Hey,

None of us can really say what we think you have. Crohn's is a really individual disease. We're all very different. So I'll just outline a few bits from my experience.

On nausea: I used to get nausea. Along with dizziness, feeling faint and being very, very tired. It was a B12 deficiency and got better when that was treated. If they think you may have Crohn's they should test for this (they often don't do this as routine!). Also, have they checked acid etc? Maybe tried omeprazole (am guessing yes: that's all they seemed to want to give me for ages before I was diagnosed).

UC affects the last part of the bowel and is continuous. Crohn's can occur anywhere in the digestive tract (mouth to bum) and is characterised by 'skip lesions' - bits of healthy bowel and bits of not healthy.

If you get a clear colonoscopy and gastroscopy that's cool. But all should bear in mind that there are many feet of small bowel in between those that aren't reached. Imaging techniques for small bowel is a bit hit and miss.

With Crohn's people sometimes (but not always) get other symptoms, like joint pain, skin rashes, eye inflammation. If you get any of these it might be worth seeing relevant specialists since they can help to manage those symptoms, but also help establish a diagnosis.

Oh, on the blood: they usually say stool coated in bright red blood is haemorrhoid (though if you have UC it could be a bleed very near the end of your bowel). Bleeding further up is usually mixed in and can be darker. Blood can also look like black tar when it has been digested, so look for that.

I'm assuming you mean ulcerative colitis. To be honest, the symptoms are very similar and it does take a while to determine which is going on. They'll look on the colonoscopy to see what type of lesions you have, where the blood is coming from, and do biopsies. My Crohn's flare lasted about 2 years, and it took most of that time just to find out what it was. My hemorrhoids got horrible too. I didn't have a lot of nausea, but I did have some. Aren't they giving you anything to treat the symptoms? Nausea can be controlled. Hemorrhoid pain can be helped..I would get in the shower, get the water comfortably warm, then bend over and let the water run over them. Witch Hazel helps cool them off,you can buy the pads like "tucks", or just a bottle of witch hazel and put it on your own pads or cotton balls. I liked using the pads, for it helped me get cleaner after a stool--it got to the point it really hurt to clean myself. WE all stay tired, we're not getting enough nutrition. TAke vitamins if you can tolerate them..I used Flintstones. ASk your doctor to check your blood to make sure your b12, vit D and iron are ok. Other levels may be off too, but these are the ones I had the most trouble with.
Speak up for yourself; tell your doctor how bad you feel and insist he do something about it. Until they know exactly what you have, symptoms can be treated.
Good luck with your test. If you don't have a good GI doctor, be sure to find one. You'll probably find the best ones at a good medical center. I don't know what part of the country you're in, but there are good medical centers all over.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi there. well as you can see im kinda new to this team :).
Basically the doctors have said it could be ulcers in my intestine or something like crohn's.
Well I am at a wits end. I am having a colonoscopy the 1st of April but kinda thought this is the best place to ask. What do you guys think, do you think its crohns or ulcers etc.

My symptoms have been around of about 2 years now and gradually got worse to the point now where its not livable.
I used to get nausea only after eating now its when ever it feels like especially at night.
I am tired all the time and never have any energy.
Recently I started getting really bad D and more frequent BMs which hurt my stomach alot until passed.
I have noticed blood every now and again coating my BMs and on the tissue but this could just be due to a hemeroid I have that has flaired up alot. Along with a pain that is like a stich when walking long distances every now and again. It is ruining my life

I have had blood tests galore along with endoscopies and bariums.
