Hi Abby. I am very sorry about your BF. I know what you are going through. You are stressed all the time. You never know from one day to the next what is going to happen, especially when the word terminal is added on to the cancer.
I think you will enjoy SP. It should help you organize your thoughts about yourself and your body. I have found it a godsent. I give me some ME time. I distracts me from the problems around me. Makes me feel like I am out with a bunch of friends who really get along together.

Anyway keep in tough. I would really like to keep in touch.

Dianne emoticon I wish you sunshine

My fiance was diagnosed with terminal rectal cancer 1 1/2 years ago. he is still undergoing chemotherapy with few side effects physically, but emotionally it is just havoc in our house. Because I tend to be an emotional eater...it also plays havoc on my physical as well as emotional health.

Hi, my husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer two years ago. We were given a small time line. But he has surprised everyone. Even though the tumor continues to grow, he does not have any symptoms of the disease. Hopefully this continues for a while

Welcome! I also had a child with cancer who is now an adult. My family knows the terrible problems this awful disease causes every family member, not just the child with cancer. I often feel I left my older child to fend for himself while I concentrated on my daughter. I still feel guilty to this day because of this, even though my son says he never felt deprived.

I discovered through a newspaper article that adult survivors of childhood cancers have specific problems as adults & many large medical centers have programs for adult survivors. My daughter went through such a program's evaluation & it really was interesting. The doctor gave us a great deal of information regarding followup routine testing that should be done regularly for adult survivors of childhood cancer. We thought my daughter was finished with all of that, but the doctors really helped us see that we had to always be on guard & let all the primary care doctors know her history. You may want to consider something like this for your son. I always feel the more information you have the better.

emoticon Glad u joined the team. Glad ur son is doing well. My second son had Testicular Cancer in January '09 and he has had his Cat Scans come back "clean" in August. We just hope he will stay well. Cancer is a terrible illness. The doctor has told him that when he is in his 40's he can have problems from all the chemotherapy he had and scans, but that it was a "trade-off" since he had to have the treatment or he wouldn't have lived to see his 40s. He's 27 now, so he exercises daily and eats organic foods. I've read that Leukemia children have issues when they get older, so I guess it is just part of it all.
I'm glad you're working on your own health. Something happening to you would certainly put a stress on your son, so you don't want to have that happen.
