ah yes, it's fun to spoil people rotten! i plan to try and do as much as i can for my aunt. she's tough to buy for, and frankly has a lot more money than i do, but i just want to do something special...just in case.

good luck to you all and i hope someone spoils you rotten for the holidays and beyond! everyone deserves it.

and like i said, please feel free to talk here. i joined a support group and i can't say it helped all that much for me. it might work for others, though. i found that my group was still all about our sick relatives and wasn't giving us the room we needed to talk about ourselves and what we're going through. so please try to talk about it as much as you can instead of holding it in.

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

Hi....I am new to this forum. My Dad has survived kidney and prostate cancer and now is dealing with bladder cancer. He will have an operation to remove small tumors on 12/12. We are optimistic because he has had this kind of operation before and came through very well. I plan on making Dad a big batch of fudge for Christmas. It is one of his favorites.

Dieting is not a piece of cake.

hello... our thanksgiving was wonderful. we went to my neices house.
my hubby has rectal cancer, he got his port put in today and starts chemo and radiation monday morning.
it's alot for me to take in. he is doing alot better than i am .
i had a really bad panic anxiety attack wed. and had him call an ambulance for me. i had taken a zanax but it just didn't kick in fast enough for me.
i am going to the dr today to get on my depression meds and something for nerves and stess as well.
i am just so close to my hubby that this is taking a bigger toll on me than him.
i need all the prayers i can get.
i found us a support group close by our house and we're going to go today and check it out cause i really need the support through this and i know he will soon too.
thanks so much for this forum.

hey folks, hope your thanksgiving was a good one. i know it's tough to be thankful sometimes, but we have to look at the positives in order to get through the bad times.

my turkey day was actually pretty good. my aunt is doing really well right now. the chemo is working (her tumor markers are down to 8 from 47!) and she doesn't really 'look' sick. once she has her wig on, no one can tell that anything is wrong! she gets fatigued a lot, but that's the worst of her problems. we cooked fairly healthy for turkey day dinner. i ate my portions and she actually ate more than i've seen her eat in a long time. now we just have to deal with the leftovers for awhile.

as for christmas...it will be my first one away from home. instead of a pine tree, we'll have a cactus with lights on it. it's actually nice. and the houses are decorated so nice and look beautiful at night. i caught myself singing and dancing to xmas music while shopping last night. i feel good about it. my aunt does, too. she has spent most christmases alone her entire life because she lived so far away from everyone. this year she's excited because she has a "daughter" to buy presents for. haha, i always knew that giving was much more fun than receiving. now i just have to figure out what to give her! it's also nice that she's talking about the future differently than before. although she still has stage 4 and is diagnosed as terminal, she has some hope that they're wrong. she used to say that this could be her last thanksgiving or christmas, but now she's talking about who to invite over next year. this holiday has turned out a lot better than i was expecting.

if you want to chat a bit or talk about your holiday experiences with your loved ones, please post! we all want to hear how you're doing!

merry christmas!
