Yeah I think the issue is that all the calories from Fitbit get added as if it's all exercise, which it isn't. Fitbit includes your BMR and daily activity in that number. Personally I feel Fitbit is more accurate, because SP is just guessing whereas Fitbit has data to go on. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the info. I feel fine except my weight has stayed the same for three weeks now. I am planning to go back to my old goal and ignore the starving messages.
I used to rely on SP advice but now I wonder who to trust. It can't be news to them that the Fitbit connection is a problem but I searched in vain for any sort of solution on the site.

Time to start again!

Fitbit and SP don't really play well together with that in my experience. I disconnected my Fitbit because it gave me way too many calories when linked. Instead, I look at what Fitbit says I burn in a day and subtract 500-1000. Hopefully that jives with what SP gives you...if not you can adjust it manually.

I manually add my strength training sessions. I have a Charge 2 and when I open the ap on my phone, down where it says the number of days exercise for the week, click on the plus and it gives you the option to log other exercise.

I log my food on the SP tracker. How are you feeling? Do you feel like you’re not eating enough?

Hope someone has more info for you.

How do I know if I am starving? I came back to Sparkpeople in Jan,(after a prolonged absence) and was on track with my weightloss. I was eating at the top of my calorie range most days but was doing well at improving my fat/protein/carb ratios, so my cravings were minimal and I was not hungry all the time. I was happy with my 1-2 pound weight loss each week,
Then I was given a Fitbit and linked it to my SP tracker.
After a few days I started getting reminders that exercising above my goals would put my body in starvation mode if I didn't reset my ranges. Frankly, any change in my exercise was minimal. I work out 5 or 6 days a week and do 35 min of cardio. I was trying to bump up my strength training to 2 or 3 days a week but was having trouble fitting it in. All the Fitbit did was give me credit for every step I took instead of just the gym workouts (which is what I tracked and based my goals on). Since I couldn't figure out what to do about that, I estimated my new weekly calorie burn and reset my goals. It raised my calorie ranges by 250 or so and I just decided to go with it for a week or two and see what happens.
It's too early to say for sure but I think I may be eating at a maintenance level because so far I have not lost any weight. The first weigh in after the fitbit, I lost 2 pounds. Week 2 I had gained a half pound. Tomorrow is my official weigh in so I took a peek today and I was exactly the same,
So tell me, is it because my body is starving or because I am eating too much to lose weight? Can I trust the numbers the Fitbit gives me as far as how many calories I burn in a day? How do I get that to jive with what SP tells me?

Time to start again!
