Happy Friday!! Well, I work this weekend so it's not really like a Friday for me...so many work issues it continues to be frustrating. Having to work short-staffed all the time is aggravating! I love my job, really, I do, but I want to be able to do it properly. When we work short, I always feel like I'm not able to do what I should...

Val, I enjoyed Insurgent. I think the movies just help me to "see" the books a bit more accurately. It gives life to what I read so even if others critique the movie to the nth degree, I just enjoy it for what it is. I'm still reading Allegiant. It take a LOOOONG time to read a book when I only read a few pages at a time before falling asleep every night! lol I'd like to take a month to rest, sit on a beach and read as much as I want because I'm not soooo tired from working late nights and getting up on school mornings! I'm looking forward to the Easter break!! :)

-sparkfully,
Cherie

Hi ladies,

Well all the pre testing went good. Now we just have to wait until Monday. I'm so glad that it's Friday, but I have so much to do this weekend! I just hope I am able to get it all done.

Cherie - happy belated birthday to Jacob! Did you like Insurgent? I read the 1st two books and part of the 3rd one (I think I quit because someone to
D me what happens). It has been a while since I have watched Twilight. Although we started watching BD2 about a month ago, and I could not hold my eyes open! I turned it off and went to bed. Lol.

Fathin - enjoy your trip! Thanks for the well wishes! Last month, we found out that Alan has oral (tongue) cancer. So he is having surgery Monday to remove the tumor.

Mich -glad your mom is back at home. Sending well wishes and continued prayers. OMG! I so totally understand your frustration with clothes. I almost had a meltdown the other down trying to find something besides sweatpants, to wear to the hospital! Everything (normal clothes) is too tight! Ugh! I have enjoyed playing words with friends. And yes technology is amazing!

OK. Well it's almost time for the munchkin, so I had better go for now. Have a wonderful weekend. I will let you all know how things go. Thanks again for the prayers and well wishes. Happy Friday!

Hi Ladies:

Cherie once in a while I listen to the Twilight movie while I'm at work and have a lot of typing to do. Of course I always pause to catch my favorite views of Edward. :)

Mom was discharged from rehab and last night was her first night home. She has peaks and valleys - she'll seem stronger and better and then later doesn't. Home Health started today with a supervisor nurse doing the intake.. Tomorrow her regular nurse comes and then Friday the PT person comes to start physical therapy. I worked from home today and tomorrow but Friday I've got a business lunch that I can't avoid. My son is not going to get enough sleep during the day while I'm gone.

Fathin enjoy your trip and shopping. I saw Divergent but haven't seen Insurgent yet. I didn't read that series. Movies aren't really an option for me right now because I can't leave my mom alone.

Thanks for the Fit Bit challenge - I have already surpassed my mileage goal for the month. Taking it easier today because my knee is hurting. I think putting my mom's wheel chair in and out of the car and then pushing her in that was hard. She weighs about 165 lbs and the wheel chair I'm assuming is over 40. That is a lot of weight for me to manage with a sore knee. In the house she can use her walker but out of the house that isn't an option.

Val and I have been playing words with friends. It's amazing that we can all keep up with different versions of technology all over the world.

Any word on all of Jess' tests?

Cherie, I think that's sum up my close friends, too. We are connected more by technology than in person and interestingly, we talked more with typing than speaking LOL

Today, I'm flying off to another city, maybe I will take nap on flight so that I will be very fresh for my shopping!!! I can't wait to get more books and light colour tops (it's so hot right now and most of my blouses are dark colour, choking me to heat death, haha). Hopefully enough space in my luggage bag :D

I watched Cinderella last Sunday and maybe today I will watch Insurgent. My friend said it was good but the first movie was better.

Hello, my Twilight buddies! It sure has been a long time since I've watched or read any Twilight!! How about you? I've been reading the Divergent series and just went to Insurgent at the theatre last weekend.

I actually have quite a few Sparkpeople friends that have fitbits! I need all the motivation I can get! It is literally feast or famine with me...yesterday was a train wreck but today I'm on track...I seem to always get my step goal done but it is the eating portion of the healthy lifestyle where I tend to flail!!!

