The sun has been shining and some of the ice is melting. I am concerned about it refreezing. The city has not treated the roads at all.
Oakley has been wild today. I think she is getting cabin fever. I don't think she understands how to unhook her claws when she gets stuck. Just another reason to keep them short.

Thanks! Another cold night and day here, and lots more rain on the way. I have the boy home with me again today. Not sure if I have to go into work at all today or not yet. I got the space heater going and I am bundled up and taking lots of vitamin C.

Take care

Carol, that is great news, glad your sonís scan came back good. Home your sinuses clear up, but with weather like this, who knows. We had mid 50ís today and rain, but now the wind is howling, and itís dropping fast.

Teresa, be careful out there. Ice can be so dangerous.

Janette, thatís nice that you can stay home with your boyfriendís son. I'm sorry to see anyone get that stomach virus.

Kay - don't overdo; not worth your health.

CAROL - sinus infections are awful; hope you feel better.

All my best to you all always.

We got down to 29 supposedly last night here. It was cooler in the day and in the night for sure. We went ahead and turned on our portable heaters. We have a sick kid home too. He is 14 and fighting a cold and stomach virus. Luckily I was scheduled to be off today, so he didn't have to stay home by himself. As his mom is out of town on a business trip, and his dad had to work too. He was home sick with his mom Tuesday in the morning and then came over here later in the afternoon when she had to leave. We thought he was doing better yesterday so the bf sent him to school, but he supposedly threw up again after school. So we kept him home again today. Not sure what we will do tomorrow. So far he isn't throwing up again. I supposedly get to go into work later tomorrow if I am going in, but that could change. I was supposed to be off today, but ended up having to run into the office earlier this afternoon to give a client some papers. Luckily I didn't have to be there long, so the kid wasn't home by himself long. But he is 14, so I wouldn't be so worried about it if he did.

We got snow in our local mountains again. But not right where we are. Take care

That is great news, Carol. I am happy for you and your son!

We have had really bizarre weather. Last night it thundered with lightening, rained ice, and snowed. It is extremely slick out today. I have a package expected, and hesitate to go to the mailbox. However, since it is some medications I suppose I should give it a try. I wish I had some of the old sand cat litter to spread along the way.

I wish everyone a good day!

Teresa

Good news! My son's PET scan came back with good results. Thank God! It is a step in the right direction.

I'm currently recovering from a sinus infection. It is supposed to be in the 40's today and 20's tomorrow. It's not a wonder I became sick.

Teresa, freezing drizzle or rain is the worst. I don't like to drive or go out in that either. I would have rescheduled too. Believe me, I have to pace myself because I get tired so easy.

Krys, I'm getting there. I did get the house clean today. They're decorating at the reception hall tomorrow. Don't know whether I'll help with that or not.

We're supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow; it's supposed to be warm too. That doesn't help when ground is still frozen & can't absorb the water.

Krys- We have had a freezing drizzle during the day. It is supposed to turn into rain tonight creating at least 1/4 inch ice coating. Possible snow over that. The next few weeks don't look very good. I am hoping I can get to the appointment I cancelled today. I keep hoping for a turn for the better.

In the meantime I am trying not to worry over things which I have no control.
I have been busy trying to do the things I keep putting off.

Kay and Krys, thank you for the birthday wishes for Oakley.

Kay- Pace yourself so you don't wear down and can't enjoy the festivities. It can be stressful when we are off schedule.

We are supposed to get ice/rain this afternoon. I am hoping to catch up a bit myself.

A good Hump day to all!

Teresa, Happy Birthday to Oakley! emoticon We love our pets! I'd be lost without mine.

Trying to get caught up on everything I let go for 6 days. I'm behind on so much and my nephew is getting married this weekend so that means overnight company here from relatives coming into town for it.

Today is Oakley's "birthday". We have been together for a year now. It is still a work in progress, but she is definitely my girl.

I am sorry everyone is having sinus issues. I also have them. Today, however, is one of my good days.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

I'm dealing with sinus issues due to the weather change -15 and now in the high 40's . It is so annoying that my sinuses always react that way. It is better than yesterday, but still bothering me. I plan on taking a hot shower. That should help.

Kay, I hope you get your health issues resolved soon.

