I have a delightful tiny food processor that holds about two cups when spinning but less than that actual volume. Today mixed broccoli and cabbage with a little pineapple to moisten it added a drizzle o olive oil and stevia and was delicious! Baked chicken breast on the side and delicious iced water with ACV, ginger and tsp of honey in it

I love the thoughts of choosing good foods that are anti-inflammatory instead of the deprived "can't have" list!.

Having fun experimenting with mushrooms slicing, dicing, dipping, freezing, putting in omelets, salads, on invented pizza remembering I am very low carb and gluten free for diabetes and celiac... It is giving variety and I don't get much flavor from them but enjoy the health and variety.

I do not seem very consistent here but will not give up membership in the group because just seeing it daily on my list of teams is an encouragement to continue to use the principles I have learned -
Probably the greatest have been the use of berries almost daily in my eating plan
Second has been the strict use of healthy oils and to not fear the fat content of them!
Third has been almost total elimination of sugar from my food intake.

So I keep learning, keep seeking health and this month entered the GLORIOUS 70th year of my life!!!

invented soup for two days after a tummy flu bug:
Rough chopped celery, radish, carrot, potato, onion 1/4 roasted small turkey breast
Sea salt, dried onion, parsley, Italian spices, turmeric,
Quart of water - brought to boil and then simmered a couple of hours - added more water as desired - I like mine more watery than husband. DELICIOUS!!!

Finding chopped cabbage a very versatile veggie for me - saute it a bit and add to egg scramble in morning; good base for salad for me chop fine, zap in micro about 20 sec to soften it a bit and add finely chopped lean meats or boiled eggs or cooked beans if you allow them in your plan, evening meal a slaw, or add to broth in simple soups or to a wrap in place of lettuce.

Low carb day today - will increase a bit tomorrow-still working alternate up and down calories
600/1200 . Somedays calories are higher on low carb days because I increase the good fats to
prevent carb begging. All these different efforts coming together in one happy eating experience

And New Year's Blessings to you Richard.
Anti-inflammatory food - brought to us as a holiday treat and I wanted to test it - probably too sweet for pre-diabetic but hoping the fat in it was enough to balance out OK and only had half of one - Sweet tamale [homemade by local restaurant owner's wife] - matza, raisens and egg whites and coconut oil cooked in maize leaf but don't know protortions but it is gluten-free and no sugar per se - just the sweet raisins - will see how it affects the blood sugar and if not too much will enjoy the other half tomorrow.

Edit - it was mild, delicious and did not affect blood sugar at 2 hours or FBS the following morning - delicious!!

Richard, thankful you are home and pray that your healing can continue - I like coconut oil for my dry skin - especially with essential oils in it - I use medically approved oils of peppermint, wintergreen, lemon, lavender, lemongrass...oh my don't get me started talking essential oils - I really like them!! But the coconut oil is very pleasant to me even with out the oils. Some object to use of petroleum products but I used to use Vicks vapo-rub a lot. Blessings and please share what is helpful for you.

Home now 3 days after 3 months in hospital. Weight is still going up due to fluid retention emoticon have to make better efforts in sticking to daily fluid allowance. My skin is driving me mad too, as the ointment hasnt been correctly or fully applied, and the skin is like parchment in areas.
I have a busy schedule early next week with followup appointments, the podiatrist and my social group being on the agenda.

cheers richard

Dr Gundry first introduced this drink, so I cant lay claim to it.
however ,i and other friends have tried and like it.
if the soda or sparkling mineral waters are kept refrigerated, it can be very refreshing.
other options we use at home are to have a 50/50 mix of both balsamic and apple cider vinegar to use as dressings, esp. on salad(this can ensure you are getting an added benefit from both ciders.
additional lemon juice can also be added to the drinks or dressings
you can alternate with drinking just a touch of lemon and water
ciders (and lemon juice)can be used in marinades for meat and fish
you can also "cure/pickle" some sorts of raw fish like salmon, for eating, in these acidic liquids.
finally if you keep a large vessel of water or smaller bottles of other liquids in the fridge, then it can be easy to track and make sure you have had ur 8 cups per day.
cheers richard

Thank you for explaining balsamic - I will try to acquire that taste - put it on the shopping list -

The resvertrol comment won me over - since I do not drink any alcoholic beverages, I would like to get it from foods , not supplements.

balsamic has a vastly superior flavor
and whilst apple cider vinegar is based on apple juice
balsamic vinegar is based usually on red grapes which have revaratrol..1 one of the most potent natural antioxidants

I love my berries any way I can get them - and yes, I have added them to waters but need to pair that with a bit of protein for the diabetic balance.

food for the day was not new but happily back to my eggs - I want them EVERY day! - and went two days with none in the house until I went shopping yesterday. Now I feel like I am back to home after our 12 day road trip-vacation.

