@LAKENDAL Yeah, mediation is hard to get into. I don't do it for very long (I started with only 2 mins per day). I can't sit still so I lie down. I think each person has to find their own way to deal. Glad you were able to do it without meds.

I tried the meditation thing but can't shut my brain off. Part of the problem with anxiety is I dwell on things and keep thinking about them until my blood pressure shoots up. Luckily I have a good doc who didn't push the meds and let me try to get it under control first.

@LAKENDAL - Wow. So glad to hear that you got your blood pressure back to normal. These changes are normally not talked about. I mediate and use massage and acupuncture to relieve my stress and it is helping.

My stress/anxiety got so bad my blood pressure was high for a while. Doc wanted to put me on blood pressure meds but I knew that it was my hormones affecting it. I started taking soy isoflavones and using essential oils and that helped.
I also quit my subbing job at the school and that REALLY helped. I still have anxiety issues but not nearly as bad as it was before. Panic attacks are far and few between. I've even stopped taking the soy and only use the oils as needed.
I'm happy to report my blood pressure is back to normal.

I have experienced problems with stress. For some reason I get really stressed out!
I wish I had light and short periods. They do seem to be coming more infrequently which is nice however the last one I had lasted 16 days! Normally it is 4-5 days.

Luckly I missed out the irregular cycles as I was on birth control til 52.

It has been over a year and there was no spotting, yay.

losing weight is harder.. but it is finally starting. I stopped consuming chicken on my salads at lunch, instead I am putting in kidney or chick peas.

My complaint is the lack of desire for sex emoticon , I didn't want that to happen!

Losing weight has been tough for me. I've also had problems with anxiety. My cousin (on mother's side) and my sister had the same issues. My mother passed away when I was young so I can't go by her.
My cycles are very unpredictable. I can go months without a period then have one. When I do have a period it is very very light and short.

Hi All,

I just joined SparkPeople yesterday. I was so glad to find this team because I have been in Perimenopause for 2 years. I have been so frustrated with my irregular cycles (sometimes 2x per month and sometimes I skip a month) and wanted to find others going through the same stuff. My Gynecologist told me my best indicator of what to expect is to ask my mother. I did so and she claims that she doesn’t remember.

I am experiencing the following:
-not losing weight
-retaining water (leg and ankle swelling)
-feeling irritable

Anyone else experiencing these? I have had some relief using compression socks and meditating.

How are you dealing with your changes?
