LIZABAKER,
I've not had one that has lasted as long as yours has. Are they real heavy at first and then lighten up after a few days?

whoo-hoo, I'm at 1 month....again!

Had my annual last week, no specific end in sight.. spotting makes you start counting again(:, Mamogram this week...yuk, but everything otherwise is still ok.

That's good news CHUEYSMOM:)

Hope you can go months with out one....
I can only speak for me...I use to go 4 months with out one and then have one and it would last for 2 weeks.

So I hope you'll go for along time:)

But I do know that if you do have spotting after not having it for months then you have to start over again, sorry for the bad news:(

Eventually you'll get to the 1 year mark & it will be gone woohoo!

As of today, I'm two weeks late for my TOM. Last month was pretty heavy and lasted 7 days, when normally they only last 5 days. I'm always regular, so I don't know what to think of being late. I guess I need to call my doctor. Need a pap done anyway, so I can discuss it with her, if I don't start before then.
In a way, I'm hoping this is the beginning.

I am not a medical person, so I am only answering this per my own experience..... when I was a teenager, the TOMs were erratic. I might go 35-45 days apart. Of course, when I later on the pill, they were predictable to the time of day when they would start. Loved that. I think the irregular part had a lot to do with my emotions, which were all over the place.

After the babies were born, my TOMs were regular. I attributed that to no longer having time to worry about my TOM or when it would start....so they were pretty regular and about 30 days apart. They were always light....UNTIL I reached 40 yrs old. Then, they were heavy for a few years and the cramps were back. emoticon They were so heavy that I had to use a tampon and pad together. Not pleasant. Those were more frequent, too.....sometimes just 3 weeks apart. So, the irregular dates were back.

THANKFULLY, they lightened up again. I started to have them every other month. They got more distant. The TOMs became no longer a TOM...almost none existent. Without being graphic, what I mean is that I would wear a pad, but nothing it was not even necessary. I have now gone (I'm pretty darn sure) a year without having a TOM. Pretty sure Feb was my one year mark. BUT, since I'm not for sure on that (faulty record keeping), I am waiting till May/June to claim this momentous event for sure. That will also be when I have my yearly DR appt....So, I can let DR know as well.

I am no longer taking any supplements for hot flashes....and, yes, I do have them. I have found no regular pattern with those. It seems I am just frequently needing to take off the sweatshirts I enjoy wearing. For a person who always needed to wear 2 layers and was STILL shivering (during the winter months)....it is very odd for me to be wearing just a tank top ... and to be sweating. Funny, indeed.

Sounds like your TOM is related to my TOM--I'll go months then I'll spot, or like last Aug I'll flow big time for 3 weeks! --and according to Elsa--I start counting again since I was spotting last week(:

I'm downstairs and calendar is upstairs, but my TOM has been all over the place the past 2-3 years, a definite slowing down. My ob/gyn is great - she's a bit older than myself so she's fairly sympathetic although she wants me to loose the weight, of course. She doesn't seem to be surprised that I don't have much of the hot flashes, but I think I just answered my own question on a different thread since being overweight already (obese) is as if I've already got too much estrogen, and the soy that many take for hot flashes has estrogen... so oh well...

but I have noticed that TOM will hit when I'm more stressed than usual. It also seems to hit if I go from eating more freggies back into a fattier diet (more meats and startches), so duh, you'd think that would be more motivating..

I need to keep a coherent journal and write down EVERYTHING (which is what SP has said all along but do I take the time? since the computer is downstairs..

Just finished TOM though... (oh and the other thing I do notice is some "months" I will have some spotting and other "months" I don't, and then like this month, I had a longer TOM, just thinner - none of the clumpy gunk I used to get in my younger days. Yaaay? I guess??

She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

I'm on mine right now - but have a question:

After a lifetime of having super regular cycles, the length of time between my periods over the past few months has been all over the place - sometimes 2 weeks apart, sometimes 3 weeks apart, sometimes a week late, sometimes on time. I had a normal pap and a pelvic ultrasound which showed that I have fibroids, but we're just going to monitor them.

My Dr. told me that at 47, I'm too young to be entering peri-menopause and that I will get fewer periods not more. This doesn't seem to correspond with all of the reading that I've been doing. From what I understand the time between cycles can get completely random for some women...and my mom was completely finished with meno by 48 - so it seems to me that I'm probably right on time!

What have you folks experienced?

In your case, TINKKY, just make sure it's the little TOM is from the hormones and not from anything else. Okay?

Congrats!! Let's hope you are correct in remembering!!

I'm at 5 months--does spotting count? I hope not! My counting is strange, as I don't seem to have much in hot flashes--none during the day, but occasionally at night, and they are not consistant.... but I am extremely tired with sensitive boobs

I am 2nd guessing myself now that I think I may actually have reached the 12 month point (without a TOM). I'm wondering if I just forgot to keep good enough track this past year. Idk. Hmmm. Wish I could remember EXACTLY. I will know for definitely and for sure if I go as far as till this coming summer months. Sheesh. I just dunno. I hope this is really it, tho. Hate it when I have a scatter brained moment like this! emoticon

Holy cow! I'm at 11 months now. LOL at the discussion about TOMs showing up at the most inconvenient times.....b/c OH MY, that's what they have always done to me. Just about every vacay (including a 20 year anniversary trip we took & yep...TOM showed up)....or right on Thanksgiving Day once and I was not able to eat very much....just about any time I wouldn't want it to start....that's when it would start....I could pretty much count on that. Grrr. This 11th month streak, I hope it is really it. The Estroven quit working for me. I had quit taking it, then started it up again, and after taking it for the 3 months (the amount that were in the pkg), I really wasn't noticing any difference. I have hot flashes sometimes, but not all the time. Unpredictable.

That might be fun!!

Mine was at the MOST inconvenient time I could think of ..maybe a honeymoon would be worse. Mine was close to that, and you can use your imagination to figure that out, lol.

If you don't have a TOM for 11 months and 2 weeks and you have one that seems normal, normal flow, and symptoms does that mean you have to start counting all over again? I was celebrating and it came at a very very inconvenient time. I know it's supposed to be 12 months. Either the Universe has a sense of humor or I was done and I had an abnormal flow...

I had lost track of where I was at with this question, so thought I'd better check back with this thread. It looks like I'm at 9 months now. emoticon

Congratulations AMJSATURN!!

I feel your pain GOLIONS, as

I'm back at 1 week(: I hadn't had one for 6 months then, I get one for 3 weeks(:
Went to the doctor, they did bloodwork and a sonogram... now to wait for the results.

A couple of weeks I think. I had it for thirty three days straight so I have lost count. I know it was sometime after August 13. Hot flashes started and the period stopped. I think I might be getting it again though I am not sure:-)