Val, I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Hope all is going well.

Fathin, I only have a about 3 close girl friends...and only 1 that lives here where I am! One is a Sparkfriend I went to high school with at a boarding school, and one lives where my middle boy lives, 8 hours away. But with technology today, they are always close. My friend, Charlene, who lives here, is the one who always orchestrates our workouts! But she has never done a Leslie Sansone Walking workout with me!! lol I don't think she understands what a good workout they are. But she is also the one who always tries to give me the baking she has done but doesn't want to eat by herself! lol

Mich, how is your mom doing?

Yesterday my middle boy, Jacob, turned 21!!! OMG that makes me feel old! lol and last night I finally got to talk to him at 10pm....we talked for over 2 hours!!!! lol so with feeling old...I also feel tired!! but had a wonderful visit with him. He is such an amazing young man. So driven! I'm so proud! Ya, I'm definitely having a proud mommy moment. All of my boys are doing so well right now that I can't help but be grateful.

Cherie

Val, I hope everything will go smoothly for the operation. What's the surgery for? (I might have missed that in severals days I was MIA)

Cherie, right now the female close friends that I have can be counted in one hand but I'm fine with that because I think they are as crazy as I am LOL

MichC, that clothes issue is what I always have no matter whether my weight increased or decreased, haha. It's like my torso and chest have different sizes, same things with my waist and thighs.

I think the depression pills make me sleepier and much harder to wake up, haha. And I still haven't try the sleeping pills that the doctor gave me, hehe. I need to start again my jump rope in mornings, I think I've forgotten how to jump!

Last Sunday, hang out with a friend, we had lunch together (yum yum pizza and mango yogurt drink!) than watch "Cinderella". After I watched Amazing Spider-Man #2 with sad ending on Saturday night, I wanted to watch something with happy ending, haha. I think I had heat stroke on that day because I walked outdoor with blazing sunshine and I started to feel terrible headache from nearly the start of my outing, uhuh. Funny thing, whenever I have headache, I will not feel the pain when I'm reading :D

Hi all - mom is being discharged tomorrow. I will be working from home and helping her get settled in.

Cherie and Val - great to have you as friends on FitBit. I have a sedentary job so I got out and walked for almost 20 minutes at lunch so that Cheri doesn't totally demolish me on the challenge this week! Thanks for the extra motivation.

Jess - that is a lot of tests going on for you. My prayers are with you during this challenging time.

Fathin - way to go on Frisbee. My knee has been swollen off and on for a couple of weeks so I would be Frisbee watching instead of Frisbee playing. Glad you are seeing a therapist and I hope the medication helps you.

I had a totally frustrating experience trying to buy new work clothes this weekend. I put on the size I thought I wore and it was way too big so I thought yeah all this walking is paying off! Put on the smaller size and couldn't even zip it. I think I am going to have to go back and get the larger size and have it altered. I have so much trouble buying pants because I'm 5'11'' and overweight. It's either too short, or doesn't fit my pear shape. I did buy a FitBit Charge so I'm excited about that. I've just about hit my target goal of miles for March which was 40. I know I was under tracking since I was just using my phone as a tracker before. Not sure what I will set my goal for in April so that I'm challenged but not crazy.

Mich! It's so nice to see you on fitbit! We will rock the challenge this week! I kinda took the weekend off and didn't track ANYTHING! I also went to the movie and ate popcorn and too many sweets...sooooo this week I will take charge!

Jess, it sounds like you have your plate FULL!! I hope you are getting the answers you need to work it all out! Glad you could find a silver lining and celebrate your hubby's bday and SPRING!! Yay! Well, it came and went...I think we are having a 2nd winter!

Fathin, It is very good that you can talk to the therapist. I can usually talk better with guys too. Especially when I was younger but now I've come to realize I should have nurtured some friendships with girls as you grow older it is so nice to have a female to confide in. Good luck and remember, we are all here for you too!!

