Took grandson William to playgroup this morning. Daughter has persuaded the doctor to give her 3 weeks off work to get over the worst of the morning sickness, and we will be doing her shopping for her tomorrow.

We live in the country. For a walk we have the choice of going up the road, or down the road. All the rest is private property. There are no proper verges, so walking along the road is somewhat hazardous. We don't have a dog, but that's a problem too. This area is heavily into rearing sheep, and farmers have the right to shoot a dog worrying sheep I believe.

Think not. Do.

"Self-reverence, self-knowledge, self-control. These three alone lead to sovereign power."

Good morning, Yesterday I took Mutt out to a field that has been mowed for hay and has a path though it where they just redid the gas lines. It might be hard to believe with me living out in the country, but there are very seldom places I can let Mutt off leash to run. I walked the gas line. Slow going since the ground was anything but smooth but good exercise and a new place to walk. Mutt ran and ran then sleep most of the day. Mutt likes to run and when he runs he just runs and runs with a one track mind. I have to make sure where he runs is safe for him and he isn't going to freak any horses or cows. A 60 pound dog running full tilt though the pasture upsets animals.

We are under a burn ban again. I knew I was filling the fish pond a lot, but had't thought it had reached that stage.

Good morning, I'm so tired today, luckily I'm off for 2 days. Last night I had a guy can in to return outside Christmas lights. I asked him if there was anything wrong with them. He said no he just got too many. he then told me that he hung the lights the week before Thanksgiving instead of after Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving weekend is for football not Christmas lights.

Good morning, Well my hours finally hit came to a head last night. I was scheduled to leave at 8 and needed to leave at 7:30 to take my claims to the back and take my last break. A manager came and said that when I left I needed to close the place down because there was no one to relieve me. Customer Service should close at 10:30. A zone manager told me that customer service needed 2 people and 2 people had hired 2 people each and the computer had tried to spread the hours between everyone, and instead of telling my this they made up excuses. That shorted our hours. Then one person became a no call no show and no one told the computer so the computer still had her on the schedule, now there were gaps in coverage. Why can't we get a person to do the schedule. Don't answer that, forgot who, or what I was talking about.

Good morning, I saw in the news that Wal-Mart is suing the union. Wal-mart says the union is making it dangers to shop. I couldn't see why, but I guess that means we get to watch all those anti union films again.

DD says she is all for Tony eating veggies, she encourages it, but Tony would live on tomatoes if she would let him. Ok I can see limiting him a good idea, but I don't see any problem with him eating tomatoes on Thanksgiving, yes it was Thanksgiving since both DD and I have to work Thanksgiving.

Good morning, I ha a good dinner with DD and her family. I took raw veggies. AS I set up the tray, Tony can in and said "tomato", I gave him a grape tomato and he was back three more times before I got the veggies cut and on the tray. I told DD h must really like tomatoes. DD told me she forgot to tell me they don't allow grape tomatoes in the house and Tony wasn't allowed t have tomatoes before dinner. I thought this was strange. We sat down and DD said "Tony you want meat"
"Tomato"
You want potato?
tomato
you want beans
tomato
I had bought a box of tomatoes. Tony's father got 2, no one else got any and there are non left.

I think the stores open in early only makes work. More often then not, People show up at the register with baskets of stuff and once you ring it al up they tell you they only have 1/2 that amount or they get home and someone in the house says no way and brings it all back the next day.

I read what you posted about working Black Friday. We suffer from the same event inflation in the UK. First it was Sunday opening. Now I have no intrinsic objection to Sunday trading; it enables some women (especially women) to earn extra income on a day when they don;t have to pay for childcare if the husband can look after the children. This year because of the Olympics Sunday opening hours were extended to 6 pm instead of 4. Did people really spend more? I suspect that they spent the same but over a longer period. And my son works in a small local supermarket. He ends up usually having to work Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, so he can never spend Christmas with us as a family. We're thinking of celebrating Russian Orthodox Christmas, on January 12th. After all, the date is purely traditional.

