What makes us bond as friends is a mystery, but friendships form some of our most important relationships.

Great reminder! It wasn't in the class so I didn't include it~and working in the pharmacy I do we don't deal with supplements so I don't always think of the combination of them. So thanks for that reminder!

Thanks for the reminder. I never remember the calcium, because I can't take it in the morning with my thyroid.

You forgot to mention that Vit D and calcium are best when taken together since Vit D helps us to absorb the Calcium! Also, for those of us with thyroid disorders, Make sure calcium is taken 4 hours away from your thyroid meds so that it's properly absorbed and doesn't interfere with the absorption of the thyroid meds!

Today I attended the Curves weight loss class.Today was day one and recommended our "diet" begin on monday. I am all for that!~
There were a few tidbits I thought I would share with you. This may be new or a repeat to what you all know ~ so consider it a refresher!
Point #1 : restricting calories decreases your metabolism. (I found this interesting since that is what most weight loss plans function under. The theory behing this is that too low of a calorie consumption puts your body in a "starvation Mode". I have heard this countless times..but I always heard calories in - calories out = weight loss. In essence this is right but the calories you are consuming matter. 600 calories in soda drinks aren't nutritous.Yet eating more protien (to preserve muscle), increasing strength training and eating the right carbs = success!)

Point 2: Move toward your goal. As long as you are moving in the right directions - even with falling off - keep moving! I think of falling off as speed bumps..not road blocks. So get over your bump and keep going! WE CAN DO IT!

Point 3: Have mini-goals ; keep a food diary ( no matter what diet you are doing!); Weigh weekly to monitor your progress (any more than that does not help but set up disappointments for weight fluctuations) ; eat snacks (should be putting something in your tum tum every 4 hours or so! Healthy snacks so plan ahead!); drink your water (64 oz a day - typically)

Point 4: Eat your veggies. Many veggies are so low in calories that you burn calories just eating them! (celery). So get your veggies in...they fill you and they are good....Eat from the rainbow!

Point 5: Make sure to get your Vitamin D in! Vit D deficency is connected to many diseases! Such as my multiple sclerosis! So get at least 20 minutes of sun a day --- without sunscreen --- and take a muti vitamin! ; Calcium is needed for your bones and they recommend 2-3 serving a day! Calcium Citrate is best absorbed! ; Omega 3 is needed (fish oil) So eat your fish 2x/week or take a supplement. This is good for the brain!

I am looking forward to beginning new changes and as overwhelming as some of the things can be... I realize it is that way because it is new. Next class is in a month. Till then it is time to "keep moving forward". .. .I will set up cushions on the side of my wagon in case I fall off.... :)

See you thinner/healthier later!