I am beginning to think Oakley really likes yoga. When she heard the background music, she came in from the other room, looked at the screen, and curled up relaxed, but alert. February 5th I will have had her one year. We still have a ways to go, but she is learning.

I talked to my sister, who has been a health nurse for years, and she thinks that itís food poisoning from a salad that I ate at a restaurant a couple of days before I got sick. I do have all the symptoms and since itís not going away like norovirus. If Iím not better by Monday, she suggests a test the can do to determine it and how to treat it. Sigh:(

Kay, I hope you feel better soon.

I had a bug which took me almost two weeks to recover. I am finally sleeping well, and feel more energetic. There is a bit lingering but I choose to take care of the symptoms and ignore it.

Oakley has been a big help in keeping me company and getting me to stir.

Krys, oh, I still vacuum, but itís so much easier than when I had carpet. I have a small, but high powered canister vacuum. I have a lot of steps and I didnít like dragging a big upright one up and down the stairs.

Carol, it was -40+ here today. Nearly everything but necessary businesses are closed, tomorrow too. At least we didnít have the snow and even colder weather that some did.

Teresa, how are you doing?

Kay, I have had extremely dry lips also. I have used a great deal of lip balm. I have found something called OES and I like the way it feels. It has kept me from biting off all my skin.

Carol, I hope your son continues to get better.

I need to do some cleaning, but I just can't seem to get motivated. The weather is playing havoc with my sinuses.
Have a good day everyone, and stay safe and warm.

Carol, I have a lot of trouble with dry skin too. Not so much my hands, as my lips. I drink lots of water, but I still have dry, chapped lips even the skin around them. I don't know maybe it's because of my allergies & sinus problems. Hope your son is having a good week.

Teresa, the flu can really take it out of you. Glad to hear you're feeling some better; hope you continue to gain strength.

Krys, I have hardwood floors, so sweeping, I don't mind.

Thank you Carol. Last night I had my first full eight hours of sleep in almost two weeks. I am feeling much better. The change in weather is playing with my sinuses but that is more the norm.

I am hoping to become gradually more active. I will probably begin in a day or so with a little yoga. I have different levels and will likely begin with an easier one.

Have a good week everyone!!

Teresa

Hungrywoman, hope you are feeling better after having the flu. Luckily, I have not been sick this Winter. My son has cancer & I have to be very careful not to get sick so I do not get him sick. I began taking immune boost pills and am washing my hands a lot. The downside of that is my hands are always getting chapped.

I am still a bit wiped out from the flu. The incoming weather front is causing sinus issues. I made some chicken soup, and it seems like I used every pot and dish in the kitchen.
I did get out and made it to church. Oakley has been quite good today.

Laundry is one of my least favorite tasks. Lol

Today was cold but at least sunny. I walked inside again. Will be so glad to be able to walk outdoors again!

Hi! Read all the posts, sorry I wasn't here last night. We went to the live theater but it wasn't that good. By the time we got home, I was tired!

Teresa, occasionally, my cat jumps up on end tables or chests, etc.; sheís not supposed to because sheís so big she accidentally knocks things off. She broke a ceramic bud vase from one of my friendsí wedding, a sentimental object. Sheís a nosy girl.

Janette, I didnít realize it was that cool in the winter there, although it sounds good to me. Theyíre saying we could have wind chills of -40 next week. Now that I donít like. I generally donít mind the cold. The only thing I mind about our winters is the lack of sunshine, we have a lot of gray days.

We have been kind of back and forth. Some nice and sunny days, some cooler and windy and or rainy.

In Dec we had lots of cold rainy and frosty mornings, days and evenings down in the 30's and not getting up to 50's or out of the 50's in the day. Our wall heater is not working so I used portable heaters and it doubled our heating bill for last month. So I am trying not to have to turn them on again. Trying to see if I can get the bill down again for Jan, in the beginning of Feb. As I am the one that is covering the cost of the utilities now, even though they are in the bf's name and he pays them online with the cash I give him for it. So I haven't turned on the heaters since I saw the last bill. But the bf is sometimes turning one on in the living room and leaving it on all night until he goes to work in the morning. As he is usually sleeping on the couch or in a lazy boy chair out there. I just throw another blanket on me if I need it at night. I usually run warm at night and don't want a lot on me or a heater on me. It is during the day when I am home trying to type and do excel spread sheets at home for work that I am usually cold. Or when I am sitting in the living room watching TV at night or on the weekends. And then I just use a throw blanket if I feel cold. I got blamed for the bill going up as I was running the space heater during the day while I was doing my bookkeeping. Even though he had it on during the evening and morning. So I just stopped using them. So now it will be him running them not me.