Val, I hope you are holding up ok! You have a lot going on too! Goodness this is a challenging year for everyone!! Well, take it one step at a time and get back to us whenever you can!

Work is my challenge...I kept well through the Norwalk outbreak and I am still fine, thank goodness. Just other frustrations, like other workers who constantly call in sick and leave us holding the ball all the time and stressing us out because they don't know how to have good work ethic... that's all the time I have to rant today...but I work this afternoon...lol

Take care everyone!!

-sparkfully,
Cherie

Hello ladies

So sorry to keep disappearing. I keep meaning to stop and check in, and then always seem to get side tracked on something else. Things have been ok. We go tomorrow for pre open testing and an MRI. I have been doing pretty good until this past week. Everything is starting to sink in, and the closer it gets to the date of surgery (next Monday), the more nervous/anxious/scared I get. I am trying to keep it all together for Alan. I don't want him to worry about me, but inside I feel like I'm falling apart.

Jess - good luck with you appointments. Praying for good results.

Mich - I hope that you're mom is doing better.

Fathin - ultimate frisbee sounds fun. I played frisbee last week with one of the munchkins. emoticon

Cherie - how's things you way? Have you seen any signs of Spring or is it still pretty cold/snowy there?

Have a great day.

Jess, I hope it will be good news for your test results or at least, something that still cureable :D And I wish your family will have great birthday celebration!

Hmm, maybe it's because I only have brother and when I grew up, I was sort of like tomboy and when I hit puberty, I became less tomboyish (I think, haha) but I was and still am still surrounded by mostly guys in classes and work (in school and office, guys usually the majority group). Anyhow, guys are much easier to talk to - they are more likely to be straight to the point or at least, not too emotional? LOL

Okay- it's Thursday and what a week it has been. First though-

Mich- glad you are still running! Hope the knee is doing better for you. Hopefully your mom is doing better now. Keeping her in my thoughts.

Val- have not seen you here lately. How are you and how is your husband?

Cheri- hopefully everyone is getting better at work and you are still well.

Fathin- I am glad you're able to speak with a therapist and especially glad to hear your still staying busy and social. Ultimate frisbee sounds fun! I usually do better talking to guys as well. Not really sure why either. Maybe because I have all brothers and no sisters?

Me- long week. Husband is out of the air cast boot and healing well. I saw the rectal surgeon and he said that whatever the issue is I'm having it is not a rectal issue so no surgeries so far though we do not know yet what's causing my problem. My primary md and I both thought it was in part a rectal issue. For that I called the primary.doctor back to see what other tests/ routes we are going to do. So far that includes seeing an Ob/gyn and my urologist. OB appointment is scheduled for Monday.
I did see the urologist this week. Good news- no bladder cancer! However, I did have some blood in my urine so he sent me for some tests to look at my kidneys again- particularly the one that has had a suspicious looking area on X-Rays in the past. They did an IVP with contrast this morning and I am waiting for the results.
Next news- some of my blood work and other urine test results are off. There is anemia and low vitamin D, higher blood sugar levels but not diabetic. Evidence of inflammation and infection is indicated. The other results indicate possible cancer or autoimmune disorder.
Needless to say I am trying to keep an even head, not worry that this is anything too serious, and just doing my best to keep it together so I don't freak out while we go through these exams and tests to see what exactly is going on.
On a happy note, we celebrate my husband's birthday Saturday and Spring is here! We also have been updating our sons room to an older teenagers room. We bought him a new bed and bedset. Then later this spring we will refurbish his dresser and nightstand. He was really excited!
I hope everything is going well for everyone. Enjoy your weekend!

Jess

Hello everyone! I haven't posted anything here lately, my head is keeping me busy, haha.
So, here's my quick update on what was going on with my life:

I had my first session with a therapist, quite a good one as I knew several things about myself that I didn't aware of and I could say anything to a stranger without worrying will get back to my family and friends (well, I do hope it was an unknown doctor to my family and friends, haha). He gave me medicine for my depression (I think the pills made me sleepy but maybe it was my own tired body that make me sleepy?) and he also gave me sleeping pills because I said I had trouble with my sleep (I told him that I always have lots of things running through my mind and I keep getting weird dreams that made me more tired when I wake up instead of rested). I told few people about meeting the therapist - one of my friends, I think I can consider him as my close friend, told me that I could call him anytime whenever I want to talk. I feel so touched of his offer - I wonder why I'm always can talk easily with guys than girls, hmm.

