WORDS OF WISDOM: TODAY’S THOUGHT!
8/12 Tue
Everyone who heard this parable could immediately relate to what Jesus was teaching. They had all seen a farmer walk into his field and begin to sow seed into that field. They had all seen the crops spring up and begin to grow. Jesus used this common scene to teach a deep spiritual truth. He tells us that the “sower” is one who sows the “word of God”. It might be the Spirit of God, a preacher, a teacher, a missionary, a Gospel song, a Gospel tract, a one on one witness, etc. The “seed” is the Gospel of grace. It is the good news that Jesus came into this world, died for sinners, rose again from the dead and offers full and free salvation to everyone who will receive Him into their heart and life. In this parable, some of the “seed” produces fruit and some does not. The problem does not lie in the “seed”. All the seed used was good “seed”. Each kernel held the potential to produce fruit. The problem was not the “seed”; the problem was the “soil”. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

The Unpardonable Sin! Don’t let the devil, some preacher or some Christian scare you with this accusation; although it is possible to commit this sin today. If you are concerned about the condition of your soul, you cannot commit the unpardonable sin, because the Lord is still speaking to your heart! However, there is a sense in which a person can commit this unpardonable sin. You see, even though Jesus is not in this world physically, the Holy Spirit is, and is still testifying of Him; so, the Spirit of God beings conviction on the heart of the lost person. When the Spirit of God does this, He is calling the sinner to come to Jesus. If the sinner comes, repenting of his sins and believing and obeying in Jesus, that sinner will be forgiven and saved. However, if that sinner turns a deaf ear to the call of the Spirit and harden his heart against the will of God, that sinner will continue on his way to Hell. God only speaks through His Spirit! If you reject His call, the Spirit of God may call again or He may not. If He does, it is pure grace. If He does not, it was just grace that caused Him to call the first time anyway. The only unforgivable sin in this day is saying “no” to the call of the Holy Spirit for the last time. Let me say that again: The only unforgivable sin in this day is saying “no” to the call of the Holy Spirit for the last time. When He comes calling and you say no for the last time, He will abandon you to your choice and He will allow you to go to Hell! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

A kingdom in division is a kingdom that cannot stand. When there is civil war and strife within a kingdom, the stability of that kingdom is compromised and that kingdom is more likely to fall. For a kingdom to be strong it must be united. Satan is out to win the battle between himself and the Lord. He is not going to do anything to weaken himself in that fight. For him to cast out his own demons would be counterproductive. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

WORDS OF WISDOM: TODAY’S THOUGHT!
8/9 Sat
These men consider the words and works of the Lord and they say “He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils casteth He out devils.” They attribute the miracles of the Lord Jesus to the power of the devil. Beyond that, they accuse Jesus of working under the influence of “Beelzebub”. The name literally means “The Lord of Flies or The Lord of Filth.” Beelzebub was a loathsome, wicked demon associated with all things dirty and filthy. It was a cruel, heartless attack. Why would they say something so foolish and so cruel? If they acknowledge that Jesus is working His miracles in the power of God, then they will be obligated to follow Him too. If they acknowledge that Jesus is working His miracles in the power of God, they will have to admit that their old system of believe is dead and is being replaced. If they acknowledge Jesus and what He is doing, they are out of business and they know it! They will have to change and that is not about to happen. So, they attack Jesus and accuse Him of being in league with the devil. If this charge sticks, they can undermine His ministry with the people and draw away His crowds. It is easy to attack people you don’t agree with. You don’t need facts; just make a few wild accusations and people who are not spiritual will take the bait. When that takes place a life, a reputation, a family, or a ministry can be destroyed. Beware that you are not in the business of attacking others. When you do, you are truly doing the work of the devil! He is a destroyer, and he loves to enlist others in the destruction business! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

WORDS OF WISDOM: TODAY’S THOUGHT!

