It's good to see you back. I am sorry to hear that you and hubby have no job.
I often wonder how everyone is making ends meet over there. I was thinking of
retiring there and living on my Australian pension, but now I have to rethink it.
Things are getting tight here too. We have a new State Government and our
Premier said Queensland was broke and he has gone in with an axe and has
fired 25,000 public servants. It is expensive. I am 66 and still have to work.
Most of my pension goes on rent. $340 a week and I have about $200 a fortnight
to live on. Even people who have their own houses are finding it hard as the
insurance, and the land rates, public transport, electricity and phone bills have
gone up but not the wages. Food prices have gone up. We don't have a lot of
coupons here, but I go and buy stuff that has been marked down. I shop at 2nd
hand shops for clothes and haven't had anything new for years. Afta apo the
supposed land of opportunity. things are tough everywhere unless you have loads
of money. Pensioners here are finding it extremely hard. I still have my boy at
University and so have to keep working until he finishes. University is not free here.
The text books cost a fortune. I'm not complaining. As long as I have my health,
I can survive. I am overweight but have started getting motivated again and have
lost 3 kg in 4 weeks. I've cut out sugar and pasta and rice.
Take care Magdalini. Kourageio. emoticon
