO TURN THE AC ON IN MY BEDROOM SO I COULD SLEEP LAST NIGHT. I HAVE OFF FRIDAY---PROFESSIONAL DAY FOR THE TEACHERS---SO I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO A SHORTER WORK WEEK.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!

UP TO 88 HERE ( OR AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT MY LITTLE THERMOSTAT TELLS ME. DUH! THAT'S MORE CHARLOTTE WEATHER! WE WERE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE AROUND 85. I GUESS IT'S SUMMER'S LAST HURRAH! TOMORROW HIGH ONLY TO BE AROUND 74 OR 75! IT'S BEEN JUST BEAUTIFUL.....BLUE SKIES WITH LITTLE WHITE POOFY CLOUDS AND A VERY NICE BREEZE! HOPING TEMP DROPS LIKE A ROCK HERE AROUND 6:30 OR SO I CAN GET THE FRONT YARD MOWED AGAIN!! I'LL TELL YOU THE GRASS JUST GROWING LIKE IT HAS TOO!!! HAVEN'T GOTTEN THE BACK YARD DONE IN OVER A MONTH AND NOW I'M AFRAID OF IT. DH DECIDED TO TAKE TODAY AND TOMORROW AND CATCH UP ON OUT OF TOWN SERVICE CALLS, SO WE'RE ON OUR OWN AND I'M AFRAID TO TRY TO DO ANY WORK IN THE BACK WHEN HE'S AWAY JUST IN CASE SOMETHING BAD MIGHT HAPPEN! WHEN IT GET'S SO HIGH, I WORRY ABOUT SNAKES, ETC. PLUS HIGH WEEDS DO NOT DRY VERY THOROUGHLY AND COULD BE DANGEROUS ON THE BANK. OH WELL. IT'LL GET DONE EVENTUALLY!! I NEED TO GO TO SOME THRIFT STORE AND SEE IF I CAN FIND SOME WARMISH, FULL COVERAGE CLOTHES TO WEAR THIS WINTER AND REALLY GET IN THERE AFTER MOST HAVE DIED OFF OR GONE DORMANT AND REMOVE AS MUCH AS UNWANTED TREES AND SUCH AS I POSSIBLY CAN. MAYBE WON'T FIND ANYTHING THIS EARLY, BUT I GUESS I SHOULD START LOOKING AROUND! ALSO POISON IVY, OAK, ETC. ABOUND IN THE BACK YARD AS WELL, SO NEED TO STAY PROTECTED ANY TIME OF YEAR!
TOOK MY BIG WALK TODAY FOR WELL OVER 8000 STEPS (AROUND 3 MILES OR THEREABOUTS) MY NEIGHBOR NEXT DOOR (WITH THE CHICKENS) WALKED WITH ME! WE HAD A RIGHT NICE TIME!! WE WALKED UP TO STARBUCK'S, WENT IN AND GOT A DRINK ( I HAD A VERY LOW CAL ICED COFFEE), RESTED A BIT AND TALKED AND TALKED, THEN MADE THE RETURN TRIP, RETRACING OUR STEPS!! WOOHOO!! WE MET ANOTHER FRIEND ON THE WAY HOME AND STOOD AND TALKED, BUT I KEPT WALKING IN PLACE WHILE WE TALKED, SO I REALLY GOT A FEW EXTRA STEPS!!! HER DOG JUST LOOKED AT ME LIKE..."WHY YOU NO STAND STILL????" LOL!!!
WELL, MY DOGGIE SAYS IT'S TIME FOR HIS SUPPER, SO I BETTER TO ATTEND TO HIM BEFORE HE STARTS TO BARK!! STAY SAFE, Y'ALL!!

NICE HERE TODAY. i AM HAVING THE PLASTER TORE OUT OF MY LIVING ROOM AND PUTTING UP SHEETROCK IN ITS PLACE. IT WILL BE A WHOLE LOT BETTER ON THE GAS AND ELECTRIC BILLS. AM JUST TOO TIRED ALL OF THE TIME AND LITTLE TO NO ENERGY TO GET ANYTHING DONE. GO TO THE DIETITIAN ON WEDNESDAY SO MAYBE THEY CAN POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I THINK I AM LOSING INCHES AS WELL AS WEIGHT NOW. AM TRYING TO EAT LIKE I AM SUPPOSED TO BUT SOMETIMES I WANT NOTHING AT ALL.