Spaghetti squash - for breakfast!!! shredded it onto plate, added a little butter and sprinkle of gentle sweet [zylitol blend] with side of ground turkey and home-made cranberry sauce. Delicious breakfast when you have not been to the store since returning from vacation and pulled these items from freezer last night so thawed and ready to heat for morning meal! New anti-inflammatory food is guacamole - so in addition to the avocado, there is a smll amount of spices and other veggies mixed in - not something I will buy often and think I prefer plain avocado with a bit of dash so will stick to basics.

Looking for a new thread to liven up my interaction with this group - enjoyed going back through many comments and thought I would bring this to the front again.
Not really a new food but a new format I bought a bag of frozen mixed berries a while back and brought them up from the deep freeze - divided it into 4 oz serving to enjoy in cottage cheese or my goat yogurt or kefir - I have been enjoying these this summer but our Farmer's market season is concluded so back to store bought things.

So my new anti-inflame food is Mixed frozen berries [mostly raspberries, blueberries and a few cranberries and blackberries.]

The tumeric is working like a charm. DH was away for a weekend and his supplements were damaged, so he had an unanticipated 'trial'. His arthritis flared up and has subsided now that he's taking the tablets again - a true believer...

Sounds like you are on the path to discovering what will and won't work, Is there a substitute for the tomato juice? Perhaps eating a tomato or another vitamin C source?
Good luck!

Kaligirl,
How did you go with ur Tumeric supplements now we are this far down the track.

Having been on the low-Nickel/Alcohol for nearly 2 weeks now it still seems that there is some underlying inflammation with my psoriasis with some persistent areas of red rash on areas of my body and the heavy plaque, crusty areas on my legs havent shifted yet.
This may be due to the tomato juice and mini-aspirin that I have been having.
The tomato juice seems to have been helping with my prostate.
So theres a bit of a dilemma about what to do next.
Cheers

We've found the yellow tomatoes to be less acidic and the fresh ones seem to work for us.

years ago, I didnt like fresh tomato products as they adversely affected me.
However I have never had a problem with processed tomato products such as paste, sauce, soup, chutney and either straight or mixed packaged juice.
I first really started to eat fresh tomato after sharing a hamburger "with the lot" which included both fresh tomato slices and tomato sauce.
Cheers.

I take tumeric in a daily dose multivitamin I take each day. I add fresh garlic and grate fresh ginger into health shakes I have occasionally. (I should make them more often like daily, i just tend to get slack), bromelain found in pineapple is also very good for pain and inflammation.

Another good one is Nuro SAMe as a supplement and Vitamin D with bone builder as it has something in it called "elemental boron" which is excellent for helping with inflammation.

I have switched to Ezekiel 4:9 whole grain bread. I'm not a big bread eater, but I do like a piece of toast with scrambled egg in the morning, and this toasts up nicely. I also like the texture.

Hi there, I'm new here!

I find it trying new things frequently to be motivating and to prevent from dietary boredom. Today I just planted a tiny Gynura procumbens plant, also known as Longevity Spinach. It's supposed to be pretty easy to grow, and incredibly healthy. The plant should take root fairly quickly where I live, and when it does, I will give it my first taste-test. I'm very excited to try it!

It can probably be grown fairly easily in containers for those who would like to try indoors. It is related to Okinawan Spinach, which has a prettier purple color and I already have plenty of experience with - Okinawan Spinach is very easy to grow in containers and you can make new plants simply by cutting a stem and sticking it in moist dirt! It also has lots of very healthy properties.

I'm also awaiting seeds of Longevity Spinach's superfood cousin, Ashi taba, in the mail from Japan.

There is a huge list of easy-to-grow anti-inflammatory plants for container growing, many of which people often think of as weeds and sadly rip out of their yards rather than eat! A few include Plantago major, Purslane, Calendula, Echinacea, Dandelion, etc. There are also many flowers that are edible, if it sounds exciting to make a flower salad!

I also found chayote - another anti-inflammatory food - in a local store, and will be trying that in the next few days. It turns out it's very easy to grow where I live, but sadly you have to plant the entire squash in order to get a vine to grow, and I only bought one! I don't want to plant it without getting the chance to taste it first! So, I will eat the one I bought, and hopefully if I like it, there will still be at least one more left at the store for me to buy just for planting.

It would be cool to have a team goal available where we try 1 new anti-inflammatory food per week, or per month. There are so many things out there I've never heard of, much less actually eaten! You never know what might become your next favorite food...

Anyone else here try a new anti-inflammatory food or medicinal plant lately? Anyone else trying to grow some like I am?

[Wow, that's ridiculous, SP would not let me post this message because it considers the name of a plant, A S H I T A B A, a swear word! The name is all one word, but if I write it out as such, it will not let me post this message. So ignore the space I had to put in the word above for this to post, it should not be there.]