Yesterday I had to run into the office for a short bit around noon time for two clients and then run some errands for two others after. The day started out cooler, cloudy and windy down in the 40's when we were waking up and getting everyone off to where ever they had to go in the morning. Then it started warming up as the sun was coming up more and more. By the time I was running into work it was in the low 70's, sunny and beautiful while I was running around. But by the time I got back up the hill to the house it was still sunny out, but a cold wind was blowing hard on and off. I had thought I was going to open the house up to let the sun come in. But I wasn't getting any warmth from the sun, just cold blast of air coming through the doors and windows. So the house was just getting cooler not warmer. I put on a thick sweat jacket most of the day yesterday before going to the office and after getting back from the office, and closed the house up again.

Today started off in the low 40's and cloudy, but not really windy. Even though I wasn't planning on going into work this morning I got up at 6 am. I took the kid over to where his mom lives about 25 mins away from us in a nearby city, so he could catch the school bus. It was still in the 40's when we left so I had a warm sweat jacket on, and I had to turn the defroster on for the windows, and my hands were cold too.

Now it is afternoon and the sun is out, there is a cool breeze but not as bad as yesterday so far. But it doesn't feel as warm outside as yesterday either. But I wasn't sitting in a pickup truck that got heated up sitting in the sun all morning today, like yesterday either. We were supposedly around 70 outside again today at noon. Inside our two gauges showed 60. I have had my sweat jacket on most of the day so far. I did open the two doors to try to let some heat in since it is not really windy today. It didn't feel like it was warming the house up.
But also didn't feel like it was making it a lot colder like it did yesterday to me. But I noticed the smaller dog went into the bathroom and was on the rug shaking shortly afterwards. So I closed the one door to the back yard and just left the front open. And then let her go in on to the bed so she could lay on a warm fuzzy blanket instead. But the bigger dog is hogging the spot where she wanted to be. So she didn't want to stay there either. Sometimes they will cuddle up and other times they don't want to be next to each other. So then they have to see which one gets the spot they want on the bed or couch or where ever first. Funny, just like kids sometimes. I already closed the doors as the temps was start dropping fast already even though it is still hours before the sun goes completely down.

Looks like we will be going back and forth from 40's to low 50's overnight for a few days or so, and the 60's to mid-70's during the day. Looks like we will be mostly cloudy, some chances of rain on and off. And some days with high winds again too.

We had some days, weeks earlier when we were having frost advisories, or high winds advisories too.

I think what gets me so much is the varying temps even during the day and night, and also from day to day.

You can go from a cold and frosty morning to a beautiful sunny day for several hours and then right back to cold, cloudy and windy. Or you can have a couple of beautiful days and then have cold and damp days.

My sinus have been on the runny, sniffles, sneezing during the morning and night, but could be fine for a few hours while it is warmer out. Sometimes because of my asthma I am a little wheezing during the mornings and later evenings too.

We don't have like the four different seasons here, so much as like when I was in VA for a while. Here anytime all year you can get a really hot Santa Ana wind kick up and end up around 100 or more, or you can get a cold Santa Ana wind and just have cold high winds which we have been having on and off lately. Mostly during the winter months is when we can dip down in temps and get to freezing weather, but it can happen some other times too. Especially if a cold front comes down from Canada. We have local mountains around us too that can get cold enough to get snow in the winter time. Palomar Mountain is probably about 30-45 minutes away from us to the north east, or Julian and Mt Laguna is about an hour away from us to the south east. They all had snow recently.

Our weather has been a roller coaster also. It is steadily getting and staying colder.
Oakley knocked off one of my antiques and broke it. I have always to remember she is just a curious cat. She has been keeping me company as I recover. However, she seems not to like to have my attention put elsewhere.

Janette - how cold do you get? Georgia, where I'm at, gets a couple of days of cold off and on, but this year has been crazy!

KAY - we had real balmy weather, it got up to 71 but the cold mass is coming and we'll have rain then cold 30-20 after that. It's like a roller coaster ride!
