If you are reading this it is because you are close to someone who has been diagnosed with Cancer. People all over the country are diagnosed every day with cancer. Cancer does not discriminate against race, gender, or social status. Cancer happened to us. It could happen to you, too. Cancer doesn't just happen to one family member. It happens to the whole family. It affects parents and grandparents, and it affects siblings. With one diagnosis a whole family's lives are changed forever. Cancer sucks.
With that being said, I want to urge everyone to check out the link below, and if you are eligible, to take the step and sign up to be a bone marrow donor. Many times, the only way to save someone's life which cancer is through a bone marrow transplant. Patients who do not have a suitably matched donor in their family may search the NMDP Registry for an unrelated bone marrow donor or cord blood unit. If you sign up on line before September 22nd, the NASCAR Foundation will pick up your registration fee. The registration fee is not much ($52), but it helps make it a little easier to register. Once you register, they send you a kit to swab your cheeks with so they can check your tissue type. It is as easy as that to get on the donor list. If you think you are ready, click on the link!
