:) Thanks. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The ceiling fabric was really the only expensive part for 20 yards of fabric. The rest we found at partycheap.com (or cheapparty....can't remember LOL,) and with the signs being hand made and the supplies for cups/plates being the .97 stuff to make it as crappy backwater planet as we could, the only real expensive stuff was the fabric and the cake. :)

I couldn't post all of them because of the kid there; I didn't have permission from parents to post their pics and I don't do that without asking. The purple fabric on the couches can't be seen thanks to my ex husband there making it sink into the loveseat LOL, but you can see it on the big couch beside the nightstand covered in orange satin. :)

I'm getting them ready tonight. The food went over so flipping well. The bao recipe I found right here on Sparkpeople; even making it for a potluck here at work next week LOL. I had ZERO food left after the party; everybody just swarmed on it. Just a tiny bit of mudder's milk left and half a jug of cider, and that's about it. Happy to see it went over so well. :) Daughter had a blast and that's definitely what matters. Totally happy that she loved it, so many didn't get some of the little inside jokes (like how the sign was hand painted crappy for happy birthday and looked like the bar sign "not responsible for ball failure.") But SHE got it, and that's what matters. :)

Pictures coming soon, but here is what I posted in another group as far as what we planned for the theme and some things we did. I can thank the Geek With Curves blog for some great ideas on this one. :)

This was posted before the party, and everything here was what we in fact did:

So far, the plan is to make the living room into Inara's shuttle. Orange satin fabric over the ceiling under the fan to blot the light in an orange glow, Red chinese print fabric, purple, and yellow fabrics to drap over the windows, TV, and couches, and some Green Chinese print fabrics too. Candles, Chinese artifacts, tea set, etc, around the room. Jay is taking some cardboard, his art set, and some Gray spray paint this week, and making the design of the shuttle console to put over the computer desk in the living room. We have a 62+ inch tv in the living room that we're draping with fabric and I'm putting together a slideshow of screencaps from the show/movie set to music by Filk singers (One of which is a band you can see on Netflix from that Documentary called "Done The Impossible." They're called the Bedlam Bards,) that's gonna play during the party.

The kitchen is gonna be the backwater, rustic planet look. Bought a wood barn wall plastic cling that is gonna go on the kitchen wall, and a wall cling that looks like a saloon door to go over the back patio door that leads from the dining room outside. We have twinkle lights with Mason Jar covers that we're taping around the dining room/kitchen bar island where the food is going. We bought her the Independence Army flag, which we're hanging up in the kitchen, along with borrow my mother's old antique oil lamps (for that vintage western feel,) to put up on shelves out of reach of the kids, but where they are visible, and taking some old western/Indian blankets my in-laws are letting us borrow to put over the kitchen chairs. We have brown table cloths (Browncoats. *Winks*) and brown plates, plus green/yellow cups, utensils, napkins, and streamers (the colors of the Indepenence flag.) Plus, we're writing out "Happy Birthday" in Chinese on a banner for her, with a banner outside the house to advertise that party that'll read "Might fine shindig goin' on inside!"

The food is themed too "Fresh Bao," "Strawberries from the Southdown Abby," "Good Dogs" (When they were in port and Jayne not only got his hat, but they got the body in "The Message," you hear that vendor selling "Good Dogs,") non-alcoholic "Mudders Milk," "Fruity Oaty bars," cupcakes with Jayne's hat in the icing, and a cake with outer space as the base and Serenity flying over it in fondant...and when you cut into the cake red jelly will oooze out...like "Reavers blood."

This was posted after the party. I loved this part LOL:

Should have seen the look on her face when we brought out Simon's Cake for her. She had her Serenity cake, but just as she started to blow out the candles I stopped her:

Me: "WHOA WHOA...what are you doing?
Her: "Uh...blowing out my candles."
Me: "Oh...I feel so silly. You thought THIS was YOUR cake? Oh everybody, I'm embarrassed. See, in this show, they're out in space and they don't have the supplies to make cake's like this. They can only make crappy cakes with crappy big candles. Nothing fancy. Like when the ship's doctor had HIS birthday..."

Then I played the scene from Out Of Gas when Simon had his birthday and Kaylee brought out the crappy chocolate cake.

Me: "So THIS is not your cake...."

Then my ex husband signaled down the hall to my husband, who brought out a crappy put together (on purpose, mind you,) chocolate cake that I baked with huge candelabrum sized candles like in the episode sticking out of it, lit and ready to go.

Me: "THIS is your cake!"

She started cracking up laughing, and the guests did too. ROFL.