It amazes me that there are people in our world who think just like the Lord’s family. For instance, a family has a son or daughter and that young person is starting to spread their wings a little. They are going out and doing things they were taught not to do. Often, the parents will say, “Oh, they’re just sowing their wild oats. They’ll settle down in a little while.” You take that same young person and you let them get saved. They start living for the Lord and doing crazy things like going to church three times a week, praying, reading their Bible, paying their tithes, living clean, dressing right and acting like a Christian. Those same parents, who excused the sin in their child’s life they cannot cope with, are themselves being sold out for the Lord. They will say things like, “That Jesus stuff has gone to their heads! The have become a fanatic! That religion has made them crazy! Those people over at that church have brainwashed my child. I just don’t understand why he has to live like he does. I worry about him so much.” You would almost think they would rather their child live for the devil! Of course, as long as their child is living worse than they do, they don’t feel condemned for their own hellish lifestyle. But, you let their child start living a clean, holy life and that ungodly parent becomes ashamed of the way they are living. They can’t stand being shown up by someone younger then themselves. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

I am sure that Jesus bore some resemblance to His mother Mary. Certainly He had some part of her appearance and her mannerisms. That is the way it is in all families. Children carry with them the image of their parents. They have their looks. They have their walk. They have their inflections in the way they talk. A child that is born into a human family usually always has certain marks and characteristics that label him or her as being a child of their parents. As they say, “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.” The same is true in God’s spiritual family. Every one of His children bears certain birthmarks that reveal them to be children of God. Do you want to know what those marks are? If you have them, you can rest assured that you are a child of God. If they are missing, then you need to come to Jesus and be saved. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Jesus said that whosoever did the will of the Father was a member of His spiritual family. Does this mean that people get into the Lord’s spiritual family because of the things they “do”? Does this imply that works are the basis for salvation? No, I think the Bible is very clear that works cannot save the soul. We need to know the difference between “works” and “acts of faith”. Jesus already DID everything that was required to make salvation available to those who will believe and obey. So, what is this “will of the Father” that Jesus is talking about? Jesus tells us in very clear terms just what the will of the Father is. The will of the Father is for sinners to believe on the Son. When a lost person obeys the gospel of Jesus Christ as his or her Savior, they are instantly and eternally saved. At, baptism, the moment of salvation, they become a child of God. If you can “see the Son”, that is, if you can believe that Jesus came to this world like the Bible says, lived like it says, died like it says and rose again like it says, you can be saved through faith and obedience (Acts of Faith). If you can “believe on Him”; if you can believe (act of faith) that He died for you and rose again from the dead; if you repent (act of faith) from your sins, confess (act of faith) Him as The Son of the Living God, and put Him on in baptism (act of faith), you can be saved. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

WORDS OF WISDOM: TODAY’S THOUGHT!
8/5 Tue
A lot of people are so committed to the life of their family that they allow those commitments to come before their commitment to the Lord. Every sacrifice is made there. Every commitment is made there. Every moment is occupied there. Everything revolves around what is happening in the family. There is nothing wrong with loving your family, you should, you must love your family, but family business is never more important than the Lord’s business. When your family business keeps you out of church, something is wrong. When your family business keeps you from serving the Lord, something is wrong. When your family business holds you back in your service to the Lord, something is wrong! There are times when your commitment to your family and your commitment to the Lord will clash. Jesus is trying to tell us that our responsibility to serve the Lord is superior to our responsibility to our human relations. You see, every physical relationship in your life will end at death; but the spiritual relationships you have in Jesus are forever! So, when your commitments to earthly relations are in conflict to your commitments to heavenly relations, your obligations to Heaven are greater! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

