Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd drop in and say 'hi' and see how everyone is going.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

The pin and needles in lips feet and hands are probably from the drug Oxciliplatin (not sure of the spelling) its a great but toxic drug. Strong but one of the best ones. It does cause nerve damage, some temporary and if taken too long can be permanent and the oncologist make the decision of where that threshold is. It take time, like a year after the last dose for the sensations to disapear. My husband is about 8 months out from the drug and still has some numbness in his toes. But the tingeling is gone. Thank goodness.

Hi Sunshee,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My husband has advanced prostate cancer. One of his sisters had a mastectomy for breast cancer and another just had a hysterectomy for ovarian cancer. His brother has been having prostate problems.

My grand-father had pancreas cancer. He lived in florida at the time (hours away by plane). It was hard, being so far away. I'm sorry you can't be there. It must be hard for you. Take care of yourself. I agree with Jeneve, make sure you get yourself checked too. It's so important.

I'm going in a few weeks to have a colonoscopy. They say once you turn 50 your supposed to get one every 5 years. My husband is learning the hard way what happens when you ignore symptoms and don't get yourself checked.

Good luck to you and your father.

Linda

Hello Sunshee

I'm Australian too. My mum had breast cancer and had one breast removed. My grandmother (deceased)had breast cancer too - but she, amazingly, lived to be 98.

So, it is in the family and I have to have regular mammograms.

My brother's wife died about 7 years ago of breast cancer, so his daughters have a history of breast cancer on both sides - double jeopardy!

I hope you are checked for bowel cancer, or at least have been warned of the pros and cons? It is very hard that you cannot see your father regularly and care for him ... I know how much you must worry.

We live in Sydney and my mother lives in Port Macquarie and even that was hard, not being there when she needed me. But I did spend some time with her when she had her breast removed and post-op.

Have a great weekend.