Think not. Do.

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving. I know it is a week early, but DD and I both have to work the day most people celebrate. We decided we could give thanks any day and we are both off today.

Yesterday on my status I said I was listening to Skinny Songs and I got people asking me to explain. Skinny Songs is a CD by that name. A song writer needed to lose weight and went looking for some motivational songs. She couldn't find any, so she wrote some. The line from my signature line is from one of the songs by the same name. The song is about how at the gym in the weight room there where mirrors on all the walls, she found it scary it was to see herself it the mirror. None of the songs are songs I would normally listen to, but they are motivational and get stuck in my head.

Good morning, I've got a nagging headache this morning, I'll get moving and and take Mutt out. Maybe the fresh air will help.

I'm watching another "news" thing about cashiers complaining about having to to work Black Friday specials on Thanksgiving. The problem is they are going about all wrong. If you really want stop "Black Friday" from starting on Thanksgiving, don't get caught up in the hype, wait till Saturday and shop Small Business Saturday.

Good morning, I did breakfast this morning. This is a big deal, DH does breakfast most of the time. He only fixes 3 things and complains that my not eating meat and eggs limits what he can fix. This morning we had black beans, potatoes, and avocado.

No the constant changing schedule isn't good, my body never knows what to do and I'm sure it is why I always feel worn out. I have never been a couch potato, but now sometimes have a major problem getting out of my recliner.

Good morning off to church. Since Wal-Mart has figured out I have set days off and was hired as anytime,, this is my last Sunday off for a while.

I read a book called "Secrets of a Working Dog: Unleash Your Potential and Create Success" it is "written by a boxer and is about how acting more like a dog will help us. I got a hint of what was to come in the forward. He was talking about dreams. He dreams of a bowl that dispenses calorie free kibbles all day.

Good morning. I forgot I had to get Beka this morning and got up late, but since I didn't get home till 11:30 last night so I can't really say 7 is late, been a one busy morning.

I lucked out and never had to put the children in day care. DH and I could always take care of them. DH was a VP Accounting at a hospital, so when the children got sick he took them to work with him and would call the head of pediatrics and tell him that he had a problem with his budget and oh he might need his thermometer. The Dr asked if a nurse might be able to handle the problem. Either way my children were taken care of.

That sounds like a tough schedule. Hope you get rewarded for working holidays. I once worked night shelf fill in a supermarket - we needed the money and it meant we didn't have to pay for child minding, which is prohibitively expensive. It nearly killed me though. Literally - by the end I was going to sleep over the steering wheel on the drive back home.

Good morning. I woke up with one those headache well I'm off again today. Wal-Mart fixed my schedule. This is good and bad. Good in that I'm no longer linked to the schedule of the other girl is when she is off I'm off too. Good in that I'm not limited to 32 hours a week. Bad in that I don't have Sundays off any more. I'm working 6P to 1A on the service desk Thanksgiving and the service desk 6P to 11P on Black Friday. All I can think of is that Thanksgiving I'm setting up all the registers for the people working Black Friday as for Black Friday is it because the service desk is open till 10:30P or because people that got caught up in the sales had buyers remorse.

A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.

- St. Francis of Assisi

Good morning. My body shut down last night. I've been working 11-8 or 2-11. then yesterday I worked 7A-3:30. That means I was at work before I'm normally up. I was in bed at 8:30 last night. I don't go in till 11 today.

Last night I was doing breaks. I might have had time to do one more break before I needed to go. Well a manager told me to pick up returns, sort them and be sure to leave on time. Wal-Mart says if you are scheduled to work 32 hours for the week you can only work 32 hours, so if you work over during the week you have to leave early on Friday. Well I had about 2 min before I had to leave when another manager saw me and said "there is a line, why are you sorting returns." I told here I left in 2 min. She told me I could leave when the line was down. I worked 20 min, got rid of the line, turned to the zone manager and said by. She looked at me and asked if I was leaving early. I told her I left at 3:30. She looked at the clock and said oh no. she had had me work over 20 min Saturday. Now I'm over 40 min and have 2 days left in the week and HR will make sure I leave early on Friday. Now we are running into a manager having to run customer service Friday evening either that or a mess for the night shift. Either way as one manager put someone is going to lose some backside.