You can see the scene if you try. His mother Mary, or perhaps one of His brothers, tells someone at the back of the crowd to pass the word to Jesus that they are there to see Him. That fellow tells another fellow and he tells another. Soon enough the word reaches Jesus that His family is there to see Him and that they want Him to stop teaching and go with them. The crowd sees nothing wrong with this. In that society, nothing was as important as one’s family. Everything centered on the family. If Jesus’ family needed Him, the crowd fully expected Jesus to stop teaching them and go to His relatives. Instead of stopping what He was doing and going to His mother and brothers, Jesus simply said, “Who is My mother, or my brethren?” The crowd must have been shocked. His mother must have been devastated. His brothers probably got angry. They had traveled all the way from Nazareth to get Him and He refused to even stop teaching to talk with them. Did You know? Near the Lord are those who have come to hear Him. They surround Him as He speaks. A little farther back we see those who would hinder the Lord. These are the Scribes and their cohorts. At the very back of the crowd is our Lord’s family, the ones who have come to help Him, so they think. These verses focus on Jesus and His earthly family. Jesus uses the arrival of His physical family as an opportunity to teach us about His relationship with His spiritual family. Let’s look in on this scene and see if we can grasp the truths that are contained here. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. These men give us hope today. The fact that Jesus was able to use the twelve men with all their weaknesses and failures lets me know that He can use me too. These men lacked spiritual understanding. They lacked humility. They lacked faith. They lacked commitment. They lacked power. These men were always getting into trouble; missing the point on Christ’s teachings; lashing out at people who were different; saying the wrong thing; walking away from their commitment to Jesus; among other failures and problems. In spite of their weaknesses, the Lord used these men to turn the world upside down for His glory. If He can use them, surely He can use us too! That gives me hope today! Jesus led them patiently along, filled them with His Spirit and shocked the world with the way He used these men. I am convinced that He can and will use us, if we will place the clay of our lives in His hand and let Him have His way in us for His glory. . Did You know? I live by Faith and I do not need physical proof, but it does seem like more people only want to come to Christ by proof. I have been praying a lot for my husband because that is the kind of insecurity he has about Christianity. I just pray for him and let God do the rest! emoticon for sharing and have a blessed day! emoticon emoticon

The preaching ministry of the twelve apostles was to be accompanied by miracles. They were given the power to heal the sick and to cast out devils. These were “sign gifts”. They were given this power to validate their ministry to the people they preached to. The people knew that Jesus was a Healer and that He had power over demonic spirits. When the disciples came preaching and demonstrating that same power, the people knew that their message was real and that they were truly the servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. In our day, we do not have those same signs following our ministries any longer. Oh, some people on TV and elsewhere claim to be able to heal and such, but they are charlatans and liars! If they can heal, let them follow the New Testament model and heal whoever they meet that needs healing like Jesus and the disciples did. We do not need the sign gifts to validate our message. Why? The sign gifts were designed to speak to the Jewish people to let them know that their Messiah had come. Today, our message is validated by the lives Jesus changes by His grace through His Word. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

These men were set aside and were called “apostles”. This world speaks of “One sent with orders”. It refers to a “representative of the king; one who speaks with the king’s authority; one who must not be ignored.” Jesus handpicked these twelve men and sent them out with His message. Why did He call these men and not other men? Why were these singled out for this great honor? Was it something they possessed that other men lacked? Were they especially spiritual and close to the Lord? Did He know that they would make great preachers? The Bible says “He called unto Him whom He would”. There was nothing special in these men. They were common men with common deficiencies and common problems. So, why did He call them? Because He wanted to! It was sovereign choice that He made based on His Own Will. May I just say that it is a privilege to be chosen by Him! You will notice that when He called, they came! That is how this thing works! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

God knows what you are going to ask before you ask it. Since that is true, some people have wondered about the need to pray. After all, God is only going to do what He pleases to do. Your prayers and mine change nothing! So why pray? Have you ever thought that the whole end of prayer might be prayer itself? Have you ever considered the truth that God commands us to pray because He longs to fellowship and communion with people like us? He desires for us to pray so that we might spend time in His presence. And time spent in His presence is well spent! Of course, the more time you spend with Him, the more you begin to think like Him. After a while, you only ask for those things that you know will glorify Him. Thus, communion with God brings closeness to God and that is His primary desire for your life. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

