how do you set the sensitivity level to normal on the fitbit flex. I looked in the settings but did not see it. BTW I love my flex. especially the sleep monitor. I also did not do it right in the beginning but you have to learn all the ins and outs and then it will be more beneficial to you.

after about ten days with a flex I upgraded to Charger HR. Motivated by growing weary of digging to find my phone to learn the time, I like that option and find the heart rate monitor gives me a far more accurate idea of just exactly how much cardio I am getting vs a hR in the fat burning zone. This also makes calorie counts more accurate. I am endeared! And it helps motivate my every move. I have lost 12 lbs since the new year! Yeah!

I read through the replies and found the answers to many of my questions. Unlike some of you guys, I love my flex. I love the fact that it only tracks active and moderately active minutes. I've been using it for 11 days and it has motivated me greatly!
Like any new device we are getting, bear in mind that you need time to understand how it works. The first night I got 'zero' sleep because I did not tap it right. I thought I did, but apparently I didn't. Also, for those who want to have more 'accurate' tracking, make your FB sensitivity tracking to 'normal' instead of 'sensitive'. That way, I believe, you won't pick up any irrelevant activity.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

I noticed that too - but it is easy enough to delete the food changes on fibit. no big deal.

My Fitbit seems to automatically sync food I Iog in SP, which is fine unless I change something, and Fitbit does not reflect the change, it keeps the original and the change which makes my calories in wrong. Does anyone else see this or know how to edit the Fitbit food log.

I've looked through a few posts and it seems like the Food sync disappeared…if you find anything out on this, pleased let me know as I can only get Fitbit to send my steps to SP and no other information syncs.

How many calories you should eat in a day is usually based on caloric output, but they all differ slightly. I like using the Fitbit amount because it has a history of my calories based on the pace and amount of walking/running I'm doing, whereas SparkPeople is slightly estimated (30 minutes of walking approx. 4mph vs. Fitbit tracking it)...

My fitbit and sparkpeople give me different amounts of calories I should eat a day. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I make them equal?

I sent Spark an email with the problem and what I've tried. Within the hour, they replied and asked me to try logging again. It worked! All is fixed. I am so impressed with their speedy and effective response. Renews my faith for sure. Thanks for being part of this remedy.

The number of steps show up on my Spark page so that's great. However - when I logged my food on Spark, it use to sync and show on my Fitbit Dashboard as well. It no longer does. I tried disconnecting Fitbit and restarting - no avail. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

Hi - Do your Fitbit steps show up in your SparkPeople activity feed or do they only appear in the separate Fitbit tracker section? My steps only show in my Fitbit tracker section (which is alright), but I am not sure if that is how it should be. Thanks! emoticon

Hey just wanted to say thanks for all the discussion (further down) on the lovely "All Day Activity" auto track thing that FB does. I have been using a Spark People Activity Tracker and have really enjoyed it but I now also have the FB Charge HR and I am getting the All Day Activity. Now, I've figured out how to go in and delete that entry so it does not adjust my calorie allowance based on the addition of those calories. YAY!!!

Lovin' it!!

In response to your first question, yes if you add exercises on your SP Fitness Page you will double counting your "fitness" minutes. I can understand the need to log your exercise activities so you have several options to do so. You can create "0" minute/calorie activities on your SP Fitness Page (use the GROUP tab to do so) or you can list your scheduled physical activities in the DAILY NOTE section of your Fitness Page.

Hello,

So I have a question. I am sure someone already must have asked it but I just can't seem to find the answer. Lets say I exercise on a treadmill or elliptical and want to track that exercise minutes. wouldn't it be doubling up the exercise steps and calories.

will adding the exercise show up on spark people exercise menu as well automatically or would I need to enter it manually and if I do then it would double up the time and calories burnt. Do I then deduct it from my total?? because I already have fitbit all day activity synced automatically.

So basically I wanted to have my exercise minutes added besides my regular daily steps but do not want to double up my exercise time or steps or calories.

Why I ask is because I work a pretty active job which I have to walk around a lot but they are not active steps. I could have 10,000 steps in a day with less than 5 from active minutes. I want to be able to see how many days I exercised.