DRAB AND DREARY HERE TODAY. BUT IT WAS BEAUTIFUL YESTERDAY TILL ABOUT 7 WHEN IT STARTED RAINING. OF COURSE IT HAD TO RAIN. WE HAVE THE WHOLE BACK YARD DUG UP BEHIND GARAGE! AND I HAD ORDERED 6 CORDS OF WOOD THAT ARRIVED YESTERDAY TOO. SO BF WAS ON DIGGER AND I WAS CUTTING, SPLITTING AND STACKING WOOD. ONE CORD DONE. 5 TO GO. I MUST BE GETTING OLD BECAUSE MY CHAINSAW FEELS A LOT HEAVIER THAN IT USED TOO.

I WAS TOO TIRED TO EAT DINNER LAST NIGHT AND SCALE SAID THIS MORNING I GAINED .4 LBS. TOO STIFF AND SORE TODAY TO GET ON TREADMILL.

EVE I DONT WORRY ABOUT CLOTHES GETTING TOO BIG. I WORRY ABOUT WEATHER OR NOT I CAN SQUEEZE INTO THEM.

I CAN READ BOTH BUT IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME EITHER WAY BUT FOR THE GOOD OF THE FEW, WE DO POST HERE IN CAPS. THAT IS WHY IT IS IN MY BYLINE ON HERE.
I DID GET DH OUTSIDE TO TRIM THE FRONT BUSHES---THEY DO LOOK SO MUCH BETTER---BUT WHILE OUT THERE, i DID A DUMB THING AND WENT TUMBLING DOWN TO THE GROUND---VERY SORE FROM THAT FALL BUT THANKFULLY DID NOT BREAK ANYTHING---OUR GROUND IS VERY SANDY SO KIND OF CUSHIONED THE FALL. BUT BECAUSE OF THAT FALL, I DID NOT FEEL LIKE PUTTING UP ANY OF THE OUTSIDE THINGS IN THE YARD---HOPING I WILL GET A FEW THINGS DONE TODAY.
ROSES, HOW NICE TO GET YOUR LIVING ROOM REMODELED. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE DONE?
EVELYN, YOU MIGHT FIND THAT YOU CAN GO TO THE THRIFT STORES TO PICK UP DIFFERENT SIZES OF PANTS AS YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT---REMEMBER TO REALLY WORK ON EXERCISE TO HELP WITH THE SKIN ELASTICITY SO AS NOT TO HAVE TOO FLABBY SKIN AS YOU LOSE WEIGHT FASTER---ONE OF THE DRAWBACKS OF THAT SURGERY. HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST NOW?
TODAY IS THE LAST FULL DAY OF SUMMER---GOING TO HAVE DH COOKOUT TODAY.

GOING TO BE A NICE DAY HERE TODAY. WE CLEANED OUT OUR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM YESTERDAY AND GIVING EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE DVD PLAYER AND THE SATELLITE BOX TO DADDY'S HELPER. HE IS COMING TO GET IT AFTER HE HELPS MY BROTHER MAKE FEED FOR THE HOGS. DADDY TOLD THE MAN THAT IS GOING TO BE REMODELING OUR LIVING ROOM THAT HE COULD START IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS (AFTER HE FINISHES THE JOB HE IS DOING NOW). AM GOING TO PACK THE COLLECTIBLES THIS AFTERNOON. EVELYN, OH, MY, THAT WAS HOT AND YOU HAD SNOW JUST A WHILE BACK, RIGHT? THAT IS JUST NUTS.
NO FROST HERE BUT TEMPS IN THE 50'S IN THE MORNINGS BUT I AM ENJOYING THAT---THINK TOMORROW WILL BE IN LOW 80'S WHICH DOES NOT THRILL ME---BUT IT IS THE LAST WEEKEND OF SUMMER--YIPPEE! I AM GOING TO START PUTTING OUT FALL DECOR TODAY.
NANCY, A WINTER COAT? OH, MY!
WE HAVE SOLD ABOUT 70% OF OUR MUMS AT SCHOOL---PANSIES NOT MOVING YET BUT THINK MOST PEOPLE ARE WAITING ANOTHER WEEK OR 2---WE GOT THE GREEN HOUSE READY FOR THE POINSETTIAS THIS WEEK AND THE COLD FRAME WAS COVERED IN PLASTIC YESTERDAY. THE POINSETTIAS COME IN NEXT WEEK AND WE WILL REPOT THEM----GOING TO EXPERIMENT WITH SOME OF THEM TO SEE IF WE CAN MAKE BLUE AND PURPLE ONES---KIDS ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT TRYING THAT.
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT SATURDAY!