A.W. Tozer used to tell the story of the governor of a mid-western state who disguised himself and went into prison for a day to learn of the conditions. While speaking with a likable young convict, he felt a strong desire to pardon him. “What would you do”, he asked casually, “if the governor were to offer you a pardon?” The convict said, “The first thing I'd do is cut the throat of the judge who sent me here.” The governor was saddened as he broke off the conversation and left. That convict stayed in his cell. What was his problem? He had been convicted, but he had allowed his heart to become hard. He could not be helped because of a hard heart. Did You know? William Barclay gives us some insight into the mindset of the Jews regarding medical treatment on the Sabbath. “Medical attention could be given only if a life was in danger. To take some examples—a woman in childbirth might be helped on the Sabbath; an infection of the throat might be treated; if a wall fell on anyone, enough might be cleared away to see whether he was dead or alive; if he was alive he might be helped, if he was dead the body must be left until the next day. A fracture could not be attended to. Cold water might not be poured on a sprained hand or foot. A cut finger might be bandaged with a plain bandage but not with ointment. That is to say, at the most, an injury could be kept from getting worse; it must not be made better.” Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Wisdom is easy to find! Just open the bible and read!

That is so true. I am not very good at that, so that is good reminder for me.

Have a great day everyone!

WORDS OF WISDOM: TODAY’S THOUGHT!
7/27 Sun
Every time you say “No!” to God your heart becomes more callused. After a while, the Gospel message will cease to speak to your heart. If the Lord is calling you to come to Jesus, come while you can still hear His voice. Come while your heart is tender. We teach our children to say “No!” to drugs, alcohol, premarital sex, and other sinful activities. That is a good practice. The more you say “No!” to something, the easier it is to keep on saying “No!” to it. But, when we begin to say no to God, we are headed for trouble! Saying “No!” to evil things breeds resistance to evil. Saying “No!” to spiritual things breeds resistance to spiritual things. It becomes easier and easier to ignore the voice of the Lord as He calls you to come to Him. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Amen! We have a choice to die to our old selves every day and to live the way Jesus did or to continue living in sin. The choice is and always will be ours! emoticon

Jesus knows what the Pharisees are doing, so He calls for the injured man to “stand forth”. Then, Jesus asks a very simple question: “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life or to kill?” They have no answer for Jesus because any answer they might have given would have contradicted their own teachings. The problem with these men and with people like them today is that they could have cared less about the needs of a poor, injured man. All they cared about was their rules and their ways. Jesus knows their problem. Mark tells us that they suffered from “hardness of heart”. These men had been confronted with truth many times and they continually rejected that truth. As a result, their hearts became hard. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Controversy swirled around everything the Lord Jesus did. It seems that everything Jesus did made the religious Jews angry. Every word and every work was placed under the microscope of their judgmental attitude. Their hatred of Jesus eventually resulted in His death on the cross. They are mad because He forgave a man’s sins; ate a meal with sinners; refused to honor their rituals; and because He allowed His disciples to pick and eat grain on the Sabbath. Jesus refused to play ball by their rules and they despised Him for it. The passage finds Jesus in the synagogue on the Sabbath. This visit to the synagogue probably occurred on the same day that Jesus and His men passed through the wheat fields and had their confrontation with the Jews. The Pharisees have followed Jesus to the synagogue. They are looking for some way to trap Him, discredit Him and destroy His ministry. In fact, as we will see here, they will stop at nothing to see that happen. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Well that is good to know because I often wondered if God was displeased with me when I don't rest on Sunday's, but rather use that day not only to worship to God, but also to get my house in order. I don't work on that day because my job doesn't ask me to, but I don't rest much either. emoticon for sharing! emoticon