I still play Ultimate Frisbee every week and maybe next week, I will join my colleague who did interval training in group (sprint-jog-sprint-REPEAT, uhuh, scary!). There's a grassy field, a site where there was once an old office building and as it's part of our office ground, it's so close to work to play Frisbee :D

Oh, and recently, I finished True Blood Season 6 DVDs. I think my mood is still affected by the death of a favourite character - it was one of the season's villains but I was rooting on him to survive but apparently, the creators of the series had different ideas. I had few times feeling like this, when a fiction character that I like die, whether in books or in graphic(movies, tv series, anime/manga).

Tuesday - Happy St. Paddy's day - mom is not doing too good at rehab last night and this morning. Feeling a little bit down about that. The swelling in my knee is down some today. Trying to get in 1.5 miles worth of steps so I can stay on track with my mileage goal for the month.

How is everybody?

Jess - it's Monday so let me know how your doctor visit went!

My mom is progressing in rehab. I did the dash down greenville on Saturday and in addition to the 5k managed to get my total steps for the day over 5 miles. Woke up Sunday with a huge knot on my left knee. I've got it elevated and have an ice pack on it here at work today.

I saw some pics that Fathin posted on FB over the weekend. How is everybody else doing?

Mich- I hope your mom is doing well. Proud of you for getting a workout in!

Monday is my day to see my urologist and the surgeon. Hoping all goes well. Husband also sees ortho for his leg to see how it is doing. My son joined the track team for long jump, high jump and triple jump. Watching him helps me stay motivated towards my goals.

Hoping all of you are well. Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies -

Unplanned turn of events. My mom fell yesterday at home and ended up with 5 stitches above her eye and 2 screws in her fractured hip. I've been at the hospital since then except for a quick trip home to shower and get more clothes. She is doing well and will probably transfer on Wednesday or Thursday to a rehabilitation hospital for at least a week stay.

I managed to get in my minimum amount of steps in order to reach my month end goal of 40 miles tracked. I also did a 10 minute spark people video in the room and earlier did 6 mins of low impact workout on my own. Trying not to just sit here and veg out. Tomorrow I have to go to work. She will have a full day of doctor's, nurses, therapists, etc to keep her busy while I'm gone. I'll spend the night with her again.

I'm eating pretty well with the options here at the hospital. Hope you are all doing well.

Hi Ladies -

Val excellent news! Quick surgery and put this in the past!

Jess - prayers for your well being! Keep us posted.

Cheri - impressed with the number of steps you are getting. I'm just trying to track 10 miles a week this month. I have the Dash Down Greenville 5k next weekend. We picked out April run and its a glow in the dark Zombie Run. Looks like fun!

I did do upper body PIYO once this week, I have done my 10 sit ups a day all but one day, have done foam roller twice and got in my steps. Feeling good about building slowly back up to where I was. Working on my grocery list for Sunday cooking. That is really helping me stay on track during the week.

Goal this week - improve my night time eating.

Jess, I wish you luck with all the tests and surgery! Sending hugs and prayers to keep you strong!

Val, so happy you have some positive news! Sending you good vibes, too!

Mich, we are all there with you! Those goals are not the easiest to reach these days!!

I am hoping the quarantine has been lifted at work. I work this afternoon so I will find out but we don't want a rush of visitors or we could end up right back where we were before. I'm glad I stayed healthy throughout the whole thing and I believe getting my 10000 steps a day has helped to boost my immune system.

I think Fathin is taking a bit of a break!!! Don't forget to come back to us!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Val- I am glad that the cancer hasn't spread. I will continue to keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers.

