The Secret of Roan Inish is a gorgeous film I'd recommend for anyone from age 5 on up!

"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)

"Every day above ground is a good day." (Chef Justin Kennedy of New Orleans, on Chopped)

I totally loved Glory, but I realize Civil War movies are a dificult call for some.

Terri...I second your recommendation on Janet Evanovich...she is my absolutely most favorite author.

Also wanted to recommend:

"The Proposal"
"The Hangover" (if you want some raunchy, but hilarious times...you'll find yourself repeating many of the lines afterwards)
"Serendipity"
"It's Complicated" (just watched that last night)

I know there are more...just have to think about them!

HI!! I so hope that you feel better soon. I know a painful Achilles is not a pretty thing(from experiendce).

For sheer geekiness, I love Empire Records.
Also, Say Anything, The Mummy, The Mummy returns, George of the Jungle(love Brendan Fraser)Chain Reaction, The Pelican Brief, The Bone Collector, and just about everything that LADYIRISH recommended!!

Also, if you decide to do some reading, Janet Evanovich is laugh out loud funny. Also, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris, and Donna Andrews have some good mysteries that might amuse during recuperation time!!

My absolute favorite movie of all times is the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but particularly The Return of the King. Some of the most magnificent pure filmmaking you're ever going to see.

Some other movies I really love:

The Secret of Roan Innish
all Harry Potter films
Waking Ned Devine
North to Alaska (believe it or not, John Wayne was HILARIOUS in this film)
Rudy (I absolutely SOBBED at the end)

"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)

What is your favorite movie?

I am going to be stuck at home for 8 weeks because of Achilles surgery. I have seen just about every episode of Law and Order at least 3 times.

So I need some DVD suggestions... Movies, TV shows, whatever. And does anyone know any exercise videos or plans that just use upper body or are seated in chairs.