The Sabbath Day was given as a shadow of Jesus Christ. It pictures the rest His people find in a relationship with Him. When the real thing has come, there is no more need for the shadow. Those who are saved have entered into the Lord’s rest. We are not laboring to be accepted of the Lord. We are “accepted in the Beloved”, and every day is a Sabbath Day of rest for our souls in Him! The Sabbath was the sign to Israel of the Mosaic Covenant. We are not Israel, and the Sabbath is not for us. Christians are never commanded to keep the Sabbath Day, not in the Gospels and not in the epistles. It is the only one of the Ten Commandments that is not reaffirmed in the New Testament. Why? It is ceremonial in nature, while the other nine commandments are moral in nature. Jesus and the Apostles upheld the other nine commandments; the teaching of the Sabbath belongs under the Old Covenant. We Live under the New Covenant. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Jesus did not argue with these men; He merely pointed them back to the Word of God. He looks at these men who pride themselves on their knowledge of the Word and He says, “Have ye not read…?” The Lord used a little sarcasm to get these men to understand that their argument was not based on a proper understanding of what the Bible says about such matters. It is easy to get off balance in this area. It is easy to ride your favorite hobbyhorse and fail to see what else the Bible has to say. It is so easy to get hung up on how people dress; where people eat; where they shop; and things of that nature. Yet, many fail to see that the Bible is bigger than just a few of their pet issues! The Pharisees were not judging these men according to the Law of Moses. They were judging them according to the teachings of the rabbis and the elders. The traditions and teaching of men had been placed on the same level with the written Word of God. The disciples had not violated God’s Law; they had violated the traditions of men and the Pharisees are upset about it. For hundreds of years, the scribes, Pharisees and others had added regulation on top of regulation that went far beyond the original teachings of Scripture. They had taken a day that had been given to man as a blessing and they, by their foolish rules and regulations, had turned that day into a burden. The rules that people were required to follow made them work harder on the Sabbath than on any other day. They worked so hard trying to be sure that they did not violate the Sabbath regulations that they had no time to rest on that special day. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Jesus did not come to blend His new way with old ways of living and believing. Jesus came to redeem sinners and give them new life in Him. That is why salvation is referred to as a “new birth”. Far too many are trying to sew the patch of Christianity into the old garment of their lives. It will not work! Jesus does not want to remodel your old life; He wants to make you into a new creature! Too many want Jesus to fill the wineskin of their old belief system. They want Jesus, but they do not want all the changes He brings. That will not work either! When Jesus comes in, the changes He makes are so expansive, so powerful and so explosive, that they totally destroy the old and leave only the new. You cannot mix Jesus and your religion. You cannot mix Jesus and your old way of living. To be saved, you have to come to Jesus and completely forsake the rest. When you do, you will discover that He has the power to transform you from what you are into what you could never have imagined. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

The Jews were so caught up in their rituals and their traditions that they missed the blessed reality right before them. Had they known Who Jesus was, they would have ceased their fasting and joined in on the feasting! Sometimes we are guilty of the same thing! We do the church thing out of habit and fail to recognize the presence of God that is with us all the time. If we could ever learn to recognize His constant presence with us, it would transform every moment of our lives. We would cease our growling and complaining and we would walk in joy. We would see a change in the way we come to church. We would come looking for Jesus. We would come to worship Him! The fasting of the Jews may have impressed those who saw them, but it did not impress the Lord! He knew that their hearts were not seeking Him and He knew that they were still trapped in their sins. The good things we do in the name of religion and worship are nothing but hypocrisy if they are not done out a heart that is sincerely seeking the Lord. Singing hymns, going to church, preaching, teaching, etc., all become hypocritical if they do not arise out of a genuine desire to worship and glorify the Lord! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

There is nothing wrong with fasting or with some of the other little religious things people do. It is when the rituals become mere lifeless routines that trouble arises. The ritual often comes to take the place of God as the focus of worship. Thus, the ritual can keep a lost person from trusting in God because the ritual is enough for the one who observes it. It can also keep the believer from experiencing genuine communion with God. Some rituals are evil at their core. Things like lighting candles for the dead. Praying to saints and statues is heresy! But, even things like praying, singing, going to church, and reading the Bible can become nothing more than lifeless routines, if the focus is on the ritual and not on the Lord. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