Mich- I am there with you when I think about how far I have to go to reach my goals . I have to remember small goals and steps along the way.

Cheri- hopefully you are still well and going strong!

Fathin where are you?!

Me-I have something painful to admit.I went to the Dr and I learned I had gained weight- though my clothes all still fit. I have gained 25 lbs and now weigh in at 300lbs. I have never been this big in my lifetime. Guess I have a lot of work to do. I also learned that I need to have surgery. I go to the surgeon on the 16th to see what I will need done. The thing that scared me was when the Dr expressed concern that the problem is near to where I have had cancer in the past. I am trying to be positive but right now my imagination is running wild and my own worst enemy. I do also follow-up with the urologist that treated my previous cancer on that same day. I don't believe that there is a problem of that nature but my mind just won't let me relax until I have more information. Meanwhile we wait for the results of my blood work and urine test from the primary Dr. Just got to stay strong and positive here!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Jess

Hi ladies,

Well I'm happy to say that everything went well yesterday with the pet scan. The cancer has not spread anywhere else! Whew! They have scheduled surgery for the 30th. and have to go for pre op testing the 19. We are continuing to remain positive, and the doctor is very optimistic that we can beat this! Thanks so much for the prayers and support. We greatly appreciate them!

Hope you all are doing well and having a great week!

Hi Ladies - Happy start to the week! I spent most of the weekend indoors with my mom = still ice on the ground for us. We shut our office at noon on Friday so everyone could drive home since it was snowing. Texans - can't handle the bad road weather.

I packed my food for today and I'm drinking my water. Everyday I have to get off the elevator at work and walk past a window. I look at how far I have to go to get to the shape I want and it's distressing. I thought I would share that with you all because I just had to get that out. Tonight I'm going to do PiYo - I haven't done it in a long time. I plan on having my 1.5 miles of walking done before I get home so I can do something different exercise wise besides just walk.

Val -- prayers you way - we always find out the hard way that feeding those emotions doesn't really help. I will lift you up daily so you can stay strong for your husband.

Cheri - Most of my clients are nursing facilities that do long term care. Glad you are staying healthy.

Let's do this!

Hello ladies,

Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers. We greatly appreciate them. 1st appointment went well. GREAT doctor. They did a biopsy, which did confirm the diagnosis. We go Wednesday for a pet scan. Praying for good results there.

My fitness minutes really slacked off this past week. My eating has been all over the place. One day good, next day terrible. One of my goals right now is to get through all of this without feeding my emotions!

Cherie - My son bought me a fitbit flex for my birthday (2/26). I am still learning how to figure things out with it. I can't wait for this snow to melt so I can get out and walk.

Mich - great job on getting in those fitness minutes.

Jess - I understand how tough it can be to try to eat healthy and stay in budget. It's tough, but try to plan it out the best you can.

Have a great day ladies. Will stop by soon.

Mich, I like your motivation! Collect those badges! Yay! I use my fitbit and I keep my goal at 10000 steps a day. I love the challenges I can do with my fitbit buddies. It keeps me going as I do have a bit of a competitive streak in me.

Val, how's it going? Keep your chin up. We are here for you!

Jess, yes, eating healthy on a budget is possible. It just takes a bit of planning. You can do it. I saw a saying somewhere that said what we eat is either food to fight disease or food to feed disease, it kinda opened my eyes to making good food choices.

Fathin? I haven't seen you in a while!!! Where are you? What have you been up to?

I have stayed healthy despite the Norwalk outbreak at my LTC facility. So far, so good! It is still running wild and there are still new cases occurring! I sure hope this goes away soon! We have been in a quarantine situation since Feb 16th. ugh...

Prayers for you and your husband Val! Sorry to hear about the diagnosis.

Cheri - glad you are still healthy. I've never heard of time blind so I don't know what that means.

Jess eating on a budget - you can do it!

I met my walking goal for the month - some jogging in there but mostly walking. I just ordered my March medal I have to earn and I set a goal to track 40 miles in steps over the course of the month. I started with 25 in January, and then went to 30 in February. This has really been helping me get off my butt. I want that medal and don't want to waste my $15 that I spent on it. What motivates you?

