Noah Primordial by Brian Godawa

The Biblical Noah and his grandfather Methuselah fighting the Sumerian gods, who turn out to be fallen angels. The humans get a little help from the archangels and ultimately from a very rainy few weeks. No spoiler alerts here - we all know how the story ends - but an interesting read reminiscent of Tolkien.

What you never knew about religion, but should
Ryan T. Cragun

I study other religions and do comparative religion studies as do my parents and husband. We read, visit churches and visit with people. Quite a bit of this we had figured out on our own, but had never seen it from sociologist stand point, not with facts to back us up, not with explanations as to the why.

Blood of Fire

Wenona Hulsey

This is a story about the war Nicole fights between the Faye and the Worriers. There are two guys that want to be her boyfriend, one faye and one worrier. I think the real war is convincing these two men that she can't hate half of herself.

Burden of Blood by
Wenona Hulsey

The book started a little slow and I started to put it down, but pushed on and am glad i did. An action book with a little romance that isn't a romance. I could tell it wasn't going to end like I would expect it to end, but at the same time I wasn't sure.

All Roads Lead To Austin: A Year Long Journey With Jane, by Amy Elizabeth Smith

If you enjoy Jane Austin's novels, you'll appreciate Smith's book. As a university professor who teaches a course on Austin, Smith spends time in 6 different Latin American countries, chatting with groups who have read either EMMA, SENSE & SENSIBILITY, or PRIDE & PREJUDICE.

Smith has an easy, chatty style, entertaining the reader with her language and cultural challenges, as well as examining the appeal of Austin across time and cultures. The appeal and universality of Austin's characters are a thread running through the narrative.

Requiem by Ken McClure

I think I got this one as a candidate for the monthly read a while back. Think of a British version of Robin Cook - a medical-based thriller with a good and plausible plot, even more now than when it was first written - good characterization, fast action. Then it got to the last page and for me was totally spoiled. Don't read it if you like a tidy ending. Was it worth it? I shall try another by him and see how that pans out, but it might be from the library rather than bought.

Think not. Do.

The Devil's Cradle (Kendall O'Dell Series #2) by Sylvia Nobel

Slow read at first about half way through the story the plot really developed for me that is when I was trying to figure out who did what thought I had it figured partially did but was wrong about one character in the story. Another book I'm glad I finished through with it to the end

Firebird L.R. Rigel
This book isn't the same action book as the first two books of the series. I liked the book, but would have liked the action of the first two. This book was more like a love story. I very interesting love story with a twist, but a love story.

Hidden Legacy

My rating 4/5

This is about a lady that goes to America by herself after her husband dies in the 1700's. She has to make a life for herself. The book is full of descriptions of the clothing, customs, and lifes of the people of that time in America. It even has some recipes.

Death in the Orchid Garden by Ann Ripley

My Rating: 1/5

The opening description of swimming in the man-made lagoon at the hotel in all of its exotic beauty lured me right into the story. However, the extreme detail continued throughout the book, vivid descriptions of place and clothing and people. Way too much detail for this reader. It was a safari through the palm fronds to find the story.

The violence seemed to move this story out of the cozy genre into gruesome territory albeit with azure water and lush plant life.

Sad to say, I am disappointed in this outing with Ann Ripley.(

In Too Deep by Jayne Ann Krentz

My rating: 2/5

In reading my first paranormal novel, I found an engaging story line featuring Isabela Valdez seeking a safe place to live in Scargill Cove. Powers and talents and fogs draw the reader into the world of nexus energy. Populated with cleverly drawn characters, the story moves with energy and mystery.

There is a certain silliness to it all as parallels to the real world have with clever descriptions and adaptations for this genre. I found myself smiling as I came across "para-" words: parapsychology, paraweapons, parahypnotist. When the protagonist shouted "Oh crap!" I expected her to say "paracrap".

However, there are a couple of glitches for me. Although this author has written many books, this story could have been more skillfully rendered in the hands of a more able author. The plot line is advanced all too often through dialog. So it seems like a character speaks with explain, explain, explain. Then another character fine tunes with a bit more explanation. Someone poses a question and explanation ensues via dialog. It was quite distracting because the dialog seemed too contrived.

I skipped through the sex scenes though some readers enjoy that bit of detail. So, maybe one sex scene, but layering gratuitous repetition seems unnecessary.

Overall, it was a good story, heavy on drama and romance.

Duchess of Death: The Unauthorized Biography of Agatha Christie by Richard Hack

My rating: 5/5

I stayed up late to finish this engrossing biography of Agatha Christie. I knew nothing about Christie's life and am astounded by the enterprises that she experienced. She is an immensely interesting person, so the story moves rapidly along with one surprise after another. The fluid writing made me feel as though I were gobbling up the words, eager to get to the next.
This book is an excellent read even if you are unfamiliar with her work. This is a story of adventure.

Happy Reading! emoticon

Salt Bride: A Georgian Historical Romance by Lucinda Brant

This is a new author to me, though she has a few books out there already. It is another historical, set in earlier Georgian era. The heroine has apparently been debauched, left pregnant and abandoned by the hero, but all is not quite as it seems. The plot is not immediately in your face, but unfolds gradually. To start with it's a bit difficult to sort out who is who and their relationships to each other, but all will become clear if you persevere. I don't know if it still is free on Kindle, if it is and you like this era, I can recommend it.

Think not. Do.
