Hi there, My name is Sher, I was diagnosed with lung cancer 3/05. They removed 2/3rds of my right lung and I did the whole chemo thing. My dad passed 4 yrs ago with lung cancer. Then my brother,age47, passed about 10 months ago from lung cancer. My dad was a heavy smoker and his cancer had already matastizes toboth his lungs. My brother new 3 years ago that he had a spot on his lung and ignored it. He didnt even tell his wife he had it Then when he went to the hospital because his lung collapsed, they told him its too late and it matastisized to all his major organs. My mom had to watch her dear husband of 57 years pass with lung cancer. Then she watched me and my brother struggle with lung cancer. Then she watched my brother pass from this. And I made it. My sister wishes I had died and not my brother. all I hear from her is I should have died too. She can go plunk...I am here and I do feel guilty alot that I lived, but Ny brother told me before he died to live for him. To finish my college and go on with my dream and to keep him in my heart. So thats what I am doing. I miss my brother and dad so much. I was in college in 3/05 when I was diagnosed. I did what I had to do. Dealt with it. Put it in it's place and moved on.I returned to school and graduated 3/06 as a medical assistant. I am happy and I am living each day to the fullest. We are all here for each other. I never met so many nice people since I joined sparkpeople 41 days ago. Nice to meet you and everyone else... Sher

Hello Michelle

How very sad about your adored mother-in-law...I'm glad you have been able to talk about it here and hope it helps you to be strong for your DH and children.

I am praying for you all

Hi Michelle and welcome. I'm glad you found this group too. I'm sorry to hear about your dear mother-in-law. We lost my father-in-law to lung cancer. I know how hard it can be on the whole family.

Hi there, my name is Michelle. I am glad I found this group. My dear, sweet mother in law, whom I adore, has terminal lung cancer. She was diagnosed last March and did well the first few months, but we are most likely entering the last few months of her life. We are a close knit family...she lives just a few blocks away from us. My children adore her and she is the only grandmother they have. I fear my husband is going to have a hard time dealing with her death. He is in complete denial and only focuses on her personal business, while I take care of her physically when her day nurse is not there.

It's been a rough year and the road ahead is not going to be any easier. I am glad to have found a group of people who know what my family is going through.
