Happy to report that I did lose some weight, trying (but usually not succeeding) in staying on 1500 calories. I walked many steps over my quota for the month.

I achieved the team goal of 310,000 steps for May and went beyond it so I did fine. I have to cut back on food at this point. I am so accustomed to walking that I burn up very few calories. This is advice from one of the Spark trainers and that is why I have been gaining weight despite all the miles I walk.

We're very excited to introduce our Community Goal Feed, a place to post updates and photos, share your goal progress and tell others a little more about yourself! The other night I watched a movie, Hacksaw Ridge, based on a true story. Personally, one of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time. It was so good I couldn't believe Mel Gibson was the director. Steven Spielberg or Clint Eastwood.. yes, but Mel Gibson... wow, hat's off to him.

ELLACAMINA, I am very much motivated by that 10,000 steps a day goal. I take Sundays off, though. Seven days a week of aerobic exercise is exhausting and I find I do a lot better on Monday by resting on Sunday.

Thanks for the offer of the recipe for dahl. I think I'll just continue to buy it at Trader Joe's. It's VERY easy for me that way!

Deb, having a daily step goal keeps me motivated and inspired.

Dee, I make enough dahl to last about 4 days and make it every other month. Simple recipe if you're interested. Good luck on your race!

Yesterday marked my second week of my step challenge and doing better than I could imagine. Had to re-add my numbers to make sure it was right. Over 75,000 steps and less than 200 steps short of 30 miles.

Dahl! A few years ago, I wouldn't have known what that was, but we buy it from time to time at Trader Joe's. So good!

Today, I think the temps went into the high 60s. Anyway, our walking club had our kickoff for our 5 and 10ks in Forest Park. I just loved ditching my coat and being totally comfortable wearing a tee shirt. What a great feeling!

I am trying to get in my steps each day again, I got very little done in January, some days are still hard , but some days are starting to get better. We all miss Drew so much but know he is no longer in pain. His fight with cancer was a year long fight and so very hard on all of us.

I started cleaning out my fridge and making room for this weekend's groceries. I like those large containers of asstd greens for salads and smoothies. Going to steam 5lbs of potatoes to have on hand for potato and mac salad, mashed potatoes and 'baked' fries. Also going to cook a large pot of indian dahl and have that with brown rice and greens. I can't wait to get started, so I can eat the rewards...lol

I did accomplish my goals in January, but just barely. My exercise goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day and I am on that Spark team. I got 314,000 steps for the month, just 4,000 over the goal. I usually do better, but there were three days of slick ice and I couldn't leave the house at all, not even to drive somewhere. I am doing so much better on portion control and staying in range on the Spark Food Tracker.

I took my little dog and walked the northern section of fairly recently constructed paved trail. That was just about three miles, but it was such a beautiful day, and how many of those do we get in January??, that I decided to do the southern part of the trail again. I have walked that section a lot because it is a lot older. Anyway, I walked 6 miles and very much enjoyed getting outside today.

I'm going to continue what I've been doing...taking an average of 10,000 steps a day and improving my eating habits. Just a couple habits to work on! LOL! I find that I enjoy walking/walking very much and I'm looking forward to new places to walk and new trails to hike...or maybe walk/hike a few old favorites.