75F WITH PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND A FEW SHOWERS. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IF IT'S GOING TO RAIN TILL IT IS! HAVEN'T WALKED AS YET AND MAY NOT GET TO AND THAT'S MADDENING. DGDS WILL BE HERE IN ABOUT 35 MINUTES, SO REALLY NO TIME BEFORE THEY GET HERE AT THIS POINT. TRYING TO DO AT LEAST SOME MARCHING IN PLACE. THOUGHT WE'D BE IN LOWER HUMIDITY BY NOW, BUT THE METEOROLOGISTS SEEM TO KEEP MOVING THAT SCENARIO BACK A FEW MORE DAYS, THEN A FEW MORE DAYS....ETC. HEHE I KNOW, I'M NEVER HAPPY! WHAT A BUGGER I CAN BE, HUH?!
WELL, I'D BETTER GET TO DOING SOMETHING AROUND HERE. STAY SAFE, Y'ALL!

Sorry I haven't been responding to messages. I think I am getting caught up today reading a lot of posts. It was only 17 today and quite cool when in the shade. It was like an oven in the sun if you were stuck in the car however. I bbq'd about 15 meals of pork loin and steak with all visible signs of fat removed. It makes mealtime real easy to have pre-prepared meats plus I save the kitchen from smelling like a used frying pan every day. I just make sure that the meat I cook is slightly undercooked so that when I reheat it it can finish cooking without drying out. While I was bbq'g today, I cut the roots poking through the bottom of my Elephant Ears plant readying it to come in for the winter and I took apart the fairy garden I built in the spring. It didn't stand up too well outdoors even under the gazebo. But, I'll get to have fun with some of the material I'm keeping if I decide to make another one. Just doing those few things and I was winded. I've been having trouble catching my breath the last 5 or 6 days so I've only managed to get some of the winter preparations done. I got the houseplants and some of the patio pot plants watered well with soapy water to kill insects before my DH carried them indoors for me. Tonight we are to get frost (not the first time) so I went out and covered my tomato plant (3 unripe tomatoes on it) and my cucumber plant (several little cucs on it).

I'm still having laser treatments on my knee. Tues I had an ultrasound down and will learn next week the results. If it shows no injury to the knee, I'll know the torn ligament is all healed. I've got my fingers crossed. Very little pain now in the knee.

With all this inactivity for months, the depression, and not logging my nutrition, I gained back another 10 lbs. I'm having trouble catching my breath trying to do anything. I've gotten back to my full 90 mins in the pool and 30 of that water jogging but last couple of times it was touch and go and I was wiped by the time I got home. In the last 3 days, I've lost 4.2 lbs so I'm hoping I'm on the right track finally. I'm logging my nutrition again. I had kept up the exercise tracking.

Tomorrow is my DH's final day on the job. I am taking him out to dinner and my DD, her husband and son are joining us. If I order smart, I can eat within my guidelines at this particular restaurant. Sat. we have the annual Ball Party to go to for the team my DH is on. We each bring something to BBQ and each couple brings a pot luck dish. I'll have to be really careful there as I won't know what's in everything. I'm also bringing a Congrats on Your Retirement slab cake as a surprise for my DH. Another reason to be careful on the first course. I'll only have to watch for too many cals, too much fat, too many carbs, and too much sodium - a breeze, ya right! Next weekend we have an annual military association reunion and my DH wants to go a day early which means about 2 and half days of restaurant foods. That's gonna be a tough one! I want to lose this gained weight and get back to losing again beyond the 30 lbs. I've put back on this past year, and be able to breath easier again. I sound like a steam engine whenever I try to exert any energy - just bending over to put on a slipper, drying off in the shower, washing my hair, well you get the picture.

COMPUTER WANTED TO UPDATE AND I TRIED TO DENY IT. JUST WASTED AND HR AND A 1/2 TO NOT GET UPDATE AND NOW IT IS REALLY SLOW.

GOT MY NEW SCALE YESTERDAY. HOW DEPRESSING. CALORIES FOR YESTERDAY WERE UNDER 1100 AND I DID THE TREADMILL. GAINED ANOTHER 1.8 POUNDS. I HAVE BEEN GETTING MY WATER AND EXERCISING AND EATING RIGHT. EVEN MEASURING MY FOOD TO BE SURE MY TRACKER IS RIGHT. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 3 WEEKS. I HAVE 5 POUNDS MORE THAN WHEN I STARTED. DEPRESSING.