I hope I am clear in what I am asking. I would appreciate any help here.

thanks

Hello Pat. I was thinking I had to hit sync too, but when I looked at my information, my food and activity was there. I was trying to figure out about the food because I did not want to do it twice. When I looked on my phone app for the fitbit, it was there too. Load off my mind.

I figured out how to sync food. You need to set your foods to anyone in the privacy setting on fitbit. I don't know the answer to the calorie difference. I'll let you know if I figure that out.

Hello. I'm curious about that answer as well. In addition, My flex shows less calories burned than SP. How do you adjust the difference. My issue is that SP has more calories burned from exercise than the flex. Example: I did a Walk away the pounds 5 mile video at 70 mintues; On SP,it estimates 700 calories and on flex it says 472. How do we accommodate the correct calorie indicator? Does the flex base it on weight and height?

I know when I add food on Spark People it syncs to the Fitbit app. But does the reverse work? I scanned a barcode via my Fitbit app, but don't see it on my Nutrition tab. Also I don't see a button to sync them.

As long as you do not add any fitness activities to your SP Fitness page then the calories burned will adjust to accommodate the syncing with your FB.

I was just wondering how the fitbit being linked affects how calories are tracked. Has anyone noticed anything that may negatively impact weight lose. I have a flex and was wondering a few things. SP shows that I normally burn around 2000 calories per day but if I sync my flex will the calories tracked with it overestimate the calories I need to intake, or would it adjust to sorry of work together and give a more accurate reading? emoticon any info would help. I have managed to lose 85 pounds and really don't want to gain any back. I am stuck on a plateau and was hoping using the flex would help get over it.

Surshine, your fitbit should sync with your phone if you put the app on your phone. Then it will sync with your sparkspage.

I don't understand why the sleep tracking worked the night before last and not last night, nor how or why it randomly syncs when it wants to, and not when it doesn't. Yesterday my fitbit and ipad seemed to match up fairly well, but my laptop stopped syncing at 2:30 pm for some reason. I have no clue how any of this works.

OK, so I'm not the only one getting 0 minutes on Spark when I sync, even though FitBit is full of steps?

Hope they fix it soon! I tried disconnecting and re-connecting the FitBit/SP sites but no dice...

I received a Zip for Christmas. Since I use my Garmin watch to track runs and workouts, I only wanted the very basic model to track my general daily activity minus those specific activities. I have found Garmin and Spark to be very similar in calorie burn calculations when I manually enter my activity on Spark and don't want to lose this accuracy. However, I'd like to sync the food I log in Spark to the Fitbit site. Is it possible to sync only specific areas?

Fitbit is working fine but Spark is not syncing with fitbit yesterday or today.

I love that fitbit syncs with sparkpeople. it is great that I can track on SP and it automatically syncs to fitbit, saves me the trouble but keeps all my stats together.

Hi! I used the SPAT for two years, very easy & valuable. This summer I was in Peru & walking/hiking frequently--no way for SPAT to sync. emoticon Also, w/ battery ⅓ % it wouldn't upload or took forever plus changing battery is a pain +cost.
So, I purchased FB One.
I like that it is rechargeable & records all day. I get credit for stairs. iPhone app syncs weight, BF %, steps no matter where I am. SP is best for food tracking & syncs to FB for some interesting analysis. Sleep time syncs to SP 8 hr goal.
Spark People is my favorite of the two for its vast resources & longevity (11/2008 my start date).
Thanks for info. Still exploring how Activities sync.
PS don't really need to calc for stride--ave for height works is automatic.

If you are persistent, you'll get it.

If you are consistent, you'll keep it...

I am not planning on linking them. i have only had it for 4 days and i am still figuring out how to configure it correctly. i still ned to calibrate it for me stride. but i do enjoy checking it to see what i am getting for steps.

Thank you for the information everyone! I'm loving my fitbit flex! I've learned how much my desk job affects my activity....rather shocking! I also have a 2 hour commute every day, BUT I get home, and start working out...whether it's walking, dancing, Wii. Love seeing how much sleep I'm getting too.

I manually enter all my fitness into SP rather than syncing the fitbit. I haven't tried syncing the food tracking b/c I don't track my food (I know I should but it's too time consuming since I have to enter every recipe into SP first and then track and I just don't have the time to do that every day.)

Exercise is my Prozac.