Val - hugs and prayers to you anymore. I hope the prognosis is good. Stay strong and know we are here for you.

Cheri- I hope you are still well.

We had karate tonight. Money is tight here. Been trying to still eat healthy but...

More cold and nasty weather this weekend. Can't wait for Spring!

Oh Val! I'm sending hugs and prayers your way for you and your family! I wish you strength! What is the next step for you and your husband? Just don't forget to look after yourself too.

So I still haven't gotten the stomach flu that is running wild at my workplace. I worked my shifts on Mon and Tues but then ended up working last night as well. I think I will need to recharge before doing another shift. So I got off work at 7am and my husband had to leave to go away to work before 8am! Now, he doesn't exactly understand what I need him to do in situations like this where my son, yes he is 16, but he is time blind, and needs a lot of direction...so when I got home I am guessing that my son did not get to sleep til VERY late...sigh...it's gonna be a long day...I sure hope he has no problems at school today...

Cherie

Hi ladies,

Wow, it seems like every time I get a chance to catch my breath something else comes along to knock me down...

As if I wasn't having enough trouble getting back on track, back to my normal workout routine/habits we found out this past Sunday.that my hubby has oral cancer of the tongue, and is also in his lymph nodes.. Based on ER papers and symptoms/risk factors we're guessing that it's between stage 3 and 4. We should know more after he sees the specialist Thursday.

I feel like I have been punched in the stomach and can't breathe. I'm terrified, but I have to put on the strong face and be brave.for him. I have to stay positive!

I would like to ask you all a favor to just keep my family in your prayers as I'm sure that we will need all the prayers we can get. Thanks ladies. I will keep you updated.

We have a norovirus outbreak (the stomach flu) at my work...Of course with the outbreak in progress, and staff coming down with it, too...no nurses seem to be available...those who got the bug have to stay away for at least 48 hours from the last symptom, since I really haven't had it yet, I feel compelled to help. They were looking to fill an evening shift and a night shift. I just knew if I went to do the evening shift, they would make me do a double...so I called in to talk to them to see what could be done. So they hired a temp for the evening shift already so they asked me to fill the night...so here I go, back into the war zone. I guess all I can do is hope that I don't get sick before I work my shifts on Monday and Tuesday... ugh...

How is everyone doing?

Thursday - having a pretty good week so far. Yesterday I finally made it for tracking my food all day and going to the gym. I have been struggling at night - so I pack healthy food for breakfast, snacks, and lunch and then when I go home at night I don't stay on track.

Fortunately for me one of my accountability partners texted me while I was at the gym and I made a commitment to stay on track for the whole evening. That really helped me.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Keep on sparking!

sorry to hear about the tough weekend - shoveling snow :( I'm glad to be back in Texas and not living in Massachusetts! The town I used to live in was on the national news because of their snow.

I have had a rough month or so physically. When my mom was in the hospital I slept on a bad recliner in her room for six nights. Take that stress and then add moving our to our new corporate office while sick with a bad cold/possible flu so I never took time off. Yesterday my back was hurting so bad I could barely walk and today I have close to a migraine at the office. I need some time off and some non-stress days!

It was a brutal weekend of work for me and we had a nasty winter storm on Saturday so Sunday I had to shovel snow...before going to work...ugh...So today was a provincial holiday and Ben doesn't have school all week for the mid winter break. I'm tired. I hope I find a few extra hours of down time this week...

Not much time to post at work tonight. Been extra busy trying to pick up the slack for husband while he copes with his broken leg. Son has also been sick this week. I work through the weekend- 12 hour shifts accept for tonight. Still trying to learn how to get fitness in and still have a good night sleep between the twelve hour shifts. By the time I get to sleep in the mornings I usually only have enough time to get ready and eat that evening before I head back to work. If I workout after work I will never fall asleep.

I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great weekend!