NO RECIPE THAT IS WRITTEN FOR THE DRESSING, JUST ADD STUFF TIL IT SEEMS RIGHT---LOL---BUT ISN'T THAT THE BEST KIND OF RECIPE. LUCKILY I COOKED AN EXTRA DRESSING BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE MUCH LEFT OF THE BIG ONE I MADE FOR THE DINNER---I THINK THIS IS MY MOM'S FAV MEAL AND FOR MY SISTER AND I, TOO, BECAUSE WE DO MOST OF THE THINGS THE WAY MY GRANDMOTHER DID THEM
WILSON, YOU ARE RIGHT, THAT WILL BE MESSY ENOUGH WITHOUT THE RAIN--GOOD LUCK!
NANCY, I WAS IN TANK TOP YESTERDAY WHILE COOKING---BUT IT ACTUALLY COOLED DOWN AFTER THE RAIN FRONT CAME THRU, BUT WITH THE COOKING, IT FELT GOOD TO HAVE THAT ON BUT I DID NOT NEED TO TURN ON THE AC SO YOU KNOW IT WAS NOT THAT HOT AND WE HAD A DELIGHTFUL BREEZE.
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD DAY!

WENT TO THE KIDNEY DOCTOR THIS MORNING AND ALL DID NOT GO WELL. HE DIDN'T LIKE MY BLOOD WORK, I NOW HAVE TO GO SEE A DIETICIAN AT THE HOSPITAL, AND I HAVE TO GO BACK IN 2 MONTHS. MAYBE THINGS WILL BE BETTER. OTHER THAN THAT HAVE HAD AN UNEVENTFUL DAY. DID TRY A NEW RECIPE TONIGHT AND IT TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD. JUST HAVE TO MAKE A FEW TWEAKS TO IT. NOTHING PLANNED FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.

LECATES - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TO YOUR MOM!! SOUNDS LIKE QUITE A YUMMY MEAL YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR HER. I ASSUME THIS IS A FAVORITE MEAL OF HERS?
WELL, OUR TEMPS TO RISE TO 80 OR SO TODAY AND THE SUN IS BRIGHTLY SHINING AND THE SKY IS A GORGEOUS CAROLINA BLUE! JUST A FEW LITTLE PUFFY, WHITE CLOUDS FLOATING AROUND UP THERE! JUST TOO WARM TO GO WALKING FOR ME, THOUGH. ESP. WITH THE HUMIDITY SO HIGH, YET. I THINK I COULD WALK EASILY IF NOT FOR THE HUMIDITY. OH WELL, TOMORROW IS TO DROP BACK INTO THE 70S AND BY THE WEEKEND, THE HUMIDITY LEVEL SHOULD DROP, TOO. ALL IS WELL, I SUPPOSE.
Y'ALL STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!

I HAVE NEVER HAD A RECIPE FOR STUFFING. I JUST DUMP AND WE NEVER HAVE LEFTOVER STUFFING.

WE HAVE SUNSHINE HERE TODAY TOO. emoticon WISH IT WAS GOING TO LAST THROUGH THE NEXT WEEK BUT THEY ARE SAYING HEAVY RAIN. JUST MY LUCK. HAVING THE SEPTIC TANK PUMPED FRIDAY SO WE CAN DIG IT UP AND REPLACE IT. THE LAST THING I NEED IS RAIN. MY RENTERS ARE LEAVING ON VACATION FOR TEN DAYS SO THAT IS MY TIMELINE TO GET IT DONE! THE RAIN COULD REALLY MAKE A MESSY JOB WORSE!!!!!

I THINK I NEED A NEW SCALE. NO MATTER HOW GOOD I AM WITH EATING I AM NOT LOSING. LOOKING BACK AT MY TRACKER FOR LAST TWO WEEKS THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE I DID WRONG IS GOING LOW ON CARBS. AND I HAVENT BEEN ON TREADMILL FOR A FEW DAYS. STAYING IN CALORIE RANGE BUT ALWAYS ON THE LOW END. LOTS OF WATER. I KNOW IT WILL HAVE TO START GOING DOWN SOONER OR LATER BUT I H A V E TO GO DRESS SHOPPING AND WOULD RATHER SEE A LOSS NOW!
