i actually didn't even know there was a show to the movie until after i saw Serenity, loved it, and did a bit of research.

occasionally my fiance and i have a Firefly marathon.. ;)

we try to convert our friends, usually by hooking them with Serenity (shorter/action-packed) instead of the show, cause i think Firefly takes a bit longer for character development etc... but yeah, almost everyone we've shown it to likes it. psssh they'd have to be crazy not to :)

i like stargate atlantis... and farscape....

My friend is the one that got ME into Firefly. She bought me the series for my birthday, because she just knew that I would love it. And love it I do. I have watched them with and without commentary, all the extras, Serenity, I have gotten into the comics. I am SUCH a nerd, but I'm just fine with that. I'm a bigger fan than even she is now!

I have been spending the last two days doing a Firefly marathon. My husband was home for the 4th and simply doesn't get the series. So, to relax and enjoy, after he goes back on the job, I indulge. Jaynestown is on next. I am waiting for my 16 year old to get his chores done so that we both can watch. He really gets into that particular episode.

I tried Stargate the series, its Ok but it just isn't the same.

I will have to go to target and see if I can get it on sale. I just keep recording the episodes from the sci fi channel. ha ha.

Yeah, Stargate the movie was a bit doo-dooish! That's why I never bothered with the tv series, either.

I don't watch Stargate, mostly because the original movie with James Spader and Kurt Russell was the biggest piece of doo-doo ever to grace the silver screen.

I understand that the series is pretty good, but I just can't get over that horrible movie.

When I first saw the commercials for Firefly, I KNEW that it was a show my husband would like. He saw the first episode and decided it wasn't for him... Fast forward years and years later, and our friend gave us a copy to watch (I don't remember if it was a gift, or if it was on loan).

WE WERE HOOKED. So, we do what he does (and what JD mentioned). Target often sells the whole series for $19.99. That is the perfect time to pick it up and save it for birthday or Christmas presents.

Either you're a browncoat or you're not. I mean, if someone just thinks it's "okay" or says it's crappy, then THEY don't get it. It's still a wonderful series & movie. I don't waste my energy trying to convince people that don't like it.

Shomac, I wonder what kind of TV shows he thought were decent? But everyone has wildly different tastes, I am finding. I know a lot of people who are hardcore Browncoats who also love Stargate, a show which I happen to think is a pile of gosa. I'm paying someone to edit around and just show me clips of Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin and Claudia Black and Ben Browder (Farscape) because I love those actors but I think Stargate is awful. And I've given it a lot of chances, with a fan choosing the so-called 'best' episodes for me to watch and explaining things to me so I would be able to follow everything.

Guess some people just don't appreciate creative shows with good writing.

I got my dad, my best friend and her boyfriend into Firefly after loaning them the DVDs, but I'm keeping 'em to myself now after loaning them to a colleague who said it was "the biggest pile of sh...." he'd ever seen!! Philistine! Just *how* can he think that?

I was one of the converted people. My friend and my father kept insisting that I rent the series and watch it. I was hooked! My father later bought me the series on DVD (when they had the big sale). I have been trying to get my brother to watch it ever since.

I am a SF fan so loving Firefly was easy. I think people who don't like SF would also love Firefly, but it's hard to get those people to try it out.

I have to say that I wasn't a big fan of the movie Serenity. I watched it after watching the series and was disappointed by it.

Yeah I did, but I live in a world of reality show fiends. My one sister and her husband are Firefly fans--they watched the show from the beginning and we all went to see Serenity in the theatre. My brother-in-law got my boss into Firefly...he had gone to see Serenity at the theatre and came into work raving about it, so my bro-in-law loaned him the series dvds that he had, and the boss loved it. He thinks River is great.

Definitely ... Target had the whole series on sale for $20 each last December, and we bought several of them to loan or give as gifts. We love converting folks into Firefly fans!

My sister came over and I let her borrow Serenity... I know she will like it. I wish I had the Series DVDs for her to watch first but I haven't bought those yet. She is supposed to call me and let me know what she thinks.

After you watched Firefly did you try and get other people to watch it too?