When Jesus answered the criticism of these men He also leveled a criticism against them, but I don’t think they recognized it. Jesus tells them that His mission, His ministry and His message was not for good people, but for those who are bad. He reminds them that He did not come for those who are well, but for those who are sick. The Scribes and Pharisees could not see their own sins. They could see the faults of everyone around them, but they could not see that they needed help too. They believed that as long as the outside was clean, the inside didn’t matter. They were dead wrong! They believed that their religious activity was enough to guarantee their salvation. Again, they were dead wrong! They needed to be saved just like Levi and the rest of those tax collectors and sinners. But, until they could see their own need, they could never be saved. If you get nothing I have said today, get this: your religion, your works, your righteousness, your whatever, will never be enough to save you. Until you have trusted Jesus for your salvation, you are lost, and you will never be saved until you understand that truth! Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Not everyone was thrilled by our Lord’s decision to have dinner with a bunch of sinners. The religious leaders used this as an opportunity to attack the Lord Jesus. The Scribes and Pharisees would never have spent time with sinners. One group of Pharisees, known as “the blind and bleeding Pharisees” would wear blindfolds when they went out of their homes. They were so afraid of seeing a woman and having lust in their hearts that they walked around in the dark, often falling down and getting injured. These men would never have been caught dead having dinner with a bunch of tax collectors and sinners! Sounds like a whole lot of churches and Christians I know! Some people and churches are so separated and so self-righteous that they often look down their noses at lost people, or even other Christians, who don’t live like they do. Some people forget that they were just as bad, or worse, than the lost are before the Lord saved their souls! Do you what our problem is? It is the same problem that these people had. It is called hypocrisy! We are in trouble spiritually when we think we have reached a place where we are better and more righteous than others. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

This verse finds Jesus in a setting that few so-called good people would have been. When you think about the people who were invited to that dinner, you get an idea of the atmosphere. There were tax collectors and rank sinners there, and where you have sinners, you have the potential for sin. Jesus did not partake of their wicked ways, but He did not isolate Himself from sinners either. He spent time with them in an effort to win them. What a contrast to the church! We build our buildings, erect our walls, put up our signs and sit back and wait for the lost to come in. That is not what Jesus did! He went where the lost where. He won their confidence and He changed their lives. You see, we really aren’t carrying out the Great Commission when we build a church and start having services. We are carrying out the Great Commission when we take the Gospel into “the highways and the hedges” and “compel” the lost to come to Jesus. I praise the Lord that He wasn’t ashamed to associate with me! Jesus loved me like I was and He came to me to win me to Him. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

Levi was a tax collector. He worked for the Roman government, collecting taxes for the empire. The Romans came up with a tax quota for each province in the empire. They allowed their nobles to bid on the contracts for collecting the taxes in each area. These nobles usually hired locals to collect the taxes. As long as they met their quota, Rome didn’t care how much more they collected. As a result, the tax collectors became very rich, as they overcharged the people, paid Rome and kept the difference for themselves. Publicans like Levi were notoriously dishonest. Because Levi was a tax collector for Rome, he was among the most despised people in Israel. He was viewed as a traitor to his people and to his nation. As a tax collector, he would have been isolated in the community. He would not have been allowed to go to the Temple or the synagogues. He was a social outcast, who could only socialize with other tax collectors and rank sinners. He was a hated man in Capernaum. Did You know? For more information, read today’s blog, “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH”. Thank You and God Bless YOU! Vic.

I too have witnessed God's work in people's lives and it's amazing! I have two friends in NC that the husband used to be in the Special Forces and the wife was an interior designer. They have everything, but they decided they had too much, and when he got out of the military and retired, they decided to move into a more simple home and get rid of some of the material possessions that they had they felt they didn't need. Now he is a pastor of a church and she too is right a long side of him! They are on fire for the Lord! It is amazing to see such a transformation! Thank you for sharing God's word! Have a blessed day! emoticon