Hello everyone

Sorry it's been afew days since checking in. I had a rough week and then a busy weekend. My son Brandon (20) got his first car over the weekend. He dropped e to work today for the first time! Talk about nervous! WOW! He made it safely there though. So I can relax until it's time for him to come home. Haha.
Saturday, Bailey had her Military Ball. So we spent the majority of the day doing hair, makeup, and nails. It was also her last one since she's a senior. I can not believe that my baby will be graduating in a little over 3 months!! Where does the time go?

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday!

Wow! Time flies!! It's already Wednesday! So glad I shoveled the snow off the sidewalk and driveway yesterday when it was slightly warmer than the -34C that it is today...yuck! I would just love to hibernate! But, so much to do...and not much sleep last night. Oh boy...

Fathin, hope you are feeling better!

Michelene, way to go doing the hot chocolate run! Mmmm...hot chocolate! What a great idea!! lol

Hi Ladies - trying to get in the habit of posting here. Sorry for missing a while. I had fun at the Hot Chocolate 5k this weekend. It kind of back tracked me on getting over my cold but it's Wednesday now and I do feel much better. I'm doing well prepping food on Sunday and taking my meals to the office. Today I have a friend coming over for lunch and we are going to go on a walk after we eat. Nice way to chat and get in a few fitness minutes.
I'm packing tonight - driving from Dallas to Houston tomorrow and then back on Saturday. I'm staying at a friend's house instead of a hotel and know already there is a gym 10 minutes from where the apartment is...packing my gym bag.
We registered for the Dash Down Greenville on March 14th. Staying on track with doing at least one event or challenge goal per month.

Feel better Fathin.

Busy working tonight. Tomorrow will be rough on my sleep and eating habits. I work until 8am then have to do volunteer work with the scouts by 10:15am. That will be until at least 3pm. Then I have to be back to work by 8pm. Somewhere in between I have to sleep, eat and shower. I had forgotten the scout commitment when I accepted the weekend shifts. I will have to tough it out somehow.

Hoping everyone is having a good weekend.

Weekend with sickness *cough, sniff
When I woke up this morning, I didn't want to leave my nice bedroom, my voice was similar like a toad, I felt hot and cold at same time. So, off went to see the doctor and spend almost whole afternoon napping LOL

It's Friday!!!! OH THANK GOODNESS!!! Of course, I work this evening and tomorrow evening but I do get to sleep in tomorrow so that is what I'm looking forward to. I'm soooo not a morning person and then working evenings and having to get up early to get Ben off to school wears on my by the end of the week. I started my month off great! I got my workouts in AND I was making good food choices AND tracking it!!! Yay me!! but last night I got an invitation to go for coffee and ended up having a muffin with my decaf and then came home and kept snacking...ugh...so today, I'm back on track...

Val and Jess, I don't let motivation get me going. I get going THEN the motivation comes. I just make myself move, just like I would make my kids get on with homework...it's gotta be done and just don't think about it, just start. Tracking the food is much harder for me.

Fathin, I hope things get easier for you with your dad.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Cherie

Val-I am still having the same problem with motivation. Karate is not even interesting me lately. I just got to get myself back on track.

Mich- enjoy the new office! Happy birthday to your daughter.

Cheri- I know what you mean about the full moon. I have seen some strange stuff working those nights.

Fathin- I wish I could give you some better advice. I had struggles with my dad and I finally had to go live my own life and just be myself. I did my best to be respectful to my family's wishes but I just had to allow myself to be happy.

I finally have the car fixed! Working five days in a row here. Trying to be motivated to exercise and watch the calories. Things are a little hectic here with my husband being hurt. I am no longer sick but my left ear is clogged and highly annoying.

Have a great day!

Jess

Hi ladies,

Feeling kinda blah today. I had a good week last week, and this week has been the complete opposite. My energy and motivation seems to have disappeared yet again. I really wish it didn't have to be so difficult. Thinking back to when I first started with sparkpeople, it seemed much easier to lose weight then than it does now. No matter what I do I can't seem to stay focused and on track...

Fathinsn- I'm sorry things are difficult for you and your father. Hopefully he can some day understand your wanting to go out and be social and make friends. I know that some people who are set with certain beliefs can be difficult to persuade to see things another way. Good luck.

