I think I've done just about all those things at some point. But, I have the tendency to either eat or workout to alleviate stress. Total opposite reactions, but it's the truth!

I mostly just try to work through it and remind myself that it'll pass, so long as I don't ignore it. If I need to vent, I confide in my mother if she's available or rant on my blog at LiveJournal.

Well, I may not want to admit it (!), but to be honest, it's:

When you're stressed, what do you usually do?

Reach for food--fast!
Walk or exercise to clear my head
Relax with deep breathing, meditation or yoga
Call a friend to talk it out
Lash out at others for no reason
Go on a shopping spree

I do a couple of things. I would first try listening to relaxation music. Sometimes just going downtown and looking around and perhaps buy myself something nice to wear.

I love the idea of gardening, but I live in a condo so we can't do so. Looking forward to trying once I live in a house.

I'm an indoor gal mostly, so like TRINA, I don't like the bugs and the dirt:-) But the few times we've had flowers, I've enjoyed the peacefulness of watering them and caring for them. I'm not into veggies much (!) so there's not any that I'm likely to grow - dh has grown peppers in a pot a few times, and he enjoys that!

It's a mixed bag. I like the results of gardening, but I loathe bugs and dirt under my fingernails. I'm planning to plant herbs this year because I'm trying to cook healthier and use fewer processed and packaged products, but I haven't got started yet. I could get away with having nothing at all, since I have a very small, concrete patio outside my flat and that's it.

We are going to plant a few things this year like tomatoes. My daughter is 3 1/2 and I want her to learn about growing healthy foods and she loves tomatoes so she will eat the end result.

How do you feel about gardening?

1. It's an enjoyable activity.

2. It's more work than it's worth.

3. It's something I want to try.

My DH love the veggie gardens and I love the flowers. I would love to get into gardening more but we tend to go away a lot in the summer.

No I don't ask for support .... I usually make up my own mind to do what it is that I have to get done. It's ME that has to be happy!!

What type of vegetables do you buy most often?

Fresh

Frozen

Canned

Dried or freeze dried

Juice

We like to buy fresh vegetables. We have on occassions bought the frozen kind. I also like to drink V-8 vegetable juice in the mornings.

What do you think about 10-minute workouts?

They work for me!
I prefer longer workouts
I do them, but only when I'm busy
I've never tried one

I prefer longer workouts because I know I can wear off more calories, get a great workout as well as getting my heart-rate up to where it should be.

Okay, this will probably be a short novel to answer the question (I think I did warn yall I can get chatty:-). My first "eating" baby step is to track - good, bad or ugly. That's where I am. It hold me accountable and also helps me get a baseline. The simple act of tracking also naturally helps me to be more aware and make better choices.

That being said, there will come a time (?) when I will need to determine a calorie range that is appropriate for me. When I do that, I will have to continue to count calories even after reaching goal weight.

I know this from experience:-) Twenty years ago, I was 25 pounds overweight. For someone who was always the skinny girl, this was huge. I learned what calories were, wrote down everything I ate, counted calories, and lost the weight. I guess I then thought I could just do whatever again:-) I stopped writing it down. Big mistake - for me:-) Tracking is something I fight, but it's HUGE for me - it seems to be the cornerstone that helps keep me on track. When I lose this 100+ pounds, tracking and counting calories will be a small price to pay to stay where I want to be - I wish I had done that 20 years ago:-)

{I warned you it would be a novel:-)}
