Ups - Mom going to skilled nursing care - waiting to hear more.

Downs - Little brother - I can't "fix" him. Had hoped he'd grown past all of that, but hasn't. I had been hoping for a miracle - guess not this time.

up.. i measured today..since january i have lost five and a half inches so that three pounds im struggling with going up and down is not the be all and end all!

down...today started off rough and i binged all day today on more calories than i even want to add to the tracker!

Hello all:

Well we might as well call this the elevated part of the chat room. i too have to sit with my feet elevated again as my feet are swelling. but I still can do some of the exercises as long as I do them on the bed. LOL LOL So we will all elevate feet now, drink our water, and exercise all we can with out injuring the rest of us. That will be a trick or two for several of us, but know we can make it through this time of elevation.

Happy feet are elevated feet ladies and gents.

Keep on quacking....we listen :)

Took me almost a year to lose 66#'s. Doing it the right way.
Sticking to it.

I am glad I did this. Other years it would be up then
down, quit, and start over again like a yo-yo.

I am retaining water again, and need feet and legs elevated which is best done while laying in bed.
Where I am headed for soon.

As one says, These things too will pass. :)

Hi Everyone,

My Downs are that whenever anything is wrong, first thing the doctors say you can stand to lose some weight. I know that, what I don't know is what causes the pain intermittently. I never called myself obese, but according to the doctors, charts, that's what I am. Does that mean they shouldn't try to find out what causes my pain. Doctor says I now have fallen arches and have plantar fasciitis - did I put on weight suddenly. Well yes I did, how about 25# in a year and probably 10# the year before that and so on until it now adds up to 85# that I have to lose. My knees hurt - doctor says you can stand to lose some weight. Had chest pains, doctor determined it wasn't a heart attack but I was again told I could stand to lose some weight. These are 3 different doctors. Well, I'm working on it. When I tore my rotator cuff, all I did was try to scoot up at the bar while at a restaurant. Was my behind so heavy that I couldn't scoot properly. I heard the pop, but didn't know the extent of the damage, until about 10 days later when I went for xrays. Okay, you'll notice that I ramble.

The UPS - now that I have been exercising more, the scale hasn't gone down, but I do feel slimmer and better, my knees are not hurting as much. As long as I have on the proper shoes and wear my orthotics - my feet hurt less. When I do have pain in my feet, I try to think what was I doing at the time. Uh oh, I was at home standing a lot in my isotoner slippers which is a no no. Absolutely no support there.

My biggest UP has been the positive support I've been receiving this last year from all of my new SparkFriends. The support has been invaluable and keeps me motivated. AND when someone tells me they've read a blog of mine and it has motivated them - well that's even better.

I'll keep quacking as long as you want to listen.

HI ALL

i'M DOING PRETTY GOOD. PT is still a bit tough. But know that I will get through this.

Great job Posey. Keep up the good work. It's not easy you get frustrated and I know that one. But we all keep going like the energizer bunny and we will make it to our goals. I have lost over 270 pounds. Have had a few set backs with health this last year, and slowed my progress down. But I'm not letting it get to me.

I will lose the last 120 pounds and do it the right way. Slow and properly. That way I will keep the weight off.

I also have a thing with my weight that makes losing it hard it is called genetics. Unfortunately it makes the weight loss journey a bit more tough. But I haven't given up, and don't plan to any day soon. I want my new knees, and a new right ankle so I can go walking, and dancing without so much pain. So I will be keep on trucking on the healthier journey to an thinner and healthier me no matter what.

I want my fun back in my life! ! ! !

So here I go on this new Team

My UPS are thsi sight it keep me motivated when I read so many else have done it.

The DOWNS plateaus I have hit one and it is driving me crazy. I just read a blog and it took one lady 7 years to lose her weight, I have to tell you that is way too slow for me.

I have PPS post polio syndrome and I have to use it or lose it but not over do it. Very hard to control with my temperament.

I have been at this since June and am down 54 pounds and I am half way there. I pray it will be downhill from here. I am off a lot of meds I use to be on. My BP has improved and I have tons of energy. Just have to work on perservering.

By the way I am a quak so I am perfect for this team.

My name is Rosemary, I go by Rose and my mom calls me Posey hence the name posey440 I answer to any of them. emoticon emoticon emoticon closest thing to a cracker. emoticon emoticon

Judy, Let us know how you feel today.

Up: I climbed up the hill behind my house to pick up garbage from a dump that is twelve years old.

Down: I hauled two bags back down the hill to take to the city recycling center. I am tired and worn out, but feeling pretty good about my effort.

PS: I couldn't have done this a month ago. It is the gabapentin that seems to have helped the nerve pain.

Hey, Polkamama, just take it one day at a time! And don't work too hard at first. Let it grow over time. Effort and consistency will do the trick. I have to deal with my mental state more than anything. I really have to work to get up in the A.M. and do my elliptical machine or my outdoors walk. Just have to work through it.

Down: cholesterol is up, doc put me on Lipitor.

Up: I can get back on Spark and put myself on a cholesterol free diet and maybe get myself off the pills.

Afternoon all;

Well today has been a very hard day. Today is the first day of any exercise in two months that I only could do in the bed. Now that i am off bed rest i'm in the process of doing Rehab PT for a torn ligament, and a ruptured hamstring in my left leg.So when I have been getting up I have been on crutches mostly for the last 2 months. Today started PT. know better to overdo it. Did 5 reps on each leg this morning and will do them one more time yet today. for a total of 10 a day for several days till I get the muscles used to do the exercises. Than I will kick up the reps as I can and try for a couple of more besides.after a week of this I can start adding my old routine back as long as I start all over again and slow. The positive side is I KNOW I CAN DO THIS AS I HAVE DONE IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE.
sO IT IS ONE DAY AT A TIME, AND OR ONE MINUTE AT A TIME. DEPENDING ON WHAT i AM doing

I have astma, sleep apnea, and osteo--arthritis in my knnes ankles and hands and wrists.
So have to take each day at it's own merits and do the best zI can. Today may not be so good, but i know each day will get a bit easier, and eventually the pain will be less.

So lets keep Quacking all

My downs are: I can't weight bear much on my left leg due to an accident that I had. I fell and the femur crushed the top of the tibia. It now has a big tea cup shaped crush in the top that can be exacerbated by walking or any weight bearing. Therefore I have to be very careful and MUST lose weight. The same leg developed circulation problems and has been giving me a fit with venus stasis ulcers, for which I am being treated by a wound specialist. They seem to be clearing up but I will always have an issue with them according to my doctor if I am not careful to elevate my legs and again LOSE WEIGHT.

My ups: I AM losing weight. I love to exercise in the pool so that helps with avoiding the weight bearing. I am pushing myself to become a life guard. I have a GREAT support system here at spark and with my family & friends. I am grateful to be alive!

We all have our up's and dow's in life.
Due to sickness, illness, or other.

Mine are: I find it difficult at times to raise
my arms, to wash my hair or even brush it.
Taking a shower, walking, or even exercising.
Typing at times is difficult due to atrophy, cramping of my fingers and hands, or numbness.

My ups are: With medication for pain, nerves, and
muscles, I can have days of relief to do these
important every day tasks. Patience is good at
this time.