Cherie, the religious part, I think that my dad is worried if I drink alcohol (which I've never done except probably in cough medicine administered by doctors) or end up doing sex outside marriage or get in a compromising situation. We have religious police in our country where they catch people who either in the "dry" (couple who stay at isolated place like hotel room, bushes, etc) or "wet" (couples who are caught in act). The old-traditional way, girls are expected not to go out much, hang around outside their home and the only social place they are allow to go are in family or neighbour events like wedding, celebrating birth of baby, etc. I don't know what is his reaction will be if I told him I don't play football but I play sport frisbee AND there are boys. But frisbee games are mostly no touching among players, a friendly game :D Now, I'm not sure if I should continue playing in secret and secretly happy communicate with people outside work and get active OR I should just stop playing which I will feel miserable for days, uhuh.

It's really hard to know what to make my dad happy with me. It will be easier to make list of things he's unhappy with me, haha.

I can't say how happy I am to see soooo many of you back here!!! Jess, Val, Mich, and of course Fathin! It's so great to see you all!

Fathin, I feel sad for you and the disconnection between you and your dad. I understand how that must hurt you that your dad doesn't understand your need to socialize and be active at the same time! I honestly don't understand how this would be against your religion? I understand your need to exert your energy and be with others. I don't know if your dad will see your side but I think as long as you are not being immoral or doing anything illegal, just be the best person you can be, you are doing what you need to. I see that our parents come from older tradition and don't understand the changes in our world. Maybe someday he will understand... keep your chin up!

Michelene! Wow, I've missed you! What have you been up to? Happy Birthday to your girl! They grow up sooo fast, don't they!!! I know my middle boy will turn 21 in March and it is hard to believe how time flies!!

Val, way to go getting your workout in so early! I will do mine right away too so that I have time to go get groceries before I go to work this afternoon. Today is 10% Tuesday so it is the best way to stretch my bucks. I feel in control of my eating so far this month...lol, I know it's only the 3rd but it is amazing how just a little self control can show up on the scale!! Amazing! It feels good to make the right choices.

Jess, how's it going with exercise? Just take a few small steps and see that once you are in motion, it is much easier to stay in motion. Our bodies are meant to be active, not idle..."move that body for a better body" a quote from Leslie Sansone on one of her walking DVD's. She motivates me and my fitbit does, too. Good luck!

Ugh...it is a full moon....why oh why do I always work on full moons!!! lol Well, I guess we'll see how it goes...

Have a great day everyone!!

-sparkfully,
Cherie

Past few days, I was (and still am) filled with burst of energy! Did workout of kettlebell swings and jump rope (part of challenge from a facebook group). And so, so hungry! This weird thing always happened when I recovered from sickness or two weeks before my period, hehe.

And the bad news: my dad saw my football shoes (when I said football, in US, it's soccer, hehe) and according to my mom, he was furious! Apparently, he didn't like I joined sport activities as part of my social activities, said that if I want to interact with others socially, there's limit. Uhuh, what's so bad about joining sport activities? And if he thought I joined football, I'm actually play frisbee game on grass field (which is why I need the football shoes, shoes with studs/spikes). Yeah, my parents are a mix of conservative and religious but I find that being with others at around my age help me dealing with my inner demons. I'm ok with joining the religious events that they insist me to go but I feel weird to check out on available guys at religious setting, haha.

If I don't try to interact with people outside work and in real world, not online, I always end up shutting myself in my bedroom, interact with people I read in fictions! And that also caused my dad to be furious, too, uhuh. Part of me still want to be daddy's little girl but part of me, hate that he really strict on me as if I'm still a teenager, not an adult and because of a trust issue I had with my dad (something he did in the past), I always feel that I need to do everything against his wishes then I feel mad with guilt.

Trying to talk with my dad about this? I think I have better luck to get my cats talk back to me, haha. I have lots of similarity with my dad so maybe that's why it's hard to talk with him? We always exchange few words.
