I KNEW someone would mention 'salads'. It's a wonderful idea IF there were saladings around.

I kept mentioning to DH, "It's snowing where DEBBY lives. It's raining where TINKKY lives. There's a snowstorm-ish where LNSY lives." He laughed. Well, it helped me feel better.

Temps are cooling back off. Whew!

Wow! Heat wave! People back East are probably jealous!
We are 32 in the morning and 60 around midday!

Supposedly eating soup lowers the amount of calories you eat and helps cool you off in hot weather. Not sure I buy that idea but it might work.
Salads are always good in heat.

What to do/eat when it's so hot ya don't even want to be in the KT?

I'm trying hard to keep to a regular eating schedule w/ good food.

We had fast food tonight. Don't feel too great, now.

The heat wave has caught me by surprise. :-(

It's been a year since I had my period. I guess I've now entered menopause. How many years before your considered to be in post menopause? My sleeping is better since entering menopause and hormones a bit better.

I just wanted to say, at 65 yrs., the hormones, still aren't done with me, or my friends. For the most part, I'm fine. Every once in awhile the hot flashes emoticon come back. I'm not angry, as I was during my menopausal years. I was very angry, but am pretty happy now. Life will return to semi-normal. emoticon What is the challenge? I'd be happy to join. emoticon Andrea

Here is a useful info. link about weight loss... it's about thinking about maintaining BEFORE losing. Hmmm!

The key part for me so often is the battle that occurs in the mind--about consistently making healthy choices.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the input. I talked to my sister today, who is 16 years older than me, and she seemed to remember that moodiness was part of it all. It's good to know I'm not alone!

Clair,
The definition of menopause is 1 year without a period so you are officially in menopause. That said, that doesn't mean hormones are done with you! The other suggestions are good.

CLAIR,
I've gone 1 year and 8 months with my TOM and I get moody, and other stuff that's I I'm taking a certain product ambereen. And it also helps with hot flashes and not sweets.
There are other things you can take...at least for a short while called estroven.
You might want to get your hormones checked out also just to see where the are and talk with your DR about it.
But You feelings of crying ans such is normal.
How ever If it really bothers you please go talk to your DR about it.

Good questions CLAIRE. I don't have any answers at the moment. Too tired to think straight (going to bed VERY soon.)

Hopefully others will help.

How about asking your questions in a Topic.... you'd probably get more responses.

I have a question. Okay, so I haven't had a period for over two years, so I guess I'm either in perimenopause or menopause. Anyway, is it normal to have weepy moments (or hours, or a day), like I did when I was on my period? I've been feeling just so emotional today. I haven't had crying jags, but I feel really sensitive, like I could start crying at any moment. And there's no real reason for it.

And what about cravings...like those times when you're on your period and you could just eat the whole house?

,,,old topic: I can't imagine any recipe that isn't baked to require baking soda. That is part of the "chemical reaction" with heat.

Just to check...I put a pedometer on at the beginning of the day to see if it would make a difference for me. And I wanted to see how much "moving" I was doing. I have to say that it did "encourage" me to head outside before dark and get in a 30 min walk...even though I finished the last 3/4 mi in the RAIN.
So far I'm at 7000+ steps. I felt that was good start. emoticon
I'm hoping that it will be another motivator as the days get shorter, dark, and more gray around here. I can keep pushing towards the 10,000 step mark one way or another!

Just stopping by for a quick "hello." I've been working lots of hours, and finally got some shifts out in my small town. Instead of making me part time when the old guys retired, they made the part time girl full-time, so I haven't worked out here since February. Now I've got four shifts in one week. It's a lot different than the city hospital I work at. Nice change of pace.

The kids are all busy with activities, thus keeping me busy too. Mikey helps to drive everyone around now, and that is sooooo helpful. We've got two in the high school play, two in basketball, four in piano, various other instruments and vocals, and that's all I can remember right now. We're always hopping around here.

Chris

Mom of six wonderful kids including 15 year old twins. I'm also a hypothyroid patient, which makes weight loss that much more difficult.

Well I made the pumpkin ball they are good but not what i thought they would be .

Here is the recipe :

No Bake Pumpkin Balls

3/4 cup oat meal
1/2 cup oat flour or make your own by blending oatmeal
1/2 tsp . cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 Tbsp. baking soda ( I could not figure this one out since you do not bake them ) emoticon but i added it anyways
1/4 cup brown sugar or honey
3 Tbsp. peanut butter
1/3 cup canned pumpkin
1-2 T water if needed ( but you will not need it )
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix all the dry ingredient in a bowl by it's self .
Mix all wet ingredients in another bowl.
Then combined both together and mix well .

Then it says to chill in frig for 5-10 minutes but I never .
Then place back in frig. until ready to serve.
another thing i did different was to chop up pretzels very fine and roll each ball in them to coat , because they are very soft and gooey , and that helped alot .

enjoy !

Good Morning Ladies : )

Well yesterday I spent the day running getting grocerys and to a follow-up appointment with the docotor that did my EGD. Which he told me everthing looked fine other then I have a small hiatal hernia and showed me the little irritation I had from acid reflux . Told me to continue taking the nexium for 6 month and then to stop and see how I get along.

So today I am playing catch up getting thins in order for the weekend , got to make some no-bake pumpkin balls to take to are church gathering at the corn maze tomorrow evening . It is a new recipe I am trying so will see how it turns out weather it goes or stays home and then I have to come up with something else instead . But I think they will be ok , they sound good anyway .

Well make today Awesome !

Catch ya all later !

Psalm 51 King James Version (KJV)

51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Elisa, I'd love the heat back....I'm dreading the S*N*O*W that should be here hopefully later then sooner.
Of course our state is under a drought, despite the much needed rain we have gotten lately.
We are lucky to get to 45 degrees.