Fasting blood test at the doctor's this morning. I hate fasting blood tests. Last time it took 45 minutes to get one test tube full. I drank some water this morning before going out, not a lot because on an empty stomach it makes me colicky, and she hit a gusher straight away. Thank goodness that's over for a few months.

Good morning, hope everyone set their clocks. This is the day DH celebrate our anniversary. We were married in August, but we met at church when we both forgot to change out clocks. We have joked that Bush wanted to mess us up when he changed the day we change our clocks, but we just changed our anniversary.

I checked the team map and I am on for all the teams already. Thanks for the reminder.

I lost power for three days also and am so happy to be home, but NJ is no way back to normal. Gas rationing begins today. I'm so close to PA that we'll just go there. I am wondering what they will do about voting with the polling places out of power. I assume they have to extend it.

The holiest of all holidays are those
Kept by ourselves in silence and apart;
The secret anniversaries of the heart.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Good Morning, I go in at 11 this morning and then have tomorrow off. Mom leaves for Atlanta tomorrow then for Johannesburg next week. Mom says it is a 14 hour no stop flight. I would love to hike South Africa, but she can keep a 14 hour, non stop plane flight.

It is amazing what a nurse forgets when it comes to her own children. Tony has been feeling poorly for the last couple of days. DD took Tony to the DR and the DR said he had post nasal drip from an allergy and to give him Claraton. Talking to DD this morning she said she thinks this happened once before that she took Tiny to the Dr and it was an allergy. I asked if it happened this time of year but she couldn't remember. I suggested she make the calendar and then she could tell next year. She hadn't thought of that.

If you go to the very bottom of the main team page you will see a button for it.

It's cold today, Wales was forecast 7 to 9 Celsius. I had Richard check the oil level, he reckons we have about 400 litres left which should last a while, and I've put in a request to daughter's in-laws for some more wood for the stove. That should be us set up for a while. I have a new packet of yeast and some bread flour in the cupboard and the freezer is fairly full. Can't do much more until we get a snow forecast.

Also to keep me amused the keyboard for my tablet has arrrived so I can get on with the creative writing I need to do.

I'm about alittle over an hour up from NYC. We lost power for 3 days. But we have a generator, so all was well, cable was out too. Back online again today.

The best portion of a good man's life: his little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love.

- William Wordsworth

Good morning, I'm working noon to 9 today. Mutt and I have already gotten out walk in. I was thinking as I went out this morning. This week I have worn a long sleeve shirt with hoody, tee shirt, and tank top. Today I'm back to a tee, If I hadn't be walking I would have preferred a long sleeve shirt.

Doreen I added the map to my controles, but now how do I see the map?

I cribbed this from another team:

"Click Community
Click Spark Teams
Click Manage my Team Emails and Settings – button above your teams
All of your Spark Teams will show and have 6 boxes/columns
to check and/or make your choices that control function
Click the box in fourth column - Show on Team Map"

Hope it works

Good morning. I'm off today. The computer gave me another 16 hour week, so I'll have to talk to a manager tomorrow. Off to vote.

Just occurred to me - have you all got yourselves on the team map? If I can work out how to do it I will check I am on. Only it seemed that as I don't know an awful lot about US geography, I would know who to worry about in bad weather if I could see where you all are.

(Later) Yes, I'm on.

Welcome back! So glad to hear you made it through. How wonderful that you got to a friends place. Most of my family is still in NJ. So many bad areas. Stay safe.

HI all,

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been busy writing and speaking.

We are all safe here in NJ. Power is out and trees and lines down all around us. Our house and all is safe. We lost power immediately and came to stay in a friend's apt before roads closed. She is one of the 8% that didn't lose power. I thank God all the family is safe in their respective areas.
